  1. I'm not going to take this Cell phone/TV thing seriously until (like someone said before), they integrate the television signal through the airways on the phone. I can't imagine that being too difficult considering that they have TV on watches now. The only reason I can think of why they're taking so long is that they want to figure out a way that they can regulate it and make more money. Chanels 2-13 are free in California, but the rest is cable/digital - which is where cable companies make their money. Cell phone manufacturers could easily integrate a television based on airways as radio stations are doing. They could sell the unit for a slightly higher price than camera phones - but I have a feeling they want to somehow capitalize off of this technology even further with some sort of subscription service like the bogus "V cast." Who cares about getting snippets of the show. If I'm going to buy a phone for TV, I want a whole dang show.
  2. This is a question for anyone to answer: Does anyone know if it's possible to post on Xisto's forum using a WAP enable cell phone? That would be really convenient if you can. If not, does anyone know if Xisto will be configuring this forum for WAP in the future? Thanks in advance.
  3. Thanks for the heads up. I am a little bit older, but have smidge more gaming knowledge than I did growing up because of my son (I didn't have a lot back then). I agree, role playing would take away from Yourself! Fitness. The whole point of the "game" (and I say "game" loosely), is to work out and start living a healthy lifestyle. It's not some "Jetsons"-type exercise tool, in which you can watch yourself workout. It's much like Dance Dance Revolution, as I've said before. You are dancing to an instructors rhythm and beats, and you are losing calories whether you realize it or not. This game is just more focused than that. It takes it a step further by extracting data from you, monitoring your results, and providing meal plans. Everything a fitness trainer would charge you $100/session for. The great thing about it is that it also assesses your mood. Let say, the workout was a bit hard and you are sore, Maya will modify your workout accordingly after she asks you how you are feeling. This is a viable alternative if you are budgeting and want to save money on a gym membership / fitness trainer.
  4. I'm not famliliar with the term RPG, but I do know that the program incorporates a music selection, and certain songs/genres are unlocked as you progress, kind of like "Dance Dance Revolution." Also, there are different exercises available, including the one's you may be familiar with, plus pilates, and yoga. The exercise program you follow also depends on the exercise equipment that you own, which you tell Maya when you create your profile before you begin your regimine. Each exercise if thoroughly explained, and if you don't understand them, there is a tutorial available. This program would best serve someone who is interested in becoming fit, and doesn't exactly know how to do it. Like myself. I also don't have hundreds of dollars to spend on a gym membership and seperate costs for a fitness trainer/nutritionist. $25 is not a lot, but you get so much in return. I think it's a wise investment, and could definitely be used for children in schools, as well as adults with busy lifestyles who also have reasonable budgets. If you do an internet search, you'll find nothing but praises.
  5. That is horrible. Twenty five years of your life is gone. How do you get that back? I hope he sues the city/state where he is from and gets millions of dollars. Even that isn't going to make up for lost time, but hopefully it will give him piece of mind for the rest of the time he does have left on this earth. That is heartbreaking to know our system is so flawed that a man has to spend a quarter of a century in jail for nothing. Where's the real perpetrator? If people weren't so damned lazy and corrupt we wouldn't have these problems.
  6. I recently came across a "game," my friend had called Yourself! Fitness. It is basically an electronic fitness trainer. Her name is Maya and she is interactive. After she creates your profile with the baseline information you provide (age, gender, height, weight, baseline heart rate, heart rate after jumping jacks, the number of sit ups you can do, the number of push ups you can do, etc), she creates a fitness plan for you. She recommends the focus you should take, whether it is to focus on your cardiovascular health, toning, core strength, upper body strength, lower body strength, or weight loss. She asks you which exercise equipment you have at home so that she can modify your workouts accordingly. There are over five hundred exercises, so you will never get bored. There is plenty of variety. Then you choose which days of the week you want to work out with Maya. If you miss a day, she says, "I missed you, where were you," which holds you accountable for missing a workout, unlike a regular workout tape. There is also a meal planner that allows you to enter in the amount of calories you want to consume for each day of the week. After you do that, the program outputs your meal plan which you can then browse. Once you've saved it, it outputs to an html file that you can print, either for a reminder, or a grocery list. The recipes sound delicious and they don't look like they have hard to find ingredients. All recipes have nutritional content, so you can not only count your calories, but cholesterol, sodium, and carbohydrates/sugar, which is very important if you have dietary restricitons. Maya is able to track your progress through workout training and the meals you consume. It is very convenient to have a "personal" trainer in you living room and always accessible. The best part is that my friend bought it for 25 dollars. The program is available for Windows 2000 / XP, XBOX, and Playstation. I am definitely going to buy one. I can't wait.
  7. I was thinking about purchasing a LiteScribe, but the last time I checked they only had one color available, which was black and white. Is color available yet? I think the only way I'd invest in something like that was if the machine could print in color. Otherwise, why would I want all my disks to have that "burned look." I would use it for business reasons, and I feel that color is looks more appealing and "professional."
  8. While I don't feel they deserve it, I do put the blame on the U.S. government. Most of these soldiers are young, and want to make a better life for themselves through the various opportunities that the military provides. I don't believe that 100 percent of them know what they're getting involved in, nor do they understand the premise behind American occupation in Iraq. I think they are brainwashed into thinking a certain way, and therefore I feel sorry for them. As far as this "war" goes, I believe the soldiers are just pawns in Bush's sick and twisted game of World Domination. I cannot wait until the next election. Thank the Lord for the two-term rule. Whoever came up with that is a genius!
  9. I thought about installing this program, but have a hard time understanding the purpose. What exactly is Google Earth for? What can it do?

  11. I think religion and faith are two different things. I don't find anything wrong with having faith in the Diety, but I find certain religions idolation of other figures somewhat unsettling. While I may not agree with it, that doesn't mean I feel comfortable passing judgement on others' religious beliefs. All in all, I feel that if a person is religious and follows certain morales, doesn't go out and cheat, lie, steal, or murder, I'm fine with it.
  12. You're talking about a cultural thing. If Jewish people don't tell their children about "Santa Clause" are you going to crucify them? No, you're not. If parents don't subscribe to your culture in America, they have that right. I have yet to start reproducing, and I am seriously considering changing my holiday preferences to Kwanzaa in which there is no "Santa Clause." There's absolutely nothing wrong with this. That's the beauty of living in a democratic society. Not everyone has to ascribe to the same religion, including holidays and traditions; not everyone is from the same cultural background. And heck, if I don't want some paganistic fat guy in a suit that has nothing to do with Jesus Christ getting all the credit for my family's joy, then that's my perogative.
  13. No matter how many medical or environmental benefits (i.e., Hemp cloth better for environment than cotton) are discovered, mary jane will never be legalized in the united states. The reason I suspect, is that they cannot control it (production, sales, taxes, etc), therefore it is an illegal substance. There is no proof that it's any worse than alcohol, or cigarettes. There is constant influx of promising research, yet it's illegal. Right now they try to regulate and dispense it to cancer patients by prescription, but that's as far as they'll probably go. What I don't understand is how a government can arrest you and throw you in jail for growing a plant. Makes no sense.
  14. I think they used the word "drowned" to get people's attention. The man clearly choked on tea, and it got in his lungs. What I want to know is how old was this man, did he have something wrong with his throat or gag reflex for him to not realize it was going down the wrong tube, where was he (in the hospital or by himself)? I mean there are a lot of factors to consider. That being said, can we have a link?
  15. I guess I'm old school. I just upgraded from the i95 to the i730, and I'm satisfied. I played with my cousin's i860, and didn't like it. It seemed cheaply made, and it made this clicking sound when you try to close it. There is a button on the side that you push to open, very annoying. My hubby has the 7520, and he likes it. I played with it, but I'm more of a simple kind of girl. The blackberry is a little bulky, but I can see it being of use to a business person who always has to stay connected. I just don't find that it would suit all of my needs because it's not the palm os, therefore sans palm applications. If I had my choice I'd go with a different carrier and get a smart phone with the palm os. But the hip side of me wouldn't mind a sidekick - it just seems more fun (camera phone -even though I heard it's grainy quality), and of course I dig the simplistic factor - everything is right there at the push of the button. But seriously, back to Nextel - I have the i730, I'm satisfied, but overall, I think Nextel sucks.
  16. I'm an American, and I tend to agree with this sentiment. I read a book awhile ago that went into depth on the background of Christmas, santa clause, and sinterclaus, etc. I found it interesting to note that much of the celebration came from the desire to boost the economy. It makes perfect sense. Why else would children go around believing some fat man in a ridiculous outfit gave them their presents instead of their hard working parents. At the same time, how do you raise a child into believing the truth from the beginning without making them an outcast. Perhaps it's getting better in the states, with the "acceptance" of various religions and holidays, but it still seems like a very biased world sometimes. All you here about is Christmas this, Christmas that, Santa Clause is coming to town, blah, blah, blah. I guess I'll just have to figure it out when the time comes.
  17. Which phone company is this? To everyone else: is this a way to get free internet service on your cell phone?
  18. What is so special about these phones? I really do not get all the hype. Sure they're thin, but what else is so special about them. Do they have a touch screen? Are they smart phones? Do they have a qwerty keyboard? Do they have PIM applications (ala blackberry/palm)? The answer is probably no to all these questions, so in my opinion, this phone is nothing special. It's really pointless at this time to own something like this. Now if they included all the above features, plus walkie talkie, then they'd have me salivating at the mouth, and first in line to buy a phone like that.
  19. Well Amanda, you probably already figured out what you want to do by now, but just in case, I'll give you my two cents. Personally I've been where you're at with a guy treating you like crap, but you still want to be with him. I've never experienced verbal abuse, and with this additional "problem," I'd have to say, that is something that you should not put up with. In your post, I did not find not one redeeming quality about him. You have not said anything good about him, which leads me to believe that he is all around not good for you. What it comes down to is that you really have to put yourself first. Ask yourself this question: Do you love yourself more than you love him? The goal is to get to a point where you love yourself first. Think about it. If he's putting himself first in the relationship, and you're putting him first, where does that leave you. Do yourself a favor, and buy "The Rules" and some other self help books (namely in the area of self-esteem). You really don't need someone like that stealing your thunder. There are plenty of guys out there that will appreciate you. You don't need that kind of negativity in your life.Good Luck!
  20. First, you probably already figured it out by now, but you need to wash and dry the skin where you are going to apply the patch. Do not put on any lotion as this will make the surface slippery, and the medication will not dispurse into your system properly. As far as the whole addictive nature, nicotine as you know, is very addictive. Basically it acts as a neurotransmitter in your body and release another chemical that tells your body that it feels good. Your body gets used to this "high," and goes through withdrawal when it can't have it anymore. That's what's good about the nictotine patch and gum. Your body is slowly weened from this addicting substance. Make sure what ever you do, do not smoke and use the patch/gum at the same time. This can be a fatal combination. As a final note: You can do it! after quitting, your lungs will become healthier and provided that you do not have an irreversible condition such as emphysema, they will revert back to it's pre-smoking state. If you love yourself and those around you, just know that quitting is the best decision you ever made your life. By the way, in case you wanted to know, that's free advice from an R.N.

    The Sims!

I'm afraid once I start playing, I won't be able to stop. It looks really fun, and really addicting. So is it an online game where you interact with people, or is it a home computer game, or both? I remember browsing on ebay for something, and saw that the seller had bought some fake money called "lind" or something for this online sim game called second life. I thought it was insane for someone to actually pay real money for sim money but realized he or she was probably really addicted. I definitely don't want to get like that.
  22. I knew it! I always suspected that they had a quota of tickets to fill, even though they will deny it until the cows come home. The highway patrol always seems to be out and about during certain times of the month, always in excess. It's like why now? Why are they not out in droves like this every day? That's really sad, because what this tells me is that the city/state is being dishonest, and they are trying to make money of the citizens. I have to wonder where that money actually goes. Probably in their pockets.
  23. I keep seeing commercials for this game, and I get it confused with the Sims. It looks pretty fun though. I'll probably see if they have a trial downloadable version before I commit to purchasing it though. I have to test the goods first.
  24. I would say the PSP is better, because it's really more than a gaming system. There are all kinds of mods and attachments that companies and hackers are coming out with now. I heard that there is this game that provides a back door to the internet. Supposedly the internet is going to be an upgradable service provided by Sony, but game whizzes/hackers figured out how to get it through this game called "wipeout." There is also this personal video recorder attachment that is out, in which you can attach it to a television or dvd player and record straight to the device (onto a memory card), and then insert the memory card into your PSP, and voila, instant tivo! You can find an article here: PSP Record TV Also for anyone interested in PSP hacks, tutorials, mods, utilities, etc. Click here: PSP hacks Have Fun!!!
  25. I hate everyone elses cell phone except my own I guess it's because I rarely have my on anyway. Plus, when I drive I use speaker phone so I can talk and use the stearing wheel with both hands. I've seen other drivers talking on the phone like they're talking on their home phone. In addition, some of the things that annoy other people, don't really annoy me. Some of my friends say they hate it when they're in line and someone is talking on the phone, so they always get off their cell phone when they go into a store, or the mall. I don't mind it so much, and don't get why it's so annoying to them. Maybe someone can shed some light on this for me. I do concur with the whole camera phone issue. That is definitely a problem, and should be addressed. I remember hearing of a nurse that took a picture of a sleeping patient with her palm pilot. Only the patient wasn't asleep, and she was brought up on charges and fired. People's rights to privacy are definitely being invaded with this new technology. With technology there always comes the abuse of power.
