Plenoptic 0 Report post Posted May 18, 2006 That is a very nice little site OpaQue. Good job on making it. I am sure a lot of people will appreciate having that here at Xisto to help get their site going. At first I thought you set up a place to download like coding scripts but this is still better. Nice work
Avalon 1 Report post Posted May 18, 2006 Looks good, but what is required in the "Reciprocal Url" field? I'm trying to suggest a link but I can't get past that field.
Sprnknwn 0 Report post Posted May 18, 2006 So, this is to make a list of Xisto sites or something? It?s a great idea. But I also don?t know what is that "reciprocal" thing... and I suppose no one knows (besides Opaque) because the only two links are Xisto and Xisto ones. rvalkass 5 Report post Posted May 18, 2006 The reciprocal link is just a link to a page on your site that has a link back to Trap 17 on it. You have to have this code somewhere on your site: <a href="http://forums.xisto.com/ Web Hosting</a>Then you set the reciprocal link to the page with that code on it.Brilliant site Opaque and hopefully we will end up with a list of most of the sites here at Trap 17.Do we know how long it takes Alexa to get the picture to appear? Avalon 1 Report post Posted May 18, 2006 The reciprocal link is just a link to a page on your site that has a link back to Trap 17 on it.That was what I thought, but that didn't seem to work. No matter what I entered in that field it didn't want to accept it.
AnGeL KiSS 0 Report post Posted May 18, 2006 Wait im not really getting it, so we just link you and you link OUR site back on there? Lol
Kubi 0 Report post Posted May 18, 2006 It's really nice. Love it. I didn't understand the reciprical url thing, so I just entered Xisto.com. Whoops? I better edit it, or resubmit, Ionno.
mayank 2 Report post Posted May 18, 2006 well, It's nice to have this link exchange script.I see that some members have already started to get clicks :)Well, if it can be updated then it'll be nice, the reason is that it shows the Alexa's snapshot of the webpage...is it possible to put our own - it will be a nice choice for those who dont have any alexa rating (just like me)

OpaQue 15 Report post Posted May 19, 2006 The RECIPROCAL link tab is the place where we check if there is a link back to Xisto.com :-)
Avalon 1 Report post Posted May 19, 2006 The RECIPROCAL link tab is the place where we check if there is a link back to Xisto.com :-)So, if I have a link at http://www.mudmall.com/, that is the URL I should put in there? That is the URL I was trying to put in and it wouldn't accept it. Does it have to be a text link perhaps?
BuffaloHelp 24 Report post Posted May 19, 2006 For example, you placed following backlink to Xisto in your index.html page <a href="http://forums.xisto.com/ Hosting</a> , the text line for URL would be your domain, i.e. yourpage.com and RECIPROCAL URL would be yourpage/index.html  I'm not sure if this advice would be true but if you have other Xisto links in that page, try making backlink to Xisto the first one. When I was registering for GFXTrap.com, I had to try few times until I made sure that http://forums.xisto.com/ was the first link before http://forums.xisto.com/ showed up. I haven't had the chance to study the link exchange script but perhaps the crawler sees the first keyword "Xisto" and if it's any different, it rejects it. Dooga 0 Report post Posted May 19, 2006 That's wierd, the page just goes to a 404 error after I submit.
BuffaloHelp 24 Report post Posted May 19, 2006 Try it again, dooga. I just added Xisto and it worked just fine. Here's a thought: if you have robots.txt that disallows a crawler to visit a directory, but you assigned reciprocal page within that directory you need to change your reciprocal page to place that is not blocked for crawlers.
