Why Havn't I Ever Gotten A Virus, Nothing. My death wish, I know it.

I dont know if this is the case, but it sounds to me...you might be going through , 'if i dont go to the docter, there is nothing wrong with me.' But i could be wrong. But how do you really know you dont have a virus, if you do not have a firewall, or a virus detecter? Even if you do safe searching , viruses can pop up. Even, searches made, that were 'innocent' [lack of a better word] can bring in viruses, a lot of free sites contain a lot of viruses, because of the ads. I am a pretty safe internet person , I rarely get a virus, even with using IE, but i use firefox 90% of the time. I get spyware/adaware, but it isn't harmful to my computer, just if anything an invasion of privacy. I get a virus once in a great while, and honestly its when someone else has gone on my computer, more thank likely used IE instead of FF. But i have adaware devices, and virus scans to help me...But id suggest you get one, because if you dont have one [ a virus ] your luck is bound to run out sometime.

Open FireWall !!!! Open Spybot Search!!!! Open AVG antivirus!!!! with this all sure no virus get in ur pc.

well i bet if you installed ur computer with a antivirus i bet you would have a few worms and adware as even firefox wont protect you. the only way you could get away without getting a virus is dont have access to the internet.

My dad's the absolute epitome of a computer-newbie. He loves finding new programs that appear to be cool, and actually end up screwing up his computer. It doesn't help, then, that his entire desktop is cluttered with programs meant to get RID of the bad programs. My method of doing this is somewhat different. For one, I don't download things I don't need. I use Firefox with add-ons like Dutchblock, Fasterfox, etc. I check for spyware, adware, and viruses at least once a week. I mean, that's only going to take care of the evident problems you have. Viruses are a lot sneakier than that. No one's computer is truly clean, but at least I think I'm on the right track.

you've probobly got a ton of adware though. look for a free download of "adaware" on http://download.cnet.com/windows/ to find and remove it.

Do you go on your PC alot?

I've only had one virus before, and it as relativly minor. But if you use your c for busness then its usually better to be safe than sorry.

you probably have tons of viruses you don't know about. the same has happened to me. and i also use limewire. limewire itself doesn't give viruses. you have to download either porn or something illegal to get viruses on limewire. i suggest you download a free antivirus and make sure you don't have one.

I am not very security-concious; I do however keep what ever programs I run for security up to date. One trick I learned from my dad is to use a limited user (under Windows 2000 and XP) for day to day work, and only log on as an admin user when necessary. This is because a program running under your user can only do as much as you personally can, and if you are a limited user, then the virus/adware/spyware/whatever won't be able to do much (if anything) that could damage your computer. I have 2 firewalls behind my machine; the one in Trend Micro PC Cillin' Internet Security and the one in my Linksys wireless router.

I understand the feeling. Try checking out the program SpaceMonger. It's very handy for finding where the majority of your space is, folder-wise.

Anyway, never getting a virus is a good thing, and pretty hard to do. The easiest way to avoid them would be to avoid visiting any sites that are not completely 100% trustworthy, but that can't always be done.

I personally learned a (somewhat) complicated trick to use the registry to find and kill viruses before they can do anything to your computer.

Most viruses do use Internet explorer these days to launch themsleves of embed themselves into startup. But the odds that you havent had a single virus is slimmer than the odds that u havent caught a single virus, especially given the fact that u dont have any antivirus tools on your computer.

Sorry to say so, but that is almost impossible, well, yes, almost, so it could be possible, but to tell you the trueth, i have difficulties beleaving that you never catch a virus.At least you catched a couple of worms, that is impossible to escape, unless you are not connected to the 'net.And if you think that firefox is 100% secure, think again, crackers started to work for firefox, for a few years now, and it is a matter of time untill it becomes what internet explorer came to be (100% insecure)!

Probably you have a lot of them but you don?t notice (which is good luck, anyway). The other way it would be too much luck... like if you had been touched by God or something.

I was just having some problems with a certain type of pop-up over the past couple of weeks. I'd been doing regular scans with ad-aware and spybot search and destroy, so I thought that was all that was wrong with my computer. I sent in my log to one of those helper forums and, boy, was I ever wrong! I had all kinds of viruses and spyware on my computer that weren't actively doing anything that I was noticing. It took three days of instructions to clear everything of my machine! And now everything works much better. I had just gotten so used to the way things were running.

this also happened to me. at one stage i hadnt turned off my pc for months and during that time i didnt receive a sigle virus. i surfed, dled and used IM applications. i think i was just lucky, the next time aroun i received about 15 viruses in just a week. now i use firewalls, firefox, anti-virus and anti-spyware software. i dont have any problems, my pc loads up at the same speed everytime. hasnt crashed or frozen in a long time, doesnt lag either. i'm pt happy with the state of my computer atm. ;]
