I'm just curious. Are you dual-booting 98 and XP so you can run the older legacy programs on 98?Web-pages get downloaded in the background by your browser, the only real way to make it any faster on a 56k modem is if the webserver serving the page uses gzip encoding and caching techniques on your end.Although you can set the bits higher in the operating system software, 56 kilobits is what your modem is bottle necked at in the firmware/hardware.

Composition IIYesterday, actuallyThe in-class activity for writing:The teacher, a hot looking mid-30s lady, told us to pick a photograph from her box of photos and we were to write a page about what we think is happening in the picture.Well, when it came time to discuss our writing, she went first. She was like, "oh my god, i mentioned boob in the first sentence.." The photograph was just a portrait, breast bone and up and she was wearing a turtle neck (the photo was of her). She went on to describe how she'll never wear turtle necks again cuz they make her boobs look big. LOLYea, the photographs were of her and her friends and various things throughout her life. Innocent photos, nothing indecent, of course. It gets better though. One of the students picked out a photo (at random). He saw what was in the photo, but he kept his writing clean. I forgot what he wrote, but as he read his writing, the photo got passed around, as with everyone else's when they read their writing.Anyways, the photo got back to the teacher. She was describing what really was going on in photos and mentioned that it was her in a dress at a freshman dance. The top was strapless and she had a hard time keeping it up. Her friend in the photo had a priceless look on her face. So the teacher wanted everyone to take a second look to have a laugh with the look on her friend's face. Well the picture was taken from a side view and as with all v-neck type of shirts, you can see the breast from the side. Well the funny thing was.. the whispering started. You could see her nipple! LOL.The teacher was like, "what are you guys whispering about, let me see". We told her. OH MY GOD IT WAS SO HILARIOUS. She's like, "you pervs, since '85 when the picture was taken, I never saw it". You had to have been there. The uproar brought in the teacher from next door and she showed him the picture. His reaction was so funny. It was such a laugh.I still laugh thinking about it. At least we're all adults and can laugh over something like that. The photo really was innocent. She worried about her teaching job, "oh my god, i made you all look at porn", oh man... so funny. We re-assured her though (she's a great teacher), we're not going to say anything. We all had a laugh.

You all should read up on the articles, etc that have been written over the research of marijuana. Marijuana was made illegal over racism and yellow journalism. I am writing a paper for school concerning this very subject. Maybe I'll post a few excerpts later. Here's an image of what may occur if marijuana was legalized, lol!

I've always gone to http://ngemu.com/ for all things emulation. It appears to be a good central hub on the Internet for anything to do with emulation of gaming consoles.

This might sound off the wall, but animals have been known to try and bite an area where a malignant tumor is. Maybe you picked up that your grandfather had a bad leg or something.

I live in America (USA). I have gotten alot of information thrown at me throughout the years about diet. This is a compilation of what I've come to conclude in my opinion.*) Diet pills. Stay away from them. Most will raise your metabolism (make you hungry again, lol), and without any food in you to burn as energy, you can suffer heart problems among other things. Once you stop the diet pills, it's like stopping caffeine intake or nicotine from cigarettes. You could put on more pounds than you had before. America looks for the quick fix, not good. I don't know how popular diet pills are elsewhere, but I heard England is getting fat also as it adapts some of America's ways. Overall, diet pills are damaging. People that want to lose the pounds, need to exercise, not rely on a pill. Exercise can be walking to and from school, cleaning up around the house, and doing chores. Don't be lazy couch potatoes watching TV or sit on the computer all day.*) Breakfast. You say you eat only a few pieces of bread. Great! Some people don't eat anything for breakfast. But think about this rationally. If you are just waking up from an 8 hour sleep, you haven't eaten anything for 8 hours. Do you midnight snack? It might help. You should eat large for breakfast. Make breakfast your dinner of the day. You will need energy throughout the day. Make it feel like an olympic breakfast. A full stomach will make you feel good, not tired, not right after waking up. Without focus being on your stomach, you'll be better off focusing on other things. Then for the rest of the day, eat small amounts whenever you feel hungry. *) Don't ignore hunger or you can actually end up gaining weight as a result! This is because your body freaks out and stores whatever fat it can as it doesn't know when the next meal is. Eat at the same times everyday. Your body will adapt the routine and start producing stomach acids to help digest food because it expects it. People that eat at random times are susceptible to heartburn and acid reflux (both suck). If you have either of those, a spoonful of vinegar will help or any acidic drink like apple or orange juice. WHAT? Yea! Read the ingredient on alka-selzer (which helps also). The main ingredient is citric acid! When I switched to 3rd shift working overnight, my sleep and eating routine changed and I had horrible heartburn to contend with at times. Now my body adjusted to the routine of when I eat and I no longer get heartburn.*) Dinner. You are about to go to sleep soon for 8 hours or however long. Your body won't be burning barely any calories. If you eat right before you go to bed, sure it feels good having a stomach full of food and may even help you fall asleep, but all that food gets turned to energy while you sleep and because you're not using it, it gets stored as fat. It's more difficult to burn your stored fat than burn any food that hasn't been converted to fat yet. A lot of people that aren't fat that I know, won't eat for a couple hours before they sleep. I always thought that was weird, but their physique shows proof.*) 30 minutes? A meal could be prepared in 10 minutes and shouldn't take you more than 5 minutes to eat. If it takes you longer to eat, you're probably eating too much. It takes longer for your body to realize you're full and if you're still eating, what then? During those 15 minutes, you shouldn't focus on anything else. When you eat 3 pieces of toast for those 30 minutes, what else are you doing? Can you do that stuff in 15 minutes if you devote the other 15 to making a good breakfast? What about stopping for breakfast somewhere on the way to school? Eat while you go to school if you don't have time. Sure the first few times you make a good breakfast for yourself, it will take a bit longer, but you'll get quicker at preparing food for yourself.*) If you ever worry about putting on pounds by eating so much, don't worry. As long as you're eating large and aren't lazy, you won't gain pounds, you'll be happier with more energy to do more things. There are foods, like corn, that inhibit your body from storing fat. Look into it. Mexican food, if you've ever had it, sometimes has guacamole and beans (both fattening if you're lazy), sometimes it's really greasy also, and you'd think it all to be a big fat project, hehe. But most of the people eat that food with corn tortillas and cook alot of things with corn and greasy oils, etc, yet stay very active in their lives. Not often do I see a fat Mexican person. They're not so influenced by watching TV all day or sitting on a computer. I see some fat Mexican people, but those people are drinking alot of beer or aren't very active or they're oaxacan (wo-hock-an) and are predisposed for it. I am half Mexican if you're wondering where the comments are coming from. Spicy foods can keep your metabolism high as well.*) When you eat food, pay attention to the recommended portion sizes. A 20 oz. bottle of soda will actually say 2 or 3 servings. What happens to people who simply eat or drink the entire package? They end up with more than they can use and start putting on the pounds. No good! Thirst is easily mistaken for hunger. If you're hungry, drink some fluids, if you're not hungry anymore, it means you were just thirsty. If you ate instead, again.. more than your body needs. Don't make the mistake of looking at the grams of fat on the nutrition labels and thinking that will automatically be fat in your own body. If you eat a fatty food, just like other foods, it will be broken down to simple and complex sugars before your body even thinks of storing it as its own fat. Stay active!Personally, I follow this but I don't think about it to do it, it's just how I eat. I don't get sick very often, and I'm an average physique. I am on the computer alot, but because I usually eat the most in the beginning of the day and go walking around alot and work at a factory, my weight hasn't changed for years. Always 180lbs, 5'7". I basically eat what I want, whenever I'm hungry. No special diet except that I eat the most in the beginning of the day instead of at the end. It's when I get depressed and start eating less is when I actually gain 20 lbs. Once I'm free of the depression, I enjoy food in all its glory and eat alot, I end up losing 20 lbs! The act of eating food will increase your metabolism.I know this all may seem contradictory to what people say, but I've paid attention to how people eat and what they ever say about it, and this is my opinion.

Can someone please explain how to refresh a page's content without doing the browser refresh?I made a simple php chat before but I had to keep refreshing the page. It made the sound that links make when you click them and it became annoying. It basically worked like a larger shout box.Does anyone know where I can get a voice chat? Either hosted or a script/server?

Youtube And Google News Blocked In China Amid Tibet
adrianator replied to FlameX's topic in General Discussion
The governments of today can no longer step in *quietly* to resolve a problem. What you don't know, you're not missing. If you live in tibet or wherever it is that you live and there are restrictions on the way of life, etc. That will be how you were brought up and you won't be missing anything. Some people don't like change very much, but China is in need of it. -
Reseller programs are also called affiliate programs, and sometimes other things. I always figured on making a site that promotes video games through barnesandnoble or whatever other web-site that will sell games and then creating a gaming system they can purchase through a reseller program, that will run the game. Boom, one product that sells well (games), and the systems that can run the game.I never thought about setting up these affiliate web-sites and selling them though, that's a good idea. And you'll have to either force your advertisements on their sites if you host them (which they may not like), or ask them to put the advertisements on themselves. Advertise your hosting and web-site building/selling services as well on customer sites and everywhere you can.If you're making that kind of money, you should look into purchasing a server, or turning an extra computer into an internet services server. Throw apache on it, etc. and host people's web-sites for a fee. Start them out with a pre-built site and it'll be up to them to promote the site and earn the commission. You sell the site and offer monthly hosting. You'll only have to pay for business class internet and the electric bill. Most people won't like the fact that you hide who hosts their web-site and they may want to hire someone else besides you to administer and update the web-site. That's their freedom, but if you're good with them customer satisfaction wise, they may look to you to do that also. You could even charge to promote their site wherever you can. Another service fee. It's all inclusive. However you want to run it, y'kno?

Is It Really Possible To Make Any Money Online?
adrianator replied to lefehe's topic in Business Forum
If you've ever hustled anything in your life, that's what you'll be doing online also. Whether it be selling a web-site's products through your own web-site through their affiliate programs or buying and selling items for a higher price, etc. Either way you need to constantly advertise your business or site online in networking web-sites and to friends and basically everyone you meet. Advertising and finding the right way to sell products and services is the main key to success. -
http://www.thinkgeek.com/electronics-gadgets/computer-accessories/ This web-site has both the keyboard with the illuminated custom keys and the virtual laser one. Many others are listed on the page as well. Very nice web-site and good affiliate program There are videos on the product pages too, very neat!

Sixth Sense Experience Has something like this ever happened to you?
adrianator replied to Mich's topic in General Discussion
My dad said that the white owl is a superstitious harbringer of something radical, like death or life change. A mexican superstition as far as I know. -
A soon as a child is able to make a phone call from a house phone... you should give them a cell phone. You never know. http://www.fireflymobile.com/ That site has cell phones for kids. It's kind of cool actually. I don't know about those phones, but I'm sure gps in phones can help find your child if it comes down to it. A child is less likely to be led into a 'get called and lured into a kidnapping' than be kidnapped and use their cell phone to call for help. Which would you rather have happen? Kids are very aware of the technology we have and how to use it. My 6 year old knows how to surf the web and dial some people's phone numbers by heart and she'll call them on her own. I don't think I'd ever get a contract plan for a child that might use more minutes racking up a bill. Get an unlimited minutes account or a prepaid. Show them how to use it and supervise their use of it for a while until they are used to and understand it's function and that it's a responsibility.

Sorry for the short reply, but aren't you asking about the future? It's always changing. An author may re-read a current publication and change his view about the direction he wants the future publications to go.When an author sells out to a studio to put it to film or what not, there will always be some loss or gain in the story line. When have you ever seen a movie that is strictly adherent to a book or video game?Stephen King's "cujo", at the end of the book, the kid dies of rabies and the mother survives, but in the movie... both the boy and mother survive. No one at the time would put a child's death on screen. It was lost in the paper to film translation.

Thinking the ouija can be used to contact spirits is the same as thinking absinth will make you see things. It's hollywood myth and what gives people the scare is the myth around it. It's a superstition. You're supposed to use it with more than one person, for obvious reasons. One of you will be moving it to the answer reflecting their own opinion or thoughts and constantly accuse the other of moving it. No one can definitely prove the myth.

I am often able to help out in tech forums where people ask for computer-related help, so I figured I should take it to the next step and charge for people to do it in person.I work full-time at a job that I really don't want to work at my whole life or much longer (I've strained my back once, don't want to make it worse). It's factory work and I don't like it. I'm going to school for an associate's degree in computer network systems, and I'll be graduating in October. In the mean time, summer is here and I want to give a crack at a low-budget computer repair business. I'm not going to quit my shift job unless this thing blows up on me and gives me a good income, then I might buy or lease a store front...My first concern is that, even though I know what I'm doing when it comes to computers, I have no certifications. I plan on servicing both Windows and Linux machines. Can anyone suggest some certifications? It's not a state requirement and I've been told that it's not all that necessary if it's your own business. I would just like to have them to fall back on if I choose to sell out my services to an established shop.My city's population is 100,000 and more in the surrounding area. The population is very diverse and hispanic services are easily profitable as there aren't very many spanish-speaking professional freelance services in the area.Anyways, I got a check list of things I need:Business card and magnetic backings, going to place them right on their computers or their fridge and hand them out at every opportunity I get.Price Comparison sheet with popular pricing and my own discounted pricing and what general services I offer. I've looked at some of the services listed by the competition and I can easily perform those services for a lot cheaper than what they charge.I still need a tool kit and some testing equipment and a static clip thing.I'm going to throw up a web-site and create an in-home presentation. I'm going to advertise on social networking sites to local people and in the newspaper and hispanic magazine. I am spanish bilingual but not fluent, another issue I need to overcome if I advertise in that magazine. That magazine is free and thousands of hispanics read it through and through because it's not that large of a publication. I looked and there were no computer-related advertisements and it's only a few bucks to advertise. I'll be putting a posting on craigslist and maybe some other networking sites (any suggestions?). I don't know if I can create an eBay 'store' for services offered, can I? or are there sites for that?Every 10th routine service will be free (incentive for repeat business). I plan on tracking customers using a database with their name, address, phone number, and the equipment they have. That way I know their name and what I'm servicing when they call again. I have a book a receipts to write what they've purchased or got serviced. I also plan on making satisfaction calls after the fact. I also plan on keeping a list of things I've done for personal reference and customer feedback for new customers to view.I need backup software and storage media to back up everything before I touch it (how long should I keep a backup for?). Anti-virus type of software... should I have that installed on my own computer and run a check on the media? Is that how the shops do it? I can always offer the software for purchase or with a package even. Which brings me to another question: Linux is free, but Windows requires a license key. How do I go about getting a customer a license instead of making them spend so much on a windows cd?There is a tigerdirect.com warehouse very close by and the last time I ordered anything, it showed up on the next business day. What my question is, their affiliate program is limited to purchasing items through a referral id linked from a web-site. I know with paypal, and other services? you can accept a customer credit/debit card and transfer funds to your account, I'll be able to purchase the parts/items that way. I suppose this question should be for their support, but would or how do I get a referral commission, if I am the one purchasing it through the account, like if they paid me cash? What kind of contracts should I have them sign and is it better to take their computer with me or service it right their in their home? I know if I take it with me, they have to be reachable to get it back to them when it's ready or after a set amount of days it can become my property.-------------------------Has anyone done this type of business, do you mind if I see your business plan? Does anyone have any comments or suggestions? I'm not sure if I'm missing anything important. I feel like I can easily do these things, but I get so jittery and nervous if someone even mentions that they have someone they could refer to me. It's that feeling I get, "what if I can't solve their problem" or like, "what if they aren't satisfied?".I would also like to see some people discuss some experiences they've had doing this sort of work and the things they've fixed and how,. I'm very savvy but I don't really know what to expect servicing people's computers. I also am considering throwing together custom build computers or even do work for businesses and set them up with a small network with whatever they need.

Sup everyone. I got approved for webspace here. I used it for my clan's web-site. There aren't very many servers on v1.30 Quake, and this server mentioned is where most of everyone hangs out. So it's easy to recognize the same players. It's fairly active throughout the week and weekend with a diverse amount of players from the United States to Australia. Because it's a community of people, the competitive atmosphere is very high. We all are usually on a freeze rail server: 8.3.5.58:27960 TP LA They also have a 1 vs 1 rail server: 8.9.8.118:27960 TP Chicago TP's web-site is http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ The web-site I threw together for my clan is /gods.kicks- but the swear filter takes out the word for donkey, if you can figure that out I go by ^mal!gnant{GoDS} or a couple other aliases. If anyone has quake and can't get into them servers, it's because you are on the wrong version, for which you can do a google search for a version switcher Hope to see you frag it up on the servers

It's easy fix.If you can open CTRL+ALT+DEL. Do so.Click Task Manager button.File > New Task (run...)Type: msconfigIn msconfig look at your .ini files on the tabs presented. I think on the win.ini...You'll see a line that saysshell=Well if something else besides explorer.exe is there, that's what happened to your desktop. Either delete the line entirely or putshell=explorer.exeThat's one possibility though,,,

Mmorpg Vs. Rpg Is the traditional RPG a dying genre?
adrianator replied to TikiPrincess's topic in Computer Gaming
MMORPGs, the thing I have against them is it seems like all hack n slash, and in the case of Diablo, only a few 'master' goals like defeating Baal and Diablo. The fact that people do Baal and Diablo runs is enough display of insanity. What's the ultimate goal of an mmorpg? To have the highest level, have the best items, it's all a display of 'hey, look at what I got'. If your friend dies in the game, he'll just respawn. There's no sense of loss and heart-ache that can come from playing out an RPG like Final Fantasy 7. The replay value isn't quite there, but makes a good plot line. What we need are MMOFPS (massive multiplayer online first person shooters). I'm not talking about hopping into a 'round' and hoping your team wins. I'm talking about a game that could strengthen what a clan stands for. A clan could gain control of territory and recruit more players that can either defend the territory when they're online or seek out new territories to conquer. An actual war with resources. Farm land for food. And the consequences of razing a village to get to the enemy. A balance of survival. It would be like starcraft or warcraft where a new clan has to find a remote piece of land to build on and hope not to be found or join an existing clan and buildings have to be built, skills mastered. All in first-person though. It could be more complex than just going around shooting people. Your character could raise in ranks and become protected and harder to assassinate. Maybe it's too crazy of an idea.If I were to make an mmorpg and had unlimited funds to pay people to make it, it'd be a virtual medieval world. Everyone has a job, and a war would take actual planning and cooperation of many people, spies could exist. It'd be up to people to catch liars, can't be everywhere at once so your job is your job. You could choose peace and serenity in the virtual world, and possibly forced into slavery, etc by other players in different positions. How you choose to lead your life in the virtual medieval world may not be entirely up to you. Players looking to build a city would be able to, or they could choose to be nomadic. All walks of life, real people behind each character and jobs to do, the cooperation of everybody to build something great or take over something great. THAT would be a great mmorpg. It'd be boring, if you think the sims to be boring. Things would take time to develop, it'd be exciting to be in the middle of a villager revolt. Anything could happen. People that rise or get voted to power face collecting taxes and recruiting & paying people for doing jobs like policing the citizens, etc.Maybe an mmofps with a viscious non-terrestrial threat that just happens to be everywhere and not always in view. Can still shoot each other, but when hordes of this threat (on a scale we've only seen in movies) appear, people aren't going to be shooting each other! People will be able to boast their kill counts and weapons, more than just a set of weapons. This would be a pointless shoot em up mmofps, but fun none the less.I keep reading what I say and none of it makes much sense, so I'm just going to post this reply anyway. -
I don't get it. When did it become wrong to have a photograph taken while you're wearing a swimsuit? First a teacher, then some female Mayor. The list goes on.For one, as far as I ever saw on TV. Most of the coastal regions by the oceans... people walk around on a daily basis with swimwear for clothing. If a significant other once wanted a photograph of such, then so be it. Why prosecute? There's no ground for it. We're so stuck with an image of how someone should be, that we forget they're human also. If someone got drunk once and made a fool of themselves years ago & pictures surface, they shouldn't be damaging and the people in the spotlight should defend themselves. "Hey, that night was really fun. It was the night we all got a ride home by my sober parents"... "Oh! That picture was taken when our family went down to the Carribean. The fire station near the beach let us dress up and take pictures, it was a fun time." People need to gain some guts and defend themselves.Conservatives and fascists are making laws that are restricting how we dress (can't let your pants hang in some states anymore), how we conduct ourselves, and whatever else. I haven't researched enough to make enough arguments but a point is being made: our government is starting to invade the rights of the citizens, especially our freedoms of speech, the right to bear arms, and so on. The population is terrified of being suspect of terrorist activity or wearing a swimsuit anymore.Be careful what you say nowadays, someone with a government ear may be listening. Can't even get a call girl ::whoops, that is actually illegal in some states:: too bad for that New York guy.Another thing I can't stand. Everytime a violent game comes out, it hits the news that children across the world are playing a violent game. Excuse me for the caps but DOESN'T ANYONE KNOW WHAT THE ESRB RATINGS ARE? Ignorant parents who think it's fine for a kid to be busting a cap at the police so they can steal their cruiser, in a game, will find out the day their children do something illegal. I'm not saying games make adults commit crimes, but children are impressionable (well some adults are too). It's just not right. Don't blame the games for existing. PORN EXISTS!! But you don't hear anything about the countless children that may be exposed to it being on the Internet and how many end up committing sexual crimes, but can porn be the blame in that aspect? No. Blame the parents for being ignorant of the great ESRB ratings. Either way, some ignorant, conservative, fascist dude out there is gonna try to ban the game. Games are an expression of speech, a way of telling a story, an art form so to speak. A freedom.-whew, such an angry post-

What Do You Guys Think About People Who Sleep Around ?
adrianator replied to LocalSeer's topic in General Discussion
Don't listen to anyone that tells you she's a **** or a *BLEEP* or any of those other nasty words. Honestly though, the STD and pregnancy thing is always a threat. Swinging is a common thing amongst those who simply enjoy the act of sex. Just like men, women love sex, only some are too prude. Don't listen to those people who say you should settle down with one person either. They are probably stuck with someone they don't even like that much and are jealous that someone can sleep around still or stuck on a religious agenda or they're just projecting their morals, which is really their own opinion. It's possible that her 'repeat' sexual encounters with the 'same' partners were ex-boyfriends of hers or once were potential boyfriends. Who hasn't slept with an ex... again, after a break up? She could be looking for the right guy or treating all her men like a harem. What's wrong with that? Is it possible that she's not satisfied with the men she's met so far and her repeat booty calls are the ones that almost fit the bill for her, but she's still looking for mr. perfect? She probably looking for a good bedroom trait first, which isn't so bad. Don't listen to people who stereo-type sex and simply associate it with low self-esteem and depression. WHY? Why do I hear about depression and low self-esteem from at least one person everytime sex is brought up. Could it be that person is just projecting his/her own feelings onto the person who is getting some? Maybe the low self-esteem comes from the idiots who go around calling people names? What about them, aren't they attention getters by putting someone down? And who has the low self-esteem? Just remember, everyone can get real friends. No one needs friends that go behind your back and say things. There's no need to confront them about it either. Just simply stop talking to them. Not everyone can be friends with everyone, so just deal with it. How does that one line go... "have fun with all the wrong ones until you find the right one", you'll never see the right one if you're messing around with all the wrong ones. That's my advice if you're looking for the right one, unless its the sexual traits you desire the most, but just think, sex may go with age. Then again, I hear about old people having sex and even swinging! When she talks openly about it, she's possibly offering an invitation rather than trying to brag about it. Women talk. They talk about what they do, it's that simple. If that's what she did on the weekend, then she says so. Tell her that certain people don't need to hear it (the ones who call her names, etc). Tell her to be more decisive in who she conversates that subject with. Tell her you don't want to see her hurt by getting an STD and stay protected with condoms. If the men are just booty calls, they probably have more booty call than just her. Booty call happens. Btw, there are terms less derogatory that people can use to describe a person. -
Massage Therapy Is A Great Pain Eliminating Therapy
adrianator replied to darjin's topic in Health & Fitness
I do something to ease pain. When it hits, it's like I'm in another world, free of pain, daily routine thought, and worry. I get that elated feeling that lets me sink into the couch with a big grin on my face. Complete relaxation, and then I get to think about things I don't normally think about on a regular basis and wonder about things. I don't think about what has to be done or anything worrysome. It becomes a euphoria. Pain free, care free, and feeling very good. That's what I like. It's great therapy, but as soon as things in life stress me out, I want to go back to it. I'm not sure if that's helpful.
