  1. You need something like a Windows Media Player plug-in. It is used on music.aol.com and many other web sites. It's like a small WMP that is in the layout of your page and you can play and stop music by using it. Quite simple.
  2. More than a day has passed and my support request hasn't been answered yet
  3. You cannot "program" web pages. Programming is creating a sequence of commands that get executed one after the other. When making a web page, the HTML code doesn't get executed that way, it is only used to show the graphical web page. However, you can CREATE a web page. For that, start of with HTML, and when you master it go to php and databases, since all major websites use that.
  4. Yeah, I watched that movie some time ago and was annoyed because of the way Microsoft wants to make MSN search more popular. Anyhow, isn't it much better to type https://www.google.de/?gfe_rd=cr&ei=BwkjVKfAD8uH8QfckIGgCQ&gws_rd=ssl instead of search.msn.com? Also, Google is better because it is a comany mostly focusing on searching, whereas MSN has so many other things. Till yesterday I didn't even know how MSN Search looks. Why? Because it is not so popular and is hard to find. People would expect http://www.msn.com/de-de?rd=1&ucc=DE&dcc=DE&opt=0 for MSN Search because https://www.google.de/?gfe_rd=cr&ei=BwkjVKfAD8uH8QfckIGgCQ&gws_rd=ssl is for Google Search
  5. Put an announcement at the top of the first page That way I'm sure you'll find someone interested in volunteering. Say that you need people who will be able too visit the web site at least twice a week, the job is not payed, etc. Someone will show up eventually.
  6. If you are really new to programming, I advise you to start with some basic programming languages, for example QBasic. It is quite simple, but can be used for some really neat programmes. The good thing about it is that you learn the basics of programming while learning a new language. When I started programming, I began with QBasic, than practiced it for about half a year and then switch to Pascal (which I had to because of school) and C# (because I wanted to). Other friends of mine who have never programmed before had a lot of problems understanding the way programmes work. I had the advantage because I learned a language that tought me the basics. Now, with those basics I have no problem learning more complicated languages (such as C#), because I know my way around. So, don't start with something difficult right away, you're better off with QBasic, trust me. After that, switch to C#, in my opinion one of the most powerful languages (currently). The future of Windows applications is within it, and you know how Microsoft programmers have really good salaries If you listen to my advice and start with QBasic, this is a good tutorial: QBASIC Programming for Kids Don't worry, even though it says "for kids", any starter can use it. Good luck!

    Compiling Help

I tried with MinGW, but my knoweldge is extremely small. I couldn't even start it! I've tried starting all the executables and all I got was a glimpse at a DOS window - it just does something and closes. That's why I need someone else to do it ~edit~ Forget it, a friend who uses Linux did it. And you know what - it's working! Finally a way to write formulae in IPB 2.0.0 Here's how it looks: http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/=(x-y)(x+y)
  8. Are you the only one adding content to your web site? If you are, I advise you to find someone else interested in those things and who wants to help you. Even I with a little web site have two "partners"

    Compiling Help

OK, so I am a complete newbie when it comes to compiling stuff, especially since I use Windows XP. I downloaded Mimitex, which is a script that creates mathematical equasions online. Something like Latex, except it doesn't need server-side scripts. The package I downloaded contains a few files and a readme file. As far as I understood it, it is necessary to compile to files with a command in UNIX shall - maybe I am wrong. Since I wasn't able to do it, it would be really nice if somebody did it instead of me Here are all the files: http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ If somebody makes it, please upload the outputted *.cgi file. There is a short explanation what should be compiled. Note: There are three options when compiling, I need the first one. Thanks
  10. Haha, good one I wouldn't expect something like that from a big company. But when you look at it, Microsoft Excel is a virus! It's used for a plan to rule the whole world
  11. It is good, but not as customizable as other, also free, forum software. Of course, I'm talking about SMF. It's looks nicer, it's more spread, has a lot of options, it's free and it's one of the safest BBSes available. What more could you ask?
  12. I believe that Google won't change its way of ranking web sites. At least not in some big way. If you aren't able to find what you are looking for, then you should change the way you are searching. For example, my friend complained about searching something on Google for half an hour and not finding it in the end. Then I tried finding it and did it in about 5 minutes. So you see, it's al about choosing the right words to search for.As for examining the content of the page more, we all know why it is not good. Google might be smart, but I think it's not smart enough to recognize false keywords. When I say false keywords I mean words at the bottom of the page, the same colour as the background, that are there because it helps increase the rank at some search engine. That's why Google isn't paying much attention to it.On the other hand, the link counting is perfect, since it is not really possible that a single person own hundreds of good web sites that would link to his other site
  13. I've tried doing that When G-Man told me to decide I just turned on the God Mode and prepared the yellow weapon at number four (can't remember the name) and killed a few aliens when I got teleported. However, my screen fade to black anyway I love it too, only because it is so mystic and tells you "Expect the next part!"
  14. Is there any additional information on where it is going to "strike"? Or is it going to be the whole planet? Personally, I don't think anything like that will happen. Those are just predictions that aren't certain. And why did you say "POWERDOWN ( no-lights in our home)"? Wouldn't it be logical that all power dissapeared, not only lights in pur homes?
  15. I was checking something in Xisto ControlPanel yestardey and bumped in into something interesting. It seems that you can install SMF thorugh your CPanel. Haven't tried this before, but I think that would make forum installing much easier. After all, SMF is the most secure free forum software!
  16. You sooooooooo missed the forum for this.. And there are many topic concerning this, so I guess this will be deleted or moved Nevertheless, I so agree with you. All I use hotmail for is MSN messenger. And registering at web sites with spammy nature
  17. I think the next one won't be anything revolutionary. If it were, we would have to wait at least 5 more years for it to be released. But it's not good for them to have that big pause. They would lose giant amounts of money that way.Maybe we could expect something more efficient next time. It could be useful if the next one was more ergonomic (that's the word, right?) and with mroe functions. AFAIK, the latest iPod's don't have radio and/or voice recording feature (I'm not sure). That's a BIIIG minus. They need to have at least this:- mp3,wma,wav and more formats support- voice recording- FM tuner- lost of side functionsBesides this, the next iPod generation would be nice to have video playback option, as something like that is expected.
  18. Half-Life 2 outstanding? I would lie if I said it wasn't. Even though many people say that nubmer one is much, I don't agree. It si a bit better, since it started a revolution, but HL2 has continued the revolution. From the beginning of the game you can feel the good old half-life spirit. The second part has everything needed to maintain the quality of the game. The graphics are there just to improve the experience (of course, I'm talking about the PC version). The game itself isn't more complicated than it should be. They've managed to keep the "a lot of killing" part, while maintaining a rather good story.Introducing a few new weapons was a really great move, especially the gravity gun. But then again, the didn't exagurate. I just love to play with it What's more, the story is perfectly fitting into the old one, though I think G-Man should appear more. He was the one that made you play the first part until your eyes pop out. Nevertheless, the new one keeps you attention too.The end? Well.. It's different.. In the first part there was a reason for an end like that, whereas in the second it's a bit sudden.. I don't know.. Well, at least there is more space for the third part, right?
  19. Yes, you could use another free forum software that is also used by https://www.proboards.com/. It is not as good as the ones before, but is free and quite secure. And phpBB should be avoided as much as it can.
  20. Just kidding, they do have money But someone could that they don't. Here's why.The incident happened in Brazil. The Google owners were having some business meeting with the local Google group, but they were also relaxing on the sandy beaches. But something went wrong when they went to a restaurant. The restaurant was for rather rich people, since it was quite expensive. After finishing the dinner, the Google owners wanted to pay, but their credit cars got rejected! It seemed that the bill was bigger than the credit card limit!Fortunately, they had a few more credit cards in their pockets, so they were able to pay in the end.Oh, what problems.. I wouldn't know what to do if I had "a few" credit cards in my pocket..
  21. People will never be able to agree on how did we become what we are now. There is always someone whose opinion is different. I think there is no such thing as God, but I don't insult people who do. It is in fact good to have something to believe in, someone you can blame for everything But I prefer saying that the Big Bang wazs the beginning of everything and that there weren't any forbidden apples etc.
  22. I'm not sure if it is possible to upload your own templates at free forum hosts. And it's not easy to make, too.
  23. If you drew all that by yourself, congrats! On the other hand, if you didn't, congrats again :oWhat I like about the first one is the way you fit in the text, which is really nice. But it isn't perfect, because the upper word blurs the hair of the right character when going behind it. But I guess that's not a big problem. The second one is the best, the pic is really great and so are the colours. And the third.. Well, it might be a bit too simple (compared to the other two) and a bit bigger. There are still a lot of dial-uppers that are probably having trouble when loading this page
  24. For all of you interested in these kind of stuff, you might consider checking DeviantArt for some great tutorials. One of the most popular tutorials is "The Dark Book of Photoshop". It has five or six short tutorials on how to create dark art. Really nice work. It can be found here: http://subcity.deviantart.com/art/Dark-Book-Of-Photoshop-24163036
  25. Well, it's not really god to create a sign up page, because they probably wouldn't be able to handle it. They might have a lot of space, but it would be a big boom if they allowed registrations. They would probably get overloaded.
