I wouldnt say its a copycat but its a true inspiration. Getting from the best and mix around with it. The new taskbar feature KDE like appearance with features from the Dock from OS X. Me love it!! Though the hype for Windows 7 is very promising and solid, hope Microsoft will not disappoint us with horrible activation process.

Constant A 3d render touched up in Photoshop
onscreen replied to encryptedwrath's topic in Graphics, Design & Animation
What renderer did you settle on? Scanline or Mental Ray or...? Judging by your shader, is Phong the shader you started with? Lots of room on improvements as in lightning, focus point as well as shader. -
The old school way is converting an extra computer in your house into a server with the help of no-ip.org for your dynamic IP. PHP/ASP for website to server pipeline while MSSQL for the database. The money method is to buy a hostname, dedicated host and you start from there.

I bought my copy while picking up Farcry 2. Geez, too many games to play now and have to slow down on the pace on playing . True, its amazing to see how they made a transition from 2D to 3D without leaving out any similarities from its former.

I am with you mate, i have problems driving a manual car too. Still, congrats on your new purchase! Deciding on modding it?

I wouldnt say Nokia is the best or its the king of the hill in Mobile phone industry. Before the color phone starts to make into the transition, Nokia did came out some solid good models like 3210, 3310, 8210, 8310, 8800 etc..while its first generation color phone were solid even. As technology pickup, Nokia came out with its N series and the reviews on its long term use isnt as good as what many would expect. And no, Sony Ericsson isnt good in only making good music phones. They have a few good non music phones that have solid reviews while a couple of smart phones have yield good reviews on long term usage. With its upcoming Xperia X1, it is going to be a flagship war soon in months to come.I partly agree Motorola have good phone designs but its aimed mainly on the younger generation. For an overall, I would say Sony Ericsson and Nokia did a good job in phone design that cater all sort of users. Still, i am really happy that Sony and Ericcson merged 6 years ago. Conclusion, i vote for null, each phone company have its advantage and disadvantages so, no one is the best in something, this competition is never ending.

Seems like many miss out some important points when buying cameras.Point and Shoot :- Boot up time, is something that is really important for point and shoot. Shorter boot up time will have your camera ready in seconds and prep you with sufficient time on getting good angle and so on. Slow boot up time (5secs or more) isnt recommended as it kills valuable time in most situations like candid shots, zoo / safari, concerts as you will be switching on and off your camera frequently due to its small energy capacity on the battery.- Megapixel vs. Price, Everyone did hit the sweetspot on replies but isnt sweet enough to decay a tooth. As digital camera CCD manufacturing is getting cheaper, camera makers tend to squeeze in bigger MP on smaller cameras but the weight is on the price that is tagged on each of the different models. For instance, a 6MP Nikon is selling for $399 while a 7.2MP Nikon is selling for $420 with Canon pushing out a $400 6.5MP digital camera, which will you get? If the price suits your budget and comes in a good Megapixel punch, then you can consider something that is worth your budget.- Lens quality, This is where some people isnt aware off when they purchase Point and shoot, Moderate lens quality will create unwanted flare, distortions on the image they took while the good quality lens have less distortion on images and no wash out on colors vs. contrast. Ask the sales representative for more information about the lens quality, the maker of it. For example, certain range of Panasonic comes with Leica made lens which is well known for vibrant color reception and near zero distortion on image.Digital-Single Lens Reflex (DSLR) :- Memory card support, DSLR is a upper notch of Point and Shoot and DZLR(Digital Zoom Lens Reflex) so what you need to look for is memory card speed. I own 2 DSLR, Nikon D1x and Nikon D100, both of them can support high speed Compact Flash and Microdrive without worrying its slow writing rate and reading rate on big files. Entry level DSLR recently do have good support on memory cards but beware, high speed ones tend to cause unexpected freezing during writing process.- Lens support, This is really important when you buy a new DSLR. IF you previously own any 35mm SLR, and you have a number of solid good lens that you want to use on your new DSLR, do research on the DSLR you aimed for, if its an upgrade, refer to its lens ring specification on the DSLR spec sheet. Do consider upgrading your lens if the DSLR you wanted could not support the lenses you currently own, opt for brands like Tokina, Sigma, Tamron, Phoenix for cheaper replacement.

I like keeping crabs as pets, particularly hermit crabs. They are unique in some way that could entertain you for hours. Sad thing is in captivity, hermit crabs tend to have shorter life span.

Talk About Favorite Online Games GunBound is a free, multiplayer game
onscreen replied to gunbound's topic in Computer Gaming
So far the one i played most is : 1. Ryzom - Many of you may not hear this game before but its one of the most well done MMO to date. Though it have gone through a couple times of financial crisis but at time of writing, Ryzom is currently going through a major overhaul. It is a sci-fi MMO that is set in a world called Atys, with 4 race to start from, Fyros, Zorai, Matis, Tryker where you will be placed in an endless adventure in this sandbox MMO. http://ryzom.com/ 2. ROSE Online - It is unique in some ways but many of you will label it as a korean made grinding junk. After the closedown of Triggersoft, its original developer, Gravity US took over the development rights and currently there is only 2 servers alive, 1 in NA and the other in Japan. http://www.roseonlinegame.com/ 3. Planetside - In myself, i hate Sony Online Entertainment alot as they prefer constant revenue than polishing up their games and boost their marketing to bring in new players but Planetside is the one that stood out from the crowd. Though it have super slow updates but it is one of the kind MMOFPS to date. 3 nations battled for what is theirs as Terran Republic wants everything to be militarized while New Conglomerate opposed to Terran Republic and fighting for freedom as Vanu Sovereignty worship alien technology for world domination. Though it is a P2P MMO but it is worth to try it. http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ -
Online Divorcee Jailed After Killing Virtual Hubby
onscreen replied to Saint_Michael's topic in General Discussion
MMOs / virtual social games dont kill players social lives or distort their mentality and MMOs and any other games isnt evil. The root cause is the players itself and their impressions to it. MMOs is there, if you dont play it, how would that ruin you totally? Virtual marriage is very common, the female is have gone too emotional and took the marriage seriously and decided to take action on the character. I have married my characters to other females characters but once if i know i am no longer playing it, i would happily give my account info to my "wife" so she could do what she wants with it. Still, theres players who couldnt accept that its only a game. -
DnD 4th E? :)Well, i am still going through the new rulesets and other new additions. And its really nice to see they have added modern MMO gameplay into pencil and paper

Prove on what you have stated is true. I have the same thoughts as you do before and things changed when i got my hand on Logitech MX518 mouse. I am not a hardcore gamer but with a gaming mouse i have full control on the speed on the fly. Also, gaming mouse have double the clicking lifespan compared to a normal mouse so go figure.

Opinions On Phones Sonyericcsion vs. nokia vs. Motorola vs. LG
onscreen replied to onscreen's topic in Mobile Phones
Nice to see theres some respond on this. Though its kind of "late".. hehe. Anyway i have settled myself on a SonyEricsson W760i. Its truly a great phone compare to Motorola and Nokia. Solid in exterior and featured packed in the inside. Still thanks all for the replies. Its a great input for future readers. -
So far for me the new Devil May Cry 4 emphasis on visual as it can be played in DX9 or DX10 if you have Vista and DX10 capable graphic card. The story is just the usual good vs evil but the character design is really original in some way and its inspiring too. I have yet to grab a copy of DMC4 for PC but i played the demo. Its fun and just like any other console action games, it takes a few try to get your timing right.

So much of Harry Potter and no talk about Narnia and Golden Compass? IMO, book adaption into movies is something demanding since visual experience can be different with reading books as not many love to read a 400 pages paperback. Still it did be really interesting to see how will they tell their version of story with those fictional characters that is based from the books.I have no say on Harry Potter as i only watched the movies but not reading the books but i would have to say Golden Compass really did a great job in the book to movie adaption. Though it have some discontinuity between the book's story and the movie but still 90% similarity could content the book reader who watched the movie.

I prefer WinRAR personally as it have much accurate compression and less chance on getting corrupted. On rare occasions, i use Winzip when the person i want the file to be transferred to never heard of WinRAR.

My Ip Blocked-critical Sittuation
onscreen replied to FreedomOverdose's topic in Web Hosting Support
Problem isnt due to Xisto but the ISP you and your friend is using. I have the same problem last month and did complain to the ISP i used regarding its routing issues that caused several site including Xisto being blocked for no reason.Just try the same way, contact your ISP and inform them regarding the problem you have now, send a tracert result to them as well. -
"gamer Buys $26,500 Virtual Land" (from Bbc News)
onscreen replied to wonbin's topic in Computer Gaming
No surprise, second life and entropia universe is built for players to unleash their potential and creativity in money making, in any ways they want.I was a pixel artist in second life making USD 500 per month just selling pixel art pin ups and later became a land broker which gross me USD 980 per month. It takes hardship to get it started from ground up and if your business is really unique, then you will be earning tons and have a good life in both virtual and real world. So far, there is no breaking record made in entropia universe yet but my last seen highest transaction done is USD 6.6k done by a player just by blasting for valuable deposits. -
