I have FIFA 08 for my new pc and how wonderfull it is I can say!!! Heres my review of what I have found so far playing it for an ingame season and lots of two player games.Ok there is not much new in the game at all, the transfers are all up to date bar a few mistakes of late transferring players. The new things I have found are the "Be a Pro" mode in which you control one player of your choice in the gameplay. Its a bit odd at first but once you get used to it its really good fun, I picked a lowly 16 yr old striker for my game and got him a full time 4 year contract at Manchester United Other new things are more tricks in the gameplay, you can juggle the ball a bit better now when running fast at a defender, do faster step overs and fakes, and the one I really like involves a lot of joypad twiddling to get it but a 360 then a chip up then volley! You can choose which player you control better now and you can move the joypad in the direction of other players to select them faster now.You can take control of the goalkeeper at all times now, not just at pens, goals kicks, now you can rush the striker and dive at his feet, rush out and do a high jump, or do directional saves. Also in the corners you can run out and try to punch or catch the ball, once you have a good technique at this it gets unbeatable!Replays are handeled better and go back further and are much more realistic on a good graphics card. The AI in the cpu teams is much much better that before, takes a while to learn the new patterns they play in, also a cpu player when pressed hard by a fast attack will do really realistic moves to just kick the ball out for a throw or corner just incase you beat him.The AI keepers are a great leap forward and are a real pain to beat at times, some games i lash 20 shots at goal and get 16 saved ;( and one goal. One mad thing I noticed when beating Chelsea 2-1 and Chelsea got a corner at 90 mins, Petr Chech came running out of his goal and almost scored a diving header past my own keeper!! was soo shocking the first time it happened, the second time it happ I scored from an amazing two pass counter attack and ran the ball into the net at the other end with the opposing keeper not making it to the half way line The defending and tacking seems to have changed a bit also, now the sliding tackles seem to work better and you are not frightened to try them more often, in FIFA07 the ref used to yellow card or red card you to many times for doing this!!The conservative tackle and jostle works faster and smoother now, you can really chase players down and jostle them from the side and win the ball clean - add a clever turn and backheel then step over and the player is eating your dust as you plough on.One thing they changed I have not got used to or like is the automatic through ball and cross controls, you have to change it deep in the controls menu if you want to cross and through ball like in FIFA07, for some reason I cannot get on with this auto button, all the time the cross goes for a goal kick or miles away from where I want it to go, it seems wrong to me so I carry on with it the way it used to be.Another new thing is the ability to plan the training of the squad in the office calender, you can focus training on specific points of the team and specific points of the gameplay.I have got a few players to level up doing this but at the same time made the whole team so tired and had trouble playing the next two games cos the players were to fatuiged;(Still no way of spending the XP you gain on each game where you want to spend it though ;( I would like all my strikers to have really hard shots power and finishing, but its a lottery where the skills get spent.I have not tried it online yet so I cannot tell you how it plays online, but 07 didnt work to well imho online and I really dont think thats its going to change in 08.I have had a few LAN games and they were great fun esp when two of you control the strikers on a team against a AI side on pro level, you can really work clever little plays with each other and do tricks around the defenders and goal keeper. All in all not many visual changes to menu systems and the look and feel of the game, but under the hood the gameplay has changed quite a bit.But is it a totally different engine and game like a lot of us thought ? NO! Its 07 on steroids is what is, I dont know if its value for money, but hey my son and me will play this a lot for a while, then in the summer dream of FIFA 09 and wait and hope...Or we see what Pro Evolution Soccer looks like on its current realease.....the last version was pretty damm good, I loved it but my son hated it, so in our house FIFA won but as gameplay goes Pro Evo must win overall against FIFA07 but I dont think it beats FIFA08.

Vista And Xp - What's The Difference?!?
Markymark2 replied to brooks630's topic in Websites and Web Designing
Being a bit of an old school kind of guy I only upgraded to XP about 6 months when I was forced to by a new mixing desk that was XP only ;( After many attempts to get it running in my favoured Windows OS Win2k I got sick of staring at Blue screens of death so I got round to installing XP. I had tried XP before when it was released and after a week of it I reverted back to Win2k because I found XP then to be "not ready" and fit to use as my main Ps because before SP1 for instance there were many problems with drivers and some bits of my audio kit would not work at all. I am just about pretty happy with XP these days, after SP2 and lots of updates I have finally got a rock solid stable as hell XP build which I have Ghosted and I re image the build every few months with the latest updates and new bits of software I have installed since the previous image. This has turned out good because XP with Sp2 and all of the programs I use on a daily basis ( no games) including Adobe Cs3, when ghosted will just about fit on a DVD, with games its 3 DVDS ;(( but Ghost lets you span the image over many disks these days ) So Vista comes out, again I tried a copy of it for a demo and this was a beta rc1 copy not the full blown Vista, I really did not like it at all!! I found it very slow bloated and just plain annoying with all these pop ups that try to help you with everything you click on ;( I just got plain sick of telling Vista it was ok to run this or do that when I tried to open files. It never seems to remember its asked you before and bombards you with them ;( also lots of stuff didn’t have drivers or flunked out unless you rebooted with the USB devices attached then it would find them all again ;( A few weeks ago I finally upgraded my main pc to a shiny new AMD X2 5600 64 bit CPU with 2 gig of DDR2 and a whopping great NVIDIA 8500 GTS with 512 MB RAM After a couple of days I got bored of the lightening speed in XP I get and wanted to see if it could go faster on a native 64bit OS. So once again I installed Vista to see what it could do, GRR!!! Yet again I am in driver hell!! Yet again I am being nagged to death by pop ups and hassle screens whenever I do something. I still love the interface and I really love directx 10, I have got a few brand new games and they look absolutely amazing in Vista!! The textures, the shadows the fill rates are just unbelievable!! The recent games we play like MotoGP 07 look so lifelike and really suck you in!! Bioshock is just stunning in directx10!! It’s made a totally immersive game in to virtual reality!! The game is amazing and scares the crap out of my when im playing late at night with the headphones on!! Another problem I face is the HD playback from Vista, this Christmas we are buying a new 1080HD TV and of course want to watch as much as we can at 1080 resolution. I hear that Vista has nasty DRM like software that kicks in when you try to play "un licensed" material and forces the HD screen down to a really low resolution or just plain refuses to play it. XP seems to be able to do this no problem but its really tasking the CPU when I test it out ;( I think I might be rebuilding again this weekend and make Vista dual boot XP so that I can maybe just use Vista when I play games, I really am used to XP for working on and multimedia but I would love the added enhancements that directx10 gives me in the games I play. So like always with moving between one release of windows and the next, its painful and it will cost a lot of time, you will find added benefits but also you will lose things you cannot do without ;( They never seem to get it right do they? -
Well I think I tunes and the ability to buy and listen to tunes on your I phone was one of the big sales points from Apple, it didnt work, so yes they did break promises and yes sure I own a pocket pc for years already and im soo happy with it and the freedom to pick and choose from thousands of applications not the ones Apple make solely and try to lock you in to.Also I think the simunlocking issue is a lot more prevelant in Europe where I am not in the US of A where im guessing you guys come from.
-
Well well Apple are up to dirty tricks once again!!! hey wait a sec aren’t these the same guys who cry like babies whenever another company such as Microsoft does something they feel is "underhand"What they have done this time is to make it so that anyone who has "unlocked" their simcard in the Iphone to be able to use it on non AT&T or in the UK O2 networks, cannot install any updates for the phone ever or it will get junked and not be able to be repeaired by Apple or their stores.Apple have locked their customers in to ridiculous deals with the only one mobile company per territory and I also believe that you have to have a new contact to be able to have the phone in the first place.UnSimlocking is such a common thing to do with virtually any mobile phone but Apple have actually junked the phones with any modification."Apple has warned that anyone attempting to unlock their iPhone to use with an unauthorized mobile network could find their phones irreparably damaged. The company said that modified mobiles would become "permanently inoperable" once Apple updates were installed"So lets think about this update that Apple are forcing on people - what does it contain? oh it contains software that you were lied to about in the first place!! software that you thought was installed already - stuff you saw on the "groovy" demos and adverts you saw for this phone. The truth is-it was never there Apple are trying to cover their lies by releasing this patch to install I tunes properly and tidy up other software that doesn’t work as "claimed"So if you have unlocked your phone you now will not have access to this "working" software and if you do the update your phone will turn it into the most expensive paperweight there is;)Well I warned you as it was launched on the world that this like most Apple products would be a steaming pile of horseshit Apple should be ashamed of themselves doing this and also for doing exactly what they have been crying about for years about Microsoft, locking people in to crappy hardware and software....
-
Wow what a steaming pile of complete garbage! Anyone else getting totally fed up with Apple reinventing the wheel and claiming its theirs every few months? I know I am!!Im not even going to do the research this time-I just know theres a better and cheaper alternative on the market for a long time already.

Steampunk Keyboard Mod Reworked by myself
Markymark2 replied to Herbert1405241469's topic in Hardware Workshop
Wow!1 goodluck with this!! I am a big fan of Steampunk tech, I posted on here last year sometime about a SteamPunk laptop I am just crazy about! http://ironwork.jp/monkey_farm/computer/pc2.html A few years ago I made a 1960s old mono audio mixer with all needle level meters and cool old buttons and dials on it into a fully programmable midi translated control device and mixer, this thing used to run a whole rack of equipment it was great...untill one night after a gig it got dropped down a set of stairs and smashed to bits ;((( i could only save parts of the midi boards, the facia of the mixer was battered beyond repair;(( If I had the time I would love to get involved in modding again and make some really nice SteamPunk flavoured stuff;) We got a new HD LCD screen a few weeks ago...im sick of looking at its shiney new facia already I would love to Punk it up! -

Google Launches Online Presentation App
Markymark2 replied to miCRoSCoPiC^eaRthLinG's topic in Websites and Web Designing
Finally Google get it on the market;) been waiting on this release for some time.I really like the way google are going around things, I think their ultimate idea is to have a full on google operating system with all these little apps they have been making for some years now all under the bonnet of the OS.You could say its the same as microsoft if they pull this idea off but I trust google far much than I will ever trust microsoft!I also think that google will try to make this the biggest deployment of "leased" software yet, I think they will lease you the OS and the apps on a subscription basis like a mobile phone contract.Maybe they will roll out version one for free then when it moves to version two and becomes more powerfull then they will start the subscription fees. For me personally I doubt I would ever use such an OS because I am switching between platforms all the time anyway, but for the average user or someone who is just buying a pc it could be a very tempting thing to do instead of buying Vista.Maybe google could tie up a big manufacturer like Dell or ASUS to sell their pcs loaded with the google OS, this would really make people think and realise there is an alternative to Winblows. -
Wow that Space monger was a real find !!! thanks for that!I really love the visual way it displays your folders and you can really zoom down on the structures and files beneath them.I like Graffitti use Photoshop all day and yes I found 8gig of temp space used up by Adobe. Also found a movie that I must have dropped in the wrogn folder some time ago.A very usefull tool indeed!!

Joost.com And Bitme.org Invites Kindly Requested
Markymark2 replied to dserban's topic in Websites and Web Designing
Ok I just logged into the Joost homepage but you cannot send invites from there;(You have to do it inside the software, the software that I removed after 30 mins playing with it ;((I dont want to install it again because I had huge problems last time I did ;(((Joost overwrites part of the BBC I player software and you have to remove that and then install Joost then the I player again.Best idea is to do what I did to sign up, you can leave your email etc on their page and they will contact you in a week orso to become a member. But like I said before, its really not worth the time and stress getting an account, downloading and configuring the software only to find a bunch of free to air programmes and channels you would never watch if they came on your "normal" TV. -
Joost.com And Bitme.org Invites Kindly Requested
Markymark2 replied to dserban's topic in Websites and Web Designing
I think I can invite people on Joost, but to be honest I REALLY dont know why anyone would bother to use it!!Its great in concept, presented well but severly lacking in any good content. If you want to watch all the crappy channels that come free on most cable of sat deals, the chans they cant charge for because the content is worthless then feel free to goto Joost!.IT would be good if something like this took off and became popular but if the content is crap then it wont last long! -
Games That Warp Your Sense Of Reality After Long Periods Of Play
Markymark2 replied to dserban's topic in Computer Gaming
I would have to add Counter Strike to my list of games that alter my state.Sometimes after a long period of play I start to look around when I am outside I start to think about waht places in the city would make a good CS map.I can constantly look at the top of building or in high up windows just to see if there is a sniper up there. Also watchign films that have gunshots in them, soo many times I hear a desert eagle sound but see a crappy gun in the hands of the actor. The sound quality of CS is amazing and they seem to use the same sound effects library that film producers use. -

Moderators.... Does astahost need more?
Markymark2 replied to .:Brian:.'s topic in Web Hosting Support
Well if the moda pruned more spam topics there wouldnt much left at the moment.I have been around for over a year and I have noticed the forums go downhill since then.At the moment I am even having a hard time staying hosted becuase of the lack of good posts to get involved in, if I make a new post just the same old faces reply or read it.The new members that have come here recently seem to post the bare minimum all the time to jsut about stay in positive for credits. For me all the old faces are gone and there really doesnt seem to much new blood that is interested past getting the required credits to stay hosted.I dont know if its becuase of the summer holidays taking effect but there hasnt been many hosting request these days also.IF you look at turbos hosting script it shows about 35 sites active on here.It used to be hundreds, now were down to about 50 people.Myself I will probably switch my account to paid hosting at Xisto - Web Hosting in the next month orso, I am relying on my website here to bring me work, which it does ) and I should really payback the guys at Xisto and go paid hosting with them. -

I think this fight is silly! its VHS V BETA all over agian 25 years later...You would had though Sony would have learned!! they took a beating last time and lots millions on the superior BETA technology.I think that this fight will go on for a few more years yet, but whats funny is by the time we get a winner and get used to its format - there will be a NEW product out there!!I am not buying any new player for a few years till theres an outright winner, I think most people are doing this also.In a way by not buying a player we are also fueling the fight because the market the two formats are trying to win is very small at the moment and not rising in numbers for instance like when DVD came out.I think it will be another 5 years before these players become natural in every home. -
Odd, I was working away all day with the ftp with no problems at all, I have just logged in and out a coupe of times and its fine here for me.I would try using a "proper" ftp client like Bulletproof or Cute FTP, this was you have more control over the conection and you have more options to try different ways of connecting.I would suggest switching between active and passive mode on the ftp connection, something I dont know how to do in Explorer because I always use Bulletproof for everything. Is anyone else having problems with FTP atm?

Installing with Fantastico is great for a first time trail of a package, to get a look and feel of the app and see if its for you. Then when familiar with the app then go and download the latest version and install it manually, mainly Fantastico apps are out of date versions by a level or three depending on the webhost and how often they update the packages. Here at Asta we do have Fantastico, its very out of date, and its broken and has been for months, so I wouldnt bother with it cos it will cause you pain and time loss.
