  1. I use my computer for many things. I have installed two OS Windows XP and Linux Mandriva LE 2005. I use Windows mostly for playing games, writing articles, letters, stuff like that, I use it also for editing PHP files (for my website) I didn't found yet, or maybe better I haven't searched for an PHP editor for Linux, maybe I've it already installed but I don't use linux that much. And than also for uploading files to my webpage. Basic use Than linux. I'm using it just for internet and some experimenting (I'm trying to learn by myself to use the run command and stuff like that, I'm still a newbie nothing serious.

    Hi!

You can be shure! I'm here pratically every day
  3. I didn't had enough time to find an appropriate skin for the forum (now is the default one), I had some problems setting it up. The web site was originaly set up about 15 days ago, but I messed up the code when I tryed to change phpBB forums with IPB so I had to install it all over again. I added some new skins (for the website not for the forum yet), but you have to be registered to choose them.
  4. Tanks for suggestions! I'll do some corrections
  5. There were many experiments done like this, but I'm not shure if they're avaliable yet. But soon in the future will be hearing a lot of them I guess. I was (one month ago) in Germany where were the United Games of nations (they were at the same time also here in Slovenia, Austria, Check republic, Serbia, Hungary). We were talking about the looking of cities in the future. And the talking was going also around this systems and other things regarding technology. We wanted to solve the problem of pollution in big cities, by making big houses build together in flats (every flat is indipendent-has everything) and in every house there is also the work area -> there's no more fisical work, but everything can be done using computer, conected into your work network. There were many ideas about this systems and I must say that it was very interesting. Maybe you can realize this ideas in future
  6. I've set up my website based on PHP-Nuke. I've added some other things on it. Please check it and post what do you think about it. What can be added or changed. If you want you can register and start filling the forum! I wanted to add also a gallery for pictures, but then I changed my mind, cause I'll consume to fast my wespace. If someone has installed the Gallery for PHP-Nuke please tell me how much space do I need and if it's worth installing it on my website. Also if you know for some cool stuff to add tell me where to find them. Thanks!
  7. If you have previously installed both environments Gnome and KDE you can switch between them as m^e said. You can switch between them also at login (if you use the graphic interface, just choose KDE instead of Gnome in login screen, if you're using text login screen, then all you have to do is when you have logged in your computer to type kde) If you didn't installed KDE, than you have to go to the RPM upgrading section or whatever is it called and choose from the installation cd-s KDE environment to install, put the corisponding cd/dvd in your drive and instal it. Then you can switch to KDE. Hope it helps
  8. This "merging" of technology with our bodies has more then just one aspect. Can be good. AS BuffaloHELP said, they can/could heal you from different diseases and help your body. With this help our lives would be much longer, because our body would not have to work that much because of the nanobots. And because of this we will not be such vulnerable infront of different diseases, but what about for viruses? I mean, computer viruses!! If that would happen, we'll became like computers, every year or maybe two we'll have to go at the service to renew the software, maybe instal some new hardware (new versions of nanocomputers/robots). And we can be the possible targets of hackers. That sounds weird, but could happen. Someone to hack my body and then start controling me?!!! no way! And if we start using this technology in our bodies, than terrorist would have an easy job to kill many people. Just establish a connection with the help of this things in our bodies and zap, we're dead. Ok, ok that's more science fiction then else, but can became true in a couple of years, because of fast developing technology.
  9. If they would start with this it would be great. In my country we have kinda "class of Information", just in the 1 year (secondary school) where we learn how to use word, power point, excel. But that's nothing new for me. This things I already know and it was a little boring for me to listen and to do this things all over again. It would be better if they'll try to teach us something more interesting, like programming in different languages,... The main problem why this has not started yet and it doesn't look that it will start soon is money. The technology is developing to fast. If they want to teach us new things that would mean that they have to buy kinda each 2 years new computers, new software, etc.Ant that's not really cheap. Just for one school that would be about 50.000 ?, I guess? And for whole country?? Each 2 years to spend that much money But still, if we look from other side, that's not good, because people need to know how to use computers if they want to get a good job in the future.
  10. No I haven't. But there exist many programs like this. The easyest way to do this is msn Messenger, you can talk with your microphone and at the same time you can watch each other if you have a web cam, and send pictures, movies, etc. Personaly I prefer writing
  11. It is, but it depends from the country and your mobile operator. But it's not really cheap, normally costs more than if you call in your country from where you are. That's if you wanna call from your mobile phone, but if you try skype as serverph, that's just an other story I guess. Uhm, by the way, that's my first time I've heard for skype, have you tryed it? It's really free? It sounds kinda fake to me. To good to be real.
  12. They are late, very late. All this "new" things that Internet Explorer 7 will support are already supported by Firefox. And even if they will release it now, Internet explorer would have some security holes (okay, okay also firefox does) but anyway it's safer with firefox than with IE. Firefox is blocking malicious programs, but I'm not for shure that IE does. Well I'm shure that I'll keep using firefox instead of IE because it's safer. And it's tima that Microsoft lose its monopol on computer software area. I was reading an article about it and there sais that IE has about of 98 % users, Mozilla just 1% and others (that was 2 years ago) now the number of users of IE is decreasing, now should be 96%, but that happened just because IE was packed with Windows and common users didn't know that there are existing other internet browsers.
  13. They are not becaming paid, because they are working on GPL license!!!! The point of this license is that all software developed under this license is free and the same is for linux and all programs for this OS, except some drivers like for ATI, Nvidia,... You make conclusions to fast, I think that I know why have you wrote this and it's tru that on the offical webpage of Mandrake linux you can't download the latest stable version of Mandriva linux if you're not a member and paying for this. This is because they need money to keep working on linux, but you can still download Mandriva linux from other websites or if you wanna try the newest version in development with some bugs. And there is one thing that microsoft will never accept. If you're working with open source, there are more people working on same code and many bugs can be fixed in short time so Linux is less vulnerable then windows on which is working just one team and there are more possibilities for bugs in their new OS and with this there are more chances for hackers to use this security holes for hacking.
  14. I knew that directory with the name root doesen't exist, but I didn't found a folder with mainfile.php in. Now it's okay, I succesfully installed it. Thanks for your help!
  15. I want to instal a mod in my php-nuke based webpage. It's a shout box which needs a sql support for proper working. I have read the readme file and there it sais that I have to upload DB_SQL_installer.phpin sql directory to my nuke root folder where should be already in mainfile.php which needs to start the installation. But I can't find such a folder, with this file in...THAT'S RIDICULOUS and it's making me going mad Please help me!
  16. Maybe it's better if you try first a live distribution of linux as suggested. Knoppix is most known in "live" distribution sector. And of course you have to read and read to learn how to use linux. Then if you'll like it you can try some other distributions, but first you must know what do you want to use linux for. If you don't want to do any serious things in linux, having it just for fun and that it will be easy to use, try Mandriva, which works almost like windows (pratically all things can be made with clicks, just for installing programs and other stuff you'll have to use the konsole). Then when you'll know linux better you can try Gentoo, Debian and others (les work with cliccks, more use of konsole). It seems hard but linux is the best developed operation system existing. And when you said that you never get in contact with linux. That's not true. If you're hosted by Xisto, the server of Xisto is running on LINUX!!!
  17. wow, that candle looks great! I've just read an article in Joker (Slovenian computer magazine) about pixel art. I was wondering how to make this 3D looking of your picture made by pixels and now you solved the problem! This tutorial is very useful, I think I'll try to make something. Pictures made like this looks really great.
  18. A p2p program made by microsoft??!! They must be crazy, even if there would be copyrights and other stuf to transform it to a legal source of data, there would be many others not legal data avaliable soon because of the peer to peer protocol which allows you to share also your files.
  19. Could be, but if you're new to linux Mandriva is the easyest way to learn how to use linux and then you can go to other distributions. If you go like first to let's say Gentoo or Debian I'm not shure if someone who don't know anything about linux and how to make something in linux will know even how to install it and then how to use it.
  20. I get Mandriva LE 2005 with 7 cds, first 3 are installation cds on others should be some upgrades and programs, I don't know, because I don't know how define sources correctly. For establishing internet connection isn't so hard. You just have to be connected to the internet when are you installing Mandriva and in the installation setup you have just to define your connection (dsl,dial-up) if you have dial-up you have to provide your IP and some other stuff. And when you finish with the installation (if you don't have firefox installed) go to the internet with Konqueror and download and install Firefox. Good luck!
  21. That is a really stupid decision made by microsoft. With all this it looks like they want to have a monopol in everything connected with the computer software. And if that will happen, yeah they'll be full of money, but they will be also the most hated corporation in the world. But that wouldn't be the biggest problem. Users of software will be cut of of many privileges and better things that could be avaliable if there would be many software productions. But let's turn to this problem. As ashiezai said, they have all rights to made his website avaliable just for those with Internet Explorer, but they are stupid, because with this they are losing potential clients. Maybe one day they'll see that they are doing the wrong thing
  22. Finally they are coming. In last months there was a lot talking about this system for transfering data. This thing with bluetooth is existing a lot of time, but it's also dangerous so I never let open the bluetooth connection. Bluetooth is not safe at all, if you know how to use it and have appropriate programs on your mobile you can easyly access all data of others with bluetooth on.
  23. I will try it if I will get the installation cd/dvd, because my internet connection sucks I have dsl 256, but still it takes about a week for 3 cd's and I don't want to let the computer opened just for this for 5 days...blah forget it. Also with mandriva you can do this, but I'm still a n00b in this so it would be the same. I have heard about Debian before, but there wasn't released a stable version for many years, since now, so maybe I'll try it.
  24. Well it's not as good as 3ds max, but it's free (open source) and for a free program it is really good. You should try it! I'm not shure if it runs on windows, but for linux I'm shure it does.
  25. Wow, those logos looks really cool. There was used really a lot of imagination. I think that google should use some of this logos to change the usual look of their search engine.Yes I know that they change the logo for winter time or some special events, but it would be great if they will make new logos for each day or at least week!
