Although a wonderful idea it is difficult to implement. There have been charity fundraisers who want a piece of donations just because they feel they are entitled to it. Piracy - hard to ban if software makers do not get their software patented or their brands trademarked. And often, piracy has to be dealt with by using IRON-FIST LAW and law enforcers. The other way is for software-makers to have time-limited sofware that self-destructs at a deadline, or NOT TO PROVIDE SUPPORT EXCEPT FOR THOSE WHO PAY FOR IT. 3rd world can be improved if people in it get a solid foundation in education FIRST. Providing premium software to them FOC may be a good start but it does not solve the many problems that come with poverty or lack of information. Perhaps it's easier to adopt a child! What do the powers think of? What can they do to HELP 3rd world? I'd be very interested to know. More likely that some private corporation start doing this kind of "initiative" than any government. P.S. Open source may be good for many collaborations/software projects but it also can hurt like a double-edged sword. The danger is when a developer finds that some open source he used actually has some 'not so open-source stuff'. This opens up a whole new can of worms possible for legal suits without devs even knowing until they're in hot soup and that may be too late.

I was scammed by someone who didn't follow-up on stuff I ordered online but didn't get. I have made this known to a polymer clay group on Yahoo. There were mixed reactions but if you visit the scammer's website's shipping policy (this was added after I complained them to the BBB) they have a statement there which said they can't guarantee your receipt of your purchase. 'Scumbags' if you asked me cos in this day, packages can be tracked for their whereabouts (via Fedex, DHL, etc). NEVER ever buy from "Polymer Clay Express". They have other "shop names" under them - yes, physical shops in Baltimore. I would have to fly there to have any kind of legal action against them. Then there is another kind of PETS-FOR-SALE scam going on... Never attempt to buy a pet that has to go on board some airplane (free, just pay for "air"). Those pets don't really exist and usually pets are EASILY bought by animal-lovers in the sellers' own area. There are also extra licensing requirements for different countries if you want to export animals....so getting a domestic pet from overseas is not "free" or cheap. My other ADVISE: 1. Never buy virtual products unless refunds are guaranteed, in case software/scripts do not work. Paypal.com has NO GUARANTEE FOR REFUNDS OF NON-PHYSICAL PRODUCTS. 2. Make sure the web scripts you're buying isn't an out-dated version or unleash bugs on newer Linux/Windows platforms (webhosting). Insist on watching a demo - flash or video! 3. If you're asking for your money back - do so within 3 months from date of purchase (through your bank). Adding multi-languages (translate on the spot online) is a breeze by using wordpress and its community- supported plugins. Here's an example of a wordpress blog. (website isn't mine ok?) There are wordpress plugins for voting, email, tell-a-friend, emailing, converting post to PDFs, etc For me, Wordpress is easier to use than Joomla. Visitors and friends are able to comment and follow-up just like how you do in a forum. Regards kelly
