  1. Hi! There are several examples of using the SqlDataConnection class that you can find via Google. Microsoft's MSDN help articles usually provide an example on how to use each class. Here's a link you can follow: Scroll down to the example further down on the page. If you need a complete tutorial, read this article: It's from C# Station and is much more detailed. Hope this helps. Regards, Nitin Reddy
  2. Hi!Apparently, everything you've got in the database seems to be in lower case, except for the "O" in "inf_scat = 'Other'". Can you verify that your capitalization is correct?Run the query:select * from fusion_tor_info where inf_cat = 'movies'and the queryselect * from fusion_tor_info where inf_scat = 'Other'to determine if you get any results. If both queries work fine and, as you've mentioned, the query also works fine without adding the two additional conditions in the where clause then you probably just don't have "xmen" within the Movies - Other category. Check your data and reply back to the thread if you're still have an issue with it.Regards,Nitin Reddy
  3. Hi!Microsoft won't have money any more. No, I'm not talking about cash - I'm talking about Microsoft Money, a software product from the Microsoft Corporation. Just as they've stopped selling Microsoft Encarta, Microsoft OneCare and Microsoft Flight Simulator, they've now announced that the product will no longer be supported beyond 31st January, 2011.The reason for the end-of-lifecycle for Microsoft Money is not due to the recession, but rather because banks and other financial institutions provide their customers with similar services online.Regards,N
  4. Hi!The Futurama series will make a come-back with a new season containing 26 episodes next year. I guess Bender would probably say, "I'm back, people! For all of those who hate me, you can all bite my shiny metal a**." :-DFor those of you who have never heard of Futurama, check out the Wikipedia page, which is very descriptive. Buy yourselves the DVDs and catch up on what you've been missing all along.Regards,N
  5. Hi!Online education has its limitations. There are things that you can teach and things that you can't.It's a pretty good way to earn a second degree when you've got a full-time job that's important for your career. You ought to have at least some classroom education though because there are skills that you learn from a classroom (presentation skills, interpersonal skills etc.) that can't effectively be taught over an online session. We've got a lot of tools to take teaching online from Skype (an audio & video conferencing tool) to Moodle (a course management system). However, it takes more effort to organize than a classroom session.Regards,Nitin Reddy
  6. Hi!I wonder why the original posts have bleeps all over it... replacing the offending word with a substitute word would have helped.@HDuffRules: I agree - a date is two, a double-date is four but, technically speaking, three isn't a date.BTW, totally off topic but your nickname makes me want to bring it up - do you think Hillary Duff looks a little like Mandy Moore?Regards,N
  7. Hi!I've used http://www.intellisoftware.co.uk/ and they were pretty good. They have 2 packages - a premium package with guaranteed delivery and delivery reports, and a basic package with delivery that could take up to 15 minutes. They provide a .NET library for you to use too. They also provide a library for use with other platforms such as Java and PHP. A web based interface is provided for you to check your Inbox/Sent Items/Outbox and view your balance. They've got a discounted rate for bulk purchases.Regards,Nitin Reddy
  8. Hi!I'd like to clarify that the 59* IP addres that you are receiving from your ISP is not a private IP address, but is rather a public IP address. You can run a web server off your connection - a lot of people do when they start off. However, when you choose to go with a web hosting package, you get the reliability of having servers configured in a cluster and the backups are managed for you. You don't need your own UPS or generator and there's a server administrator available for support queries. It is still a good idea to use your own connection for setting up a staging environment though.Regards
  9. Hi!Microsoft Windows has the in-built capability to scan images. Connect you scanner, go to My Computer and double-click the scanner. You can then attach the file to your email message or insert it into MS Word/AbiWord. I believe the older versions of MS Word (pre-2007) supported scanning an image directly into the document.I use Microsoft Windows XP, primarily (I occasionally use Ubuntu 9.04 but I need Internet Explorer to access Microsoft Outlook Web Access for real-time notification of new email messages), and I can't point you to any websites where you can legally download Windows XP or Windows Vista, but you can download an evaluation version of Microsoft Windows 7 Beta. I think the Microsoft Windows 7 Release Candidate version is only accessible to MSDN subscribers. Microsoft Windows 7 RC is already in use by firms that are early-adopters and found Windows Vista so strongly repulsive that they would even switch to a release candidate version :-DSome people are still a bit sceptical about Microsoft Windows 7 - they refer to it as Microsoft Windows Fixta, a version of Windows Vista with patches and fixed.Regards,Nitin Reddy
  10. Hi!I've already got an iPhone, so the question is whether I'd trade it in for a Palm Pre. Well, it depends. I've gotten used to the iPhone's on-screen keyboard which in landscape mode is easy to type on with two thumbs, like most phone typists use it, so I don't see a need for a real physical keyboard... though I believe the app developers would have pretty limited screen real estate seeing how much space the landscape on-screen keyboard occupies. The Palm Pre doesn't have the refined 'look' that the iPhone has in terms of design, and it looks bulky - due to the extra keyboard, of course, but still! The key selling points of the Palm Pre are the multi-tasking feature and the availability of non-SIM-locked phones. BTW, my iPhone is a jailbroken iPhone - it took so long for them to sell the operator-locked ones here that the local stores sold jailbroken ones. Back then, I didn't know the difference till I finally clicked Update on iTunes :-(When I sign onto Yahoo Messenger from my iPhone and need to switch to another app, I think I get disconnected from Yahoo Messenger because the iPhone can only run one app at a time. If the Palm Pre can change that, they've got a leverage. They would have to figure out how to notify the user that there's a message on Yahoo Messenger, but they've probably got it figured out (considering it's Palm and all).RegardsPS: As of the time of writing of this post, the Palm Pre is still not available in my geographical location but the iPhone 3G has been available for about 3 months (?)
  11. Hi!@Copy-Josh: I've got an old laptop that I use for hosting Apache and MySQL and some of the keys on the keyboard don't work so I use the on-screen keyboard. Then, there's a blade server at the office with a USB dongle that supports only 2 devices so when I need to use the CD ROM, I have to disconnect either the keyboard or the mouse. Sure, there are dongles with 6 ports, but the HP dealer charges ~$150 and the company won't spend that much for just a USB dongle with more ports. I might have to convince them to get a powered USB hub (as a regular USB hub doesn't seem to work) or a daisy-chaining keyboard (keyboard with a USB port extender to connect a mouse).Anyway, let's wait and see how the croc-keyboard turns out.Regards,Nitin Reddy
  12. Hi!I've used the Contact Form 7 and the WP-PageNavi plugins and both are simply amazing.Contact Form 7 enables you to handle just the markup of the form while the plugin takes care of processing the form post results, emailing them to the specified email address(es). All you need to do to get the contact form to appear is copy-paste a 'tag' (if that's what you want to call it... it's more like a special HTML comment) to a post or a page and that's where it appears. You can create multiple contact form 'templates' and re-use them on multiple pages.WP-PageNavi is used to get pagination on your blog. Usually, you've just got the Next and Previous links to navigate between the pages of your blog. You'll have to add a PHP snippet to the page (replacing the Next-Previous navigation) in your themes folder to get the page numbers to appear. BTW, WP-PageNavi enables you to include a CSS file in your theme folder so the navigation changes by theme, in case you want to switch between themes often (X'mas theme during the christmas season, then back to the regular theme again). You might want to try the "KNR Author List" widget that I created (available in the Widget directory on WordPress.org). If you've got a blog to which multiple users post blog entries to, you can display the list of authors in the sidebar.BTW, have you used any plugins for article and comment rating? I've tried GD Star Rating but it seems to having issues on some versions of WordPress/MySQL/Apache/PHP (some combinations work, but a lot of users have had issues). What's your experience been with Akismet?Regards,Nitin Reddy
  13. Hi Sakhawat and welcome to Trap 17! I see you're just like the rest of us - we hopped onto the bandwagon for free hosting, but in the end we seem to have stayed on because we really like the forums. We're now involved with it not because of the free hosting but because we just like hanging out on the forums. Anyway, to get you started, you'll probably want to go over: * The forum rules * The MyCENT credit system (to get free hosting credits) * How to order the free hosting You'll want to get started by looking around the forums and posting to topics of your interest and that you can contribute to. Eventually, when you've accumulated enough credits, you can create an account on Xistro support with the same username and password that you use on Xisto and you'll get all your myCENTS transferred for you to use when ordering hosting packages. Anyway, if you've got any questions to ask, feel free to post them online. Regards, Nitin Reddy
  14. Hi!It's good to have had Xisto around for so long. For a dot-com firm to have been around for so long is an indication of success.@Michael: BTW, Michael, why does the birthday cake say "Caution"?@Bani: When did you come back? I've been seeing you around since I joined Trap 17 a month ago, so I guess you made your re-entry much earlier.Regards
  15. Hi!@rvalkass: I've looked at the keyboard from the link you've sent and noticed that it's a wireless keyboard. I've been wondering - why would anyone want to buy a wireless flexible keyboard? It can only be used when placed on a hard surface and a wireless keyboard needs batteries to run.The flexilble rubber keyboards look cool and are quiet compared to regular keyboards, but I doubt they would outlive a regular keyboard. The idea of being able to wash the keyboard does sound very appealing though.Regards,Nitin
  16. Hi!@dangerdan: I guess Ricky jinxed it by saying that. :-)Right now, Ireland is chasing New Zealand's score of 198 runs. England is playing against South Africa later today. Any predictions? I'm guessing South Africa might beat England today, but let's see how it goes.Regards,Nitin
  17. Hi! @kasperooney I'm pretty sure you saw my post about Ubuntu 9.04. While running the update, the apt was unable to pick up a few printing-related updates which isn't really a biggie. It's a 404 error and we see it on the web all the time as broken links. In the reply I got to my forum post, there's a link to the actual file to download and install, in case you run into the same issue. I haven't had a chance to try it out yet as I've installed Ubuntu on my work laptop and I'm at home right now using my home laptop. Cheers
  18. Hi! I've been having a problem with updates on Ubuntu 9.04 - the CUPS packages are shown in the list of updates, but when I select then and select install, it returns a 404 error. The error occurs only for the CUPS packages and not for any other packages. Has anyone else been experiencing the same issue? The exact error I get is: Regards
  19. @CopyJosh: Thanks for your input. Now that you mention it, I've realised that I usually have a problem with the keys on the edges of the on-screen keyboard. I usually push "s" instead of "a", and "k" instead of "l" as the human thumb isn't really well suited to on-screen typing when they keys are so close to each other. I guess those keys ought to have more deadspace between them.@BCD: The crocodile keyboard is just an idea for on-screen keyboards, so you'll still have the complete contact with your finger tip (or the side of your thumb, if you're a thumb-typist like me). Physical keyboards feel more comfortable with the curve that they normally have to make contact with the entire finger tip, although some desktop keyboards take the idea too far making the key a miniature cave.
  20. @Sky: Hi! Just to makes sure I get what you're offering, are you going to sell separate virtual servers for each order? I mean you'd sell me a 10-slot CounterStrike virtual server, and another user a separate 20-slot CounterStrike virtual server, both residing on the same physical machine? Does CounterStrike have the option to run multiple instances on the same physical machine?BTW, I can help out with the forums too, as long as I don't have to deal with angry customers demanding their money back :-)@mihaylov: I'm guessing not. Most admins do it on a voluntary basis and receive freebies and the status in return. Either that, or I'm being too generous with a lot of people right now.
  21. Hi Sky!I've checked out the forums and the website. There isn't much on the website yet, so I guess you're looking for somebody to create a page for each of the games with links to game mods, tournaments, news and stuff. I'd strongly recommend using a CMS as it makes managing the pages simpler.BTW, I like the idea of hosting game servers. Are you going to charge a subscription fee for using them?Regards,Nitin Reddy
  22. Hi!I've had the issue with a couple of other websites. BBC, for instance, acquires the rights to broadcast some content in a particular geographical location so if you aren't in that location, you'd get a message indicating that you can't view the content. It's primarily a licensing issue for BBC, but as the previous poster mentions, it could be because your government forbids such content.Regards,Nitin Reddy
  23. Hi!Till the problem is resolved, perhaps you could store the data into a database table instead of sending it via email? If you do really need some kind of notification on your desktop, you could create an RSS feed, to display the data from the database table, that you can configure in your feed reader (Microsoft Outlook?).If you need any help with this, feel free to post to the forum.Regards
  24. Hi!Money talks. Having lots and lots of money may get into the headlines, but the reputation you build for yourself depends on how you treat others. As soon as you mention Mother Teresa (also known as Agnes? Gonxhe Bojaxhiu, which I can't pronounce), you expect to see somebody with a lot of respect for human life, a person with humility and modesty.Regards,Nitin Reddy
  25. Hi!@BloomYou've been following Grand Theft Auto ever earlier than I did! I got onto the Grand Theft Auto bandwagon with Grand Theft Auto 2. It's strange how the numbering stopped after GTA 3 and then continued with GTA 4.I've run to the point where I need to consider buying a dedicated graphics card to do any serious gaming. The laptop I got a little over a month ago has Intel's integrated graphics. I run CounterStrike Source with full detail, while Unreal Tournament 2004 lags a little though it goes un-noticed after a while.I'm pretty sure my system can't run Unreal Tournament 3 or Grand Theft Auto 4. It's getting such that I have to get a computer that's actually been built for gaming, which means I need to turn to Dell or AlienWare instead of HP and Lenovo.Regards,Nitin Reddy
