    Avatars

Creative Spirits is a good site for graphics, they have lots of avatar packs as well: http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/
  2. It most likely will have a problem.. Because as far as I know dreamweaver can't run front page extensions. I haven't worked much with Front Page before, but I'm assuming .fp files are just used like .psd files are used in Photoshop - for ease of edit in the "home program" and can't really be used elsewhere. So what I would recommend is saving everything as .htm and then loading all that up into Dreamweaver. And also as far as I know, Dreamweaver doesn't have its own extension, so there's no problem of converting it to a Dreamweaver format.

    Edit?

Why exactly was it messing with the credits system? Did you just get extra credits for whatever you added or changed? Maybe then we should have a delete button so we're free to delete then resubmit our posts. And techocian - you need the edit button In the last paragraph you meant "hear", but wrote "here" ("so admins/mods here me out").

    Edit?

Owing to my inconsistent mind, I often find that I have to go over my posts to add/delete/modify stuff... So can you big god people up there consider giving us the priviledge of an edit button?
  5. Edit - I lied. I have heard of e107. I don't recommend it - on the CMS pages I glanced over it because it was so... Ordinary. It looks like exactly what it is - a site made quickly with a CMS. But further than that, the style is not.. aesthetically pleasing. There are heaps of better ones out there, my personal favourites are Angeline CMS for its lack of looking like a CMS, and CPG Dragonfly for easy functionality.
  6. The table on the front page goes down too far at the bottom and is overlapped by "Website Links". If you want to trial some good, opensource content management systems quickly, ie without having to install them on your website and then uninstalling them when you find out you don't like it any more, go to Open Source CMS. They also have other things you can demo online like blogs and galleries, if you wanted to add one of those to your site. My ignorant mind has not yet heard of e107, so I can't say anything there.

    Create Ur Own Avatar

It does vary from site to site, but usually not by much. For sites trying to conserve bandwidth, they tend to be smaller, though I have been to few sites with 50x50 maximums (the most notable one being DeviantArt, but I couldn't blame them since the whole point of the site is just a mega bandwidth leecher). Most sites have something ranging from 80x80 to 125x250.. Because avatars aren't always square, after all. In fact, especially on RPG sites when avatars tend to be character portraits, rectangular avatar dimensions are better. About the avatars.. Does anyone use YahooAvatars? No? Ok. lol. Well, it works with the same theory as all those things.. You log in, choose your gender, skin colour, one of 5 (last time I went) face prototypes, then you can modify things like hair colour, clothing and add all sorts of funny stuff like backgrounds and accessories like pet ravens and ski's. https://www.yahoo.com/
  8. I don't quite know what you mean by converting it from a FrontPage site to a Dreamweaver site... As far as I see, you have websites, and they can be made with FrontPage, Dreamweaver or something else. But they are not "FrontPage sites" or "Dreamweaver sites", because they are a site foremost and after that comes whichever program they were made with. It's like "albinos" - they are firstly a person, and after that comes the albinism. If you mean getting rid of all the junk code FrontPage spoofs into your html, you can try dreamweaver's "clean up coding" option, but that usually doesn't do much and you really need to do it by hand. If you mean opening your site with dreamweaver, just go to File -> New Site or something like that.. When you open up Dreamweaver there should be somewhere a module that says site. Click on new and fill in the information... And then you have a "Dreamweaver site" instead of a "FrontPage site".
  9. That's pretty scary.. I live on a little island.. But it's at the bottom of Australia and we're just above the Roaring Forties or whatever those Southern winds are called. Seeing a huge thing like that over half the horizon would be horrifying. I think my parents have this huge fear of something like a megatsunami happening, so our house has always been either very much inland and landlocked or on top of some kind of mountain/hill thing. Though there's no real worry of anything like that happening, as our city is on the bank of a very deep river which narrows as it goes, so the damage and impact would be kept to a fairly thin line down in the waterfront. The geography of places is really complicated, and I recently read a book called The Day the Sky Fell: In Search of Atlantis (by Rand & Rose Flem-Ath) which says something like a huge tsunami caused by a thing called crust displacement could have caused the burial of the city of Atlantis under Antarctican ice and may also have caused or been a catalyst of ice ages.
  10. The first site I normally check out when in need of any scripts is HotScripts. After a little look on there, I found something called Five Star Review.. Here's what the site says about the script: http://www.hotscripts.com/listing/five-star-review-phpmysqlajax/ or http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ I'm not sure if its free or not.. Because our stupid spam filter thing at school has blocked the second site which is meant to be the site of the script. Anyway, hope it helped. jet Notice from Klass: Next time quote from a site use quotes.
  11. Very nice list.. I think I should get that ExamDiff thing.. It's hell trying to go through two txt documents by eye.
  12. Yeah, google satellite images.. Hang on.. Isn't there another thread about this thing somewhere?
  13. Old.. As in it first came out in 1999, and it's now 2005? Well.. It's older than.. say.. Pariah.
  14. Hello.. I'm a year 10 student as well.. And I dig old games ^^I found Quake III Arena after a long search yesterday (yes!) and I've discovered that playing the Sims 2 doesn't give you great reflexes or mouse control..Anyway, welcome. Enjoy your stay, keep well etc. Sorry, lost the welcome script

    Free Music Outruled

$15+.. I wish. My CD's are usually shipped from Germany due to the obscurity of most bands I listen to, making it more like $30+ for a CD and $40+ for a DVD.
  16. Hey.. It looks.. Just like all the other default IPB forums :PI like the logo, perhaps change the board colours to match? The text looks a bit funny.. Maybe change the colour to a lighter orange, and the white stuff.. I'm not quite sure on that. Are there any other effects you could use, like bevel or emboss? One last little nit picking thing - who wears a bucket hat when they're kayaking? Or maybe its just my town's winds.
  17. I like the design very much.. The colours run together nicely and the shapes are good as well. *click, click, click*. What.. You put your cell phone number up? *splutters* Ok man.. That could lead to bad stuff. But hopefully it won't, and everybody who visits your site is nice and kind and will not wilfully misuse your cell phone number. The "HOME" button on the top right .nav seems to be missing, according to my browser. The "MOBILE STUFF" button didn't quite look right on the EDUCATION page. Skool.. You meant to misspell that, right? All in all, a good effort. Well done.
  18. Yeah, I can agree with that. I think Motorola has a phone which can smell (and distinguish between normal foodstuffs and dangerous gasses). I think in future people will have a little phone type electronic device which enables you to connect with the world.. Just a random note, in Japan phones can be used to scan beef at the supermarket. Then you can get a history of your animal, a picture of it before it was slaughtered and a picture of the farmer dude who owned it before selling it to the abattoir. "It's OK honey, I know you prefer black coloured cows".
  19. There are many simple codes out there to redirect, and Dynamic Drive (DHTML Scripts) offers this more complicated one: <script>//Browser redirect Script- Š Dynamic Drive ( http://www.dynamicdrive.com/ full source code, 100's more DHTML scripts, and Terms Of Use, //visit dynamicdrive.comvar browser_type=navigator.appNamevar browser_version=parseInt(navigator.appVersion)//if NS 6if (browser_type=="Netscape"&&browser_version>=5)window.location.replace("PAGE URL FOR SOMEONE USING NETSCAPE 4")//if IE 4+else if (browser_type=="Microsoft Internet Explorer"&&browser_version>=4)window.location.replace("PAGE URL FOR SOMEONE USING INTERNET EXPLORER")//if NS4+else if (browser_type=="Netscape"&&browser_version>=4)window.location.replace("PAGE URL FOR SOMEONE USING NETSCAPE 6+")//Default goto page (NOT NS 4+ and NOT IE 4+)elsewindow.location="http:// http://www.dynamicdrive.com/ ; As you can see, that enables people to go to different places depending on their browser.. Not entirely necessary, of course, but nothing ever is. And never use a blank page to redirect - always put a "redirecting in x seconds, click here if your browser is being disobedient" link.

    Free Music Outruled

For music to be free and musicians still be able to make a living of sorts, we'd need to live in Karl Marx's perfect communist world, which isn't about to happen any time soon. Maybe I shouldn't say this (), but http://www.morpheus.com/ '>Morpheus checks out the Kazaa, Limewire and eDonkey networks or something like that.. I'm not particular sure but I saw it at a friend's place and you should be able to find out pretty easily on their website.
  21. Supposedly Ville Valo (click here to see) gets a new tattoo in each new town his band performs in.. His huge tribal up the left arm was the result of a drunken promise.
  22. I think "what's the best colour" would have to be one of the most common design questions asked. And once again, the reply is the same. "What is your website about?" You're not going to do a Quake or Doom Clan site in pastel colours. You're not going to do a barbie site in black and blue. So think about the subject of your website, think of the colours that represent your theme.. And voila! Those are your colours. The general guides are don't use colours for font/background with too big a contrast - pricks the eyes, or too low a contrast - strains the eyes.
  23. Great design, clean lines and curves.. But personally I don't really like the metal wormy things. Yeah, they're a nice eye distractor, but.. To use them on each header is maybe a bit too many.. But those are just my thoughts. Great otherwise, like your choice of colours. The only other thing I have to say is about the banner - it has a more "grungy" look about it, to me at least, and that does not really fit in with the rest of the page's clean curves look. But I guess that could just be me once again.. It provides a contrast, anyway. Well done.
  24. Ditto, Firefox all the way... For half the time, anyway :PWe have a dual boot, and the internet is connected to the linux portion of it (though to access it on Windows XP it only requires the unplugging and plugging of a cable) to make it "safer", there being a few more viruses made for windows systems than unix ones. There's a few problems though - the ISP has something called "DansGuardian", which I find immensely annoying. It does not block pornography or illegal content, it bans sites like eBay (or did, until I complained and got it taken off the list) and bans sites with something it calls "weight phrase limit exceeded". The hell. Anyhow. The DansGuardian seems not to apply to the little known or used Konqueror, which has subsequently become my mostly used browser. The problem with Konqueror is it won't display flash or java.. Even though we have both installed. So the end verdict is.. Kill the ISP.Btw.. I forgot to mention.. Don't all of them except IE have tabbed browsing?
  25. Nokia, Samsung and Sony Ericsson are developing a new phone, with utilitarian capabilities as well as normal phone ones. This next generation of hybrid phones will have cameras with up to 2 megapixels of resolution and music players with up to 4 GB of storage. And the phone is meant to be no bigger than an iPod. Like PDA's, it also has a digital assisstant and wireless internet capabilites and perhaps more complex games.I understood utilitarian to mean Swiss-army-knife type utilitarian, but I suppose this would be utilitarian in the digital world sense. The price for the first models of those hybrid utilitarian phones are expected to be between $300 and $800, but will drop after they become more commonplace. The companies are working hard on this, and Motorolla and Apple are teaming up to produce an "iPod phone". Samsung released the MMA800 in May, the first phone with a 2 megapixel camera, and a music player with 512mb. Other models are due to be released soon, especially Nokia's new N series with a 4gb memory (same as mini iPod).
