Disproving Mormonism A few facts that disprove the mormon faith
iGuest replied to Prox's topic in General Discussion
Both Matthew 1 and Luke 3 contain genealogies of Jesus. But there is one problem--they are different. Luke's genealogy starts at Adam and goes to David. Matthew's genealogy starts at Abraham and goes to David. When the genealogies arrive at David, they split with David's sons: Nathan (Mary's side?) and Solomon (Joseph's side). There are differences of opinion with two main options being offered. The first is that one genealogy is for Mary and the other is for Joseph. It was customary to mention the genealogy through the father even though it was clearly known that it was through Mary. "The second thing is that this genealogy differs in significant ways from the genealogy in Matthew. Why? Most Bible scholars believe that Luke gives the genealogy of Mary (who was also of the royal Davidic line), while Matthew traces the family of Joseph. Thus by both His mother and His earthly father, Jesus had a right to the throne of Israel." "Luke paused from his narrative to give Christ’s genealogy. While Matthew traced Christ’s lineage through Joseph, his legal father (see Matt. 1:1–17), Luke traced it through Mary, beginning with Mary’s father, Heli. (Men in ancient times often regarded their sons-in-law as their own sons.) The lineages of Mary and Joseph converge at King David (compare 3:31 with Matt. 1:6). "Those who take the latter opinion, that we have here the line of Mary, as in Matthew that of Joseph—here His real, there His reputed line—explain the statement about Joseph, that hewas “the son of Hell,” to mean that he was his son-in-law, as the husband of his daughter Mary (as in Ru 1:11, 12), and believe that Joseph’s name is only introduced instead of Mary’s, in conformity with the Jewish custom in such tables. Perhaps this view is attended with fewest difficulties, as it certainly is the best supported." Some critics may not accept this explanation and it is not without its problems. "The theory that Luke really gives us the family tree of Mary rather than of Joseph is improbable. The theory with least difficulties is that Matthew gives the descendants of David down the royal line (i.e. who was heir to the throne at any given time), but Luke gives the particular line to which Joseph belonged. The Bible should be interpreted in the context of its literary style, culture, and history. Breaking up genealogies into male and female representations was acceptable in the ancient Near East culture since it was often impolite to speak of women without proper conditions being met: male presence, etc. Therefore, one genealogy might be of Mary and the other of Joseph--even though both mention Joseph. In other words, the Mary geneaology was counted "in" Joseph and under his headship. I find it difficult to accept that those who collected the books of the New Testament, and who believed it was inerrant, were unaware of this blatant differentiation in genealogies. They must have understood what the historical/cultural context was and had no problem with it. Even though we cannot ascertain at this time a precise explanation does not mean one isn't forthcoming. After all, archaeological discovers clear up Bible "difficulties" on a regular basis. But, back to our discussion. Notice that Luke starts with Mary and goes backwards to Adam. Matthew starts with Abraham and goes forward to Joseph. The intents of the genealogies were obviously different which is clearly seen in their styles. Luke was not written to the Jews, Matthew was. Therefore, Matthew would carry the legal line (from Abraham through David) and Luke the biological one (from Adam through David). Also, notice that Luke's first three chapters mention Mary eleven times; hence, the genealogy from her. Fourth, notice Luke 3:23, "And when He began His ministry, Jesus Himself was about thirty years of age, being supposedly the son of Joseph, the son of Eli," This designation "supposedly" seems to signify the Marian genealogy since it seems to indicate that Jesus is not the biological son of Joseph. Finally, in the Joseph genealogy is a man named Jeconiah. God cursed Jeconiah (also called Coniah), stating that no descendant of his would ever sit on the throne of David, "For no man of his descendants will prosper sitting on the throne of David or ruling again in Judah," (Jer. 22:30). But Jesus, of course, will sit on the throne in the heavenly kingdom. The point is that Jesus is not a biological descendant of Jeconiah, but through the other lineage -- that of Mary. Hence, the prophetic curse upon Jeconiah stands inviolate. But, the legal adoption of Jesus by Joseph reckoned the legal rights of Joseph to Jesus as a son, not the biological curse. This is why we need two genealogies: one of Mary (the actually biological line according to prophecy), and the legal line through Joseph. -
First, there are two separate and significant components to this question: 1. What is the BASELINE noise level of the laptop? (i.e., boot it up, and see how loud it is). Most business-class laptops, macbooks, netbooks, and low-power laptops will perform well in this test. 2. What is the noise performance UNDER LOAD, and how fast does it get there? (i.e., boot it up, start streaming video, playing a blu-ray, doing 3D rendering, film editing, multi-track audio, demanding video games, etc, and THEN check the noise performance). What happens is, as you put more strain on the CPU/GPU, the components run hotter and the fan speeds up. Plus mechanical noises from the spinning hard drive, DVD drive, etc. Almost all laptops will run noticeably louder under load, and some very quiet ones actually become very loud under pretty moderate load (i.e., playing hi-res video). This significantly complicates the question, because you need to balance what you actually plan to use the laptop for against noise performance under those conditions. If all you do is typing documents and email and casual web-browsing, no problem. But if you want to stream video, play games, do media editing, or run lots of applications at once, your "quiet" laptop might start to sound like a jet turbine. In that case, you will want to look for a laptop that either remains quiet while maxed out (very rare), or else look for a laptop that has enough horsepower overhead that you will only rarely or never push its limits. This is especially important for people doing media editing or audio production. For example, trying to record music with a howling, over-stressed laptop. A good site that routinely tests noise levels under multiple conditions is http://www.notebookcheck.net/ You can use their "Purchase Consultation" link to select the criteria for the laptop you want (including noise/heat "emissions"), and get a list of laptops that have tested well.

I beleive that dragons were dino's who survived the meteor cataclysim for they were a flying creature and were no doubt able to populate most of the globe easily and due to the fact that if they could breathe fire im sure this aided in their adaption to survive the dust clouds and toxic gases due to their unique ability to retain the carbon dioxide or natural chemical used to create this flame

I would never recommend TCF bank unless you earn a high income and never, ever have less than a few grand in your account and even then, watch your accounts carefully. The problem with TCF, is that they are the worst offenders of stealing from the poor, which is why they have been called the Poor Man's Bank for as long as I can remember. If you have credit issues and low income, TCF will more likely than not take you on as a customer, because they will make a lot of money on your struggle to keep up with the cost of living...ie: you will overdraft at some point and perhaps several times over the course of the time you bank with them. Rich people don't overdraft, so you know you are an open candidate for discriminatory (sp?) practices by TCF if you are low income.I have had a TCF account since 1996 and am considering just having a Wal Mart debit account...and I despise all that Wal Mart stands for...but, again, when one doesn't have a lot of money, one cannot afford to make bankers more wealthy with "poor folk" fees. I have always had a checking into savings automatic deposit with TCF on the 15th of the month. If I don't have enough money in checking, they would not transfer. Well, now they transfer regardless if you have the money or not, and if you don't, which I didn't this last time, I received a notice of a $28. daily fee for the ISF in the transfer. I deposited money in the account immediately, and because it was after 1pm (but before 3pm), I was slapped with another $28. fee. Total cost? $101. for a $17.27 negative from the checking to savings transfer. Since this was a non-purchase ISF, the fee should have automatically been waived or the transfer not completed. In fact, this was the bank's practice up until a few months ago.The TCF Racket needs to be stopped. I am going to contact the Federal Reserve Consumer Complaints, at least one Federal Senator and try and find out what can be done to encourage TCF customers who have been cheated with these tricks to file a grievance.

Mascot Phobia cant understand why some are afraid of mascots
iGuest replied to serverph's topic in General Discussion
I have this phobia and I didn't really have it until a local radio station's rabbit mascot came to the Girl Scout camp I worked at and started hitting on all of the women there. then the realization set it that it could be a pedophile in the suit, or rapist. Anything. He was making the other counselors feel uncomfortable. Now I have the same fear for clowns and lately, masks. My dad got this plain white mask at a craft store that only has eye and mouth holes and anytime he gets it out, he sends me into a panic attack. I can't tolerate it. I cry and freak out and my heart races uncontrollably. I'm 18 and graduating soon. I'm not proud of this. My friends don't even know about this. I wish there was some way to get rid of it. -

Chase-good Example Of Bad Banking Stay clear of them
iGuest replied to Joshua's topic in General Discussion
OKAY LET START BY SAYING I HAVE AN ACCOUNT WITH CHASE. I OPENED A PERSONAL ACCT 3 YEARS AGO ON-LINE WITH JUST $50... NO I.D. FOR MY TAX REFUND. AFTER ABOUT 2 MONTHS OF NOT RECEIVING MY ATM CARD PIN I NEARLY LOST MY HOUSE. I COULD NOT ACCESS MY ACCOUNT BECAUSE I HAD NO I.D. (WHICH I NEVER HAD TO BEGIN WITH) AND MY PIN NEVER CAME. I WENT IN WITH BIRTH CERTIFICATE, SOC SEC CARD, MEDICAL CARD, BILLS, RENTAL AGREEMENT AND MY OUTSTANDING RENT NOTICE OF EVICTION. NO1 WOULD HELP ME. I COULD NOT EVEN GET AN I.D. BECAUSE I NEEDED $26 FOR THAT. ALL THEY OFFERED WAS $20 OUT OF THE $3800 SITTING IN THE BANK SMH. ITS A DAM SHAME. IT WAS $6 SHORT OF WHAT I NEEDED. I UNDERSTAND SECURITY MEASURES... HOWEVER IF I OPENED THE ACCOUNT WITHOUT PROOF OF WHO I WAS.... AND YOU ACCEPTED MY NEARLY $4000 WITHOUT PROOF OF WHO I WAS.... AAAAANNNNNDDDD IF I RECEIVED MY PIN I WOULD HAVE BEEN ABLE TO USE THE ACCOUNT AND EVEN CREATE A BILL WITHOUT THEM EVER VERIFYING WHO I WAS. ITS JUST NOT SMART. MY PIN NEVER CAME DUE TO A POST-OFFICE ISSUE I FOUND OUT.... BUT IT JUST MADE ME CURIOUS AS TO HOW MANY PEOPLE STEAL PEOPLES INFO AND JUST OPEN UP CHASE BANK ACCOUNTS IN THEIR NAME ON-LINE ALL ACROSS AMERICA? I HAD NO CREDIT AND NO I.D.... BUT I HAD A BANK ACCOUNT AND THE GUY WITH $1500 IN HAND WAS REJECTED? SMH AND NO I AM NOT YELLING :LOL -

Steam: What A Load Of Crap! I wish I could download pirated games.
iGuest replied to rob86's topic in Computer Gaming
I couldn't agree anymore my friend. Spent almost £40 on Skyrim and so far managed 3hrs of actual gameplay in 4 days due their crappy servers; and as for Napoleon: Total War! well I won't even go there, (it took the best part of a week just to install the effin thing!!). The best thing thing any of these manufacturers (SEGA etc.) could do to save their reputation is to tell Steam to stuff it where the sun don't shine. I can guarantee I'll be checking EVERY game from now on, no matter how much I want to play it, to see if it needs Steam; if it does, I'm sorry but it will stay in the shop. -

Hello friends. Am a post-graduate medical student and i couldnt help but reply to this anxiety-ridden thread. First things first, a doctor is a mortal human being, like an engineer, painter, driver, etc and is subject to all the social and personal pressures (more actually) as they are. Secondly, we take the Hippocratic oath whereby we swear to firstly do no harm and secondly do charity whenever we can. --> Now, having said those things, let me also mention that i am fully aware that there are some doctors which prescribe more expensive drugs when cheaper alternatives are available out of bribes/incentives given by pharmaceutical companies. Yes, it is unethical on that doctor's part as he must keep in mind the patient's financial status and prescribe a cheaper brand maybe, but that doesnt mean that he is prescribing something wrong/harmful/unnecessary. There are also doctors who i know who give entire week/month's worth medical treatment free of cost to their non-affording patients. Unfortunately, they dont get telecasted or published about. --> Secondly, the MCI (Medical Council of India) which is the central governing body of all doctors nationwide has taken action on the issue and made stricter rules for doctors regarding the acceptance of "conference trips/gifts"etc from pharma companies as bribes for pushing their brand over other identical formulations. But like all other problems of India are related to population, so is this. How many doctors will it chase and catch and how? It has to be a conscious and conscientious decision on the part of the doctor. The companies are here to make money, they are corporate giants, unmindful of patient's plight. Its the doctor's duty to consider these aspects. --> Thirdly, as rightly said by one of you, you must take care of your lifestyle and diet , before, during and even after going to a doctor guys! There is no escaping that!! He cant set things right that you have taken years to destroy! He is next to God, not God! --> Common sense is necessary for every action, so why skip it for the most important aspect of your life-your health. Use it to judge the doctor and his social standing. Most often you can just make out whether or not a doctor is corrupt. Dont be afread to ask questions. Its his/her duty to answer them and explain to you your condition and its your right to know what you are being prescribed and why. Reading up is good for one's own awareness more than for cross-checking the doctor's decision. It shall make you more confident about the doctor and his decision and strengthen your trust. --> Go to a doctor who has been recommended to you by a friend or relative. You are less likely to go to an unethical one that way.

Looking For An Airplane Fighter Game Any suggestions
iGuest replied to Kubi's topic in Computer Gaming
My favorite game of all time is a wwII Combat game called "secret weapons over normandy". It lets you unlock new planes and buy new weapons and upgrades for the planes you own. The campaign is long and the missions have good variation and even after you finish the campaign you can take on the computer in custom battles in which you can choose the place, the amount of CPUs and humans you want on each side, what type of planes each side uses (TONS of planes to choose from, you can even choose planes from star wars haha), and the difficulty of the CPUs. It is for ps2, xbox original (plays on the 360 too though), and I think pc but I'm not sure. This game is a must play for anyone who likes flying games.
