  2. Yes, I read your answer, and I googled "poll scripts" as well and got the expected result (thousands of returned pages) ... so I just thought maybe he didn't actually serach for "poll scripts" exactly as he typed it ... but, I've also never heard of the "too many answers bug", so, I obviously didn't consider that possibility. I guess the bug is pretty self-explainatory, but do you have any more information about it?

  5. its DUMB. Should Students In School Show Pda's Replying to pixieloo Darling [[or dude]], its human nature to show affection towards people I cant even hug my own friend w/o being harassed by teachers [[or staff]] that are so bored with their lives and their job that they have to try and make us walking robots. However, I don't think they should get rid of it, but rather lighten it up a bit. I do think groping and making out in the hallway is extreme, but HUGGING is just fine. Some parents that are working during the day are being bothered at work because their kid was caught "showing PDA". Parents that work nights, and require sleep during the day [[my parents]] are being woken up for this. I am appalled at how I had to serve after school detention for hugging mi best friend who was in need of comfort. And I'm on the "black list" with mi parents because they had to waste money for gas to come and pick me up afterwards. >:l I hope I can change the minds of the nampa school district administrators [[head honchos]] about this policy. -reply by Jennielyn Bartus
  6. So, you're saying that without the internet, we wouldn't be able to use internet applications?!
  7. Thats interesting, I've never had this happend to me. Did you type in "Poll scripts" just like that? Or did you add any other characters in the text field, maybe accidently?
  8. Yes, you are absolutely right. There are more graceful ways of doing this, but, as I mentioned, this was intended for people who are relatively new to CSS. I've used this technique a few times, but, for the reasons you mentioned, I've gotten away from it recently. For people who are simply looking for easy things to plug into their website (and I've noticed a few around here), its not a bad way to start using rounded corners, since it takes only a few lines of CSS and HTML. Most non-image based rounded corner techniques are more in-depth, and maybe a little intimidating to a beginner. Unless there is a very simple way that I don't know about (probably...)?
  9. This is very good advice and I will use it in the future!!Very informative.
  10. I'm downloading a private server atm, and I've played tons of rs private servers. Rs ones are crap since you can't download rs. Wow ones are much better since you can copy and paste code from wow.
  11. I found this site about a month ago, and I've found it very userful. Basically, its an open source web application that allows you to convert a flash video (like the ones on YouTube) to MPEG4 online and download it. There is also a downloadable application that does the same thing. Its in its beta stage, and can be pretty slow from time to time, but its definitely very useful. Also, if you want to Rick Roll somebody on your iPod, this is how you're going to do it. Here is the offical description from the website: ---------- " This service allows you convert a Flash Video / FLV file (YouTube's videos, etc) to MPEG4 (AVI/MOV/MP4/MP3/3GP) file online. It is using a compressed domain transcoder technology ... . It converts FLV to MPEG4 faster and less lossy than a typical transcoder. When you submit a URL, it will download and convert to the video format, and then you can download the converted file. FLV to MPEG4 Conveter engine is now OpenSource. You can download the source code via subversion: [url="http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ ---------- http://applian.com/windows/?utm_source=vixy.net&utm_medium=redirect
  12. It seems that a lot of people on these forums are farily new to creating websites, so I thought I'd pass this link along, since I think many people will find it very useful. Its a entry from someone's blog that covers the most useful, or coolest, or most popular CSS techniques being used right now. It covers things like rounded corners, image wrapping, creating shadows and transparency. Each entry has links to step-by-step tutorials with how to implement the technique. From the site: http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ (Part 2 is linked from here)
  13. Rounded corners are a pretty hot topic in web design. It seems that almost every page has them. I guess people are trying to go with that "Web 2.0" look. But do you know how to make them? I thought I'd share this site I found recently: given the color of the box you want, and the background of your site, it automatically generates the corner images, CSS and HTML code you need to get those cool rounded corners into your site. From the site: http://wigflip.com/cornershop/. It works very well, check it out.
  14. Hey, good job. This is a very good introductory tutorial to AJAX. I have a couple sites bookmarked that I used to get into AJAX. I thought I'd post them here, since I found them very useful, and I think it helps to have a few sources when you're trying to learn something new. http://www.xul.fr/en-xml-ajax.html and http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/

  19. AntiVirus What Is The Best Anti-virus For people looking for tight security, I recommend the new NIS (Norton Internet Security) 2008. I have tested it myself, and so far it hasn't failed. It is able to remove viruses that bitdefender is not, and out performs basicly all the competition (Panda beats it only once, and by 0.8 points). The firewall included is easily the most powerful of the bunch, recently an expert tested it, and, unlike the rest of the competition, he just COULD NOT get past it. 2008 is also, on average, 30% faster than previous versions. -Matt

  25. If you want to create a website but don't want to learn any programming, you're best bet is to use a CMS like Wordpress or Movable Type. I'd recommend Wordpress, if only because its much easier to install. All you need to do is set up a MySQL database, which you can do with a few clicks using the admin panels with most free hosting sites. There is an admin panel with Wordpress that lets you type in the content of a page or post, and it does all of the work for you. You can also download themes to change the site site design, without needing to know any programming. Of course, if you learn some PHP, you'll be able to do a lot more, but its not necessary.
