My first blog was a Diaryland blog. I signed up for it just to see how the stuff worked - this was quite a while ago. Years ago, in fact. I didn't really see the point of writing meaningless **** about my meaningless life though, so I kind of abandoned it. My second blog was made last year. Its also a diaryland blog.. http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ if anybody wants to see it. It was inspired by Lucien's. We've known each other for a fairly long time, but I only really understood him after reading his blog. I don't really mind that nobody reads my blog.. Its just my thoughts, what I think of the world. Its private, and not written for the sake of being shown to others but for expressing my own feelings to myself so I can understand them better. Its just in blog form in case anybody who ever finds it may find it of some use.

My DA is fairly empty.. owing to the fact that our computer has been refusing to acknowledge the existence of our scanner and also because half the stuff i put up gets taken down again for copyright reasons or something.. even though I had permission to use them in the first place. I agree with Maybe Skate Team (nice username!) - the site is very slow and most of my favourite artists have their own websites like furiae.

If you read around, there's already a lot of information that addresses your question, but..At Asta, posts, per se, do not count for posting. It is the quality of the post (ie length, number of words). For each post, depending on its quality, you will receive Hosting Credits. So if you post 30 one liners, you might only be up to about 20 Hosting Credits, but if you post 3 or 4 long, detailed tutorials or information as such you will get more credits. Once you have reached 10 credits, you can apply for a 50mb hosting package, or you can wait until you have 30 credits and apply for the one with 150mb. Once you are hosted, on the main front page of the forums where your credits are displayed, there credits will be gone but it'll say something like "Number of days for hosting". Next to that will be a number.. and when the number gets down to zero you're no longer posted. Obviously, keep the number up by contributing to the boards.

I think we have a slight misunderstanding.. I know what the div overflow stuff means, I've been doing designs with them for several years. The problem I have with GreyMatter is that the scrollbars appear when there is not more content to show.

m^e, I tried your suggestion but it only did what I thought it would - it moved the scrollbars 10px to the right and down. They are still there, and as before there is no extra content they need to display. Thanks for trying to help though.. Any more suggestions?

FTP'ing is faster than email, yet still incredibly slow if you have large and/or lots of files. If you could bring the computers together, you could use a firewire cable if they can take the cable.. That's the way we do it when we get a new machine. Firewires can transfer up to 400 megabits per second, which is a lot, lot faster than most others.

Yes.. You could have a virus.. Or your monitor could be stuffed. How old/new is it? Sometimes the dust that accumulates inside the hardware is fatal.

I have recently set up Greymatter (the blog software) on my account, and modified the header & footer accordingly so it would show the layout I wanted. You can see it here. When you see the part with the entry, two scrollers appear - a vertical one and a horizontal one. The entry is (obviously) a test entry, and all the text & content is viewable without either of the scrollers. So why are they there? I'm not familiar with Greymatter, so perhaps I've done something wrong and there's meant to be a "Disable Scrollbars when not Needed" button I have to click or something? Maybe you should add the style straight into the <A> code? Like <a type="button" href="java script:history.go(-1)" style="color: ... ... ">. I don't quite understand the "button" bit.. If its meant to be a button, isn't it meant to be a button instead of underlined text? When I used the text link for "go back" on one of my sites some time back I believe the CSS had no problems with javascript.

I don't believe you can, though some FTP programs (I use SmartFTP which can) allow you to edit the files directly on the server. If you're using Dreamweaver to make your pages, they have a Site option which says something like "Edit on local folder then upload .. Edit directly on server", so if you choose to edit directly on server you don't need to upload everything.An alternative way of updating if you don't like uploading is to use a blog system on your website (lots of people use this on just the news/front page). You will still have to upload some stuff, like pictures and files you want to use, make downloadable etc but you can make a layout and then specify header (the scripting before your text comes in), footer (the scripting after you've finished the text) and some systems will also allow an extra one called "Column", I think. Then when you want to update news, you only have to log in to your blog system and make a new entry.

And what would inspire them to go to a little place like Earth?Has anybody actually tried the website? I mean, is it actually for real and you can waste your money sending stupid messages to whoever runs the site or is it just there as a joke?

At the moment, I have exams coming up soonish so anything I make won't be the greatest but if you really need help badly I can probably step in.. But yes, be more specific with your needs. I have played the violin since I was 8, and I've been acknowledged as a strictly Baroque player. Its not that I don't like the other stuff, I just enjoy the absoluteness and perhaps "rigidness" of Baroque music. I dislike modern classical music intensely, and apart from that and Mozart I'll probably like it. Some of Paganini's works are great, and I also enjoyed playing Vivaldi's Autumn for some exams a while ago

Size would probably be some sort of a factor.. Full iPods are not humungous or anything, but a Shuffle is just one quarter of the size of a full iPod. Smaller means easier to take around (and easier to lose, lol), and lower capacity means cheaper. Those are what I consider the main reasons.

Well, you can't help but be biased in things like these.. Creative makes the best computer sound cards, so it's Zen for me ^^
