  1. First off I will talk about the free hosts seeing as that would be the most popular. Xisto.com (obvious one to start with I think) This has to be the very best free webhost I have EVER seen. It is easy to get credits, you do not have to have ads on your site, the staff and members are very helpfull if you have issues and the package you get is great for a free host. Stats: Cost: Free Storage: 500MB Bandwidth (monthly): 10GB Databases: unlimited mySQL Email Accounts: Unlimited Scripting languages: CGI, PHP, SSI, FrontPage Extensions, Java, Perl Requirements: Forum posting URL Type: domain or sub domain ---------------------------------------- x10hosting.com This place is the worst I have been on. I had my site there for a few months and it was down for at least 40% of the time. Granted they were changing servers around but the impression I got was that they were NOT professional about it at all. It seemed like a bunch of kids playing with some toys. Also they would bann people for speaking about problems on their forums. Any small problem with how they ran the place was dealt with by a bann. Also they are very anal about their banner rule, even popups have to have a banner as it is counted as another webpage (my site was shut down for a few days due to this). I DO NOt SUGGEST EVER GOING HERE. (unless you like downtime and being banned because someone is in a bad mood or doen't like what you say) Cost: Free Storage: 2,500 MB Bandwidth (monthly): 45GB Databases: 5 mySQL Email Accounts: 15 Scripting languages: CGI, PHP, SSI, FrontPage Extensions, Perl, Python. Requirements: 468 x 60 Banner (on the top of every page, including pop ups) URL Type: domain or sub domain ----------------------------------------- Dreamhost.com I LOVE this paid host. It is definitely the best one I have found. I checked all around when I switched from Xisto for something good (especially seeing as I was spoiled on Xisto) and I ran into this site. Just the stats alone are great but the reviews I have seen are almost all positive. One really nice thing about this site is that the bandwidth and storage amount you can use rase each week you are with them! Also they have great prices and you can get promo codes for various things including $50 off for new accounts. (Some of which I will give you here BTW) Cost: $10.95/month - $5.95/month (depends on the term from monthly up to 10 years) Storage: 500GB (raises by 2gb a week) Bandwidth (monthly): 5tb (raises by 40gb a week) Databases: Unlimited mySQL Email Accounts: unlimited Scripting languages: PHP, Unix shell, CGI, Frontpage Extensions, Ruby On Rails, SSI, SVN, others Requirements:none URL Type: Domain or sub domain (they offer 1 free domain) Misc: 97 day money back guarantee, free whois privacy Here are some codes to use if you are planning on getting hosted here (just click the code to have it automatically filled in for you): RACURIA1010 - +10% disk space and bandwidth RACURIADOM - +3 free domain names RACURIA20IP - +free Unique IP and $20 off RACURIA50 - $50 Bux off (BTW yes those are referral links but the money i get for referrals go into the promo codes that I am offering to you guys to give you better services (each code removes money that I would get if u didn't use the code and signed up saying I referred you)) ------------------------------ ALSO one interesting thing I found. Hostingmonster.com I went to check this site out because I liked what they offered so I was going to go through the usual routine of asking about their stuff (things like if they allow adult sites, which could end u getting your site accidentally blocked by blocking software if you both are on the same IP.) I logged into their live chat support to talk to a sales rep. When I logged in I asked the question about adult sites and the sales rep pointed me to their terms of service (which I could not find) saying that it was against them. I then skimmed over the TOS quickly to see if i had any other questions and found a part about profanity not being allowed on their servers and was wondering about this (I planed on having a chat and forum and did not want them shutting me down because someone else posted something I didn't catch) The sales rep was 100% honest with me, he said that the business is located in Utah USA and so the servers are governed by the local reignign religion's views and beliefs. This honesty first SHOCKED THE HECK OUT OF ME, then I came to the conclusion that that host is not a good one due to the fact that religious beliefs should not enter into the affairs of a business that caters to different people and different belief systems, that and a lot of beliefs that the owners hold directly conflict with mine. HOWEVER I would like to point out that this site does have a good package and would be a nice place to have a website if you are not worried about things like religious views possibly skewing the rules.
  2. I would like to close my hosting account because I am moving to a new paid host but I am unsure how to close the account so that if I need to in the future I can open it without having negative credits. (I realize that all my info from my site will be wiped and if I reopen it will be from scratch and Ill probably need to get the 30 creds again and what not)
  3. I am looking at different solutions for paid hosting and I know that that Xisto has some connection with a paid hosting company and I would like more info about it because I like the way this place is run and it has been a good place to have my website. So what is the site for the paid hosting?
  4. Thieves broke into the Des Moines Golf and Country Club on Monday morning. They used a reciprocating saw to attempt to cut into the safe but couldnt get in. In staid they stole some tennis rackets and shoes and left a note to the people who owned the place. The note was scribbled on plain white paper in large ink letters saying (Expletive) you and your safe The 2 thieves then attempted to escape in their vehicle when a security officer saw some of the stolen good fall out of the back and took down their license plate which led cops to the thieves themselves. http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ Personally I would think that a note like that would be nice to see. Always nice to make the bad guys mad
  5. The nuclear safety adviser in Maine is being paid $71,000 a year and yet there is no nuclear plants in Maine. Maine lawmakers were supposed to remove the funding for the nuclear safety adviser position yet again but the funding was snuck back in last minute. The crazy thing however is that there is no such post. In 2005 the Legislature cut the position however they did not cut the funding for it so the nuclear safety adviser is being paid a $71,000 salary plus benefits and office expenses totaling $118,000. In 2004 an agreement was reached where by the budget for monitoring the decade old nuclear power facility was supposed to go down to $170,000 in 2009, from the current $360,000 which would have cut out the spending on the nuclear safety adviser. Another bill was rejected that would have kept the budget at $360,000 because it was a disguised attempt for the originator of the bill, Sen. John Martin, to keep his friend (the nuclear safety adviser) in the position. However, Martin slipped it in the supplemental budget the night bipartisan negotiations fell apart, and it was ultimately approved by the Democratic majority in the full Legislature. http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/
  6. As if learning to fly a plane wasn't easy enough now some students (and other pilots) are possibly being shot at.Two planes so far have been found with bullet holes while flying out of Tamiami Airport in Kendall Florida and the FBI have no clue where they are from.Federal Aviation Administration has told airmen at Tamiami to make a steep approach when landing to cut down on the chance of becomming a target.Pilots such as Robert Dean, who also runs a flight school out of the airport, are worried about being shot at."It could kill," Dean said. "That's super dangerous, so somebody who is doing something like that really needs to think about it."So far nobody has been caught for doing this (as of May 15th).I am thinking of learning to fly and I am quite glad I live no where near this airport (or Florida for that matter) I can't Imagine being shot at while flying a small personal plane such as a Cessna. You only expect this stuff in combat aviation (it might be worth it to get to fly a supersonic jet tho...)
  7. This blog has a copy of a newspaper article from 1943 on how to deal with women in the workplace. Their instructions include things like: ""husky" girls ~ are more even tempered and efficient than their underweight sisters." Get a doctor to examine the physical "female condition" to see "whether the employee-to-be has any female weaknesses which would make her mentally or physically unfit for the job." "Women are often sensitive; they can't shrug off harsh words the way men do" It is insane how we used to treat women as some sort of alien creature. If anyone uttered words like this now days they would be either beat or fired. (and most definitely wouldn't be getting a wife or girlfriends for a LONG time) It also is a little crazy that this stuff was actually printed in a newspaper (Which I presume women might read (back then most likely after the man was done with it)) Its no wonder women got mad and went off on a mission for equal rights. http://www.yesbutnobutyes.com/archives/200_in_the_wo.html
  8. I would like to point my .com at my forums on here but am unsure how to do it. BTW my site is http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/
  9. This is a hoax. So far there have been NO male pregnancies no matter how many people claim that there have been.If there was it would be published in medical texts not on some website. Plus the insanely high risk of an ectopic pregnancy would make it VERY VERY risky.Plus this site has been around for years anyways (at least 3 that I know of)
  10. yes its racuria.trap17.com and i turned off all omy popup blockers and even tried opening it in IE Explorer but got the same results
  11. That movie was the most pathetic crap ever.I swear it made me wish i had a gun to kill myself with while watching it. (I didn't finish it)The actors are all idiot kids and their parts are retarded.Seriously this is the kind of stuff id expect 7 or 8 year olds to like.I really am sad that the Disney channel is full of this kind of junk now days, what ever happened to Mickey Mouse, Tail Spin, Duck Tails, Darkwing Duck and all of them awesome cartoons, now all you have is idiot young teens acting like well idiots...
  12. *Humming the MacGyver song already*I love MacGyver, I grew up watching him and I still watch him on DVD today. I LOVE the cheezy 80s stuff and the whole inventivness of his escapes.I also credit him with making me like fixing stuff.
  13. I LOVE Rockey Horror Picture Show. It is simply the most fun movie experence I have EVER had.The fact that it is more experence then movie is what makes it fun.If you ever go to a showing be prepared for insanity (and dancing) Also I suggest you watch the movie at home before going because during parts you WILL miss whats going on due to people shouting, throwing things, jumping and dancing and hassling the actors.Oh and try not to get annoyed by the guy next to you yelling, its part of the fun, join in. (I had some people at a RHPS showing get mad at me for yelling back at the actors and I had to explain that it was part of the show, the woman got into it a bit but the man was mad and they ended up leaving)If your lucky the showing you go to will allow thing like hot dog throwing, squirt guns, and other stuff and may even have a bag of goodies for you to buy there (each place will place different restrictions on what can b done so check before hand if you plan to bring the stuff from home as you may get thrown out )
  14. Just got done watchign American Gangster. It was a great movie, I love gangster stuff anyways and the true story aspect is what got me interested in the first place.I was impressed with Denzel Washington playing Frank Lucas, He was a very convincing Gangster. I loved how he just looked like he could cold bloodedly kill someone in the street and then go back and sit down and have dinner like nothing happened. My only major gripe with the movie was that the cops WOULD NOT tail people as close. Even a 5 year old would spot the tail if they did like in that movie.
  15. Personally I love BOTH, they both are funny and unique. I however think I like Simpsons just slightly more due to the fact that I have been a fan for a LONG time. Also I love the Simpson's video games too (I still like the one for the NES, Invasion of the Space Mutants i think its called.)
  16. ok, I assume from what you are saying you are trying to make a site using some pre set up website. What kind are your trying to make (did you use a template or some sort of CMS liek wordpress or joomla)Are you trying to add images to the page and need to know the code (if so the html code for images is <img src="LINK-TO-IMAGE-HERE"> ) (make sure not to steal bandwidth by linking to other people's images)Are you trying to upload the image and don't know where to put it?
  17. nope, nothing but that screen there, It doesn't even go to the login screen I type in the url, it redirects to http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ and then it stays loading for a while and fails with that error screen.
  18. I am trying to get ot my cpannel but it won't let me connect. I am using Firefox, I cleaned out my cashe and my cookies. I go ot http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ and i get a page with this message:
  19. What the painkillers can do to you depends on the type. For instance abuse of Ibuprofen (Motrin or Advil) or Asprin (Bayer) can cause stomach problems (it will actually eat a hole in your stomach lining)Acetamenifen (Tylenol) can damage your liver. Also these medicines are not chemically addictive (like meth, coke, heroin or other street drugs) If you are "addicted" it is more of a mental thing then anything, subconsciously you feel comfortable when taking these meds or you have associated the taking of these meds with something good and it makes you feel good to take them because of the association.I would bet (I don't know you so I'm not sure) that you have a mild form of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. It might be worth a trip to the doctor to see if either you have OCD or if your abuse of the painkillers has caused adverse effects that are causing the stomach pain.
  20. Well don't do it on what yoru friends think, decide by what YOU like, they are nto the one shellign out hundreds of bux for a system.NOW here is my suggestions:X-box 360: This system mainly has first person shooters on it. It seriously lacks any remarkable games that are outside the FPS genre. (except some games u can get on other systems like GTA 4) If you love FPS games (And are willing to play against some of the most psycho fanatics when online) get this system. This system also has a really good online setup due to microsoft having developed it for longer then any other console company.PS3: This is the all around ok system. It has games that are good in pretty much any category but doesn't really have its own special games that will warrant getting just cuz of that game. It also has probably the best graphics IMO of all the systems. ALSO It can play blu-ray disks so it can double as a movie player (Wii cant play anything without a mod (that I know of) and X-Box 360 had a hd-dvd player u could buy but thats about worthless now) This is however the most expensive system to buy. I would recommend this for people who have a lot to spend for gaming and are not really specific as to what they want to play or likeWii: Probably the most fun especially for multiplayer games. The Unique controls are a big plus. Also like you said super smash bros brawl is one of the best games out ATM. HOWEVER its not easy to get one, third party games are either sucky or non existent and the wiimote can be a pain to use for some games (where u hold it sideways and play with it, it is annoying) Get this system if you like multiplayer games (especially at home with friends or family) and or unique stuff. (sadly the only system that GTA 4 is not on) OH YEAH and if u buy it in stores its the cheapest system too.Oh yeah as you might have guessed, i don't recommend buying systems on the system but rather what you want to do with the system.
  21. Not 100% true. Some cracks ARE ligit (tho I can not talk about rapidshare stuff cuz i haven't specifically checked that out myself) HOWEVER use your brain if you are trying to get something like this. First off there is no program that can "crack" a file sharing website. If you wanted to get a free account you would have to actually find soem security flaw in the website and hack it. Cracks are only for actual programs on your computer. Second if you do decide to download ANYTHING with a crack in it first thing you do is scan it for viruses. If it says its a virus DON'T USE IT NO MATTER WHAT THE PERSON (or website) WHO GAVE TI TO YOU SAID!!! Third (tho it probably should have been first) RESEARCH WHAT YOU ARE DOING B4 DOING IT. So many people see the word free and then their mind goes str8 out the window. Also with the nothing comes for free comment, true, BUT the payment might only be a little bit of time or some bandwidth or a little bit of knowledge or a click on a banner which most people would see as "free" (check out the p2p communities, you can get loads of stuff and the only thing you have to do in return is share the stuff with others and a lot of people consider it to be free (the MPAA and RIAA does))
  22. I used phpbb3 before i bought my vbulletin license. It worked fine and was nice. Also here are some links that will help u compare different forums: http://www.forummatrix.org/ http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ Note I suggest a forum coded in php that is compatible with a mysql database
  23. Honestly, the easiest way to get people to register on your site is to have something they want, be it info, a service, or a product. All the tips you gave were good to but it ultimately comes down to wither or not they want the stuff your website has to offer. Also one other thing, DON'T OVER LOAD THEM. If you have 500 different things on your site it is hard for peopel to find what they want. Sure little cool things liek shout boxes or forums or that really awesome video you saw are nice to have and share but direct your visitors to what they are there for. In short keep the site about what the site is about.I see a lot of sites that have loads of different things on their main page and it almost looks like they are trying to create a new social networking site all in one page. Also keep the graphics to an ok amount. If your site takes an hour to download then people won't care what you have. Also make sure your site is coded correctally, verify it with WC3 to make sure it can be viewed on all browsers (this is especially important with the rise of cell phone internet)IF you have an online product and the ability, one of the BEST THINGS EVER is live support via chat. When I go looking for a product on the net (Especially if i am unfamiliar with said product) I LOVE to see that little "live online help" sign. Even if I never use it it makes me feel good to know that if i need help there is someone who i can contact. These are just a few things to help. There are LOADS more but if you really need ot know what is up go googling it, remember the best ideas (and most profitable) are researched A LOT even before you get your site.
  24. If you have the program spybot S&D there is a tool in i that will help you with this, it can give extra information on the stuff you are stopping like where the service originated from (as in what folder) which can help you make a more informed decision as to wither or not it is useful. (It also will tell you if a startup item is associated with a virus and color codes the entries as to what level of safeness they are, Green for good, yellow for unknown or optional, and red for dangerous or bad)
