It's a desktop publishing application. No seriously, can't you just Google it?

Why not let the db auto increment your invoice numbers too? Why does the user have to enter it? If you're worried about missing a number, then letting the db calculate what the next number is seems like the way to go.

That doesn't sound very democratic. If you want to avoid creating more trouble than you already have, I wouldn't have a sliding scale like that. Charge everyone the same or it'll lead to even more bitterness and bad feeling. From now on, nobody stays more than 1 night in a row without paying $20-$50 (based on whether I like the person or not)

That's not quite correct. Xenophobia is the fear of strangers or the unknown, but most often foreigners (which is what the original Greek word means). It's got nothing to do with whether they're behaving rationally or not; they just have to be 'foreign' to the person experiencing the fear. This is called 'xenophobia'. A hatred to someone looking stranger. Why stranger, because they don't behave rationally.

In most situations I'd have no problems with this line of argument but in the case of 'those shouting loudest', they're not only shouting, they're killing people too. It's a bit hard to point the finger at the media and saying it's all just a beat up when people are getting killed.its always those that shout loudest that get the biggest press coverage. The vast majority of Muslim are peace loving and are disgusted what happens "in their name".

We hear plenty about it down here thanks very much. There's been numerous bombings over the last few years one which killed 86 Australians (among the many). Then there's all the religious conflicts on Aceh with churches being burned etc.If Islam really encourages violence, then why do we not hear more about the violence caused by Muslims in Indonesia, the country with the largest number of Islams?

Doesn't sound like 'news' to me.

I don't know about mouse gestures, but there's an extension called SessionSaver that not only restores all your tabs, but gives you a list of recently closed tabs that you can reopen too.

I still don't get how a number's going to be missed. The database assigns the ID number whenever a new record is entered. It's not going to skip any numbers.
-
What do you mean if the user misses a number? What are they actually doing when they enter this number? Are they just entering the ID in a field and pressing 'submit'? If that's the case then it doesn't matter if they miss a number; you just query the db based on the ID entered at that time.If there's more to it than that you're gonna need to explain it more.

Temporary network problem I'd say. That URL works fine for me.

I would've thought the opposite would also be true to a certain extent. If you have a dozen 10-line functions that all do similar tasks, wouldn't it be better to group them all together in a single file rather than have 10 individual ones?If it just is you editing the code, it probably doesnt matter but in the real world where most programming is done, if 100,000 line programs were in 1 file, it would be sooo hard to work with or understand the code.

That figure's a bit high. There's less than 10% of people using IE5 now.But let's face it, in one country, probably 25% of the people there uses Windows 98 with Internet Explorer 5.5 installed

Because it's NON-STANDARD - it's not s'posed to be there, it doesn't validate that's why. Do you think the W3C wrote the specs just so they could be ignored by an individual WYSIWYG software manufacturer?the "non standard code" that adobe golive is note a problem at all to deal with....i dont know why you say how its so much worse than dreaweaver just becuase of that...

I wouldn't have thought there's much to it - the idea is to produce the best-looking image at the smallest file size. Sometimes you'll choose GIF, sometime JPEG and sometimes PNG. Sometimes you'll need to sacrifice a bit of image quality for reduced file size.
-
GoLive is actually much worse than Dreamweaver cos it inserts its own custom (non-standard) code into your page.

I don't think you really needed to repeat the code for both XHTML 1.0 and 1.1 as in all cases, the only thing different is the doctype. It's more important to highlight the differences between XHTML and HTML than between the two versions of XHTML.Updated version is in the first post

The name attribute became deprecated with HTML 4.0. You target IDs instead now. So instead of <a name="blah"> it should be <a id="blah">.

All that's gonna do is create more publicity and more sales for Dan Brown. Even if he loses the case, he's gonna be able to afford it.i completely agree with you guys in saying that da vinci code is a great bookbut there is a controversy brewing up against the book and a case has been already filed in against dan brown and he has also appeared for a hearing in londons high court , the claim is that brown copied ideas for his book from a 1982 book called the holy blood and the holy grail ,so the two authors of the book are suing the da vinci publisher which dinies the allegations

There's no way bitmaps are smaller than JPEGs. As for PNGs, it will depend if you're saving them as 8 or 24-bit. You didn't even mention .gif.2. If you can't limit the number of images, make the images .bmp or .png ect. limit the .jpg's and .jpeg's
As for JPEGs, they don't have to be huge - changing the quality setting will affect their size. And you can't say that you should use any one format for all images. Each image has to be approached on its own merits. It has to be a trade-off between size and quality and sometimes the best format will be JPEG.

If you've got the WebDev extension for Firefox you can get to this under the Tools menu.

You've never heard of tabbed browsing?Awesome. Tabbed browsing? Never heard of it. Hey can you download it and still use Internet Explorer 6?
And no, you can't use IE6 & 7 together.

If you want to insert comments into CSS files in future, do this:element { style; } /* your comment */

The most important parts about SE rankings is not only the number of people linking to you but also the quality or popularity of the sites that link to you.One link to your site from CNN will be worth more than 100 links from sites that no-one looks at.
