  1. That sounds pretty awesome! Treasure moments like this eh?
  2. Or extensions which are released which changes these.
  3. After looking at your css, there's a problem with your image folder. http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ There's no images in the folder. Check to see where you put them.....
  4. I don't like how the "go" button is removed. Sometimes I might press it rather then pressing enter.I like the new addons, the bookmark thing, etc, but I have the same "ehh" feeling you do about the address bar (It's not an "awesome bar", just an extended address bar). And I also don't like that favicon thing, I reckon they could of use that for better purposes myself.Hopefully, you can turn these extra features off. Or risk upsetting a large user base.
  5. Sure, I might give it a spin, but there's other here who are probably better suited too. A screenshot/preview of the site would be a nice start however
  6. There is not unlimited bandwidth in the world amirborna. When you pay for an ISP - your paying for three things. Speed, Data, and Service Quality. Speed - from 256kb/s to over 25mb/s. Data - sometimes 1GB to over 100gb. Quality - If you find a cheap speed + data package, quality is usually skimped on. This could mean loss of "freebies aka features". My ISP offers free internet radio, free usenext account and over 5.6TB of files unmetered, as well as other popular sites. The connection is top-rated, stable, fast. It doesn't come cheap because of this. Sure, lots of people would just love to have unlimited bandwidth. Why pay for something when you can get it for free? To understand where this money is put into, it's essential to understand how the internet works. It's cheap and easy to network a country that's totally land-based. Simple, you just put cables in the ground. But what happens if you want to network your country to other countries? There's two choices. Satellite - But it's expensive to maintain, has limited bandwidth and high ping. Cables across the sea floor aka "Submarine Cables" - Even more expensive then Satellite (I assume) but you can shove more data through it and there's much less latency. It's simple in theroy - You get specialised ships with huge reels of cable on the back, and they just go through the ocean, dropping the cable as they go. The first "idea" of an internet started out as this. Basically, instead of using radio, the military tried putting a cable underwater and transmitting through that. It worked but was expensive and slow, used copper cabling, etc. Currently, the choice is fiber-optic, as it's able to punch alot of data through a small amount of space. Fibre optics degrade over distance, so power lines are combined with the fiber lines, and attacked to repeaters, which boost the optic signal. At each end, there's specialised receiver stations. They have to power the line, and keep backup power on standby. Huge generators and batteries as well as 24-hr crew. Also, cable breaks can happen, where specialised ships go out and fix them. Of course - all of this costs money, and that money has to come from somewhere. Sometimes a government might help out, but usually it's thanks to the ISP's. They tend to split the cost of the cable, and then forward the cost onto thier customers and other ISP's which piggyback the line, and thier customers. Fibre-optics are fast, but even so, they only add on (if I remember correctly) a few GB/s worth of data. This is the entire point of data caps - there just isn't enough capacity to let everyone use unlimited. For a cable to be even close to commercially viable, it has to transmit x amount of data over y amount of time. Back to where this goes from. My family uses a lot of Youtube (dad and brother mostly), a lot of other high-bandwidth sites. So, we pay for a high speed and alot of data, but we pay extra. Actually, we have a 55gb plan, and usually have some left over, but before we were on a 40gb plan before the ISP upgraded for free. My family of four could happily live on 40gb. Other familes might only pay for 512kb /10gb and be totally happy with it. So, let them be happy If you don't feel like your current plan is giving you enough data, then upgrade or cutback on usage. It's hard to use 40gb as it is, unless your doign alot of p2p, or running youtube constantly, etc.
  7. Imperial is a measurement system, so size. The main other alternative is Metric Imperial - The US measurement system (foot, inches, etc). This used to be more popular then the metric system, mostly because it came out long before metric. Mainly, it's difficult to convert from one to another, as it's not "exact". For example, there are 12 inches in 1 foot. Minus having to reteach everyone, I do *not* see the point of the US keeping this system. Metric - Practically what everyone else uses (cm, metres, kilo, etc). A lot more accurate and easier. 100cm in 1 metre.
  8. It's just like VLC. Better interface, much less bugs, and easier to understand for the novice/noob. However, it's windows only.
  9. What does Vista have anything to do with this? There's currently two active threads on these forums about this; where you'll find that point completely nullified.
  10. Hello, welcome to Xisto! Don't forget to read this when you can http://forums.xisto.com/index.php?actE=01&HID=18 as it contains important information about the site and credits system. What kind of graphics site are you looking to build exactly? Like a portfolio or something else?
  11. Unless I'm missing out on something, your telling me that they advertise 40gb/month with a 7mb download speed? Yet, your saying that isn't acceptable? Please tell me your joking, because if your not, your showing a severe lack of understanding in how all this broadband and data works and is priced out. By who's starnded? Australias?
  12. Although it's far from finnished, Cario Shell looks interesting. As for what you've asked, I have seen occasional ones. Usually they are so over bloated with crap and addons it's not good for day-to-day stuff. I did come across this one Ultra Explorer. (Note: Page is part of a frame from http://mustangpeak.net/) and it doesn't seem that bad. If you try it, tell me how it goes! edit:Fixed Link
  13. When they do it will be somewhat expensive at first. Always is. So just go for something with high mpg, and when you can switch, well, you'll love it even more for not taking expensive fuel
  14. If/when you do get ready to "move on", there's always the Atom Car http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/. I'm not saying it's any sort of replacement, but with how much he goes on, well, who knows. It's fast but safer. Good luck!
  15. I doubt it. Of course - the standard Firefox stores all your data in your user profile. Anyone without access to your profile cannot see your history, bookmarks, etc. Portable - being that it's all in the same folder, doesn't have such privacy lock.
  16. As since no one has pointed out, this review was from 2006 and hence totally outdated in today's market. Secondly - NEVER go for a single source when it comes to comparing items like this. Companies have been known to pay to get 5/5 stars. Say Product A was better then Product B in this review, but in four others, Product B was better. Yet you would of gone for Product A because you were slack on your research. Secondly, different reviewers get different results. You look for the ones that constantly give "good" results. There really isn't a "best" AV, just some bad ones, terrible ones, good ones, great ones. I'd go for a good one if it meant a stable system with few pop-ups.
  17. Your maths seems a bit wrong. 1024 * 1024 (1MB) = 1,048,576 1MB * 1024 (1GB) = 1,073,741,824 1GB * 40 (40GB) = 42,949,672,960 bytes 40GB * 8 bits per byte = 343,597,383,680 bits This is all correct. then you seem to go somewhere weird. 343,597,383,680/7,000,000 = 49,085 seconds Where the hell does 7,000,000 come from? 30 days * 24 hours = 720 hours 720 hours * 60 minutes = 43, 200 mins 43, 200 mins * 60 seconds = 2,592,000 seconds. So it can't be anything to do with the time of the month, yet your answer is in seconds. Where does 7 million come into this, and in what form? Comcast has always been a bad ISP from what I've heard. Companies like this who try to bully the customer around do so - but they never last. Just look at Microsoft's falling with Vista. No one liked it, plus there was the high cost and there were alternatives, hence people have migrated to other OS's or stayed on XP. I understand little of the US broadband market, but from what I've heard, it isn't good. However, sooner or later there will be something that topples Comcast and it's bad competitors. The question is when.
  18. I don't know where the locations are, but there could be lots of reasons for this. Say for example, the clouds had to traverse across a hill before it reached your town, it'd lose a lot of it's water hence not as much rain. However, I get the same thing too. The weather people aren't really up to it these days.
  19. First thing I bet anyone did when they were told to put their foot on the accelerator was rev it up, right? Secondly, go for a second hand but cheap to run car. You don't need your car tomorrow, so spend your time looking. Driving gets more natural as you go along. And you tend to get careless because of it, trust me as I'm 18 on August 6th. Just practice on not-so-busy roads until you get the hang of it,a nd feel more confident.
  20. There's no real harm in having two in the system, minus a slight power draw if you want to keep it that bad.
  21. Here's the problem - sorry for lack of "technical" words but they've escaped me for the moment. First - you don't need brackets around echo functions. This does the same thing, and the first method is most preferred too as it's easier to read. echo "text"; echo ("text"); So, to what's producing the error. echo('<fieldset><legend>'.$user[username].''s Profile</legend> What you've tried to do is put in a ' but in your current setting that ends the string. There's two ways to do this. One - put in a slash \ right before the second '. The \ makes the second ' as escaped. What this means is that php sees it as text, and not part of the syntax. The other is to use 'rabbit ears' aka ". Compare these. echo('<fieldset><legend>'.$user[username].'\'s Profile</legend>Username: '.$user[username].'<br />Email: '.$user[email].'<br />Real Name: '.$user[realname].'<br />Website: '.$user[website].'<br />Location: '.$user[location].'</fieldset>');echo "<fieldset><legend>{$user[username]}'s Profile</legend>Username: {$user[username]}<br />Email: {$user[email]}<br />Real Name: {$user[realname]}<br />Website: {$user[website]}<br />Location: {$user[location]}</fieldset>";Yes, there's significant difference between ' and ". Either can be used to start a string and end a string. The ending one has to be the same as the starting one. " is more special then your standard text - and here's why. Minus the last two, all of these are valid and will echo This is test text. $string = "test";echo "This is $string test"; //Check Noteecho 'This is '.$string.' test';echo "This is {$string} test";echo 'This is $string test"; // outputs This is $string testecho 'This is {$string} test"; // outputs This is {$string} test Note This method can only be used with simple variables. They cannot be used with arrays where you can select the position. This is what the {} are for. For Example. echo "This is {'te'.'st'} text";Note the addition taking place? You can do almost anything inside that bracket. To sum up - You can use "" and ''. You can use them inside each other without problems. "t'es't" (outputs t'es't). You can't do this - 't'es't' (outputs error). However, you can escape them to do this. 't\'es\'t' (outputs t'es't). That $ tells php that the string after it is in fact a variable. test //string $test //varible
  22. Go for the first package - if your finding it's not enough you can always upgrade. I assume anyway, but I don't know the sites rules.
  23. The "legality" of this is in dire question."Editing the buttons and texts" like removing copyright? Is the .swf online? If so, show me which one it is, then I might try to help. Being a flash developer, I always tend to scrutinise anyone trying to hack into .swf files. I'm sure you understand why. Here's the reason - why would you want to edit and recompile a swf in the first place? The *only* two reasons - 1) You've lost the fla source, which I can help with. 2) Your trying to rip other peoples work.Sorry for the suspicion but it's well-warranted in such cases as this.
  24. You don't see hackers becasue steam does it the (only) proper way - admins go through the games a lot and ban the cd-keys. And once it's banned from one server, it's banned from all servers that are "VAC enabled" (if I remember that name correctly).
