  2. Mastercomputers - Most universities or tertiary institutions (in Australia anyway) use numbers as the first character in their email addresses. Each student will have their student number as their email addresses (ie mine is 1336***5@student.curtin.edu.au ) So it is possible, and common for email addresses to start with numerals. I do agree with your other comments though. What I do is set a flag using js to let my php script know that js has validated the form. This avaiods validating the form twice, but if the user has js disabled, then PHP validates the form.-alex
  3. Narutos dad isn't the 4th. The 4ths name is Minato Namikaze. he trained kakashi rin and obito. Narutos parents were killed before minato sealed the kyuubi in naruto. minato has some blood connection though because you need one to transfer the sealed person/thing to another medium. Minato was probably his uncle or something.-Minato Namikaze
  4. Xboxrulz doesn't know what he is talking about... CDMA and WCDMA are not at all the same thing. Not only is WCDMA not CDMA, the two technologies are not even compatible. Also, there are no WCDMA plans for Canada. I work in the mobile phone industry both for my employer (in a technical capacity, but I am not at liberty to name them, and with my own startup company that works with mobile data deliveryTechnically speaking, CDMA is superior and offers several technical benefits (greater data transfer speeds, greater reception and range, less susceptible to dropped calls), but since it is a patented technology it is not free and its use incurs royalties for the cellular provider. Because of this, and because GSM already boasts 8 times as many users, and therefore the more important market for phone manufacturers, GSM and then UMTS will win out and that's a shame.-AllC
  5. Not being confrontational but, I understand about electrical frequencies etc so if I took my garmin 305 gps watch onto a plane surely this will omit the biggest interference-lizard
  6. "one among non-Christians and one among Christians, and Catholics fit the definitions of both of these." This is what I was trying to clear up for some people. Because I have not had the extensive time to question every catholic, the MANY, MANY, catholics that I am in contact with at school show me AND HAVE TOLD ME that accepting Jesus into their lives as the only way to heaven was NOT something they are concerned with. Obviously I came off as an arrogant fool with some of my previous statements, which I apologize for. But speaking from the *small experience that I've had with catholics, they live like the rest of the world throughout the entire week, and repent on Sunday. They haven't show ANY form of their belief unless they needed it as a safeguard-escape from a situation. Don't get me wrong, I have met a couple who have accepted Jesus as their personal savior, and they choose to worship traditionally. That's totally okay! Alot of people would rather not worship God with screams or hardcore Christian music like I do, and that's not something to condemn anyone over.Let me rephrase myself now, the catholics that I know and have met do not believe that accepting Jesus is the only way to heaven.-Larry Burnett

  10. [edit] Steps :Be clean. No one likes a smelly guy! Brush your teeth, take showers (notice the plural), and please wear deodorant. Don't wear your pants off your butt, it's not that attractive, girls like guys whose pants actually fit. This is the number one step if you are even going to approach an attractive girl. Have a good attitude : No girl likes to watch a guy put on a show, so be yourself. Don't try to be Mr. Popular and impress everyone. Girls dig humble guys. It is far more impressive not to try to impress people. This of your mouth with your finger, that makes her think about kissing... maybe even kissing you. When around her friends, respect them and their ideas and opinions. Always speak highly of her and never, never, never talk trash about her. It will damage her reputation and yours. And she'll dump you because, of course, her friends are going to tell her that you trash talked her. Be polite to her parents. Be kind to everyone, especially them. Try and support the girl in every aspect. Do not argue much and if you think she is doing something wrong always explain it to her and correct her mistake. Never -and I mean never- shout at her or get angry over her. Always be romantic and say sweet stuff. But stay within your limits and don't copy! So not cool to say cheesy lines out of cheesy teeny-bopper movies! Blech! Learn to accept defeat. It's not always a bad thing. Take it and learn from it, so that the next time you see an attractive girl, you will know your weaknesses and try to build on those. Although if you know her relationship is heading south, send little notes, or smile at her, or if you are really daring go to her house and talk to her. Girls love that! It makes them feel really confident. Be yourself. Introduce yourself :Don't do this while she's talking to someone or looks like she's in a hurry. This will probably annoy the girl, and lessen your chances of impressing her. Strike up a conversation first. After a few exchanged smiliuohpoes, give her your name. Please don't try any pickup lines on her unless they are specifically to make her laugh! After you have been talking for a few minutes, tell her you'll see her later or something like that and walk away. Don't be taking up too much of her time. About 5 paces (steps), turn around and smile or wave. If she's still watching (or even better, smiles or shyly laughs) she's at least a little bit interested! Do not play hard to get. After a while, the girl will get annoyed, maybe even angry. Or if she likes a guy who's like that, her friends might not like you because you're acting like a jerk (this happens way too much). If she plays hard to get, refuse to jump through hoops and walk away. Make a good impression with her friends. Also, if you go so far as to meet her parents, you DEFINITELY want to make a good impression with them! Be careful what you say. Some girls might find a perverted sense of humor funny and enjoyable while others might be completely disgusted. Some girls are offended when people cuss and swear so keep that to a minimum if you do any of the above. Some girls think it actually does make a guy look tough when they cuss and talk about beating up other guys. So it all depends on the girl you're trying to impress. But until you really get to know her, keep everything "politically correct". Impress her : with your shoes! This sounds a little strange, but some girls are very attracted to guys who wear shoes that go along with the girl's stereotype (like, punk, prep, or whatever). Find out who some of her ex-boyfriends or really good guy friends are and see what the majority of them are. If most are skaters, try wearing Vans, DC, Element, etc. Preps=Nike, New Balance, etc. Converse are usually a safe bet with any style, depending on the color and type (I.e. classic high tops for the emo types, grey or brown low-tops for preps and/or skaters). This is not GUARANTEED to work, but it helps with first impressions! Look presentable. Look neat and well presented. Wash your hair regularly and make sure your breath smells fresh. Do not complain about how girls never like you or how you were dumped, etc. This is not flattering on your part and puts the girl in an awkward situation. She probably won't feel bad for you, but rather be turned off! If you know a song she likes, sing or hum a few bars around her. She might think of you whenever she hears that song. And she'll probably be impressed by your good taste in music. Some girls have actually dumped guys or stopped liking guys when they insulted the music they like. So, it's OK not to like her music, but don't be insulting her favorite singer/band!Try to agree with her as much as possible but so over the top that she knows your not being yourself. Start an inside joke with her! She will feel included and become closer to you. It also gives you an easy-to-come-up-with conversation starter. Try not to kill the joke though. If all fails, tell her you like her and maybe she will like you too. [edit] TipsShow sympathy! If the girl you really enjoy being around is sad or hurt, give her a hug. Don't just say that you're sorry and you hope she feels better, and don't just give her a one second hug (unless she wants one). Hold your left arm around her waist, right hand at the base of her neck or holding her head. Let her cry on your shoulder and comfort her. Sometimes, the moment doesn't call for words. Just the sheer fact that you are holding her will make her feel a lot better. If you have braces, glasses and acne, don't be disheartened! Make it work! Don't let those "faults" make you lose confidence in yourself. Confidence is very sexy. Have good posture! This is not just a stupid cliche I'm writing to take up space!! If the girl sees you from behind and you're standing up pretty straight, with just a SLIGHT slouch, she will automatically assume you are good looking. If you're hunched over with your arms folded across your chest and you are walking with your feet slightly in-ward, it doesn't matter how hot you really are, because girls won't take a second glance at you. Posture is important! Don't act too tough to smile! Ever since we're babies, we love being smiled at. It's human nature. It doesn't make a difference if you're a baby or a hot girl. Everyone loves a sincere smile. Sadly, social status does matter to some people. But if it matters so much that she won't even give you the time of day because she thinks she's better than you, she isn't worth your time. Don't follow her around everywhere! It automatically gives you a rep as a stalker! If she just doesn't get that you like her (which most likely won't happen because girls are pretty good at detecting this kind of stuff!), say something like "So-and-so likes so-and-so!! Know how I can tell? He/she's always staring at her/him!" if you stare at her a lot. Hopefully she will get the hint that someone else likes someone because they're staring at the said person. Don't play games! Don't do any of that, such as waiting a few days to call her or showing up a little late to things. Those just show that you are a fake and a loser. Likewise, don't tolerate it if she does any of these things. Use correct grammar when texting her or talking to her. Try to also connect with her friends but be careful of coming off as a player. If a girls friends approve of you, they can be helpful allies and a valuable source of information. [edit] WarningsIf you have followed all the steps above and it just doesn't work out between you and her and sometimes it doesn't remember that you tried and you at least (hopefully) got her attention. If she dumps you for some other guy, it doesn't mean that you can never talk to each other again or that you can't be friends. Sometimes, good friends are better than a girlfriend or boyfriend. If you hear that her and some other guy are together, be happy for her. Don't be snotty and never talk to her again. Ask how things are going between her and him, and if she really likes him. If you show interest in her, even after you have broken up, she will still enjoy being around you because she probably knows you better and isn't afraid or scared that you will turn her down. If she enjoys your company, hang around. Also, get to know her boyfriend. If you and he are friends, you will get to hang around the girl you love. One last, very important thing: An old saying goes, "If you really love her, you will learn to let her go." Also, it says above that some girls like to talk about themselves- remember, some girls do. Some also would rather not have you obsessing about her hobbies, sports, etc. Be cool. Relate what she's saying to something about you, and then continue the conversation. [Remember to talk about yourself and your own hobbies etc. That way you come off as a good conversationalist and as a person with a life.] Try to win her over, but do not try too hard! Every girl is different! Find out if she likes tattoos before you show her the skull and crossbones tattoo on your chest! Never rush her Dont show attitude Don't talk about her stomach or weight or ask her or anything related to this subject. Don't be shy! Girls love confident guys. Don't be cocky. Be Tough but Sensitive Dont try to be funny too much ESPECIALLY if you aren't-lunarhound
  11. White southerners are mistaken for racist rednecks. They say that we treat black people unfairly, and we need to give them sympathy. Well let me tell you something that me and almost every other southerner thinks of all you liberal democrats. We are not racist at all. Yea they have the KKK but that doesn't mean every southerner is in it. We feel so sorry for all these black people and we give them special treatment. Everything you see on the news is always about white people being racist to black people. Black people are never considered racist. Black people get more special treatment than white people. You can't talk about black people on TV. But black people can talk about white people. White people that say "*BLEEP*", get jumped at school. And black people that say cracker? Nothing happens to them. We offended a black person in gena 6. They about killed that white guy that did that and now everyone is on the criminals side? Thats ridiculous. No they shouldn't of hung that noose. But now it's a felony? What if a black guy offends a white guy? are they gonna make them stop offending us? I don't think so. Black people are always complaining that everything is there fault because they are black. Yea black people do get treated differently. They get away with stuff and they take advantages over white people. Slavery was in the 1700's and 1800's so stop trying to say you care because I bet only 18 of black people actually care. They just use that as an excuse. A scientist at Harvard University discovered that black people and white people think differently, and this is why they have different opinions. They fired him for being racist.-Alex
  12. I think they go a little too far when it comes to PDA @ my school, they even banned high fiving and shaking hands!!! Some stuff like making out and stuff like that make sense, but no high fiving, I MEAN COME ON!!!!!-Jeni
  13. I have a question too. I am creating a site and I need to make a picture that will enlarge when it is clicked. I could use javascript for that or simply <img src="myimg.jpg" onClick="window.location=src"> something like this, I can't remember the sintax exactly, but my problem is that I need to make the pic enlarge without using onClick, or onSubmit or other things like that. I am using a program (typo3) wich will map it and by doing that the picture will lose the onClick part. I also need to use the same code for many pictures. if you have any idea about this pls let me know... and I hope I explained it right cuz I'm not to good in explaining my thoughts.thanks-cami
  14. Seems to me like you ran a automatic windows update, reboot the machine go to security tab in internet options and make sure the settings of local intranet is set to default and not custom.-Rohan
  15. Nicole is probably the closest one to being NOT crazy on this whole topic. Dear MajesticTreeFrog, Catholics do not believe in Jesus dying on the cross for our sins. The bible clearly states the "For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." (Romans 3:23) Obviously that means that we need a way to get to God, because there is a separation of sin between us and God. "For the wages of sin is death, and the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." (Romans 6:23) In the literature of this statement, this would mean that there will be an answer given later or can be found elsewhere in the text. Well, it just so happens that John 3:16 says: (let's say this for the millionth time now ) "For God so loved the world that He gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him will not perish, but have eternal life." The ONLY way to heaven is to accept that Jesus IS the Son of God, and that if we believe that He died for the WHOLE worlds' sins, then He rose again 3 days later. This is the way to heaven. Saints, and priests are not any closer than the next person. "...not by works, so that NO MAN can boast."As far as I'm concerned, Catholics are not Christians.-Larry Burnett
  16. Most of you would have heard of AJAX. What is it? Is it a language? No. It's JavaScript. Basically, AJAX lets us get the content from an external page without reloading! It's especially useful when you need to get information from a serverside script (e.g. A php page that gets information from a database), and you don't want the page reloading all the time. So how do you use AJAX? Let's make an example. Make a new html document. Let's call it ajaxexample.htm. Make it look something like this: <html><head><title>AJAX Example</title></head><body><a href="#" onClick="doAjax();">Click here!</a><br><br><span id="ajaxspan"></span></body></html>Note this line:<a href="#" onClick="doAjax();">Click here!</a> We make the href parameter "#", because just plain "" would cause the page to reload when we clicked the link, and not putting the href parameter at all would mean the link wouldn't be coloured/underlined. This doesn't matter all that much, but it makes a nicer effect that just clicking on text. This line: <span id="ajaxspan"></span> Will be used when we actually make the script, which we're doing now! Place this in the head tags of your page: <script language="JavaScript" type="Text/JavaScript">function GetXmlHttpObject(){ var objXMLHttp = null; if (window.XMLHttpRequest) { objXMLHttp = new XMLHttpRequest(); //Checks if the XMLHttpRequest variable should be used } else if (window.ActiveXObject) { objXMLHttp = new ActiveXObject("Microsoft.XMLHTTP"); //Checks if Microsoft.XMLHTTP should be used (For IE) } return objXMLHttp;}function doAjax(){ xmlHttp = GetXmlHttpObject(); //Set the xmlHttp variable url = 'ajaxpage.php'; //Set the url variable to ajaxpage.php. We'll make this page later xmlHttp.open('GET', url, true); //Tell the client what page we want, and how to get it xmlHttp.onreadystatechange = updateSpan; //Tell the client what function to do when the state of xmlHttp changes xmlHttp.send(null); //Sends the request document.getElementById('ajaxspan').innerHTML = 'Loading...'; //Sets the text inside the "ajaxspan" element to "Loading...", so the user knows it's doing something!}function updateSpan(){ if (xmlHttp.readyState==4) //If xmlHttp's state is 4 (the page is loaded) { document.getElementById('ajaxspan').innerHTML = xmlHttp.responseText; //sets the "ajaxspan" element to whatever was on the page }}</script>Big bit of code, isn't it! Basically, it sets the xmlHttp variable to whatever's the best Ajax XmlHttp variable for the browser, then it tells the client to load the page "ajaxpage.php", and puts "Loading..." onto the page while it loads, then when it loads, it replaces the loading text with whatever's on the page! Now for the final bit, ajaxpage.php. You can do this however you want, here's a simple example that just shows "Hello world!" <?phpecho 'Hello, world!';?>Simple, huh? Your final ajaxexample.htm page should look like this: <html><head><title>AJAX Example</title><script language="JavaScript" type="Text/JavaScript">function GetXmlHttpObject(){ var objXMLHttp = null; if (window.XMLHttpRequest) { objXMLHttp = new XMLHttpRequest(); //Checks if the XMLHttpRequest variable should be used } else if (window.ActiveXObject) { objXMLHttp = new ActiveXObject("Microsoft.XMLHTTP"); //Checks if Microsoft.XMLHTTP should be used (For IE) } return objXMLHttp;}function doAjax(){ xmlHttp = GetXmlHttpObject(); //Set the xmlHttp variable url = 'ajaxpage.php'; //Set the url variable to ajaxpage.php. We'll make this page later xmlHttp.open('GET', url, true); //Tell the client what page we want, and how to get it xmlHttp.onreadystatechange = updateSpan; //Tell the client what function to do when the state of xmlHttp changes xmlHttp.send(null); //Sends the request document.getElementById('ajaxspan').innerHTML = 'Loading...'; //Sets the text inside the "ajaxspan" element to "Loading...", so the user knows it's doing something!}function updateSpan(){ if (xmlHttp.readyState==4) //If xmlHttp's state is 4 (the page is loaded) { document.getElementById('ajaxspan').innerHTML = xmlHttp.responseText; //sets the "ajaxspan" element to whatever was on the page }}</script></head><body><a href="#" onClick="doAjax();">Click here!</a><br><br><span id="ajaxspan"></span></body></html> And if it all goes well, when you click the "Click here!" link, the text "loading..." should appear, then once it's loaded, "Hello world!" It should be easy to fiddle around and modify it to suit your needs. I hope you learned a little about AJAX!

  18. Maybe it isn't an end to the world in the for of. everything dies. but more that the world as we know it dies but it comes back better. I have read many things on the and I think it means 2012 with be the end of the bad world. and we will see the birth of a greater one. But if it is the case that everything dies. You might want the get used to the idea. tell everyone you love them.-Turock

  20. A iPod is like an MP3 player, in so many ways, except the iPod is stylish, pretty, and has a color screen. But then again, there are an even greater variety of MP3 players out there with bigger, better screens, cooler looks, and much more. Why is the iPod so "popular"? Simply since commercial advertising made people thing it is. STOP WATCHING TV! Not to mention, half the movie stars out there are paid to carry iPods around with them. Thus, you see it everywhere, giving you the forced opinion that everyone needs one. Now, if I am right, then the following will make everyone stop buying iPods:.-Zylstra
  21. The new gta's are like a million times better then halo, halo2 or halo3. I, and other people completed halo3 in like 1 day, id like to see someone complete gta in one day, its not possible. gta's graphics are the best that the ps2 has to offer, when gtaIV arrives for the ps3 the graphics will just rule over all other games
  22. Well its not the best game I've ever played... there are a bunch of other games out there way better then this one like... 2moons, conquer, rapples etc. check them out! I played them all and their fun!-Leiana Ah Loy
  23. Look guys, I've had McAfee, Avast!, AVG and lots of more AV Software. Norton, in my opinion, it slows pc a bit but it protects it better than other AV programms. It's fame it based on its protection... not speed. -George
  24. Here I am adding my voice to yours for Avast Anti-Virus. it's splendid, yet a friend of mine once told me that it had deleted some codes in the registration, I mean in the system. what I like the most in Avast is : the automatic update, not to mention the attention sound , furthermore, I used NOD32 anti-virus, it's great also and it's less in size
  25. I have been working w/Dell tech. I am one of the dummies who added a HDD password then forgot it. Dell provided me w/hdd passwords, none of the 10 p/w's worked. What can I be doing wrong? or could I have another issue also? At the same time that I put the hdd password on my Inspiron 4000 laptop I also updated my BIO'S. If U cannot tell..I am a rookie. Thanks, from-theladydiane1
