Hey, this is new information. I don't know whether you use Photoshop or not, but anyway, after reading your favicon.ico thread, I realised that I need to change my own favicon.ico on my site as well, because it is the default Drupal one. It turns out that Photoshop does NOT support .ico files, but I have read somewhere that there are tools out that that is able to covert you picture for you, and I tried it and it worked. Okay, so here are the steps.... 1) Firstly, make a 16 x 16 (pixels) picture on any image creator (like Photoshop or Paint or any free software on your computer) 2) Secondly, save it as a .jpg or a .png file. I think that .png would be better because it allows a transparent background. Doesn't apply to me, but anyway, I still use .png over .jpg because I like it better and I think it has better quality. :D 3) Search Google for "Favicon Generators". Alternatively, you can go here: http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ Because I used this site, I will continue the tutorial with this site.... I love it a lot!!! 4) Upload your premade 16px X 16px onto the site. 5) Wait until the website loads again. 6) Now, you won' t be able to see it there. You will have to scroll DOWN to get your prize. Took me a little while to figure that out. Download the image. It should be in .ico format... 7) Upload it up onto your site via FTP. I don't know, I use the Drupal CMS, so I only had to upload it. But it seems like if you are not using any CMSs, you may have to do some coding, like what rvalkass did, and alternatively, (again), there are instructions on the website that I have provided if you scroll down to the bottom as well.... And that's all I can do for you. The rest is up to you... Good luck with your favicon.ico!!! Check out the one I have made on my site/blog. Rather plain, but I like it.

Wow.... what's with all the professional coding??? o_0But anyway... yeah, like the two different moderators said, if you want to get a favicon for your site, you will have to create a image that ends with .ico instead of the normal extensions like .png and .jpg. I believe that you can do that on photoshop, though I'm not sure.... :-/ But anyway the main problem will be getting the image favicon to end in a .ico extension. Of course, if you can't do that, you can always use rvalkass's pro coding skills and intergrate that into your site.... :)Good luck!!!! :D

Haha, I'll make my signature smaller then. I'm not disappointed with the number of visitors at all, The Dark Hacker. You got me wrong... I'd just like to know how you got so many visitors in such a short time, but seeing that you are using social networking sites like Facebook and mySpace, I know that this is not an option for me, so I was just speculating what I can do apart from the normal alternatives... And for one, I am using Drupal, not Wordpress.... :D And for two... yeah, I know that it is there. I put it there myself as my footer. Blocks are meant to be able to identify HTML tags, but it seems like it is not working, and the style.css isn't working either. So I am just putting it there for the time being until I find the right place to put the code in.... You just got me wrong, The Dark Hacker....

Hmm... thanks... I'll check that out. I'd use Ping as well though, if it wasn't for the fact that my cron isn't working and hasn't been working for the past few weeks... Boo hoo. I wonder why. But Ping- o-matic sounds really good. Argh!!! I didn't know you had to register at those sharing post sites to put them on... alright... I'll do that... Once I get up to 5 posts, that is... I'll find a way to edit my blog theme for the entrecard widget and I'm sure that the people on Xisto will help me up vote them... But thanks so much...
-
Yeah, well, I'm using the views cloud module. It's meant to do exactly what you said (different font sizes) with flash, but it doesn't seem to be working... but I guess it doesn't really matter now... Like you said, that's something for the future. And yes. I will get a regular schedule and stick to it. I will probably not be listening in class and typing up my blog posts anyway.... That was exactly what I did for the "river" post. I'd like it if that post became popular though. I liked that one a lot. (By the way, the Share This module doesn't seem to be working. But I've made an account on Drupal.org right now, and I'll be able to participate in their discussions.... YES! Apparently it doesn't really working at the moment. But anyway... I'm trying to find a way to create three more blocks in the footer thing. It's so hard because this theme is basically empty, so I can't even find the text file for creating blocks.... )

Coolio!!! Thanks! I didn't know that... But now I know... But thanks for removing my topics for me... Haha, yes, it was... we had to so a project on anything on commerce and I made a website. It was pretty rushed, actually. I was still working on it on the day, and I had to hand it in late, but luckily I didn't get any marks taken off, and the teacher like it and sent it in to be judged... Well, I wouldn't want LOTS of people to look at it. I mean, it is very regional and only applies to a certain state in a certain country, so I will be using a NOT a top level domain instead (and hence the co.cc in the example) Haha, it's meant to be for teens and they are meant to be for my target audience. And this is a site that tells them how to avoid scams, so if they are in reality, stupid enough to click on a site with a name like that, then they will easily get scammed in real life. Which is why I made that my site title. Though it wouldn't look good as an URL though. Like I said, this isn't going to be a popular website. In fact, the only people that will be going into this site will either be people that happen upon my blog and then into my "projects" page and got interested, or people that were initially interested in this website in the first place, like the people that I am doing this for... And the reason why I chose "scamproof" is because there is a "scamproof" button in my site... That make the perfect example why people and how people get scammed... Haha, maybe I might do that for my blog. But not for this. Because basically no one will want to got there anyway. Like I said, it is very regional and only applies to a certain number of people, and if they wanted information on how to not get scammed or how to get rid of a scam that they got into quite badly, they would be looking for information on a government website, not am eye-catching, bright coloured website like mine...

My Audition Online Website =] Wanna rate?
Nameless_ replied to FouGilang's topic in Websites and Web Designing
Haha, I guess that's a problem, I suppose. It's a good think my website doesn't have any traffic apart from the people from Xisto and only one of my friends though. Once it gets popular then the amount of spam will then go up and I will have to do something about that.... And yeah... the old template was REALLy awfull... no jokes... Especially the hide and show site thingy... But it's all good now. -
NOTE: I really don't know what happened but I posted this thread up before and there seems to be a problem. Not the first time. So I will be posting this thread up again... Thanks and I'm very sorry for that... I have posted it on website discussions (the sub forum) but it didn't work twice, so I have no choice but to post it here in the questions and queries section again. Treat this as a query... Thanks. Hello people... This is just going to be a quick thread. Some people that I trust on this forum already know this, but recently I have gotten a prize for a website that I have made on commercial scams... many of my friends and their families online want to have a look at what I have done, but I don't want to give them a copy for everyone, as that will be too much of a bother and it will take a long time. And people will be asking why certain people already have access to it and other don't have a copy yet... So therefore, I have thought up of a solution: Put it up online!!! This way, everyone can then have access to it, and fully enjoy the links properly. I did this in Microsoft Frontpage 2003, by the way, soo... it's not that good... Haha, I'll put it on the showcase once it's up. The problem is that I don't know what to call it. I mean, my website name is officially "This is not a Scam!", but when you put it like this: thisisnotascam.co.cc (or any other URL extension) it doesn't look good at all... so I was thinking of something like scamproof or something. I mean, I will definitely be keeping this website up online (with a free host, of course.... ), and maybe use Adsense on it (haha, I am so evil sometimes), so I want a good domain name for it that actually looks good. Will "scamproof" do the job, or are there any other suggestions? Or should I just use thisisnotascam? Thanks for any incoming advice...

Haha, OK, thanks. I have successfully added the tags thing on my site, but for some reason drupal seems to make it seem like "Categories" instead... Oh well, as long as it works... I mean, have you read my first official post? One of the tags was "river". I really do hope that my categories won't turn out to be something like that ("river") instead.... :)Haha, anyway, I have now change my signature to my site's URL. I hope that I will be able to keep up with blogging once every two days!!! :D and I hope that this site will last me for the rest of my life....
-
Haha, good luck with all that colour change though... I wish my family had mySpace and Skype. I personally don't have it, and neither does my family, so I guess I won't be able to promote my website like that that way.... Argh... But anyway. Content comes first, of course.... I hate changing the coding though, especially the colour if it goes wrong. SO I wish you the very best luck of it. Of course, the satisfaction that you get after your change any coding successfully is worth all the trouble, I suppose... Like what I did with my shoutbox. Now I'll have to do things the traditional way. I suppose I can promote it at school, but maybe I'll print lots of posters with my site's URL on it and stick it around everywhere, the traffic light posts, some random walls, flyers, etc, etc.OK, maybe not THAT old fashioned... but you know what I mean. I'll add my site's URL to my signature on all forums that I register in, and my email signature and all that and hopefully someone will notice.

(another) I Need Some Help On Chinese Translation um... please?
Nameless_ replied to FouGilang's topic in General Discussion
Haha, glad I at least helped you a little on this one.... I love helping people if I can, and it's not always I can do something like that on a forum like this, especially one on technical website hosting stuff where I am ( I don't consider myself as a total newbie though now...) a new person to all this and knows SOME knowledge (still have lots to learn, I'm afraid), and especially where I am prone to having technical problems all the time. But anyway... good job with your site!!! I checked out the new template all thanks to your last shout in my shoutbox... A very good job, I must say. I've posted on your showcase thread as well, so you might want to check that out. -

Hey, I checked your site through the shoutbox of MY site blog and then saw the new template before I saw this thread (again)... great work man!!! I like this new template a lot, and if I must say, it is ten times, if not twenty times, more better than your old one. The whiter and cleaner background lets us see your text more clearly, (though I don't understand a word of it, of course ), and I love your template a lot... And I really mean it... Congratulations!!! Too bad I couldn't post without registering an account, man. I'd shout a positive comment on it... no point in getting an account if I don't understand the words and the only point is to shoutbox though.... Good work!!! Hey, maybe I should put my website up for showcase and suggestions after I have a few more new posts too, huh? Haha, anyways, post two will be coming in tomorrow.... -
Thanks for the information... I don't think I'll get any more replies to this thread... but anyway, I have bookmarked this page!!! Thanks for all the information. I will proceed to add my blog to those blog directories after I have a few more posts... won't take long, I promise. Maybe a week or two, I aim to have at least ten posts...Maybe I'll do it by the end of this month... THANKS!!!
-
ARGH!!! NOOOOO!!!! ARGH!!! Beta two already!!!! ??? Boo hoo!!!! I'm sad now.... :DI knew you would beat me to it... I guess I just think too much and procrastinate a lot as well... Anyway, I'm sticking to one post every two days... (is this a bit too little?), because unlike your site, ideas don't come more than twice a day on philosophy... but anyway, the width should be wider, and the post should be easier to read.... I like things really plain and simple though, so that might just be me, but I like things to be functional as well.Your site is rather functional, but not quite simple and plain enough. Pictures and images would be nice too, if you can intergrate that into your site.Anyway, some feedback... I like the template, but I think it could do better if it has a white background... and it looks rather croweded for some reason. A wider theme would be great. Check out the other technical themes that are rather popular and you will understand what I am talking about. ANd Hey, how did you get some many visitors already? I'd like to know your secret.... Boo hoo....

Heya people... Another help thread from Nameless_, and more will be coming from the future as I get my site up and running... This time, it is about putting my blog posts into the right places... so, I have started on my blog yesterday, and I have read somewhere before that I am meant to put my blog posts into different places, like, right into the bloggosphere to get the most traffice. Somethine like digg it and so on, and I am meant to put my blog into diifferent sites as well... I understand that some sites might be best to put my blog in AFTER I have quite a number of posts, but I would like to put my posts into sites like digg it as I post so I won't have to catch up with the number of posts that I have missed before... Can someone put down the lists of websites that I am meant to put my blog and my blog posts there? Also, I see that many sites have things like RSS buttons and all that, as well as a "Share this post on Facebook, mySpace, Reddit, digg it, etc, etc, etc" How do I put something like that into my drupal template? Thanks for all your help, everyone.... More questions coming.... ARGH!!! So stressed. :D
-
Yes!!! I found the thread that I was looking for that I made in my own profile... I'm sorry I haven't been able to reply earlier... A big thank you to both xpress and rvalkass for giving me the options!!! I am now using xpress's method to create my static pages, like content, and about, and yet I will be using rvalkass's for my blog posts, so I won' t have to write in a path everytime I make a post.... :oThank you very much!!! If I have any more problems on this, I will post up here again... Thanks...
-
ARGH!!! I know, right? I always do that... :D One step at a time, of course... this is what happened to me three years before and the reason why I am starting this blog so late. I will listen to you... again for the tenth time or something. I can't do that again... OK, I'll start blogging TODAY. And I mean it... I still can't think of any new categories... but Hmm... And no, I don't know how to do that yet... making names sound not generic... rvalkass, how do I do that? Hmm... OK, thanks... I'll see if that works, and if it doesn't, I'll see what I can do over the next few days... I'm sure it won't be too much of a problem if I catch up with all the posts that I will do (once every two days) with all the tagging and all that... Oh, and by the way, like anwii said... how to I make the URLs automatically non-generic and readable by search engines? I believe that this is important, and I think that you gave me something like that before.... I just don't like the date bit... but anyway... I suppose that doesn't matter either... the only problem is FINDING the name of that module... ARGH!!! At least I got the first post done.... I'm not sure if the name is good though. Give me new suggestions if you think the name isn't as good as it can be...

Heya people. You may have noticed lately that my name hasn't been as active as they were before for the past few days... No, I haven't been away, but I have been working on my new and first site, a philosophical blog that aims to inspire people and look at the world... um... the way I look at it... :)I believe that this blog is rather unique, because in all the philosophical blogs that I have come across, they are, to me, rather boring, and uses a lot of technical words. I want to show this world what I, as a previous primary student and a current teenager, look at this world myself...However, to make things easier, I want to catergorized my blog posts into categories... the problem is this, however. I don't know how to categorize my blog posts...... Unlike the "normal" philosophy that you learn in university and all that, like natural philosophy, um... political philosophy, and so on and so on, my posts will be slightly different, and I don't know how to categorize them... I don't know how slightly different they are too... :DThey will be about like, the meaning of life, how we fit into this society, to other trivial things like the bee I saw the other day that made me think of something about life and how science fits into this world and all that... How do I categorize all that?Does anyone have any idea(s) on how I am to catergorize all my blog posts? I have written my first blog post but I haven't published it yet, because I want to get this done first... I don't want anyone copying it, but this is probably one of the "very different" blog posts that I have written. So I am trusting you people... If you are interested, PM me and I will mail it to you... and you can tell me how to categorize that... and you can also get an idea of the posts that I will be making on my blog... THANKS!!!Also, this is out of topic, but it is related to my blog... How can I enable categorization and free tagging in drupal???Thanks.... for all your help, I hope I didn't take too much of your time to get this message across to you...

(another) I Need Some Help On Chinese Translation um... please?
Nameless_ replied to FouGilang's topic in General Discussion
Haha, sorry for the very very late delay. My internet is rather stuffed lately, I really don't know why, so it's very slow and I couldn't even get of Xisto some times, because of this. So this is why I will be posting less more lately, Anyway, why don't we get on with the translation? Okay, these are artists and the song singers and writers from the right hand side column, from the top to the bottom: Zao an shao nu zu (Good Morning Young Girl Band) ***words in the list that is english: SM Town, Someday, Miracle, Bada, Dream I, Flying Girls Li Xiu* Gen (It's a proper chinese name, so you can't translate. I am not sure of the middle character though, I hope you can find him/her. Good luck!!!) ***words in the list that is english: 2NE1 Zhu Bao li (nor sure on third character, proper name in Chinese so no translation) ***words in the list that is english: LPG, Bada, 2NE1, Jewelry, Jewelry, B2Y, Namolia Family Jin Zhen Mei (again, not sure of the third character, but I found her on google, I think... chinese name, no translation) ***words in the list that is english: SS501, Tiara Ming Ca Live (First character means the light of the moon, or just light) Da Jia Ai (Everybody Love) ***words in the list that is english: Super Junior ARGH!!! The last ones are hard... :D Miss one Miss two Yuan something Lan and Wu Zhong Yuan something Lan *these are all plain chinese names, so there is no translation... ***words in the list that is english: TANK Haha, sorry, I not only replied late, I also did a bad job at that - translating, I mean - but anyway, sorry, I hope that I can post this up... Better late than never, right? argh... -
Hmm... thanks for the information.... I can now edit my links now... but I have a problem. Say that I will be creating blog posts like, every two days when I start, am I meant to write that in the URL path settings every time, or should I follow rvalkass's advice and do what he suggests? Also, if I am to write the name of the URL into the URL path settings, do you think I should leave a space in between the words or just put them together? I know that Xisto has a hyphen in between the links though... which one do you think would be best for SEO? Thanks for you advice... Nameless. Yeah, I can see that, but I don't like the fact that there is a date in the URL as well... though I am not sure what to do with my blog or anything, and what method would be best for SEO. If you have any reccomendations, please say them to me... Thanks... I mean, I don't mind writing something in the URL Path Settings thingy everytime I post something, but I also wouldn't mind if that module does the same thing or make better SEO results for me... What do you think?

(another) I Need Some Help On Chinese Translation um... please?
Nameless_ replied to FouGilang's topic in General Discussion
ARGH!!! Another list!!! Haha, no worries... I'll see what I can do... OK, starting from the left column from the top till down... The titles (the blue buttons things at the top, from left to right): Ge Qu Ming (Song Name) Ge Shou (literally Song Hand, but it means the singer or the artist) ***words in the list that is english: BPM ( Beats per minute) Song Names: Mao Pei Chi Ai (I'm not sure about this, both the translation and the romanji (pingyin)... but... risk something love?... sorry. ) 12 Dian 34 Fen Qi (From 12:34 - the time, of course. ) ***words in the list that is english: Always, BeastieBoy, Dance Mission, Dream, Girl's Hot, Happy Song, I don't care, Lalala, Lucky Girl, MAD, Pretty Boy, Strong Girl, Vari2ty Ai Ya! (Ah!!! - like an onomatopoeia, its an expression of surprise in Chinese) Bei Xi Yin (I like this one - Got attracted - it's like you got attracted to the food or flowers or something nice) Bu shi ni (Not You) Bu yao hai pa (Don't be scared) Huang Hua (I swear I translated this before.... Lies) Leng Mian (Cold Face, or the Cold Side) Xing Xiang Yi (Huh? I don't know the translation for this, but the "romanji -pingyin" should be pretty right.) Wo the bao bei (My treasure) Shan Shan ni ren ai (I'm not sure if it is ni or not... but the translation is something like "Twinkle Twinkle, make people love [you]" Xin Yuan Bian Li Zhang (I'm not sure about this either, but I made a pretty good guess and then search it up on the internet. Translation don't know... sorry. ) 99 Ci wo ai ta (I love him/her 99 times) Zhong Ji Yi Ban (Hard to translate, but it literally means - The end one class) I'll work on the singers next... Bear me for a while. -
Quick Question: What are CPC, CPM and PPV companies? ---------------------------------------- In reply to the thead: Yeah, I suppose it is illegal to do something like this, and Google can easily find out... but I suppose people still do it anyway, especially if that can get their hands on a dynamic IP internet provider or something like that. Plus, even the person that is receiving the money can click on it too... if they go to their friend's house, or in they go the one of those free internet services in the airports, or even if they go into an internet cafe... You can never stop things like that, I suppose. And even if there is a finger printing technology that may be able to identify who is using the computer and when, people can still click on each other's site, even if they have to lengthen their clicks over long periods of times.... And plus, like bk2070 said, they're not the first group. Lots of people do that too, I suppose...
-
Haha, OK then... yes, I want lots of visitors... so I guess that is the best method... I can't believe how much I always limit myself with my thinking. I guess I can learn one lesson out of this: Think outside the box!!! There is more than one occasion when that happened, like me trying to install my drupal onto the site and all that... But anyway, OK... I get the point now, and I understand your explainations. If I put the pro and cons together, yours is better than mine. Now, I just need to work out how to fit it all in together... But thanks for your advice.
-
well, it is rather easy to advertise, I guess... especially by the way you make it sound. But anyway, I guess I am just thinking things for the long term, because it is hard to move my content from one host to another, hard to move my content to another new domain name should I ever need to, and it is hard to get all my traffic to go there in the future and I will lose lots of my readers should that happen. So I want things to be as perfect as possible when I start so that I can avoid as many problems in the future that I might face in the future because of these decisions... And no, I don't want a blog that describes myself... I just want a blog where I can share my philosophy ideas to everyone... From mahesh2k Yeah, I suppose so... But I want the welcome thing on my site as well... how am I meant in intergrate that into my blog as well if I am to blog on it anyway? Plus.... wouldn't it be rather wierd if the rest of the site is dark grey and only the home page is rather white? If it is the other way round with my blog as white, then I'd understand, but having the home page (my blog in this case) look different from everything else in my other sites looks wierd then... :D Remember, this is not only a blog. I still need to put my creative projects in, and I need the dark grey background to put my photos in... unless I can find a way to make a custom dark grey background for every photo that I put on... do you understand what I mean? I'm sorry if it's a bit confusing though... :( But anyway... quite a few points there. I would be very grateful if you gave me advice on all of the points that I have just made...

Heya, this is a quick question on the nodes of Drupal... in case you don't know, each item of content in drupal is called a node... and the problem is this: Question: Whenever I make new content like a page on Drupal, the URL of the webpage is always http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/, and after that, when I make a new one, it becomes http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/, and so on and so on. So even if I make a "project" page or a "content" page, it will come out as http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ and http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/... which is really annoying because I want it to be something like this: http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ or http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ Does anyone have any idea how to do this and sort my problem out? Thanks for any advice and information that I get. I appreciate that... That is the only reason why I haven't created a "about" page, a "project" page or a "contact" page yet. It is holding me back and I don't like that...
