1. Brushing, text, and renders are the most effectively used effects when working with signature design in my opinion. Renders work well with a character or person in your signature to base your sig on, and text adds to the class and quality of it, while naming it's author. Brushes are the overall design, and they add the background usually, if the backgrounds aren't filtered. Don't be a filter overuser! Fitlers often look bad when you use them, it's best to brush.

I agree partially (especially on using filters. I rarely EVER use filters) but I just wanted to note a few things. You really don't need renders, brushing, or text. I can make an awesome sig without any (or a combination, even) of those. Not saying that I don't like using those though. Renders, text, and brushing are an important part of my sigs, even if I don't NEED them.

But yeah, filters bite. Don't use filters. Ever.

I personally think the most important part of a sig is color. Even if it's black and white with a certain element colored (like below), color is still very important.

  2. Sweet, Yea I Dont Like The Text, Could You Help Me Out With My Sigs To Get That Saturation Trick And That Border I Realy Love The Sig.

Um, thanks, and those things are relatively simple...you can pm or im me about it I s'pose, but I'm not always around, or I'm around but unavailable.

    Looks great Johnny :D

The pixel text looks a bit funny to me though, is it the right size for the font?

Perhaps since the font has a grunge feel, you could have tried some more grunge brushing, or instead picked a font which matches a little better with the current background. I can't say it looks particuarly out of place though, and I have to really nitpick to find anything in this one :(

    148567

    Haha, thanks a lot CF.

1 -- It probably isn't the right size, because I'm an idiot. :(

2 -- I tried grunge brushes, but I suck at grunge, so I decided to try out some new abstracts I picked up. :P

3 -- Yeah, font selection seems to be a problem of mine...I just don't have the eye for it I guess.

But yeah, thanks for the comments and praise, I appreciate it.

  3. very cool indeed ... well you guys are just professional :D

    148348

Heh, believe me, I'm no pro. The stuff the guys (and girls) do at Gamerenders puts me to shame, really. I still gotta lot to learn.

amazing works you did ,looks nice and light ,very professional.

so many good sigs must be found in your site...right. :P

    148360

    Yup, thanks. ^-^

perfect now.. the font could be changed to another type...i think

    148383

    Heh, it could. :(

  4. veryvery cool. i agree with popular opinion regarding the first one.

    148206

    Thanks.

I like the first one best and the blue one isint bad either job work

    148209

Oh, so all the other ones are bad? Gee thanks!

    J/k. Thanks. :D

Johnny let me ask you something offtopic. I see all your work in photoshop here and it amazes me. I want to ask you if you would make a banner for my site. I would like to pay your something for that work, but the only way I can pay you is by moneybookers.com . I you would do that work, please we can discuss it in private message.

    Thanks

    148210

Well, I dunno how well I could do, but I could certainly try. PM me I s'pose.

  5. Wow!!!

    I like all of them...

    I think it's too striking...

It will be better if these background fades to the back to allow users to add text on them that comes to the main focus...

    148185

Thanks, but I don't quite get that last part?

Great work Johnny. I find that first one to be best of all.

    148190

Thanks. That's my fave too. ^-^

  6. I have CS, and I downloaded CS2, but my compy's a little lacking, so it ran kinda slow, and there's not that many new features anyway (the vanishing point isn't all that great, believe me. Smart layers are nifty though.), so I just decided to stick with CS, even if I could have kept CS2 for free. It's all a matter of preference on this one, really. I'd suggest to someone with a good computer and doesn't have Photoshop to get it, because it kinda is the best one yet, but someone who doesn't have a great computer, or already has Photoshop shouldn't bother, really.

  7. The flames in 3 look great. I also like No. 9, nice choice of colours. Good set of sigs, you're certainly better at this then I am!

    148039

Thanks. I think I could have done better on both of those though. ^-^

Those pictures are awsome.  Are they rendered with Photoshop?

    148134

Yes, those were all done in Photoshop, aside from the renders.

  8. Some really good ones there Johnny - nice improvement over your old Spiderman/Naruto sigs.

    I like 1,5 and 7...

1 - Has some good brushing in the background - nice how you blended his feet in with the image so it looks like he's "in it". It's cut out well and good matte settings for transperancies.

5 - Looks good, though I don't really like the thin yellow border - I think black would define it more... Text is nicely placed

7 - Render fits well with background and the border is unique - maybe just a little brown, but I think that's the effect :D

    I didn't go for 3, 6 or 8 so much:

3 - It looks dreamy, and to me the render doesn't fit that feel...

6 - Text is hard to make out and I just don't think the render works there - the stars don't look that good, probably the brush size was changed from default or something

8 - Once again text is kind of hard to make out, it's a little "too" spotty on the left, and maybe a little monotone for my tastes.

    Overall though, great work. :D

Thanks Cool Freaker, you're probably the one I most look forward to in comments, because you obviously know exactly what you're talking about. I agree with you on everything. You've pointed out quite a few flaws (some of which I knew about, but it's cool) and I think I might go back and fix them....eventually. :(

    Once again, thanks CF.

I like the sigs, I really like the spawn one because it uses png right?

    147920

Thanks, and yes, the Spawn one uses .png

There ok but alot of them are way! to light but a few are actually

pretty good I wouldn't use any of em since Im a very experianced graphics artist myself with photoshop

    heres my rating

Render 10 you did an exelent job with renders

blending 4 not so good here

    backround 6 meh pretty good

abstract 1 your abstract was not good at all

    over all 7/10

try and improve your skills a bit

    try learning some blending techniques

    keep the good work up

Ok, not to disrespect or anything, because for all I know you could be the BEST photoshop user EVER, but judging by the image in your sig and what you're saying, I don't quite think you're that experienced. I don't mean to offend, but could you show some examples of your work?

Anyway, thanks again all. I appreciate it. I'll have a few more soon.

  9. This is because in certain areas of Xisto's forums, most posts aren't really contributive, like for example the Jokes forum is usually copy-pasted jokes from around the web, so no posts are counted there. I don't decide the way the forums are set up, but I can tell you that's the main reason. If you want specific answers, I'd suggest asking an admin. So, sorry I couldn't help more, but I hope that generally answers your question.

  10. Thanks everyone for all comments on my sig. Now I made little different one. Here it is.

What do you think about it? What should I improve? Waiting for your sugestions. :D

    Thanks

    147689

That one is pretty okay. I'd suggest moving the text somewhere it doesn't interfere with the lightning, but right side up. Also, the emboss can go, as it detracts from the actual sig. Other than that, I got no problems with it. Maybe try some more mainstream sizes though. Mine are usually 400x100 or 400x400 for popouts.
