  1. Thanks a lot! Also thankyou for creating this topic.I have been wanting to use the icon next to addess bar also. I thought it was mere impossible to reach such places with an icon but now it's so simple....
  2. For example, I have some files. I check their properties for their size. I need to report their size when I hand those files in. Do I use the "size" or the "size on disk" if I want to make sure that the size that I report is the same as the size of the files? I will be transferring files from HDD to USB to another HDD then to a CD.I understand that different storage medium will vary the size but I need to know what is the actual size of the files - may be excluding the information that the storage device uses to mark the location of files. If you can tell me, that's great. I also know that I might not be very clear on what I have said (I am in a hurry now - time of post), but if more information is necessary, please inform me.Thanks.
  3. Thanks a lot! I found some very simple but useful. Not all complicated things are the best, sometimes, simple things could also be the best. Thanks aghain.
  4. I like the idea, but what is the cooling efficiency? How effective is it?I might consider trying it when I make a complete upgrade of my computer and use old parts. What kind of oil would you recommend and it cools effectively?
  5. Hey! That's a great idea. It would only be great if the IT city/land was created automatically and the robot themselves spawned like they created themselves. Before I start to be a part of this place, I would like to know a few things first. What is the history of this place? - how long has it been and how did this place be constructed? How did the robots get their knowledge? - by human programming or self study or other more powerful way?Very imaginative, maybe you could develop further on this place and possible make some sort of model? - just an idea...
  6. Hi, I have actually played that a few years back. It seems like fun. It is a browser game so I can do other things as well as playing it.Now, I quit as work load at school increased. What do you think about this brwser game?
  7. Different weapons have different characteristics. So I would vote others.I would use different weapons for different purposes.
  8. First of all, you will have to think about you ability(ies) to make such a game;can you program all the game and code it?can you generate graphic as good as the game you buy?And many more....Then, you have to consider this:If you were to take programming lessons and other things like that, and produce the same quality game, does it worth the learning? - long term and short term - if you rarely buy games and this is one of the few you buy, then taking lessons just for 1 game is not really efficient and vice versa, if you buy loads of games, then making your own might cost more (time etc.) but it definitely is a great archievement (you are already professional, then consider this another project). Also, know what you are buying and think what makes the game worth it. There must be a reason for such items to cost a certain amount of money. After all, if you are just playing the computer game and not knowing how to make one of what it takes to make one, then it's probably worth it. Another thing (slightly off topic), does time worth the money? For example: is your gaming time spent worth the money you paid?
  9. In this case, I don't think he/she meant store data in the air, it means more similar to idling data in the air like aircraft waiting in line in the air to land. As I did talk about aircrafts being idle in the air (waiting to land), energy is being used. So same with the data in the air. Energy is always needed as long as you start circling data in the air. Wouldn't that be a waste when having solid drive to store data is convenient? But again, this is a section where you put ideas, so I won't argue too much.
  10. Making data circle like that takes up bandwidth and theres a limit. There's also a high chance of it being lost if you decide to circle a lot of information (within close distances as processor(s) may not be fast enough to handle all). Also, this method will not be very secure even if it uses strong encryption algorithm. People can intercept it mid air and crack the encryption thus stealing your information. But as this is a section where you put ideas, it is a very interesting idea, I won't need a hi cpacity hard disk again. Otherwise I would advice against it...
  11. Oh, of course. Only under rare and strict circumstances in the real world. Things move, the size of movement could be small, but still moving. If everything is constant, and you threw an object up, it will stop when it reaches the highest point; relative to earth, and then comes down. In low level speaking, it is simple. But in the real world, it's not that simple.
  12. If the point comes to this, then when might this storage device be used broadly? In other words, when will it pass the research stage and move into developing and operating in most computers before the magnetic and optical domain takes over? Can you give some examples of the DNA storage tests and the magnetic and optical domains? I am curious about them. Possibly post some information sites.
  13. What if we define a circle as allpoints have equal distance from the centre, ie all radius of a circle is the same, and not associating the interior angle? And obviously, there will be infinite number of points. I really don't think there is a need for calculating the interior angle unless it will help in a practical situation. But like someone said eearlier, I would encourage the good thinking... For practical use, I think the precise interior angle would be irrelevant.
  14. Ah, interesting experience. It may be the OS programming which varies when calculating the size of HDD. But it is awfully strange to lose 60 gigabytes. Would you think it is the problem of HDD or is it really the problem of the OS? This kind of reduced size seems most likely to come from corrupted HDD.Surely, there indeed may be more things to be aware of when calculating the disk space.
  15. Hmm, talking about the 65mm and 45 mm CPUs, my friend convinced me that 45 mm will save a noticible amount of energy compared to the 65mm. Although I agree that the electrons need to travel less distance in the processor but I still think that the difference is still relatively small. I will revise your recommendations, thankyou.
  16. If we can really change DNA, we can perfect human! But there might be side effects, so beware....
  17. Thankyou for your responses. I know that not a lot of programsuse the avantage of 4 cores but I am still more than happy to use an easy-to-overclock dual core or a effective overclocking dual core. My friends have also informed me about this. And as for the motherboard problem, I will find a motherboard or be recommended a motherboard based on the CPU as I think most of the performance will base on the CPU. Motherboard will be chosen according to what CPU I intend to get. But for the sake of saving, my motherboard is GA 965 DS3 probably revision 1.0. http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ I will be more than happy to take a high performance dual core if it is more practical. Forgot to mention, practicality (for me) comes first for now. Oh, I also need recommendation for a new graphics card as my graphics card is currently unable to handle my load. Thanks for responding and information!
  18. I think it may be possible here: http://forums.xisto.com/topic/64875-dna-hard-disk-stores-information-customize-offsprings-genes-storage-device/ But it is not verified.
  19. I can't really decide on which to buy. Such as there are many CPUs of Quad core. I am not a spendthrift but I look for affordable and worth - for example GHz / price is the highest. I am aiming for a quad core. The i7 is slightly too extreme for my uses.My uses:Play games (of course) - can play some good CPU intensive games, quicker calculations of physics intensive games, less lag.Compile videos and possibly games - takes quite a long time to compile videos and I hope to shorten it, converting videos etc.General workThese are my main uses. If I did not give enough information to make a choice then put it in the comments and I add.Much appreciated if you can help. Looking forward to a new CPU.
  20. I won't go too detail because I am not a biology specialist. DNA/gene stores the genetic information of a person. By using DNA as a storage device, much more information can be stored within a very little amount of space. I do understand that technology today may not be able to do so but it may happen in the future. I heard that, I think it was, around 0.17 GB of information could be stored in a gene - correct me if I am wrong (please, if you know). Just let's say that it is a gene that can store information. Also, you know how small and microscopic one gene is. This way, by the size of a modern common hard disk drive, the capacity is huge, beyond "REALISTIC" imagination I think. Now, by somehow connecting the genes and be able to use the information in the genes, it could be benificial to space available and beleive it or not, customize offsprings as we now (the future) know how to access gene information and possibly alter it. Comments or ideas? Post 'em here!
  21. To what I think, computers are binary systems and therefore I think they should use binary instead of SI. I totally understand all the standard units but my point here is the computer recognizes the harddisk using binary, the package should be using that number. But I guess it's just a business tactic. They were right, no lies involved. Now, the hardware businesses have sucessfully hide the 149GiB into 160 GB. Thanks very much for your input! Very helpful.
  22. My view is that "Quantum" is still a theory and may not be here until sometime in the future (if it does). But for the sake of thinking if it existing now, then I think it will suceed. I think the quantum theory will prove itself useful when scientists manage to create the quantum computer. After that, I would think about the cost...
  23. Hi sheepdog,Of course, I would like to thank you for giving me this advice. Many time I dream and it was a great dream. But when I wake up, I just wished that I remembereD it. But some of them just went off my mind. I will try and see if it works well for me, it may be different for different people.I would like to know if it depends on how tired you are. Sometime I am just dead tired and can't remember a thing when I woke up...Also, because that I sometimes like to dream (to get innovations and any ideas - including crazy ones...), do you know of anyway to make the dreaming probabilIty higher? I understand that dreaming will depend on several factors but any advice? To be exact, my problem for now is not really remembering the dream, but to mke sure I dream. I need to dream in the first place in order for myself to remember the dream (if necessary). I have even tried saying to myself what I should dream about before I sleep. That did no use, either no dream or a dream of a complete different to what I want. I just want to at least be able to dream (I do dream , it's just that I want to make it more often )Thanks.
  24. So does it mean that any service that does not state monthly or yearly, it must be one time payment? Cuz I need to calculate for the future as well.
  25. I need to know if these services' charge is recurring and would it be per month or per year?Web Builder/ CMS/ Gallery Pre-SetupAlso, does Trap 17 allow a member such as myself to buy a domain name as well as hosting if I have enough earnings?Or how free are we to use the earnings? Can we use the earnings how ever we want to in Xisto services? Thanks
