  1. It's the combination of light and dark that make a good site. Take traps forums for example. It's generally a lightly colored site with pale blues and greys. Yes with a good contrast of darker colors makes for a site that is easy on the eyes. Now personally I would avoid a site with a solid white background, it's hard to see and if they have a lot of colors it's hard on the mind as well as the eyes. I forbid anything brightly colored like neon, unless it is blended well with other shades so the brightness is lowered. Any color can be made to fit a website if you use the proper contrasts. As many have pointed out what they like. Your color scheme can impact how visitors feel about your site. It's generally a good idea to view other sites of a similar subject to get an idea of what times of colors are more popular for that type of site and create something close to it of your own design.
  2. Super uber support there folks! The FTP has been broken for over 4 days now. Whats another day hmm? And whoa, what about the missing servers, and the java script problems. Guess those will be next year? Totally the place to go if you don't want to update your website. /Ever/
  3. Yay! Cheesecake! lol I could go for some right now. Anyway, some coffee and maybe a ham sandwich, white with mayo, cheese, lettuce, no tomato. and a side of homemade chips. those are so good.
  4. So in essence, guys don't like shy girls. Wow, most girls are shy because of insecurity and a fear of rejection. Thats interesting. No wonder I spent most of my life alone. lol
  5. I don't know about the not drinking water after the meal, but I believe about drinking before hand. It allows you to eat less, and is healthy for you. I've found that drinking a glass of water can help calm you down and ease stress. Not a great deal mind you, but it does help. But I wouldn't be so strict about it. That wouldn't make much sense. If you feel thirsty, your body is craving water because it needs it to replenish loss, and therefore you should drink to remain healthy.
  6. Boy am I behind the times. This is a stupid question. But, what is AEF? I've never heard of it. SMF either. But from what you say, I don't think I'd want that one. lol We were using phpbb, and so we have a lot of problems with that...
  7. My "husband" and I will probably never officially get married. We live together, we have a son together, and that works for us. He was married before and his ex cheated and basically screwed him over, got him put in jail and took his son away from him. (We still don't get to see him). While marriage is important, it us your understanding with god that binds you. We've said our vows to each other before god, but we've never gone through the legal process. If someone chooses to do the deed without being married it is their choice. That is the one thing no one can take away, Our free will. Anyway, to the original question. As a woman, I would prefer the guy make the first move. I was always shy, and the one sitting in the corner of the bar or dancing alone at the club. Had I been more open who knows what might have happened. But guys always failed to make the first move, and those who did, well. They must not like shy girls.
  8. I'm webmaster of my friends site, it's been inactive for several months. I went a had to disable the forum because of all the spam and whatnot. People selling stuff, posting links to porn sites. Someone was even sending pm's to our real members. I think there was over 5,000 registrations, none of them legit. there was over 10,000 postings, all of them spam. It was crazy. I felt horrible. Even before this I installed a mass delete member script to help control it. But it was just so bad. I don't know how larger sites deal with it. Very good moderators I guess.
  9. I typo a lot while typing. Sadly I find that I also do it when writing. And my writing so is slow my hand cramps within a few minutes so I dislike writing. However when creating a story, as I sometimes like to do, I often start on paper, then type type it up. But yeah, everything is so impersonal these days. People don't use names anymore. They see usernames and that is what sticks. No one bothers to ask your name, they leave anonymity to the imagination. So much is lost in technology. I almost think we would be better off without it.

    Email Virus

I've had a virus send e-mails from my computer. Thankfully my antivirus, even though it couldn't find the virus was blocking the e-mails. But for like a hotmail account or something. No I've never had that happen. I don't even allow partner sites into my e-mail. You know like those ones that say they can search for your friends and add them automatically, they require your password to access your address book. Uhuh, no way. Never have, never will. but your right, it does make you wonder. Who really has/can get access to your e-mail? It's a scary thought. We live off of computers. I know no one who doesn't have one, or at the least doesn't use one, even my husbands 80+ grandparents have a computer and e-mail. People can look into our lives and change or take whatever they what. Have you ever seen 'The net' with Sandra Bullock, I totally believe thats possible.
  11. There are a lot of companies making stupid decisions, and expecting the government to bail them out. AIG for example, took the Gov bail out money and after giving the exec's bonuses they sent their CEO's on a paid vacation! WTF? It's no wonder the gov basically took over the company. These larger companies that are suffering really should make their exec's take pay cuts rather then firing employees. People with 500k annual salaries and what not. Cut that in half a few dozen times and you got the extra millions you need. People will never learn.
  12. That is hilarious! Seriously, I mean the fact it's making these inmates clean up their act when they get out so they wont have to be caught wearing pink is just great. I think more prisons should do it. Oh and the fact the DMX referred to jail as a hangout spot is no surprise, I mean you get 3 meals a day, a lot of times, there are tv's and there really is no punishment except for a lack of freedom and it seems people are okay with that. Like that one guy who was under house arrest in his penthouse apartment. Oh my he's really suffering there. It's a joke for these people. Seriously. *headshake*
  13. You know why? Because they get a tax credit for it. Most places don't realize that, and the ones that do are doing it more. because they get a tax break when they hire the handicapped. I guess it's good they do, but honestly, they do it for the wrong reason.
  14. *raises hand* I applied once, when I was desperate for a job and never got a call even though they were 'hiring' no big loss on my part. I hate wal-mart with a passion. I did their inventory for 3 years, i've seen so many different wal-marts. Some of the worst ones out there I'm certain. If there was a best well, It was not memorable. I've also seen some of the rudest people. On inventory day it's their job to help us, but they act like they can't be bothered! How the *bleep* do you expect us to help you if you don't help us! WTH? So yes, I hate wally world. I still shop there, I expect nothing so I am not disappointed. It's that simple. Thankfully having spent so much time in wal-mart I rarely have trouble finding anything. ^^
  15. By the way, I took a look at your site. Very nice, I just have one problem with it. It may have been my computer, I'm not sure. Your links at the bottom, you have to hit the letters exactly in order to highlight them and select. May I recommend using a rectangular box in the hit field of the button. something that extends beyond the edges of the text by just a few pixels. This way your visitors wouldn't have any difficulty navigating. If I am wrong and it's just my computer please disregard this.
  16. You really should allow for multiple choices on that poll. I currently use Hotmail, yahoo, and AOL, I have previously used gmail, myway, and a couple others that I can't remember the names of.I prefer hotmail all in all. but I use yahoo for spam, and AOL for my husbands business. I also use yahoo for one business e-mail and hotmail for another. Currently in use I have 7 e-mail addresses. I have 3 more that I don't use very often. At one point in my life I had 31 e-mail addresses, but I grew out of that wanting to be everyone stage. Every e-mail I have serves it's own purpose.
  17. Yes, it's interesting. They just put a new one in in town less then a year ago, and already it's being closed. Truly sad, I got my laptop from them 3 years ago (Yes I still use it, it's old and decrepit but it works) I don't see how they expect to save the economy with so many people losing their jobs. My husband is self employed and it's hit us hard. He builds fences for a living and well, people just can't afford to do that kind of home improvement so he's been out of work for awhile. Were scraping the penny jar it's so bad. When we get a call or an e-mail, and actually gets the job he gets so excited because then we can get diapers. I did however think that Circut city was closing all their stores, is this not the case?
  18. Yes, I admit I posted on that one. Completely baffled by how someone could bring up such old news. Especially when the posters last post said that she got her answer. The one who brought it up more then likely hadn't read the posts in the topic when he posted. I think if he had he would have realized it was pointless to bring it up. That is why i think it was brought up to raise post counts. There was nothing contributed there, just old news. *shrug*
  19. I totally agree about allowing them to ride on the road. Each and every child is different. Regardless of age I think it really depends on the child. Riding a dirt bike or any bike should be a privileged, one that irresponsibility can lose you. Where you get to ride should be taken into consideration, Those who are responsible teenagers can have their run, within reason, but younger children need to be observed obviously, and should only be allowed to ride in specific places. I was like 12 and riding my bike all over town when I stayed with my dad. He lived in a very small town where there was nothing to do. And riding all over town was a favorite way to pass the time. You know ride to the DQ and get a flurry, then be home in time for dinner. It was great. However, while It was not a big deal then, today I wouldn't dream of letting my son just take off where ever he wants without supervision. Only when he's earned the privilege of going off on his own, within reason would I even consider it.
  20. I have been registered with zymic a few months now, but when I officially try to use it. IE upload my site etc. It doesn't want to work. The initial upload went without a hitch. I'm thinking great! Well I try to overwrite a file with an updated file and it's a no go. I can't even upload with the file manager as the javascripts aren't working. Neither are the java scripts in my site working with them. Needless to say I am very displeased with Zymic overall. A shame really, I liked the name.So pros and cons? Pro: Cool name. Con: Random subdomains, you never know what your gonna get. Pro: Lotsa space, bandwidth. Con: Lotsa downtime. Pro: Decent features, Mysql, etc. Con: They do you no good if they aren't working. 2/10
  21. Now that is once I've not heard... Using oatmeal for a rash? Now I've used Aloe Vera for home remidies in the past. My grandmother had a plant in her window. Not sure what happened to it after she died. But I've been looking to get one myself. So useful that stuff, and cheap if you grow your own. Yep just what I need. lol But yeah, for anything more then minor cuts, burns, and the occasional rash. I would see a doctor before trying any home remedies.
  22. Old and green... Icky... lol Do you got my chocolate marble cheesecake yet?
  23. It reminds me of that movie the day after tomorrow, where they theorized that global warming actually triggered an ice age. Now I don't know how much of that was true science, and how much was just made up for the movie, but it really makes you wonder as things seem to be getting colder and colder. But as you said only time will tell.
  24. Some people are also drudging up old topics that don't need to be brought back just to get a post count. Topics such is those where people ask a question, and the question is resolved, should at least be closed. If you can't delete them, don't want to move them, close them so people aren't posting spam or useless posts to up their count. It's not fair to the rest of us who really want to contribute to this forum.
  25. Hello Parubilla! Welcome to the forum, I'm new myself, but I just love it here. Anyway I'm a graphic designer myself, mostly in heart. I'm very out of practice. I need to go back to school or something But I can't afford it. :/ Oh well. Maybe we can share portfolios if I ever get one up ^^
