why are you trying to connect to the default admin share?Tip..if you need to share out the drive like that...make a NEW share;)Rememeber to give yourself FULL ACCESS to that share. If your connected and you get the login screen to the share..my guess the settings are all ok...Like Yordan discussed above..the next step would be to get a proxy running if the laptop needs to get on the internet at the same time as the desktop.I suggest using Proxy + its one of the best "free" ones out there.Good Luck

Blasts Destroys House
Markymark2 replied to xboxrulz1405241485's topic in Websites and Web Designing
It says that new people had moved into the house a few weeks earlier..my bet is they moved a cooker or a gas fire and it got damaged in the move, they connected it up and its been leaking small amounts of gas for days and days..finally something ignited it and BOOM! Freaky gas explosions happen a lot in the UK for some reason..when I was growing I rememebr a house getting totalled like this. Check this out from BBC news.. BBC news -
Sounds good..I esp like the 256 bit encryption option;))More people should use encryption imho not just to stay safe but to waste the time of the USA govt depts )

I get an anooying rattle every now and again from my big tower its normally dust and cat hair built up on the fans..One thing I do to stop a build up of dust is too get my vacuum cleaner tuen the PC off!!! take out the power cord..start the pc so it drains any power left in the capacitors in the PSU.I literally hoover the PSU out-make the fans spin round and use a brush for cleaning the floor to dislodge the dust a bit..Also I hoover my CPU and graphics card fans out and make sure that theres no loose dust and fluff lying around the case. This normally solves the problem for a few months.Good Luck!!

Your right Apple products are over priced...I would look for a cheaper better alternative..you just know theres a better one out there for less money I know I do... Contrary to thier hype Apple didnt invent the mp3 player A Much Better Alternative to Apples Ipod More bang for your buck wins with me everytime! and look at how many products you can choose from-in soo many colours too...gotta love that top of the range Zen player..kicks the Ipods *bottom*!

My best advice on this..Dump NERO !!Never liked this program its SOO bloated!!Always my users are having problems with this crappy product ;(I use Roxio Winon CD - a copy I got bundled 7 years ago with a Cd burner..when I got a DVD burner 2 years ago all I had to do was download a 400k file to make it work on DVD too..I make LOTS of audio CDs with it..Only burner on the market I have used that allows me edit a .wav or an mp3 inside the burner..I.E. if I got carried away and carried on mixing after 80 mins I can chop the end off..fade it out..put an effect on it..all within the burning window..For "other" files such as ISO etc I use Alcohol 100%I have tried Nero myself but hey compared to Winoncd its too slow..too bloated..too many stupid disc errors for no reason...it used to be hard to burn right to the very end of a CD too..Winonccd allows you to do this.

Ok one thing I can see right away is that is a problem with your network card..DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_EQUAL_OR_LESS in NDIS.sys NDIS.sys is an MS network driver..Sounds to me like you need to find exactly what Network Card there is in there and get the proper drivers from the makers website..Does this crash when using torrents or limewre? My bet is that it only crashes when you use different protocols such as UDP.Hope its a quick and easy fix by getting these new drivers..Good Luck!!

This makes me think of the guy who made a car that could run on water..he invented it in the 70s and why dont we use it? because he sold the patent to the Saudi Prince...Remember they have soo much money and soo much power.I think it would be hard for a company especially a small company to come to market with something if and when its proved to work because the OPEC oil barons would buy it disrupt its sales etc..I remeber seeing about 8 years ago another thing like this..molecular steam engines that you could fit 20 on a grain of rice..again it was claimed that the power output was greater than the input...never heard about that coming to market...Ive heard about great magnets being able to give out more power than put in also...again years pass and nothing changes...The only thing I see being close to making things better is smaller more powerfull batteries using a new compound of chemicals-these batteries are about the size of a SD card and can power a laptop for 12 hours..Make these bigger make the drain on the battery less...then we got battery powered cars that dont have to be charged up soo much..I would love to think that these inventions will change the planet but hey I am too much of a cynic to think it will-I guess first we have to stop shooting each other over the oil!! and stupid religions. -
Ok I run a smartphone/pocket pc whatever you want to call it. I have a Qtek 9090 with the same Windows Os on it even tho it was built with the old one So I have found two bits of software that should help you out..one is Jeyo Mobile companion. Jeyo Homepage this is what your looking I think...this allows you to back just your phone book-SMS-MMS and restore them of course. I found this because like you I didnt want to use Outlook to control my contacts. Jeyo has some good features like being able to send a recieve SMS on screen when the Phone is in its cradle-I found this very handy becasue my phone lives next to my monitor when I am at home. Also this ROCKS and its from Microsoft!~! yes im staggered too!! MS Remote Control Basically when setup it simulates your phones screen on the monitor screen..instead of using the stylus you can use your mouse!! again REALLY handy if your phones in the cradle a lot! Last but not least is Sprite backup. This is a god send to any users of the old Windows mobile edition because on my phone if the battery goes out I lose everything thats not in My Storage or on my SD card ;(( But Sprite has cool features like if your battery gets to 20% it auto backups up the whole phone..all programs..and the registry..and dumps it to the SD card )) I let Sprite do its stuff 2 times a week in the background to make sure I never lose anything.. Sprite Homepage Wow if I go look at the new version It now has extra features including a Clone function like my favourite app Ghost.. so that you could rebuild many phones with the same image. Also look out for SBP SBP Pocket Plus This is a great app for changing the today screen and adding shortcuts to it..zip support extra functons for explorer. Hope this helps..its taken me a long time to get all these great bits of software together - ive tried soo many apps..to try to make things easier on the smartphones. Good Luck!!

I’m with you there ...been using Opera for years (about6) because I used to be on dial up and Opera has a feature at one click to disable all images on the screen and just display the text...perfect for reading the news before you goto work Its mad me laugh SOO much at all these converts to Firefox..they are going around like its some new religion!! WTF !! Opera users have had ALL the features Firefox boasts about for hmm let me see..3 years now!!! Opera is constantly innovating and constantly leading the rest in terms of compatability..Ever heard of the Acid test? this tests your browsers compatability against the web standards.. Question Can you click on this link The Acid Test and see a Smiley face and Hello World!? only Opera 9 users can )) No other browser on the market including Firefox and Ie7 FAIL this compatability test! I can bang on about all the extra features that Firefox just doesnt have..I can bang on about IE being buggy.. I can bang on about having Opera in windows Linux and on my phone..but I wont;) Download Opera...Wise up!!! THE BROWSER FOR THE INTERNET!! "The first step to healing is admitting you have a browser problem"

I had tried Linux at home and learned a lot on some early Distros of RedHat but it was at work where the big changes happened to me!I moved to Linux when I was working at an ISP-I had to design a network for our NOC-Network Operations Centre that was a windows and Linux environment. The whole network was thin client based with 5 massive Compaq Citrix servers hosting every single app in the company. We had 250 users and about 5 real pcs..the rest were thin client devices. We had two flavours of thin clients Windows Nt4 and a Linux version called NeoLinux which like the NT4 Os was burnt on to Flash chips and booted real fast into the Citrix environment. It was cool for the NOC operators cos they had 4 flat panel each one kb one mouse and switches to switch from 2 windows terminals and 2 Linux terminals..this meant they could could look at soo many diag tools on both platforms. It took a long time to get Citrix to talk to Linux and set Samba and other servers but once it was was running it literally had minimal problems.I had a couple of Solaris servers under my desk and an old Slack ware distro on a dual boot on my pc so that I could administer Citrix in Windows and Linux in Linux..After a while I found I would use the Windows Partition less and less and then finally one day rebuilt my pc only with Linux ( a copy of SUSE) and also changed my laptop over...I havnt looked back since..sure I still have Windows 2000 (I will NOT use XP ever!!!!!) on a pc at home that me and my son play games on ..every other pc in the house is a Linux powered pc now;)Next to change is my phone..I have a very nice pocket pc that runs on Windows for mobile version 5 ...ive been reading and researching a Linux distro that could be flashed over to my phone...as soon as the service contract runs out on it then I will try to change that over to it too LOL I hope it survives!! ive heard some nasty tales on a few forums!!I'm all for a LINUX only world just wish games manufacturers would see the light too!!Imagine a bootable cd with a REALLY light OS on it just to play the game that the cd comes with...this HAS to be a good idea right? more resources for the game to use?Wake up people!!

Happy Birthday Linux ! Linux is 15.
Markymark2 replied to sparx's topic in Websites and Web Designing
Great to see Linux kicking it 15 yrs later!Lets hope Vista dies on its *bottom* like I think it will and get more people over to Linux when 64bit pcs become more common and people lose faith in the MS OS.Also any new business would be stupid these days to build thier systems on a MS platform or use MS products on the users desktops. If more business that switch over it will then bring many home users to the party too because of using it at work all day long and getting used to it.Lets hope were all here in 5 yrs time to see Linux rise to be the KING of the OS. -

I say No! sorry but i am a habitual Apple hater!! My phone is a better and bigger screen than this!! and it doesnt cost as much and guess what? its a phone too!!! and can do wifi etc...dont be fooled by good advertising and word of mouth from people that know nothing (this is how apple win market share) about tech ..just that it looks good..style over content loses in this house I am afraid -
SO Is this how Bushes party is going to rig another election? Is this how we will have ARNIE as president of the world!!Dont laugh ..its going to happen and you know it!

I must say AVG...the one the only for me!!Lol I contract work a lot and have AVG on my laptop..on the first day at one job I was on I met a really ignorant and stupid IT manager who wouldnt let me connect to "HIS" network unless I installed Norton and did a full sweep of my system with it..I ofc assured him my laptop had all genuine software on it and it was fully protected and scanned the day before and it was fine..we kinda had a big fight about it..he phoned his boss..I phoned mine..I won first thing I do is map some drives to "HIS" server so that I can do my job ( I was there to make a trouble ticket system for "HIS" team that "HE" couldnt get to work hence why I was there;)So I connect to "HIS" server and mark a folder to copy to my D drive so I can install the software..as it starts copy AVG pops up and starts to scan the network share ive connected too....cut a long story short I found 19 virus on "HIS" server with a FREE virus killer AVG!!! mainly older word macro virusses sitting in users home areas.Norton just went right over them!! one was really nasty that could rename jpeg files and this was a design company so it could have done a lot of damage if they executed it;(God knows how much a month this muppet was paying to Norton...I actually mentioned it to his bosses in my final report that it took me half a day to clear up the virus issues the company had because I was worried about "MY" laptop )))Ever since I sing the praises of AVG as much as I can..I install it on any pc i work on and make freinds and family use it also..

Well I use Geexbox on older pcs so that you can cut the overhead down on resources that the OS uses.Better to have an OS tuned to the job and you just reboot and go into Geexbox when you want to watch a movie or some TV.In our house the p2 500 runs the TV - plays music - plays DVDs and can connect to other pcs to stream movies etc from there too. This pc was literally thrown out on the street and all I have done is add a 5 yr old Tv tuner card that i got for 10 Euro.As you can see its a VERY cheap entertainment system!!
