  1. I would love to say that he does have an opinion, leave this thread to be for those who disobey the rules. You will get found out, banned and removed. Most of the Free-Hosting site require you to go onto the forums either log on or post a certain amount because they need to make money from ad revenue. There is x10Hosting, 000WebHost, Zymec, and much more. Most of them are complete garbage. I wouldn't say Xisto is like them, but even though they do say it is Paid Hosting, to an extent it is not up to par, but you cannot compare it because I am getting Hosting from Posting, but in the end, if you do really plan on paying there is HostGator and well so many, few are up to this standard, some overcede it, but you fit where you fit. This so far has been the best, because I need to earn about 16 dollars to get set up and I am over halfway done.
  2. I just started also and I'm trying to stay on top of things here, but the clutter gets built up rather fast and I am amazed at the traffic this forum has, over 74K members, and I am one of the newly registered ones. I hope to stay as long as you get a lot of posts, and become a Changer such as yourself. I would like to know if its possible if I could open up my own SOTW, and maybe OpaQue could offer a couple of incentives into joining and winning, like a dollar or 50 MyCents worth in Hosting, or an extra ranking, such as winning X amount of SOTWs would give you GFX Team status. Other than that I would like to say I am looking forward to meeting you, and see that people of all ages make this forum what it is.
  3. On your second question you could change into another type of file if the MIDI file has problems. I use MIDI files to find tunes for my class's chamber singers for a song that we could not find sheet music to. You have to embed it as a QuickTime file because only QuickTime has the ability to embed MIDI Files from what I've seen. So being that you need to upgrade to QuickTime Pro and then look at it once more time. For the first question, I'm from the US so I don't know much about Rugby. On the other hand, try changing the MIDI File into .wav, .mp3, .wmv, or any other Music File, there are some free conversion programs, look around.
  4. Thanks I've seen you post before also, you seem to think well before you post unlike me usually.
  5. Hello fellow members of Xisto. I am a newcomer to this forum. I have begun posting and become assimilating into these threads, and forums and posts and whatnot. I haven't actually though formally introduced myself. Name: Harsha Age: 15 Interests: Science Research, Debating, Tennis, and Gaming (MMOs) Gender: Male Thats a pretty much a short bio, but more indepth is here. I am a casual gamer, who plays games sometimes and off and on. I used to play Maplestory and got into a lot. That started me off into the world of gaming. I have played a couple of others, but not more than a week or two. I am now looking forward to the Closed Beta Test of Dragonica and Dragonica 2. If anyone plays it feel free to drop me a PM of your future IGN and Forum Name, and if you are part of any guilds. I enjoy learning about the world of the Internet and Computers. I am beginning to learn Web Design, starting from the basics up with HTML 4.0 and then to (X)HTML since I believe that HTML fully known allows you first harness it and then redesign in CSS. I have set up a site before with a regular host, free but it wasn't that great. If you know x10hosting you know about the horrific slowloading sites, and downtime, if you are on free hosting. I am planning on making a new site under the name of Lavalon Lair, for a casual fansite for Dragonica. It shall be the new home of my guild, LionHeart, just to mention my name is Xalor under it also. I plan to set up a blog, forums and special guildpage. It shall be the reason and the fruits of my posting here at Xisto For now I have been welcomed nicely, and the people are so well conversed and knowledgable. They have provided me a powerful oppenent and I see that rivalries exist in a forum such as this. I have heard about the amazing spammer S_M but I don't know much about that. I enjoy GFX and have begun learning how to make signatures, here are some examples of my basic work: Those are some of the better ones, but the rest are rather horrible. I plan on getting better and begin designing templates from tables and then moving to cleaner <div> version of it. My overall goal with GFX is to get much better at complicated signatures and to begin designing templates for Joomla!, Wordpress, and phpBB3. I hope to have some fun here, and get to know everyone much better.
  6. If anyone looked he said he would pull troops out of Iraq didn't mention Afganistan because of contiued resistance of the Taliban. Iraq is ready to live on its own as their soldiers are ready. The Taliban on the other hand are more of a threat. They have been able to secure weapons, and take over Pakistan and other Islamic Nations of Middle East. I would be opposed to him taking it out even though I am a liberal by nature. I believe that reducing the troops dramatically at this key point would be a collassal dissapointment. With the rise of the enemies and terrorists not only here but across the world, such as Africa, and India it must be time now, to take the final steps to crush them now, before they rise up. Its beginning to become like before WW2, as imperialism ended, as we are now, and then Hitler rose. We need to stop anyone from rising with his ability and to prevent what had been the Depression that seems to be repeating itself. If they do deploy troops, do not say that I have not said a WW3 would not have come. This time it will shift, from the West to the East. The places where it was little, it shall shift to Asia and America.
  7. I began making signatures just about 2 months ago, and have only done about 4 or 5 then I quit for a bit. I began making them again just last week, these are couple that I did. I decided to start learning again so this is the fruits of my new tries. If you would like your own in this style just drop a little response with the render and the size if possible. If possible can anyone give ratings and critiques of my signatures? Oh and I also made a couple of avatars, could I get a rating on these also?
  8. I like the fact that you incorporate yourself into a lot of your work, helps to not only give it a focus but a meaning to you and someone else. If I was on the moderating team, you would be a definite in, and it seems to me vector and freestyle are a major part of your style.
  9. I really don't you guys are understanding the way he made his signature. I like you style of blurring and smudging the background to give focus. Its one of the most basic techniques people often just lookover. I'm a big fan of photomanip but I usually don't like finding good stocks for it so I end up using renders. Its really good and the text fits nicely, for sig work text is a smaller part and usually is used for labeling but when it is used it has to flow nicely and the symbol of the bracket helps to fit it in.
  10. Thanks thats what I wanted to do there, and I couldn't figure it out, thanks Quatrux, the other thing that is left is how to integrate a forum like bbpress into wordpress so they share the same user table, so that when you can use the same id and pass for each when registered for wordpress.
  11. I am planning on getting a domain and VPS Hosting under the Logic Plan from Xisto. I'd rather not have the domain be a URL Foward, so if I do buy the domain from Xisto and the Logic Plan, how do I one set it up to replace the normal subdomain I would receive and then set it so that its blog.yourname.com instead of yourname.com/blog. That's the question I mainly need answered, and also that if Wordpress MU works on a VPS since I only need no more than 3 blogs, to be supported. Thanks for helping in advance.
  12. Thanks for the sig, can you save the GIMP File as a PSD or a Photoshop file or remove the text, and save as a .png or a JPEG image? I would like to do something with the text, but other than that that's really good, I couldn't think of anything like that. Just a little request though, do you what sound bars are, they're like the up down bars on a sound file image, could you add it on top at the bottom of the smaller Ichigo, if possible thanks if you can. I don't have GIMP so thats the only problem.
  13. The ultimate forum, the one that is the best is IPB Paid Version, try it out check it out, and look at all the successful IPB Forums, its clean, simple and has all the features you need. There are so many skin designers, and the layout is much cleaner than vB or myBB. myBB has a lack of mods or themes so its not that great other than the ease of use. phpBB3 is one of the best free ones, its clean and simple to use in the beginning, lack of good themes without integrations or pay is the problem, along with modding is rather difficult for newcomers. I would also Vanilla the forum software by Lusumo is pretty good, because of its speed and the fact it has set up autopages for it that are pretty good to use. The best overall for a successful site is IPB, because in my opinion vB that hasn't been truly developed and changed doesn't look that amazing.
  14. I don't really know how to put in a Sig Request, since most of the ones I did weren't so structured and the ones I do I just ask for a game, or the render so I did my best at asking, Thank you for taking the time for looking and seeing if this was possible. If you cannot access the render, or have any other problems, drop me a PM or post back on the thread and I will upload via my account instead of Planet Renders. Size: Any Size you wish, I don't know how you would like to make it but keep it in confines of the forum limits Theme: Abstract Vector Render: http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ Render Theme: Vectored, with sort of flowing shapes Color: Blue, black with the colors of the render Text: Courage and underneath inserted my Forum Name of Xalor Other effects: Lines around it with wavy lines coming out. I can't really explain it but when you see the render, I guess you could see why I said vector since it is a vector based image. Thank you for looking at this request
  15. I don't want to seem rude buts its really been done so many times that its not even a gimmick anymore. I would suggest trying to make it flow more, make it larger and start separating sections into modules, and other parts. Click Here for an Example, now this is something that may be based on another program integrated with a theme, but has all the parts. You need a way to organize your information so it doesn't seem too simple like not a single section but with side boxes with information. Its all easily done with a Table Layout its hard at first, but if you get it you can get a great theme going. Once you achieve the table level, try making it without tables and do the pieces yourself, and see how it turns out, so you can make it look better. Overall its a good design, the content and areas need work, as in more sections and creating a true front page and portfolio, I wouldn't say no to converting to a theme for a CMS system like WP or Joomla!, or even a Forum. Hope to see more work and improvements.
  16. That is pretty cool. I know about the Green PC going to Africa, built with little to do as a White-List Machine where it does only certain tasks like basic word processing, and basic internet ability based on a specialized version of Linux. This is also something that interests me. I have been to AP before to visit my family, mostly my grandparents, they come from rather small towns of Kovvur and Eluru. The thing that I would say is the problem is WiFi and Ethernet connection. The PC Hubs at local shops would be put of business by the coming of these laptops and along with that, finding a working connection is hard, you need to pay at least 200 rupees for a broadband connection, which is about a dial-up speed when used by WiFi, the other thing though, is these laptops need to be durable, unlike our netbooks which aren't very durable. I believe though they should make something that is even simpler than 2GB Ram, 512MB is enough for something like a Ubuntu or a KuBuntu Distro, maybe if it does get better they could begin something with their own custom style, that pertains to learning. I hope it comes out soon, so laptops will be more prominent over those desktops which aren't even of their time.
  17. If possible I would begin a separate site in English following the same style, just translate it because some of the people at that corporate level would like their potential consultants to have a site in the unofficial language of the Web. Its just looks more professional. I know some Spanish, so I got the jist of it, but its all I know. I would also stop it from refreshing from page to page, and set it up as a CMS rather than a set of PHP pages otherwise it would be messed up.
  18. At Harrison, the reason FF has crap at the top is because a lot of the programs you download automatically add a Yahoo, Google, or Ask Toolbar at the top, and usually those problems can be changed by using a simple Theme like say Anthem, Naver, or CleanBase, most of them give you a simple to use top taskbar, and hides the rest. The addons and the large community allows for quick developing and great additions. Soon enough Greasemonkey and Stylish are getting enough support to be added into the core files, and maybe other versions would be released. IE and Opera do mess with basic HTML display, I've found that alot, and they both change the basic rendering, and the regular display fonts, that are standard are not displayed are replaced by something else, without any tweaking. Other than that most of the sites load well. The themes for Opera are sort of condeluded and small, they don't really make any semantic changes, and not enough support for addons. I would give it though the number two choice for anyone, who develops or has some knowledge of the internet.
  19. That's beyond a first time work. Beginner's luck I guess, but I wonder how that applies to HTML o.O Other than that love the style you're going for, but I wouldn't keep the header the way it is, make it a vectorized or a logo based header so it gets larger on bigger screens, and shrinks properly on other screens. I would also change up the sides like everyone else said, and try adding a little bit more, to make it look full. I don't really understand much, but try going for a theme, and a drop down menu and a couple of links also wouldn't help making it look more corporate, than a personal site. Try adding solid blocks, instead of rounded edges, and add some flash based parts, if you know Flash. For a first time rating, and on my scale its about a 9.2/10, high because you delivered what needed to be there.
  20. This is a pain actually. There have been bugs about this on the site itself. Just check out Chromium Development Blog. Its about PDF files, because you need Adobe Acrobat's plug-n because they haven't developed a standalone reader for files unlike other browsers. They took it out beta because of they need to take advantage of the growing market, unlike GMail where as long it stays in perpetual beta it cannot be mocked, while Chrome is good enough to get out and get going. Just check out code.google.com/chromium
  21. That happens in times or true, bandwith crunches. Is your area a small town or a heavily populated unknown town, that could be the reason. I also have DSL and come from a rather small town, but it is next to NYC so I don't usually have problems, just need to upgrade the service. VZ DSL has been cutting down the rates though, I haven't been getting the same speeds as I have before. Its a simple problem at times, but this is really only happening with G-Mail, not Google itself. Sorry I don't know much about internet lines, but it really could just be Verizon messing up, or your DSL Company changing sections, since Google signs contracts with ISPs for their site to get higher bandwith, this could just be a temporary problem, since Google is pretty much dependent on your ISPs level of bandwith.
  22. I would never even try that or even feel that makes anyone feel slightly more beautiful. Eye jewelry has got to be a joke. In reality though people will do anything to be the next big thing in fashion or style. Its pretty much the only section left of the body that hasn't got any jewelry on it. You have the nose, and then you have the belly rings, and other places you wouldn't show off all the time. I believe those are just some of the more insane places you can put it. I'd imagine setting off so many alarms where they would check up on the eye rings. You would have to take them off everytime. Tattoos on the eye are crazy, but I wouldn't mind getting colored or designer contacts. I would actually buy that. I have contacts now but I would buy something better than that, and crazy. In reality though, if you friends began doing this, and it become the next big in thing, would you do it? Its more or less peer pressure, and this is more on the girls, and if it really seems cool would you?
  23. What do you believe is the Web 2.0 standard? How would one define that boundaries from the past and the section that leads to the future? I believe that one can divide it into three parts:1. Logo/Name2. Template/Design3. Content Management System1a. LogoA logo of the Web 2.0 represents a minor 3-D or partial animation, at most. It is usually a sillhoute, with rounded edges, and must be vector based. It should represent an aspect of the name, and incorporate the name or initials of the company into the logo. It should be able to be branded easily and integrated throughout the site. Logos must also be rendered, and reflect no more than 3 colors, that form the basis of the site. Logos should be integrated with the name, where the name is synonymous with the logo. 1b. NameComming Soon....Add what you wish, but it's rather late now, so I will finish another day.
  24. First you need to find out whether you can run a expensive marketing campaign. Often if it isn't a trusted host, unless its cheap its hard to find people to come to you for hosting. There are a lot of trusted ones like HostGator, BlueHost, and more. Its hard to find people unless one it it's really cheap as in 1 dollar a month for like slightly more than Xisto gives, or two get free hosting with ad revenue. You need a lot of people for ad revenue, so start getting people with a different forum, see if you can get that traffic to afford to at least break even, for the first two months, then start slightly offering free hosting for credits on the forum, or requiring them to come to forum like every other week or so, like x10hosting. You can also try giving both paid and free hosting that might work also. If its around only a single server, you can actually set up your own server, or buy one for about 200 dollars a month, then create Unix/Linux Sectors, and divide it up as it goes. If you only have one server than approve each application or just let it go automatic. Provide incentives for paid hosting, and incentives for free hosting as in ad-less, or dedicated hosting, with more crons, and other ablities. If you plan to host your own server, then its a one time cost, buy something from Dell or another company, and set it up, for others, but you need a really fast internet connection, so thats about 70 dollars a month, so so far if its a home host it will cost around 100 dollars for setting up it and the internet a month per server. If you want to resell servers, thats going to be a lot more of a cost. You also need another 10 dollars a month for a domain, then you need a design which runs about 400 dollars about for a good template and CMS service. In total just to start it up its about 1500/month for a home host, and external server and then host from there its about 500/month but then you have to report to the higher company. The profits begin with ad-revenue and traffic, along with getting paid hosting. Hope I helped.
