Depends. On my testing server - localhost (easy for testing )On this machine - netvibes.com. Excellent, though slightly bug-free. It's got me addicted to RSS, and there's plenty of other tools too. I kinda wish thye stuck to classic though, it's getting more and more bloated as time goes on, which I don't like.

I wouldn't trust google, but that's just me. However, they do have one of the better services. Live mail does look tonnes better and feels "nicer" but I haven't been using it enough to really say which is "better". Gmail's spam filter rocks though.

Woah, this thread seems slightly off-topic? Lets continue it, for a short while! I read a write up about the three major OS's - Mac OSX, Windows, Linux. Kinda wish I knew where the article is now, but basically these OS's compliment each other - as such there'll never be a "Holy Grail" among the OS world. Why? You've got three levels Mac OSX - Plain, simple, and actually works right out of the box. Unfortunately, you've got to pay extra for apply-only hardware that's really re-branded from windows-compatible hardware. Windows - Sort of the middle ground that's only really popular because of high app and hardware compatibility, as well as a high recognition value. It's currently the gamers system of choice, but only because they are forced to. Linux - Most customisable, but also the most "complex" system. It can install on anything (including "apple" hardware I assume, which is only really re branded hardware that windows uses). App and hardware support is improving all the time, but lets face it - gimp is still no substitute for Photoshop Let's say your going to buy a new PC. Which would you go for? There's no "Holy Grail" any more like there used to be, so most people would try based on their needs. As for the famous "XP vs Vista" thing - people should get their heads into gear and realise that these are two totally different yet similar OS's. True, the price sucks, but Vista *IS* far ahead then XP - in some areas. Others - it totally fails in. Roughly 8 years ago, there was the same thing going on. a Win9x platform, or Windows XP with its "High system requirements, sluggish performance and poor app/hardware support". Sound familiar? Yet, look at it now. People keep going on about Vista's sluggish perfomance and complaining that Vista needs higher requirements then XP. What did you expect? Here's there minimum system requirements for Win98. 66mhz 16mb ram (24mb recommended) (roughly) 250MB drive VGA (16-bit or 24-bit SVGA recommended) internet - 14.4 bps modem Are you trying to tell me today's OS's should run on a 15mhz processor, with 2mb ram, 15mb hard drive, and a 2-bit display? How about a 5 bps modem? I'm sure your favourite websites would load soooo fast on that. How about youtube? Moves in a second me ol' lad My graphics card alone could run an entire win98 setup if you could use the GPU as a cpu, and memory as a hard drive. Seriously, stop complaining Vista is slow and UPGRADE or stick with XP. Sure, Vista used to be bad on some things, but after a year of updates, games run just as fast as XP, and a lot of the other problems have been fixed. I consider Vista a nice stable platform, just like XP was, but not for a while after it's release. Ugh, I want to clean that up but I have work >_> So consider it a slight rant, but full of truth.

Certain types of software will do this, I know. My dad can't copy and paste when both Excel and CuteFTP are up, for reasons I can't fail to comprehend.Try booting in safemode and see if it can copy fine. If so, then it's some driver or some program. Now, you just simply go through the list - use Task Manager to end tasks and try out the copy and paste till you end one and see if it works.

Unfortunately, you need to spend more and go higher up to get anything close to high quality. Don't think about anything lower then.... $80 or so. I've had a pair of Sennheiser PC 160's that has lasted me YEARS and still sound fantastic. I've recouped on the expensive $140 price tag as I havent needed to spend to get more 'phones, while enjoyed better sound with more comfy phones too

On my testing server (virtual machine on this pc) I have the latest Safari (Windows), Opera, Firefox 3, IE 7, and stand-alone IE6 and IE 5.5. I know no one really uses IE 5.5, but it's more there for fun

I'm not sure what you intend to suggest for such "thrust". Ion is out of the question, for sure. Simple thrust air - well, It has been done. Check out the harrier jump jet - so I'm sure we all could use super-powerful turbines on our cars. That's only the technical challenge, the social challenge is (far) worse, in my opinion.You have to deal with people who can't fly, "Drunk flyers" haha, and all the other crud you get on today's roads. Plus, I don't totally see the need in today's world, except (tall) cities and really hilly/windy roads. Maybe not even cities per-say, as the only real advantage such cars would bring is the ability to land at a higher level, but most buildings aren't nearly high enough to be useful.I'd say cars are here for another century at least. Oddly enough, by the time they are with these flying machines, I wouldn't be surprised if they were all AI controlled. By this point, it's entirely possible that some sort of feasible propulsion system would of also been discovered.

To stop programs from automatically starting Start - Run - type 'msconfig' and press enter. Then goto startup and unclick. You can always reclick a box if you need it back. I had about a 2 second skim read of this page - it might help, might not. There's no way that games would run fine from other servers on the other-side of the world. Some games would (such as RTS), some others wouldnt (FPS for example). The ping time is just too high. What OS are you using? Vista/XP? Wireless/wired connection to your router? What are the pings in these other games?

I agree with sonesay. However, for someone at your (apparent) level, Dreamweaver is a good start.

Prime 95 is another good one - and it can detect faults that don't actually crash a system.

There's another product called phisohex that I personally use. Works great - your meant to use it 3 times a day but just once a day is fine for me. I just put the cream on my face while in the shower and wash it off. Far better then clearasil (however it's spelt).

Try using a new profile for a short while. I don't know how to actually do this, but it will be on google somewhere. This will make sure its no "speed hack" or anything wrong with your profile.

For all of your port-forwarding needs - portforward.com Stay away from D-link and Linksys (I think, but don't quote that on me), these routers just cause problem after problem. Belkin aren't bad apparently. Check out the Whirlpool forums for all kinds of data and knowledge about what routers work and what break. Wish I had before I got this D-link, I'm afraid.

USB headphones use their own integrated sound card, if I'm not mistaken. Plus, you can only use them on the pc. Sennheiser is good, if a little on the expensive side. I got these Sennheiser PC 160's quite some time ago. Light, fantastic clarity, mic, etc for $150 and isn't even close to needing to be replaced despite a few (??) years old meaning I've saved money since I've hadn't had to replace the headphones. Stay away from real cheap stuff and 5.1 channel headphones - there isn't a good sounding 5.1 set out yet. I did find out that I had to alter the bass/treble on my sound card a bit to pump out the best quality. If you don't mind paying a premium, I'd defiantly suggest getting something from Sennheiser - I haven't looked back Logitech are apparently not that bad, but I've never tried their headsets and honestly I'm not happy with that brand at the moment. Creative I'd assume are meant to be good, since they do have competitive speaker solutions, but I certainly won't be buying from them after what I've been trough with them either. Rayzoredge - Atomic is another good gadget/toy review site and most of the people who comment there are "in-the-know-geeks" too. They practically run the site.

Let's clean up a few facts in this thread, eh? No right-click blocking script will ever stop someone even half-dedicated to stealing content. Why? It's so easy to get around. I've got a Firefox addon called "Web Developer Toolbar". Awesome little thing being a developer. I can use it to control javascript - which of course controls the "right-click block". Also, "embedding" the file in php as another poster pointed out won't do a thing either - Why? Php outputs html - not php code. It outputs html or whatever other format the developer wants it to. Since it would output the tags required to embed the .swf inside which I can then "steal" this provides no use. You can password-protect the SWF. I don't know how well this will work however. In reality, there's no way to really stop people stealing - especially without compromising on user experience. This is with everything - from real life, art, programs/music, swf files. Sort of a law of nature I guess. A quote (no clue where from) "The more and more you secure your system, the more you'll end up being surprised by some back door you'd of never thought off". Essentially - it's pointless to try. Do a little bit as the majority won't bother and move on if there's obstacles, but it's impossible to stop someone determined. edit: You can spend all year "securing" your swf file, but there'll still be a way around it. Isn't it better to focus on the users who you provide for, rather then lower their experience of the flash meaning more upset clients, plus try fight something which is impossible to win? First - you've got (a lot) of different effects, different rules for different units, different ways of doing things - sea, land, air, and getting all these elements to mix, for example. You've got to make an AI that has to be advanced otherwise you might as well just skip it, hence is very difficult to do. I won't even go into stable networking or epically balancing issues. You need quite a few players who play different styles and a lot of time to invest. Most games aren't this hard. For comparison - the platformer - you just have some blocks/land, some basic enemies, some items, and put them everywhere. FPS - code one "bot", do some landscaping and models and your done.
