  1. You're kidding right? 6,000 people in a year is not a lot of people to get hurt? If the law stops just one of those people getting hurt, then it's a good law. Sure you may be disappointed that you can't use them, but surely it's better to protect people from the horrific injuries fireworks can cause? Have you ever seen injuries from fireworks in real life? Does any person deserve these types of injuries and worse? Source: http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/
  2. Congratulations to Johnny for winning SOTW #43 with 3 votes, here is the winning sig. And here is your winners tab.
  3. Entries are closed for this SOTW, voting thread is here. Cast your vote now!
  4. Post your votes for entries in SOTW #44 here. Please include a reason for your vote and use the voting format shown below. Mich, unfortunately your entry does not comply with the size restrictions and is disqualified. Rules: kilew KuBi DjLuki Johnny Saint_Michael Avalon delivi Edgecoc Lots of entries to choose from again, it going to be a tough choice. Here's the voting format.
  5. Most carnival games are a rip-off, otherwise they wouldn't make any money. The only one I ever do any good with, (and normally the only one I'll play) is the good old shooting gallery. I know most of those air rifles are screwed and the sights don't actually point to where the pellet is going. But if you carefully watch where the pellet goes on the first shot you can compensate for the error. I am usually fairly successful and normally only get caught out when they give you faulty pellets. I have found though that if you complain enough, they will give you decent pellets. I guess they don't want everyone else hearing how they cheat you out of your money. The only problem with the shooting galleries, the prizes are often worth less than what it costs you to play. (stupid stuffed toys) It does tend to impress the girls though when you can shoot all the ducks down. :)As for the other games like the 'coin-toss', 'ring-over-the-bottle' and ones like them, I find them too hard so I give them a miss.
  6. You need to remember that not all of us are in the same time zone as you. This means while you are here, we are sleeping or at work. Anyways, my comments about your sig are much the same as truefusions. The render looks like it is too far to the left and has left an empty space on the right side. Colors and blending are good, although I'm not sure what the '02' is doing on her wing, it looks out of place. I think your text could have been a little higher, the border is sitting on top of it and looks a bit odd. 7/10 from me.
  7. I'm not sure what it is you are proposing. Is it like a portal site to all our Xisto web sites? Sort of like a search page that links to our various sites that no doubt covers a lot of topics. If this is what you are thinking of, I like the idea. Can you please expand on what you have in mind?
  8. I think if you were to go through a hospital emergency ward when fireworks were available you would be surprised the damage they can do. Unfortunately, people WILL be idiots and that is why these things are banned. The other problem is that when fireworks are used is normally at some type of celebration, exactly the time when some people drink too much and lose control. Put fireworks in the hands of these people and you have an accident waiting to happen. After all, fireworks ARE explosives and demand respect, that is not something a person that has drunk too much is going to think about. Personally I agree with the ban. Leave fireworks to the experts, not the general public.
  9. First off, I don't understand why this program is so popular, I see it as a complete waste of time. Why on earth would anybody want to watch a group of young people generally behaving badly? As for the alleged sexual assault charges, the latest I have heard is that the police have decided not pursue the matter. This means either there was nothing to answer for and the Big Brother people are doing it all for publicity reasons or the girl has decide not to press charges. I think given the chance, the police would lay charges as these are very serious allegations and one assumes they would have video evidence.
  10. Quite clever Tom. I guess you call this something along the lines of "Putting on a brave face." As far as an image goes, there a lot of wasted space, particularly at the top, you could have easily lowered the title closer to the images and cropped the image. All same, nice job.
  11. I work for a large company and we have had several students come through under work experience, usually only for 1 week at a time. I always thought the purpose was to give the student an idea of what working in that particular job would be like. I was also under the impression the student MUST be paid, (in Australia anyways) and the minimum payment is $5.00 per day, our company usually doubles that payment. Pretty low payment, but better than nothing. We have had quite a few students return and apply for a full time position, some have been successful and some haven't. While doing the work experience doesn't guarantee a job, it does help. The reason is the employer sees it as interest from a prospective employee, an interested employee is always going to be a better employee. Anyone can be trained if they have the interest. I wish you luck with your work experience.
  12. My vote goes to Johnny. I love the lighting and blending on the render. C'mon folks, we desperately need more votes here before this SOTW closes.
  13. Here's my entry. I'm surprised nobody has used Spring as yet.
  14. Sorry, but I can't recall seeing this name on any of your other sigs you have used here. Can you post links to example posts on this board?
  15. In fact, if you have Photoshop CS2 then you already have an animation program, you don't need to use ImageReady for animation. Go to the Windows menu and select the Animation palette.
  16. I don't know about NASCAR, but I would most definitely call motorcross a sport. Having done a bit of it myself many years ago, I can tell you that if you have been motorcross racing and you are not fit, your body will be sore all over. It's hard work throwing a motorcycle around a tight twisting track. I think you should try and participate in some of these activities and then see if you think they are a sport or not. Fitness is a necessity in most of the activities you have mentioned.
  17. I'm not a gamer, what is BHD? What type of game is it?
  18. Sorry, but it's too late for this SOTW as voting has started. Please try again for the next SOTW and be careful of that check box. It might useful to check the size of the sig as it appears on the forum, then you would have picked up the problem before the entry was disqualified.
  19. I like the first one, I would like it even better if your text was a little easier to read. The second one doesn't do much for me and I really like the last one. Why do you spend so little time making you sigs? It takes me longer than that to decide what I want to do!
  20. Here's a CSS tutorial I downloaded a while back. I found it very useful, maybe it will help you too. http://www.mudmall.com/other/CSS_Tutorial.zip Just unzip the files using the save folder info option so the files go in their correct folders.
  21. BUMPing this topic so people can enter, good luck everyone.
  22. Congratulations to Tom for winning this week's SOTW with 6 votes! Here is the winning sig and your winner's tab.
  23. I'm sorry Seńor Maniac but your entry is disqualified as it does not meet the size requirements. The height of your sig is 91 pixels, the minimum height permitted was 100 pixels. The new voting format is as follows.
  24. I like the background style and the render on the left. However, I think it would have been better without the second render, it looks like he is punching himself in the nose. I think the background color should have been a better match to the render. I don't really like the font used, it is a little hard to read. 6/10 from me.
  25. I prefer the gray one, it is much easier to read than the black one.
