You use math in all of your examples. Technically, the phrase "goes on forever" can be substituted for that which is declared infinite. Yet, is "infinity" merely a concept or is it possible to prove? You can't show that your math equations are logical. And while it may not be necessarily safe to assume that the universe is infinitely big, people would have a hard time picturing running into a "wall" at the end of the universe. Can something go on forever, or must all things come to an end? If there is no such thing as something that is infinite, then wouldn't it follow that proving that something cannot go on forever is easy? Or would finite, then, be hard to prove? You may be able to show in theory that infinity is hard to impossible to prove, but doing so does not necessarily mean that you have shown that there can only be finite. This example allows for no form of income tax to be levied at a person.

Did Darwin Kill Religion? Evolution disproves creationism?
truefusion replied to dangerdan's topic in General Discussion
Darwin wasn't posting up anything new, though. It was actually a current craze from those around him as well. Also, i hear it can be traced back to ancient times, where some Greek fellow brought up "from monkey to man." I hear the reason why Darwin is often marked as the father of this is because of how he described everything in his book. Who says religion and faith is unreasonable or can't be used as a starting point for scientific research or that it doesn't mention anything scientific? Science and religion aren't at odds. -
Are Non-english Sites Allowed On My Site?
truefusion replied to The Simpleton's topic in Web Hosting Support
I don't think it can be called a translation if it is not public. But according to the TOS, an English version is required to ease the process of figuring out if your website is doing something illegal or not. For that reason, i don't think those that work for Xisto would take the time to search through all your files just to see if it's in English; that is, i would just expect them to visit the site, and if it isn't in English, declare it as not complying with the TOS. -
How Can I Display Unicode Charecters In Dreamweaver.
truefusion replied to contactskn's topic in Programming
Dreamweaver should already support Unicode. See what encoding your website is using. That is, see if you have the following in the header: <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8"/>If you don't, then the browser is most likely defaulting to Latin-1. You have to inform the browser what character encoding to use. -
Are Non-english Sites Allowed On My Site?
truefusion replied to The Simpleton's topic in Web Hosting Support
Right, but i wouldn't see that as a problem, since your site (unless i'm mistaken) is geared towards those who understand Finnish. But if we were to use as an example websites who use a domain name that doesn't describe their website that are in English, like Xisto.com (), you would see no problem either. An add-on is, i would say, unnecessary. -

As far as i understand the TOS, it does not apply to the domain name, just the website. -

The Terms of Service says they have to be in English. You can have the website in a different language so long as you provide an English translation. -
Spammers... Oh, my god... Here are very much spammers.
truefusion replied to stefan_pavikevik's topic in General Discussion
I always find it a bit comical when they send a personal message to a staff member. But these events imply that there is a person registering these accounts, unless the bots have become very advanced where they can get passed most captchas. However, in either case, i am uncertain how a bot would interact with the forums or if a person did all of this manually. It is possible that there are bots out there that were made to analyze certain specific forums only. Since programmers and user interface designers tend to follow patterns in their designs, one may expect common sense phrases like, "Send Message" or "Send PM," et cetera for many, if not most, versions of the scripts released. But one would have to figure out if the bot (assuming it is a bot) dives into a topic to search for these things. I would say that would be a method done as a last resort, since the index page should be enough. The reason why the index page would be enough is, i would say, due to the fact i previously mentioned: that there is a design pattern for these scripts. The design pattern here would be the simple URLs, in this case being the member's URL: <username>-m<memberID>.html. After navigating to that page, the chances of finding yet another specific pattern are increased if not assured. If we follow this assumed pattern that these PM spam bots would take, then we can get a hint on the times they generally attack based on the members they attack, since people often have a general sleeping pattern. But to talk about more on the member's profile page, whether or not JavaScript is required to expand the drop down menu (i.e. on this version of the forums) is irrelevant if the bots can parse HTML. An alternative to displaying these menus to prevent bots from accessing the contents of these menus is to have JavaScript fill the element with the content upon click. The only way, then, for a bot to access this information is to become more advanced or for a human to be doing all of this. Though it is a lot harder to prevent a human from doing all of this manually, we can at least annoy them, just like they annoy us, with these extra measures we can take. -
Did Darwin Kill Religion? Evolution disproves creationism?
truefusion replied to dangerdan's topic in General Discussion
This propaganda is irrelevant to the discussion and would never hold in a proper debate. You could have at least added premises to your statements, especially the second statement, rather than begging the question, so that it can at least be a little bit relevant to the discussion. -
Running Webservers With Home Ip Address
truefusion replied to longtimeago's topic in Computer Networks
If you have a program installed on your computer that listens to port 80, then anyone who knows your IP address will run into that program if they try to reaching that address through a browser. If you want to prevent access to your self-hosted website, then either install a firewall that prevents access to port 80 or change the port number so that people will have to guess the port number to access your self-hosted website. -
Ubuntu 9.04 Frequent Internet Problem
truefusion replied to The Simpleton's topic in Operating Systems
Which run level(s) did put the script to run on? Run levels 3 and 5 are the only ones i know of that support networking. Try installing gpppon (or any other similar frontend) in the meantime to see if this reduces inconveniences. If it is possible to use DHCP instead of what you are currently using, then try connecting using DHCP. -
Ubuntu 9.04 Frequent Internet Problem
truefusion replied to The Simpleton's topic in Operating Systems
What's "pon" and why do you need to use it to connect to the internet?By the way, if you create a bash script that has the command "pon dsl-provider" in it in the directory /etc/init.d/ and at it to a run level that loads while booting the system, then you wouldn't need root privileges, that is, you wouldn't need to use sudo. Or at least in theory this should work. -
Cooler Master HAF 932 I have purchased this case, and i am here to provide a review on the case. Now, this beast is quite a case—quite big indeed. Though it has a military theme, it is a very nice looking theme. I didn't think i would like the side view window and the honeycomb ventilation on the side, but it makes the case look very nice. Unfortunately, this case does not bring any dust filters, which i find weird after hearing that the 922, the smaller version of this case, does bring dust filters. This case has an overall tool less design and is made mostly out of steel, but not entirely. The specifications say it has a net weight of 13.2kg and a gross weight of 15.4kg. It is slightly heavy, especially after putting in all the computer parts. It has three 230mm fans: one on the top (exhaust), one on the side of the case (intake) and one on the front (intake). It also has a 140mm fan on the back of the case (exhaust). Though it has a lot of fans, the noise produced by it isn't loud and is extremely bearable. Installing the hard disk drives was pretty easy, though you should make sure that you have snapped it on to the holder (if you will call it that) correctly. Optical disk drives install easier and won't move unless perhaps extreme force is exerted to the drives. The 230mm fan at the front has a red LED light. Some of the reviews on Newegg said it was pretty bright; however, to me it is not bright; in fact, the brightest light (after turning off the lights to my room) is the blue LED power light at the front of the case—which is about hundred times smaller than the red LED light. This case, also, has a design that considers water cooling, having two holes in the back of the case and a place near the top front to insert coolant. It also has excellent cable managing features, though i would suggest perhaps getting a power supply unit with long cables. The mount to place the power supply unit, after reading some of the reviews on Newegg, if you have a power supply unit whose fan is at the bottom of the power supply unit, they say that it doesn't pull in much air from the vents the mount has. However, my power supply unit doesn't have a fan at the bottom or top of it, so i don't have to worry about any of that. "HAF" stands for, if i'm not mistaken, "High Air Flow." This case has a lot of ventilation, with also ventilated expansion slots. But although this case does not come with dust filters, i hear that if you bug Cooler Master enough, they'll eventually make some for the case. This case replaced an old case of mine, the Cooler Master Centurion 5. The HAF 932 is about 3 to 4 inches taller than the Centurion 5. Since i am able to install extra fans along with the ones that come with the HAF 932, i took out the ones from my Centurion 5 and stuck them into the HAF 932. This should help cool down the case even more. Also, the top 230mm fan can be removed and replaced with 3 120mm fans (though the third one won't have much of an effect on the case). The 230mm fan on the side of the case and be removed and replaced with 4 120mm fans, too. This may be the last case i purchase. The case came wrapped in a plastic bag, and upon taking it out of the box i felt a lot of static. So before putting any hardware within the case, be sure to touch a metal part of the case to ground yourself. Overall, i'd rate this case 9.4 out of 10.

Did Darwin Kill Religion? Evolution disproves creationism?
truefusion replied to dangerdan's topic in General Discussion
Actually, Charles Darwin wasn't the one to coin the term "survival of the fittest." Charles Darwin was too busy using "natural selection." But they do contradict if the condition evaluates to true (though there are other problems with the first premise). Though the term "uncontrollably" may be a bit ambiguous, i would mark insects to be quite reproductive in an uncontrollable way. Something cannot logically be both true and false at the same time. People were doing that before Charles Darwin's time; for example, Philo of Alexandria, et al. -
ENFp can often be seen as introverts, because sometimes when they take the time to reflect on their lives, they start introverting a bit. However, tests depend on how well you answer them. For example, whenever i take an MBTI test, if i don't give a complete answer, that is, i am given for each question an answer where i have to pick 1 through 5, if i don't pick either 1 or 5 for the answers and go with 2 or 4, there's a 90% chance of the test concluding that i'm an ISTJ. But if i answer either 1 or 5, i get INTJ. However, for the Socionics test i took, i came out INTj—their test was different, though.

Did Darwin Kill Religion? Evolution disproves creationism?
truefusion replied to dangerdan's topic in General Discussion
That's why i said "but not from the premises you provide." However, i wouldn't say the premises you provided actually support his theory. In fact, although i wouldn't necessarily call the first one a premise since it is a conditional statement, the second one pretty much contradicts the first one if the first one were to be true, that individuals reproduce(d) successfully. The reason being that from the first premise we are given the impression that the size of the population of any one species should be significantly bigger than the previous year. But premise two says that it is not significant but about the same size each year. Since the first premise is a conditional statement, if it is not true that all the individuals reproduce successfully, then it would follow onto the second premise. However, there seems to be a false dilemma for premise one, that something is not being considered. For even if individuals (though it generally requires a couple) reproduce successfully, it doesn't necessarily follow that it would be out of control. This would explain premise two. But you should be able to see the dilemma this would bring for the entire argument. With any given argument, if any of the premises are false, so must be the conclusion, because the conclusion relies on the premises. But another thing i noticed is that certain premises are irrelevant or too general to be a premise for the theory of evolution and that certain ones are ambiguous. Take for example the third one. Resources being limited, how is this a case for the theory of evolution? Overpopulation? That wouldn't follow from the premise previous to it. Nevertheless, limited resources could be because of a fire, or no rain for a very long time, or bad cultivation, or bad hunting seasons—there are many reasons why there could be limited resources; it is too general to be a premise. If we move onto the fourth premise, depending on how it is interpreted, it could actually be used as a premise for creationism. However, the fourth premise is ambiguous. What's an individual? And what is it meant by "not exactly the same"? That is, on a molecular level? Or on the naked eye level? Since the last premise requires for number four to be completely understood, until it is understood, number five cannot be reached, so there becomes no point for number 5. Nevertheless, the last one can be used for creationism, but not necessarily in the way a Darwinist would perceive number 5. -
Did Darwin Kill Religion? Evolution disproves creationism?

Did you so happen to get the title of this topic from the BBC documentary? It's the exact same title. The theory of evolution doesn't deny all forms of creationism, but it does imply—but not from the premises you provide, but from Darwin's "big if"—that if there is a god, all that god has done is just create the ingredients for a specific recipe but left these ingredients to themselves to cook themselves to form a meal. Since creationism is mostly, if not always, about the Biblical creation event, the only common ground would be that the stage was set up (i.e. regardless of how it was set up) and that life formed from the ground or existing, non-living matter (a.k.a abiogenesis). The differences is what follows next: one states common ancestry, the other states (or greatly implies) individual creations; one states (or greatly implies) that the abiogenesis occured through natural means, while the other states that it was a miracle that caused it and implies that it would not have otherwise occured without such miracle. There are other reasons, and it is for these reasons that one is fully or mostly or somewhat denied while the other is fully or mostly or somewhat denied. -
Since your question implied that replacing the single quotes with double quotes did not fix the problem, i further examined the modified code you have provided and you didn't close many of the in_array() functions within the if condition. The fix would look like this: <?phpif (in_array(1, $user_info['groups']) || in_array(2, $user_info['groups']) || in_array(3, $user_info['groups']) || in_array(4, $user_info['groups']) || in_array(5, $user_info['groups']) || in_array(6, $user_info['groups']) || in_array(7, $user_info['groups']) || in_array(9, $user_info['groups'])){echo "Welcome to the profile section! ";}else{echo "We are sorry, it seems you don't have access to this page. Please register or login to view this page.";}?>By the way, you should be able to reduce the if condition with: if (in_array(array(1,2,3,4,5,6,7,9), $user_info['groups']))And to answer your other question about a good, free editor: I like to use Geany. In fact, i used Geany's syntax highlight features to figure out your syntax errors.
-
Yeah, you forgot to escape the single quote for the word "don't" in the else block. It's better to use double quotes for the echo and print statements, it makes things easier to work with. You should consider getting an editor that has syntax highlighting, that is, if you don't already have one. If you're modifying these files straight from your account, consider that like a programming taboo.
-
Doesn't SMF already provide this feature? Isn't that similar to making topics? Either way, if you're seeking to make something like an "About Me" page like we have here at the Xisto forums, if SMF doesn't already have that, then that would require (of course) knowledge of the current SMF database structure (mostly to modify certain tables), knowledge of the SMF coding methods (mostly for the sake of reducing redundant code), and modifying certain files, which means knowledge of the SMF file structure.

Nintendo 64 Or Playstation 1...what Was It The Best?
truefusion replied to fermin25's topic in Computer Gaming
For me Playstation had better games than the N64. I don't necessarily judge a console by what kind of graphics it can handle. For the consoles i would normally play RPG games or fighting games like Marvel vs Capcom. Playstation had the Final Fantasy series, Marvel Super Heroes vs Capcom, Metal Gear solid, the Megaman series and a lot of other entertaining titles. N64 had Zelda and a lot of Mario games and Super Smash Brothers. So Playstation would get my vote. -
You gave the impression that it was already built. But this explains everything. You won't be able to reach that speed on only water cooling alone, even if the motherboard is in open air, like with the Antec Skeleton. The speed you posted is the kind of speed that would break many world records, and all of those records used either liquid nitrogen, liquid helium or dry ice (i haven't seen dry ice reach 7 ghz, though). I doubt you'd be able to get over 5 ghz, especially while stable, with open air and water cooling (even though you didn't mention that you were going to put it out in the open).
-
Even if the motherboard is out in the open with water cooling, i have trouble believing this is stable. It would be interesting to see a screen recording of the CPU's temperature and speed while it is performing a decent task.

Do note that if one of the .htaccess files has an error in it, it could cause an internal 500 server error to be generated for the directories (and sub-directories) to where it is located at.

Indeed, i gave out that advice based on my own experience, from the last time i attempted such a separation. I am thankful that the worries of this life (not necessarily my own) made me consider reality again the way i normally do. But i wouldn't call that perception the cause of all problems, because the problems would still be there after reaching full detachment (though through your perception you don't see them). And that's what i realized, though i realized it before, i realized it then more than before, that problems don't solve themselves. Therefore i see it as non-sense to attaining full detachment, since it is really just selfishness. If you seek understanding, then understand. Can i ask you something? It has been intriguing me ever since you have confronted me by telling me to leave myself out of the questions you ask me (though the questions are not necessarily directed to me). Do you believe there can be truth without conflict? That without falsehood there can be truth? Or vice versa? And do you believe that truth is merely an ideal? Or do you believe it can exist outside our own selves? You say truth exists only if we don't bring ourselves into it. (Or do i have you wrong here?) If i have you correct here, then is that not itself an authoritative statement? Aren't you just bringing yourself into this? If i ask the same questions to you that you have been asking me while requesting that you leave yourself out of it, could you answer me? I see the fact that your questioning itself shows that you cannot answer the questions you are asking. Indeed, it is like you say (and i say this seriously): we have nothing other than our own perception, memory and experience, to which we attribute to truth. Leave these things out, and what do we have? Nothing. But, nevertheless, you wondered why i did not answer you. Remove everything, and you are left with nothing. Ironically, we also have to remove the term "nothing" as well, since it is merely a word that we attribute to something—which makes things even more ironic. But if your whole goal is to understand, then you have to bring yourself into things, you have to accept the existence of ideals (not necessarily the ideals themselves, just their existence), for even if you remove everything, you are left with the idea of nothing, which is not only part of me but also part of you and everyone else. Therefore, what is truth to you? You have rules to obtaining truth and understanding, don't you? Indeed, or else why am i advised to follow them? Yet, though by these rules one is to leave these things out, what would be truth to you? Can you answer me? What is truth (to you)? As mentioned earlier, remove everything, and you have nothing. Therefore i see nothing; you have showed me nothing.
