  1. Whatever way you look at it, the site is at an all time low, I've been here 3 years now, and when I was first here there was never not a mod online, there was always new topics, getting credits was simple because there was always something you could reply to, these days it's just dead, I used to enjoy just talking to people in the chat room, but I sit in there for a while and no one comes along so I leave, I know I've never been one for extended stays but I'm not a forum person normally, but this place was a community. Now it's just a forum. I hope Opaque will turn this place around because it needs it, I proffered the old forum before the update, everything was easier, it was just a much better place to be.

  2. Yes, Baniboy, the one that I am certainly not going to forget to put on my list is W3Schools, I follow the PHP/MySQL tutorial chapter by chapter there.

I just installed WAMP on my PC (Yes, I use Windows, Windows 7 Ultimate, by the way) an I will now have a look what it is doing.

Anyway, looks like you have been giving me some great advice (again), I shall be checking it out now.

    Thank you once again.

Excellent Excellent, Wamp is a great piece of software, in terms of coding on windows I've been using Aptana Studio 3 and I really like it, and might I recommend if like me you are into video screencasts the excellent "diving in to php series" by Jeffrey way of Nettuts, it helped me a lot, and it is really fantastic. Net.tutsplus.com is a fantastic site anyway and I really enjoy their CodeIgniter from scratch series which goes through the PHP framework I use (yes I use a framework, I'm lazy).

I'll link you to the Diving in to PHP series, it is for absolute beginners to PHP so it's a good resource: LINK

Go through their PHP tutorials, especially their screencasts. They are truly excellent!

  3. The Bible is give us to know and to search the truth. Many are to blinded about it,and they are teaching in many different knowledge that come not from God.The Bible is give to know that Jesus died for them and the Bible says God condemned those who do not believe Him.God did not say in his word to threatening people or to make believe him. There is a reason why God wants people to believe Him.One is He is God who made us life, who created all things ho give souls, and who sent Jesus to die and to pay for our sin.We need to believe him because he is the one will save us ,the only way to Heaven.John14:6,acts4:12.
God will not force you to believe him,but he wanted you to trust him for salvation, and if not God will caste you out in hell. it is you choice!

No, it isn't. It is BlackMail, it is the very definition of the word. I choose to not be part of his choice, I don't want to go to heaven or hell, My CHOICE the choice I have made is to die and for everything to end. God or any being has NO right to blackmail me into worshipping him, and if he sends to to hell he is malevolent. You call us blinded but you are blinded to reason, that you can't see that any being that would punish another for eternity can never be benevolent. Only malevolent

  4. While I disagree with your first statement Janissary

An atheist person has also a belief. S/he believes in that there is no God. S/he checked his heart and decided that there is no God. Not through proof but through faith.

While Atheists have a belief, our belief is that a convincing case for God has not been made we do not have faith. You cannot have faith that something does not exist, you do not have faith that fairies don't exist. We do not need to disprove God because for one thing it is logically impossible to do so, but for another the burden of proof lies with the person making the claim, we make no claim so have no burden, obviously if presented with evidence of God then it would be our burden to show that it isn't convincing else change our position, since no such satifactory evidence exists we have no burden. We do not have faith.

For the rest I agree with you, I would rather my family or children be christian or muslim because they came to it by thinking about it rather than being an atheist just because I am. I think that to call them 'evil' is going too far, Evil doesn't exist in my opinion but it is certainly a shame, to see so many minds calling themselves Christian or another religion (or even atheist) having never considered the issue.

As for Mr "Tricked By Satan" I have not been tricked by Satan, for one thing he doesn't exist and for another I would believe in God if there was evidence of him, No such good evidence has been presented, instead we have scientific discoveries backed up by a *BLEEP*ton of physical evidence which tell us exactly how things came to be in naturalistic terms. Every arguement that there has ever been for God has been shown to either be false or require 'faith'. Faith is an unjustified position, it isn't even a justified belief, it is an unjustified one. It is irrational to the extreme to assume without evidence the existance of an impossible being, whose very being philosophically contradicts itself "can God create an object so heavy he can't lift it?" in terms of Christianity, the bible is the most hideous work of fiction ever written because it calls itself fact, where the supposed Benevent God is more horrible than any of the people he supposedly sends to hell. It is clearly written by Humans, men. It is sexist homophobic, supports slavery, contradicts itself in numerous places and is incoherant with itself and the external world as we understand it.

  5. Unlike kobra500 said, you don't use CSS Selectors for inline CSS (unless for things like :hover or :focus), what he probably meant was you use property: value;. Probably mixed them up. Selectors are ways to target elements (for example I use "div {...}" to target div elements) and you use properties to modify the elements behavior. Properties then contain values, for example: "background: white;". Here "background" is the property and "white" is the value. I know you probably didn't need this, but the terms are damn confusing anyway, someone else might find this helpful if you don't.
Here's an example of inline CSS (XHTML):

    <div style="font-family: Tahoma, Arial, Helvetica; border: none;">lallalaalaalallalaa</div>

    Hope you found this helpful.

PS. Here's a link to clear up which are properties and which are selectors: W3Schools CSS reference.

You are correct, I did mean property, while my CSS knowledge isn't bad my general terminology knowledge is. But yes, Baniboy illustrated it better than me, I was giving a general formula, Baniboy gave a specific example which for all intensive purposes shows the same thing.

  6. Hi there,

This is karthe. I'm here to share my experience.

    This is me...

    I Belive in God

    I Belive in Ghost

    I Belive in Soul

    I Belive in Dreams

    I Belive in Supernatural

Tonit 12.30 AM 01.02.2011 (Incident Time)

I was near to sleep i felt half a way to deep sleep,I was thinking about soul. how my soul is feeling with my body, I should take care of my soul, is that possible to see the past life by my soul ? My soul will help me to do this ?

These all running in my mind.

Suddenly i've got a vibration, I felt like my soul is trying take me to somewhere. My soul is few inches above my body(not much distance). I got feared of it so i'm trying not to move my soul. Trying to shake my body, trying to speak, trying to call my roommate near to my bed, But i can't do anything. Then i called my roommate after a great struggling. Main thing is my eyes are wide open, I'm in good consious on that time. I felt that it is not ghost or dream. I don't ve guts on that time.

Is that possible to allow my soul to do these kind of things ?

    Is that good ?

The obvious explanation is you were asleep, and were dreaming, or having a nightmare which are the same thing. People have very odd dreams. The point is that it wasn't real, you said it yourself "I was half-asleep" I find it amusing that almost no cases of supernatural experience happen after someone has had 8 cups of coffee after having a good nights sleep, there always when a person is exhausted because they've been praying for about 8 hours straight or working hard or sitting too close to a leaking gas valve. Or in your case "half asleep" or in otherwords "asleep"

  7. Hello,
I found some stylesheets for making tables with rounded corners.
Everything seems to work well (except in Internet Explorer, of course, but that is no big surprise) but I have one problem:

In the HTML code, within the <head></head> tags, there is obviously a reference to the CSS that goes with the HTML code, and the code looks like this:

As you can see, the CSS code is not written in the same page, but is called with

That is fine for using in a webpage, where you have the CSS code in a folder on your server, but what I would like to know is:

How can I integrate the CSS code in that same page?

The reason I ask is: I am trying to use that code in a newsletter, which I send as a HTML email, so I don't really see how I can refer to that folder, or should I just attach it to the email?

    I tried the following:
    I changed to
but when I previewed the page that did not work.

So, is there a way of integrating the CSS code into the same page as the HTML, and if so, how do I do that?

If not, how can I make the correct style appear in my email?

All advice will be very much appreciated.

Unfortunately Email support for CSS is limited, Gmail is one of the worst offenders of poor support for CSS. If you would like to use CSS code in your site you need to use inline styles, I found this website: https://www.campaignmonitor.com/css/ which lists the supported features.

Incase you are unsure that would work like the following:

    <HTMLELEMENT style="CSSSELECTOR: CSSPROPERTY;>BLAH BLAH BLAH</HTMLELEMENT>

as I said that's how you would have to do it, and check out the link for the supported features, remember to have an external version of the newsletter that runs in the browser that people can click on if the email is not displaying correctly. This will allow any styling of course.

  8. Every one have choices,But i talk about what the Bible says ,and encourage us to know the truth. What happen if we believe not Jesus?John3:18He that believeth on him shall not condemned:but he that beleieveth not condemned is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the only begotten son of God.God condemned those who beleiev not Jesus the only way to heaven who pay sin. They are under God's wrath because not believing Jesus who came to save.

When you study history you gain an appreciation that you can never 'know' (taking it to mean Justified True Belief) anything. To say that you know something is really to say that you hold a justified belief that you think is true, but believing something is true does not make it true, therefore, you cannot literally know anything. Of course you may say that you know something that isn't even justified, just plausible but justification is a subjective term. When studying history therefore, you weigh up the various sources and interpretations and you take a side, the side with the most convincing sources and interpretations at the time (at least to the historians) is what is accepted but that doesn't mean it is true only likely. William Lane Craig in his masters degree wrote that he thought we can "know" things that happened in the past but I don't find this convincing, for one thing while History is objective we analyse it only from subjective sources, it to me seems impossible to know something objectively through a subjective means but I don't know what you think. To me it is like saying that you can know objectively that the rumour spreading around the playground, workplace etc is definitely true. You can't.

The further back you go as a general rule the harder it is to know anything, people were less literate, there are less sources and even less survive because of age. The bible has survived for so long because it was constantly rewritten as well as many other of the sources that did not make the cut, so to show that Jesus probably existed you have to verify the historicity of these sources. The trouble is that the bible isn't a diary, it isn't a biography it is an anthology of various works from the time and before. Not all of them are about Jesus, the old testament obviously isn't so really it's the new testament we have to go on as well as these other sources and I'm just going to say that they are far from proving Jesus really existed. To accept the Historicity simply of the Passages about Jesus mean having to accept supernatural claims which is not something I am going to do, and certainly from the point of view of trying to get as close to an objective view of history as possible am unable to do.

Secondly I don't think that Jesus didn't exist, I don't think he did either, I am "Jesusnostic" in that I simply have no idea if he did or didn't exist. I don't lean either way but the point is that even if he did exist that does not make anything supernatural or even natural written about him true, it does not prove God and it does not prove he is the son of God, all it would show is that a man called Jesus existed, possibly did and said some of the things written about him, who knows.

Thirdly I find it funny that the bible has to try and threaten me into believing in him, that to not believe in him is a crime, despite the fact that belief is not a choice, you either believe something or you don't, you can be persuaded to believe one side over another but you cannot be forced to believe something without losing something anyway, 1984 style.

Fourthly the argument "The Biblical Jesus existed because the bible tells me so" is circular and therefore, invalid.

  9. Now I love video games and gaming in General but there are certain things about certain games that annoy me and there is a pattern emerging that a large no. of games do the same thing that personally I hate, so I invite you to read my pet peeves and respond with what you think.A large no. of survival horrors that are out now, (Dead Space, Metro 33 etc) put you in the role of a character who does not have a face, I believe it is used to add atmosphere and help you absorb yourself into the character but it just doesn't work. Sometimes these characters don't have a name and only have a nickname, you may never see their face and in some cases they don't even speak so rather than make the game interesting you end up playing a character who is so utterly bland and inhuman that just seems to tag along with whatever is happening, never uttering a word, never having and opinion and is my idea of the most stupid protagonist ever, survival horror games never had this problem, look at resident evil or silent hill, each character had there own personality and there own charm and the game was still scary and thrilling, it doesn't improve anything to have a faceless character and I would much rather have someone with whom I know where I stand. Now there are other games that do this (RPG's often rightfully so) but most of the time, your character should have a personality, or at least have speech options that you can choose from.Missing a Co-op mode: Now I'm not saying that all games need or would be improved by a co-op mode, a lot of games are and should remain single player but there are so many games out there that are lacking a co-op mode where it would make so much sense and be so good to have one (not to mention easy to implement) that it really annoys me that they don't have it, I am a social gamer and I like to play games with friends, I would much rather play Halo for example with a friend than without one because playing with friends improves the experience. If you can implement a co-op mode easily without ruining the game then I think you should, look at CoD:MW2 there is barely a moment in that game where you aren't with at least one other squad member at least the lack of Co-op is a joke, and the replacement challenge mode is nothing to the real thing. DRM: Now this is perhaps the most annoying thing for a pc gamer that has come about, now I'm glad we've moved away from disc in the drive because frankly that is just inconvenient, and personally I think a one off online validation is fine but for heavens sake having to be online to use features is ridiculous, Starcraft II has no offline Skirmish (without a mod) and Assassins Creed 2 can only be played whilst online it's frankly a joke, and the worst part is that it's only going to get cracked anyway. What's the point, you aren't achieving anything but pissing off your customers and turning pirates into heroes, which is the opposite of what you want. If you want to lessen the effect of piracy on your games, become more respectable, people are less likely to take from those they respect and EA, Ubisoft, Activision etc you have not earned this respect. Also people if you're going to play an online game on a console, splash out a few pennies and buy a microphone, seriously, if you're not going to talk what's the point of playing most games online, people want to discuss tactics, meet new people and have a laugh whilst playing a game and it adds another element of fun to the game.So yeah they're all I can think of, if you have any comments let me know and if you have any things that piss you off about video games then let me know.

  10. Thanks Truefusion, yes I do intend on replacing the internal so I know it needs to be the same size and don't worry I know about IDE/SATA etc. Thanks about the Steam feature, I didn't know about that but I will see about copy pasting files from one to the other to see if I can.

  11. Hello Xisto I have some hard drive based questions which I hope you all can answer for me: let's start at number one.Number 1) I have a laptop it takes 2.5" hard drives, will any 2.5" hard drives do? At the moment for example I have a 250gb hard drive running at 5400rps. Could I replace it with a 2.5" 500gb hard drive running at 7200rps or are there certain limits that prevent this? I am assuming yes!I have about 200gb (including OS) files on my current hard drive (which with formatting has roughly 225gb space, some of those are very large files games that I have downloaded from steam; the EA online store and "other" inferred places. Downloading them at 300-500kB/s is a laborious process and I'd prefer to not have to do it again, the steam and ea download games do not have installation or iso files and I have long since deleted the isos for my other games, now I know I can simply move the files from "my programs" to the new "my programs" but will there be any issues caused by this such as issues with the registry and if so how do I solve these. Certain software also I would prefer not to download again, how can i transfer them.(Incidently I'm on vista and plan to reinstall the operating system from scratch. I know where the relevant downloads and drivers are located).

  12. Computers do not think it the way we do and they don't have an illogical or irrational side. Computer do what they are programmed to do, and therefore, are only as good as the humans who built and wrote the software; A computer is superior to humans in many ways. They can calculate maths that would take us hours in seconds but they cannot do things that we cannot do because someone has to always teach or tell the computer how to do it. Even "thinking computers" are limited to basing their decisions on the criteria that humans give them to base decisions on and a script that is completely random is all an impossibility (as far as I know). Computers do not suffer from the same weaknesses as well do (emotions and irrationality) the things that makes us human and I suppose our weaknesses are also our strengths as a species. The trouble computers have is that they are replication, they are like psychopaths that emulate emotions. They can only ever emulate thinking and then only to the degree that they were programmed.

  13. well, i wasn't that angry, but couldn't hold myself from replying you know :), in fact i like your topic, keep on posting such posts ;). anyway, welcome back simpleton, at least i will be sure that the few members who enter the forums daily increased by one now.

Thank you for sharing Web Designer.

Seriously though if you could I would LOVE it; especially if you started posting new topics, it would possibly improve this forum because people would then be able to actually reply to topics. When the mycent system returns hopefully things will resume as they used to but untill that point the forum is deader than a dead ghost.

  14. hi elmeento, welcome here in Xisto community, you can start by sign up in xisto with exactly the same email you signed up here, read the rules of the forums from "Xisto guidelines'", and start posting good quality posts or contribute in discussins to earn your mycents which allows you to get a free hosting or domain name. we have here a lot of categories, just choose that fits your interests and start posting and have fun.
unfortunately, the mycents system is not working now because of the forum upgrade. but don't worry, just continue posting because every post counts , there is a script counts everything now. so when it comes back you will get all your mycent, good luck.

I'm just going to clarify what Web_Designer said.

Sign up @ https://support.xisto.com/ with the Same email that you signed up here. As soon as the mycent program is up it will calculate your cents and then it will award you with the appropriate MyCents which can be spent on Hosting and Domains & any most other Xisto services that they provide. The forum has been recently updated and the script that calculates is being modified to version 4 which works with this new version and as well as being a much more fair system and other exciting things happening too!

Enjoy your stay here at the forum. If you have any questions feel free to address any of the members and they will be more than happy to help.

  15. yesterday i was browsing my blog and suddenly i`v noticed an interesting note, in September Apple will launch the new Iphone 4g in 16Gb and 32 Gb, the good news are that they have decided to lower the prices, the new iphone 4g 16Gb will be 199$ and the 32gb arround 250$ i think that`s a good news thinking about the old iphone and the prices, and by the way they have announced that the camera will be a 5Mega pixels, what can i say except wooow thats something new

That's actually pretty cheap if is true. The 5mb camera is nothing to write home about; at least not any more. But it makes sense. If they're charging $250 for the 32gb Ipod touch I don't see how it can make any sense to double that price for what is simply a Ipodtouch with phone capabilities. This however, will also mean better contracts in order that people don't just decide to go with the multitude of excellent pay as you go contracts which do things such as give you unlimited free texts and internet. I think that apple (who are notorious for over valuing their products have perhaps sensed the threat that andriod is having on their market share. When the no. of Android Apps being made exceeds the iphone apps it will be all over in the phone wars for apple should they charge the price they are charging.

  16. It only seems to happen when I am sitting in the chatroom; I have also found when I click "login" it logs me in without me typing anything despite being on the login screen, there are a lot of issues that need weeding out on the forum not least that we still don't have mycents. It's just going to be something you'll have to put up with for the next month or so.

  17. I like it I think it's really good, I don't think you should have paid for it I assumed you made it yourself, but I like it. I think it's a different take on the forum and I think some people will like it, Anwiii is just a fusspot ignore him. I think it's a job well done but it all depends on what opaque thinks at the end of the day!

  18. Well before I watched it I wasn't sure what to expect, I don't know you or your views at a particularly deep value yet from your posts so I was quietly interested. I wouldn't say I was surprised that I agreed with the man, but more that I agreed with him but admired the secularity of what he said. I thought it was a brilliant and enlightened video and as you say inspiring. What I will say is people exist that are beyond help, beyond "peace" as he would say it, medically scientifically beyond the reach so these individuals on which he puts a lot of importance won't 100% be able to achieve the peace and discover themselves at the actual level. I also agree with his implication that if heaven exists it will be within this life (metaphorically) and not in an afterlife which I do not believe in. I thought the video was very impressive and as the type of video I watch often (as a budding philosopher) I found it incredibly interesting and worthwhile. Thank you for posting this!

  19. I didn't just vote for him because he's English but since we won't be winning the world cup but we might take home SOTW. saying that I honestly thought his was the best, Bani's is a bit bland at least in comparison with the competition (in a nice constructive way) I nearly went for Tramposch's but I just think Rvalkass' is just a little better and I just preffered his to saint micheals as well

  20. <br>Wow... that much work and renaming just for a silly YouTube Video? Really, Who really wants to go through that much trouble? The <i>easiest </i>way to download some Youtube video would be to download a youtube downloading software, of course you say that they are a 'hassle' but that was before, now there are programs that run silently in the background (without taking much resources) and ask if you want to download them. Otherwise you can integrate a add-on on your browser (Chrome, Opera, Firefox, etc.) and it should bring up a download button next to the video, this is by far the easiest way to do this and not have any time wasted nor resources

But if you've already watched the video I see little point in downloading it again, and it takes barely any time at all and it's my proffered method because I don't like a lot of the youtube downloading software. I know there are lot's of great sites and software but my way is simply when you've watched a video and want it without waiting for it to download again and to be frank I with screencast tutorials etc tend to watch them once and if I think there useful I use my method to download them faster than redownloading them again. and Unlocker is a brilliant program which you should have anyway. It takes about 20seconds literally!
