  1. Maybe I can get a piece of the action and sue vehicle manufacturers for aiding in polluting the countries with the fumes generated out of their vehicles, which is affecting my health and well-being and I'm finding it hard to sleep now, knowing that they are ruining our home planet.I think judges should be allowed guns and can make decisions instantly by pulling the trigger.MC
  2. Hey marcin, I would like to help you but I can't make out much from what you've said. What Operating System are we talking about? What is the IP address of the computer you're running Apache on? What is the computer's name? Are you accessing it from the computer that runs apache or from a computer on the network? As far as I can tell you want to type 'LOCALHOST/' and have it show your web server content, I will assume it is from the same computer. If this is on Linux we need to check a few things out. in your /etc/hosts file you need to check that 127.0.0.1 has the name localhost, you should also check that 'http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/' connects to your web server. If the hosts file checks out but this does not work, then we need to edit out apache configuration file which is called httpd.conf and could be located at /etc/httpd/conf/httpd.conf and in this file you need to search for a line that says Listen and make sure that it's shown as Listen:*:80 which means apache will listen for all connections to port 80. We could specifically say Listen:IP_of_computer:80 but then we must always specify that IP. Leave it as Listen:*:80 This way you can use IP to connect or LOCALHOST or http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ to connect, but from another computer you must use IP or http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ unless you setup the hosts files on those computers to redirect to your server, which is much easier to do than setting up a DNS server. Be sure to restart apache after making changes to this file or else it won't be affected till you restart. as root do /sbin/services httpd restart If this does not help, or you have trouble understanding, just let me know and I'll try simplifying or explaining more. Cheers, MC
  3. My first Linux was early stages of Red Hat, I then went onto Fedora Core 4 and have never considered switching to another distribution.Main reason would be to learn more about computers, to see what this crazy buzz was and to increase my productivity in programming. It's amazing how much help you can get in programming and I thought this was essential to getting better at programming. The early stages wasn't so successful though, I found myself switching back to windows because it was hard to pick up, but until RH 7.3 was when I fully converted over. It just did everything that I needed and had the information readily avaible. There were ups and downs, but eventually I managed to sort the problems out.I feel that MS direction isn't heading in the right place, they value their customers, but not enough to give them what they need without charging them. MS direction, forces you to buy newer computers, or upgrade. If you take a look at an installation of Windows XP, what tools have you got that would increase your productivity in Windows. I recall MS looking for people to write stories about how Windows helped them become successful, but I thought long and hard about this, and could not think of anything that it did that helped me be successful. In fact, most of the stories involved Software that wasn't included with the operating system, so I believe it spoke for itself when none of those stories used anything from the operating system other than having the ability to run those programs from Windows.More companies will catch onto Linux and further improve it. This is the only reason MS succeeded was due to the amount of software these companies started developing for it. Windows 3.1x was their turning point, Linux will eventually gain a turning point too.Cheers,MC
  4. Wow, thanks for the quick reply! I'll be signing up soon.
  5. It's quite hard to convert over unless you do have people who use Linux and I mean use Linux heavily.I had no one around to show me the ins and outs of Linux, I chose Red Hat as my distribution of choice and kept switching back and forth from Windows and Red Hat, it wasn't till around Red Hat 7.3 (I think) that I really saw the improvement and the way Linux was leaning to in which I successfully converted over to Linux.I am not a big gamer, and I know that's a big downfall when trying out Linux.I have to say my main reason for switching was to increase my productivity in programming, Windows made chores out of doing daily maintenance that it use to be a hassle. Everything that went wrong, would go wrong. It was so unexpected.I am now running Fedora Core 4 and it's my main OS, Windows XP still exists on here, but the only reason I would switch back would be to provide step-by-step guides for things I could not remember doing unless I was sitting in front of it.From a kernel that started out as a hobby, to being one of the greatest things to ever happen you should at least give it a whirl, maybe not to convert over, but to learn more about your computer.I am currently demonstrating infront of a class Knoppix (a live CD), just to show them Linux, some are impressed, some are not convinced yet, but Linux will be a lot bigger over time and eventually I believe to some degree it will overtake MS, maybe not in Bill Gates lifetime (he's supposedly retiring soon) but it will eventually get there. You maybe taking things for granted, but Linux and the open source movement provided those in developing countries who are running outdated computers (since MS no longer runs on them) the chance to learn about computing. At least don't spoil their dreams, and be grateful that they too have the opportunity to learn computing. If they can learn on Linux, then many more could too.Cheers,MC
  6. Hi, just a couple of quick questions:- is image hotlinking allowed? Like when I post in a forum and want to show a small picture from the hosted site, will it work?- what file format can be hosted? Is zip files allowed? Thanks!

  8. Traffic in the U.S. has become a big problem, it is almost horrific at what people will do just to get ahead of the other car. Like yesterday for example, a lady on her cell phone beeps at me for crossing the street when she had to stop and didnt even have her eyes on the road.

  15. I didn't know people had fake Windows. That is very scary
  16. Hi, I am new here on this site, it seems prett cool. I think i will stay with this site from now on. It has a lot of cool features, can someone show me how to apply for free web hosting.
  17. I heard about this MS funded test, but never read it.It's quite biased, and yet false truths are said, linux maybe shown more in bugtraq but all the software listed is not necessarily related to the operating system (they are comparing operating system right?), this is like comparing Microsoft with all Windows runnable programs, in which case you'd find that even Windows runnable programs have problems, but you can't say it's MS's fault.I see no security tests done, just comparisons over the amount of flaws/bugs, this still doesn't show that it's exploitable, this could just say that a certain feature did not work, etc. If they wanted to compare flaws/bugs, why not also list the severity of this flaws/bugs and then you'll notice MS has more critical flaws/bugs. Another thing is, MS prefer being contacted directly before any flaws/bugs are reported, usually the only time they are reported is when MS decides it's not a major concern.Another thing is they say MS create fixes in a timely matter, again a lot of hogwash. MS held onto some very critical patches that were to be released in Service Pack 2, because they never released it in a timely matter a security firm exploited it to make them hurry up, which made MS release the seperate patch afterwards because the exploit would have affected every XP user.Anything that's funded by an organisation to research a comparison between them and a competitor is definitely going to involve a lot of *bottom* kissing like this news report. At least they got paid well, I would not stoop down that low if I was to be paid to do this, I see it quite degrading.Cheers,MC
  18. I use OpenOffice but must suggest you familiarise yourself with MS Office because of it's mainstream use. A lot of job requirements is your experience with MS Office, it would be nice to see OpenOffice as the experience needed though.OpenOffice lives up to standards, it isn't behind MS Office, it's competitive and does the job well.It definitely is the choice if your budget is tight. If MS Office is being used at school/work then use that for better compatibility though. OpenOffice meets some of MS Office standards and can read it's file formats, but it still does lack with some of the formatting and display. If there is no requirement needed for MS Office, I would definitely stick with OpenOffice all the way.Cheers,MC
  19. I've written a guide on making SELinux co-operate with Apache, it's not really a good idea to disable SELinux so I looked for a method to work with this. You'll want to look up the "chcon" command (change security context) and you may want to use "ls -Z" to display what you need altered or to show you if it's correct. chcon -t httpd_sys_content_t -R $HOME/public_html Say in your /home/UserName/ directory you have a directory called public_html, this command issued above, will make all directories, sub-directories and files all allow access for httpd (apache) to be able use public_html as we specifically made it contain system content that apache is allowed to view. httpd_sys_exec_script_t should be set on all cgi/perl scripts as well as the cgi-bin directory. Have a look at This Post for more information and better ways of setting permissions on your directories. There could be more of these httpd_sys_ prefixed contexts, but the top two are the most common and most likely ones you'll ever need, I've not used any other context than these two on my own personal servers. This should hopefully get you comfortable with SELinux. Cheers, MC

    Maple Story

I kinda don't like Maple Story much. The reasons are pretty obvious of course. The gameplay barely changes as time go by, so you have to make a new character just to enjoy a different fighting style almost. Then there's the enemies. You beat up a pig running around, just for its ribbon. I found that quite sad... I rather play Gunbound than this because at least gunbound requires something more stronger, like precision, and I guess luck too.
  22. i have seen the site befor but i didn't have any idea now i'm a member i'm in the level 1 , 2159 credit , 45/150 experiense , i'm bore , in this game is very bad , specialy when i have 0 enrgy , " for me is a very bad game ", we can not compare it to Ragnarok ; Dofus ; MuOnline ; or conquer. i don't think that you enjoy to play this game Doomsday !?!?!!
  23. Resident Evil 5 looks amazing. I never got to play 0 and 4 yet, 0 might be never unless it comes to a system I have. I'm hoping to play 4 around December, when I actually have the time to play console games >_< Anyways, this game looks very nice, and the trailer was pretty amazing. It looked very real when he was walking and stuff too. What I'm wondering is who that guy is? Some people say that it might be Leon, and that this is the concluding story for him and stuff like that. Others said it was some guy named Billy from Resident Evil 0, which I dunno of since I never played it. Anyways, I hope for the best for this game!
