Questions About Setting Up An Internet Server
pyost replied to marretas's topic in Computer Networks
I am no expert, but here is how I see it. If it's an internet server, you will have a lot of people accessing it from all over the globe (let's just say they will). For that, you need a high speed internet link and a static IP address. After you get that, you need to install the server itself. IMO, the best server is Apache run on Linux/Unix, because of the safety. After that, it's all child's play - GoogleIt!If I was wrong in any way, please correct me, so I don't make the same mistake again. -
Well, you have to be really fast when it comes to cleaning the keyboard. But we can also say I had a lot of luck @techocianIf you want to buy a laptop-like keyboard, I strongly reccomend this one (Genius SlimStar). Besides it's endurance, it has a great feeling and the buttons aren't like on a laptop. There you don't have a numpad and it's all cluttered. This one is like a normal keyboard, but thin. Great choice

I believe that it's the same as with *.jpg and *.jpeg. There are probably many examples, but I realy can't explain why it's like that. However, if you have an index.htm and index.html on you web server, one of them will have the advantage.

Interesting problem we've got here. Right now I am trying to find a mistake, but here's some useful info:If you want to display a number like this as a fraction, this is approx. how you do it. Depending on the number of digits that are repeating, (1,2,3) you divide the repeating number by the according number of nine's.So, for 0.43434343... you get 43/99. For 0.55... it's 5/9. But this obviously can't be done fore 9, and I will find the mistake!

Believe it or not, the keyboard is working!!! It seems that everything is dry now (and sticky) and all the keys work properly. I do have problems with certain keys, which have to be hit harder in order not to get stuck, but I assume they will start working normally sooner or later. So, as you can see, Genius keyboards ARE good

If you have ever thought of spilling something over your keyboard in order to see what will happen, don't - I'll tell you. I was enjoying a regular afternoon and drinking some sweet lemonade. Accidentally I hit the glass and it spilled over my Genius SlimStar keyboard (a really great model). I didn't wait at all - I cleaned it quickly, opened it, dryed it etc. I pluged it back in, and it was working - though it was a bit sticky (because of the sugar). But that wasn't all. After 15 minutes something happened to the circuits inside the keyboard and all of a sudden I was getting 'qa' when pressing only 'a' I opened the keyboard, cleaned it again and again, left it to dry (again), and now I am hoping for a miracle. Here's how it looks: Until it starts working again, I'll have to use a Cherry keyboard that is 10 years old - they aren't manufactured anymore.

I recommend you to visit https://forum.joomla.org/ and search for the solution. I'm sure somebody has already thought of that.

Gmail Notifier Keeps Asking Me Password Upon Each Reboot
pyost replied to crs_cwiz1405241504's topic in Search Engines
I think you've all misundestood him His problem is that the program itself asks the password all the time, am I right? If that is the problem, I'd advise you to install Google Talk instead of GMail Notifier. It is really a combination of GMail notifier and a messenger. It is really practical since it is small and it's good with remembering passwords. -
This is such a bad move. Because, as much as we are advance, there are so many people that don't (or can't) have the Internet. So what will they do? They will probably have to by pirated copies, which will surely have everything. It's quite hard to believe that the Russians won't be able to make a Windows Vista copy with everything available in the real version.

I've just noticed this. I must say you are mistaken, since IPB is not free. It was before, but now you have to pay for it. Nevertheless, there can still be found IPB versions that were once free, but they are illegal to download and use. However, if you aquired an IPB version when it was free, you have all rights to use it. The last one that was free was 2.0.0, but it could be found only for a short period, and it has "Trial" at the bottom (even though it is fully functional).

I have installed WordPress by using fantastico, and it is fantastic and all. But I have a few problems that I don't know how to solve, because of my PHP knowledge (which is extremelly small). Those of you who have used WP probably know that it (by default) display a particular number of posts, with the text, if you open a certain category. That can be quite annoying, so I need a hack. I would like my blog to display titles only, along with links to those posts. That itself is not a problem, but I don't know how to list the titles. Here's exactly what I want. When somebody goes to a category or an archive from my menu, he should get a list of 50 links, and a 'Next Page' link at the bottom, if there are more than 50 posts. What is the syntax I should use? As far as I have found out, it should be something like this: if is_archive (or is_category) <-- to check where it ishere goes something, I don't know what<a href="<?php the_permalink() ?>" rel="bookmark"><?php the_title(); ?></a> <--- this is the linkagain, something is here I would really appreciate if somebody wrote a piece of code for me. I'll mess with the link, I just need a code that displays 50 titles per page. Thanks in advance

My Windows Shuts Down By Itself After Sometime
pyost replied to marretas's topic in Websites and Web Designing
Does it just shutdown, or is there a countdown maybe? Probably is a virus, so try AdAware and Spybot. If they don't find anything, give it a shot with KAV or NOD. -
51 ms, and I am 15 years old. Don't know if that's good or bod, but I must say that the test is really good! I haven't payed attention to the brain-speed improvement program, but I think it's stupid. If you can get to the test and use the advance Internet options, your brain speed is probably good enough. It probably can't even be noticed if someone has 50 ms and the other person 88 ms, that really isn't much.

{} Deviantart ? {} anyone on there?
pyost replied to KovoWolf's topic in Graphics, Design & Animation
I believe there was a topic like this before, but what the hell. I've also been there since about a month or two ago. As fd said, it really is a special place. I would never believe it was possible for so many artist to gather at one place and share their talents. I don't know when and how dA started, but they are sure the best! pyost.deviantart.com -
I guess I'll stick with no-ip for now, because it's quite easy to use and it's doing exactly what I need. Since I have no PHP knowledge, I don't think I'll change this method

For normal users FTP clients usually have many complicated functions that aren't really necessary. If you are like I am (a normal user), you might of think of using Total Commander for FTPing. Beside using it as a FTP manager, you can also use it as a file manager. The functions it offers for FTPing are quite enough for me - you can connect, copy and delete As for CHMODing, you have to type "site chmod xxx filename", but I don't think that's a problem. I don't see why we shouldn't use the best file manager for FTP, too.

Just what I need! Now I'm waiting for my account to become active, so I can see if it works. But anyway, I'm still open for any answers concerning the page editing. Maybe a PHP page that displays the IP address from a MySQL base, which is updated from a form?

I really don't know how to do this, so I'm posting it in the general scripting sections. Mods, feel free to move this if necessary. Anyhow, I have found a great Winamp plug-in that allows you to broadcast what you are listening to. Of course, it needs an appropriate server, and other internet users can listen to your radio if they visit http://forums.xisto.com/ I have decided to put the link to my radio everywhere, but since I have a dynamic IP address it would be a problem to change the link all the time. What I need is someone to make me a script or anything I could use for the following. I would make a page at my web site that would contain the IP address. But since it changes all the time, I would need another page that would, when I visit it (every time I turn on my computer), change the IP address on the page and put in my new address (that the other page would find out). Something like that is offered by CO.NR, but they require that you put a piece of html code on your page, which I cannot do, since the page is automaticly generated by the server I run. Any ideas how to solve this problem? I believe it is not hard, but I have no expirience with this.

Let's say I understood all of that But I think I'll stay away from these two codes.. -
Two New BBCodes For Astahost
pyost replied to miCRoSCoPiC^eaRthLinG's topic in Alerts, News & Announcements
Great thing, but I'm really not sure I see the difference. Both are used by typing [ codename = smth ] smth [ /codename ] and the effect is the same. Maybe my test exaple was wrong, but why are there two seperate codes? -
Unstable Counter Strike FPS !! why do i have 99.9 fps
pyost replied to jokkesson's topic in Computer Gaming
I really don't see the problem here. As Jeigh said, if you really are annoyed by all those rapidly changing numbers, just type in net_graph 0. It is normal for them to change, as a constant frame rate cannot be maintained just like that. Nobody can help you here, since it is not a problem! If I were you I would be happy that I had that big frame rate.. -
Last Active 28th September 2005 - 10:20 PM I don't think he'll be coming back But if anyone needs templates, they should go to http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ - it's good AND in English
