  1. I like the overall layout and graphics of this site. I thought the intro music and openning page were a bit drab.
  2. i need a counter for my website but i dont want it to be to big and i dont want any ads that go with it. I need it to be bland and boring i dont want it to stand out. I just want it to be for my viewing eyes only.
  3. I need a lots of graphics for my new website and i need a free program to make some tight graphics to make my website less boring. I dont want any programs with spyware or ads because i just got rid of those on my computer. I dont want the program to do anything harmful to my desktop.
  4. Have you guys tried Spybot and Adaware SE. Both of them really work together well and seem to keep the spyware and other bugs off my computer. Ever since i got these two programs on my Laptop it has been booting up faster and i see less pop ups when surfing the web.
  5. Yes the Xbox 360 is free but i am sure the gold account will be accopanied with much better features than some lame demos it will probably have a more updated firmware and have better searching capabilitie to find your friends and connect to better and more servers.this i have only learned through reading articles and other forums, i mean my predictions could be totally off but you should think that its coming free there has to be sum kind of a catch
  6. Wow thanks for the warning there is no way i am going to pay the bill now. In fact i think i am going to write a letter to the head of the department or the what ever supervisor they have to make sure this kind of thing doesn't keep happening.
  7. 5 Minutes? I seriously hope you're exaggarating, man. I've seen Windows XP load on a Pentium-I system with only 32MB, and it took about 3-4 minutes. Yes, I know Windows XP requires 64MB RAM minimum, but that's only at the installation phase. After that, you're on your own, but it's not pretty. So tell me more about your hardware and the operating system you're using. I mean unless they're as old as KFC, there must be something terribly wrong with them. But anyway, maybe we can work something out.
  8. Was it worth it? It damned well should, since I think they already broke the law for it! Do you know how much Norton AV 2006 costs? Measly 40$. And Spysweeper? 30$. So if you went to Symantec and bought NAV, then to Webroot and bought Spysweeper, you'd pay only $70. Remeber, if you do that, you'll have valid, legal licenses for both pieces of software, not to mention the updates and customer support. All you have now is a (most likely) stolen copy of the two programs, which even that you would lose if you had to format your system for any reason. But that's not all. Best Buy is a notorious suck-a$$ company. There's a whole site dedicated especially for it, called Best Buy Sucks! Here's one of the zillion e-mails former BestBuy customers sent to this site... Lovely, wouldn't you agree? I have no advice for you about the 100 bucks you payed, but I think I advised you enough NOT to go to Best Buy ever again. Good luck next time, and sorry about your money, man!
  9. So i sent in my computer to Best Buy after it crashed and they said the reason it crashed is because of spyware. So they installed Norton Antivirus and Spysweeper and make me pay an extra $100. I wanted to know if it was worth it? I mean 100 dollars is a lot of money and i wanted to know if there are any alternatives?
  10. Well, OpenFest is well-known for its organization of festivals and events for free and open-source software developers and technologies. I'm not sure whether this is its first event in Bulgaria, but it should be worthwhile regardless.Unfortunately, I don't know much about the status of Bulgarian software development. How about you tell us about it, alongside your narrative of the festival's events??!
  11. Ok, I haven't used a 24-port yet, but here's how it works on my other 4- and 8-ports. You hook the Internet line into the router (whether it's a normal phone line for dial-ups, or a RJ-ended cable for DSL, etc.). From the router, you hook another cable to the first port of the switch. Now your switch supposedly has access to the Internet. So now, for each computer in your network, you hook one cable into an empty port of your switch. And that's it for me. Try it. I think it's the same for all switches. Good luck!
  12. PC Astray, I totally agree with you. If your system can manage multiple anti-malware software running, or you're patient enough to use each one in turn, then you should definitely do that. What one misses the other is bound to catch. But frankly, I'm yet to find something that Bazooka misses. There came a time when I deliberately download bizzare spyware to see whether Bazooka could find it. And it most certainly did. But still, nothing wrong with playing it safe. And about Microsoft's Anti-Spyware... I don't recommend it for now. Microsoft's Beta products are notorious for their buggy code. Besides, they give a lot of false positives. So unless you're a seasoned user, you should wait until either Microsoft improves on it, or a new all-out software comes around.
  13. It seems like a decent piece of software. I only sifted through it, but still it seems to be a very beginners-friendly program. I think it's a nice tool for newbies, but I think we should start looking for tools that support XHTML already. Nevertheless, thanks a very nice program, HTML_Guru!
  14. ROFL!!!!!!!!Oh my God, that's the funniest S#@! I've seen in a while. I couldn't stop laughing at the Java program (I think it was Java, that really long code snippet; I was laughing too hard to notice). And that part about the guru hacker simply echoing the string?? That was hilarious. Thanks a lot, Ranger!
  15. I've been using this tool, called "Bazooka Adware and Spyware Scanner," for a year or so now, and I firmly believe it's the ultimate anti-adware and anti-spyware tool there currently is. Bazooka is really small (under 1MB), and it's totally free; its database is very comprehensive; it's very light on your system; it scan your system for malware in merely a couple of seconds, but don't let this fool you, it does the job perfectly. You can also update the database from within the program. Now, I think the reason only few people know about this tool is because it requires a little work. Other adware detection and removal tools which enable you to delete adware with a click of a button, which is certainly great, but the problem is that they don't completely delete all traces of the malware. So sooner or later, your system may get re-infected. Bazooka requires you to actually delete the adware yourself. It's a nag, I admit, but I found it was the only way I can be completely sure about the cleanliness of my system. Plus, it provides you with step-by-step instructions on how to remove the infecting adware from your system. Anyway, if anyone out there has tried it and knows it's not that good, then please let me know so that I might change to another tool. And for those of you who would like to give it a shot, here's the link... http://www.kephyr.com/spywarescanner/index.html I hope that was helpful.
  16. I've tried a couple of AV Programs myself, but currently I'm using Avast Home Edition. It's a Super-AV, if one can be called that. It's very light on the system resources; the interface is very decent and is skinnable, too; it has resident, e-mail, P2P, and Instant Messaging sheilds; updated quite regularly; and it's totally free with no advertisment. I seriously love it!I haven't tried AVG yet, but for some reason, I don't think I wanna. But if I do, I'll tell you what I think about it, too.
  17. That is the point to get "consistency" which is the same as saying standardised.Browsers have two modes, standards compliant and quirks. This is usually determined by the DOCTYPE being used. If there is no DOCTYPE it will be rended in quirks mode which could be based on HTML 2/3/4 etc, browsers didn't have to follow any DOCTYPE definition, however if they did base it on 2 there would be more problems encountered. However you could still have a DOCTYPE and it would be incorrect, in which case either a mix mode of standards and quirks or just quirks would be applied, again nothing to determine which to apply, it is browser dependant.Quirks mode was created for compatibility, since then that was when web desigers could do what they like and still have browsers render their site correctly or incorrectly, depending on every individual browsers method of handling quirks. This was so the majority of sites would still be able to be seen.I think we've lived in this mess long enough, that it's time for us to clean our act. If browsers only supported standards, web developers would definitely have to clean their act. It is this clean up that will take the longest and is why browsers do not go down this path. I am doubting ever seeing this change in my lifetime either, so instead of just "hot air" I will strive to guide web designers/learners into teaching them correctly by following standards.HTML 4.01 is a mess, XHTML 1.0 is still a mess but aimed to clean up it's act, XHTML 1.1 cleans up but still is messy, XHTML 2.0 again is another cleanup and I can say this is getting nearer and nearer to a cleaner markup language, yet few browsers support it. There is little in features being added to this language, it's all been a slow cleanup. The features that are added are external and seperate from it.However this is different for Web Browsers, they don't clean up that part, they refine it or they build on top of that mess making sure that backwards compatibility is still achieved. I understand the importance of having your browser actually work, but they could probably do more in teaching people correctly, and achieve that ability for them to move on. I don't know if you know this but IE in the browser war lost and then came up with integration however with IE5 I think, they had achieved around 90% support for CSS1 and literally blew every browser away in this respect, but once they achieved that market, it went downhill, they slacked off, and continued to be behind. While other browsers try their hardest to support standards, they can only slowly gather back that market. I am positive a big factor of this is the integration but none the less, the more compliant browsers, are not getting as much recognition as they should and are being attacked for rendering sites incorrectly when IE rendered them fine. I listened in on IE7's development and heard positive things, but then to be told XHTML was not even being considered shocked me. (rumour had it MS were going to ignore standards and work more with ASP and quite possibly their own Markup, big disappointment in web development as this was what standards were trying not to have). IE don't really have a roadmap to their development, you just tell them what they've missed and they either make it a priority or say it can wait. Now that they're nearing release, you can only point out what they are missing but more importantly bugs or issues they have and what was missed can wait till next round.Cheers,MC
  18. Just to clear this up, users will not be banned by IP addresses due to their dynamic nature and that we may accidently ban people who should not be banned. We ban the user and their email address. They can continue registering with a new username and email address, and we will continue banning them if they step out of line again. They think they can register over a hundred emails, good, because we can ban over a hundred emails too and we don't mind doing our job. Eventually they will get sick of this, and no doubt we would be sick of it too, but we won't give up since that is our job of making sure we keep our forums to an acceptable level. Cheers, MC
  19. At the moment psp games are slightly over normal. They aren't really as good as what you'd expect. But it's the early life of a system as many of you know how that usually works. In time there will be some amazing games. There's already some amazing ones right now. Like if you're into FPS games, get Coded Arms. If you're into sports, there's nfl games like madden, or nba, and even hockey. Or if you want, get the golfing game hots shot golf. I'm addicted to that game, quite fun. Then there are lots of racing games, like Ridge racer, and wipeout. Wipeout is amazing, and if you tunnel a router, you can play people online, more fun :3 Then there's Metal Gear Acid, a card/action game. Very good for it's new genre, and can't wait for part 2.There's a lot of good games coming out too. Check out websites like http://www.gamefaqs.com/ for a list of the games announced and/or coming out soon. I have so much on my list I don't know where to begin!
  20. Wow I was reading on that site stated by someone in this topic earlier. IT has this amazing shot of a jumping spider that I've never seen before! It eats these musquitos, and usually the female ones with human blood in them. Amazing stuff I tell you.Anyways, maybe Nessie does exist. Maybe even a dozen of them exist too. There's a whole new world underwater and with the technology we're coming up with everyday, it's only a matter of time before we see some very unusual sea monsters. But still, what does Nessie look like? How can we be sure it looks like that too? Maybe it's just the name of some guy taking a shot of a deformed whale's tale or something above water and going down back. It's really a mystery this is. I can't wait to grasp the truth one of these days. And hopefully it's not too far as to say I'm already dead x_x
  21. Well, Killer, this sounds good. If JavaScript, DHTML, and FLASH work for you and - most importantly - your visitors, then great. But you should keep in mind that XHTML is NEITHER a new technology like JavaScript and FLASH NOR a HTML alternative like DHTML. XHTML is the proposed substitute for HTML. It's not an add-on or an extension. Like MC said, it's proposed to not only rectify, but basically eliminate the shortcomings of HTML. You see, HTML has gone over the years through so many modifications... many of them were forced upon by features that IE and Netscape incorporated in their browsers in order to dazzle their users. One would add blinking text, the other would add marquee or scrolling text. And since the W3C has no actual control over this process, it had to work with what already exists. The proposed XHTML is all but a totally new approach. Sometimes I think of it as the first time the W3C truly has the initiative. And the best thing is, XHTML doesn't force designers to do something; it frees them to do whatever they want, in a way that's compatible with the all browsers. So it won't diminish creativity or increase control; it'll simply enforce consistency. I think I now understand your point better, MC. Am I right?
