I use Norton Antivirus. It is a horrible resource drainer, but I must say that it works to my standards. It cataches all of the viruses on my computer that I know of.

Why it is cool? Because Adobe now bought out Macromedia. Can you imagine a photo editing program, combined with a web desiginer, and maybe with a flash creation program all in one package?Macromedia is extremely popular with web design, and the sorts. It is commonly used with anyone who does Web Design. I currently use it, and I like it much better then FrontPage.

My internet browser I currently use is Mozilla Firefox.I remember the beta of Firefox, it was named Firebird. I have always used it since then. It tends to be a great browser, because it can do tabbed browsing, and has great security features. It tends to not have ActiveX, which is good because ActiveX has a lot of security bugs. It is a clean layout, and seems like an efficient browser for my every day needs.

Adobe Photoshop is definately worth the money. Its a great program to work with for images. It requires some skill, but after learning how to work the program, it all pays off.I would recommend to download the trial off of Adobe's website, give it a hands on experience, and then choose if Adobe Phostoshop is the right program for you.

Yahoo Is Better Than Google!?!? What is up with that?
Odyssey replied to hansley's topic in Search Engines
This topic isnt really getting anywhere... But...I believe that Google is better then yahoo. Look at all of the advanced features that Google offers then Yahoo, like 2.5 gigs of email storage, and counting, its nice that a company like google offers these types of services. Also the ads are non intrusive, which is extremely nice, considering some of them can be annoying after a while. -
Adsense Tool Preview the types of ads that will be displayed
Odyssey replied to dodgerblue's topic in Search Engines
intereting feature..Its nice that Google allows you to not see unintruding ads on websites, because some popups, popunders, can get extremely annoying. -
You know that theres manual tweaks that you can do to Firefox which I have done, read it somwehere else, that you go to about:config and you have advanced features that you can edit.

I use msn messenger. I like it and all, except from the ads it places, and also the tabs on the side of the msn main window, but that was easily fixed by using a patch. I think to gain the popularity they should make a watered down version of msn messenger, but different from windows messenger that comes with windows xp. These ads, emoticons, etc.. tend to get annoying after a while, its a major drain on system resources. The small compaines that are offering instant messenging service, it is going to be a battle with the big companies some day.

I wouldnt recommend having two operating systems on the same hard drive, just in case it causes conflicts. If you have it on two different hard drives, then it should be okay. I had my hard drive screw up its partitions before by having windows and linux on the same hard drive, mainly because linux likes to use partitions.

I currently use Gmail as my email system, but I will take a look at this site. Seems to good to be true

Google states that indexing could take some time... If you can get your site on a site that google curently indexes, then the process would go faster

I would guess that Gmail is a whole lote better then Yahoo. Mainly because Gmail offers 2.5 gigs of storage so far. Also, it doesnt have any pesky ads like how Yahoo does. I would choose Google over any company

Warning: Virus Spreading Through Msn Messenger any info?
Odyssey replied to choetry's topic in Security issues & Exploits
for the future, I would be extremely careful who sends EXE files over msn. They can go a huge amount of damage if you dont know what that EXE is. So far, I never have a virus over MSN. Good thing I have an antivirus for these types of situations -
I currently use iTunes for PC, and currently like it. Main thing why I like it is because I can share my music through out my house with anyone else who uses iTunes. Also like it because its not a huge resource hog, unlike Windows Media Player

Interesting problem that you have encountered. I never had that problem to date so far yet. But I always have a backups of my bookmarks just incase of anything.

If you have simple file sharing enabled, that might cause a bit of a problem also. To turn of simple file sharing, go into an explorer window, choose Tools. Folder Options. Go to the views tab, and scroll to the bottom and uncheck Use Simple File Sharing. Let me know if that works.

What I thought about Longhorn was good, but until I came across this thread, it kind of made me think twice of Longhorn. If they are really going to all that trouble to prevent people from copying cd's, then I will stay with my reliable Windows XP Pro. The only idea that sounded interesting was the WinFS file system that Longhorn was going to include.

What Operating System Is The Best Games Base ? A little Quizzy...
Odyssey replied to MacFly's topic in Operating Systems
I would say that Windows XP Pro is the best for playing games, because so far I have had no problem whats so ever with Windows XP. It seems to be reliable when playing games, and rarely crashes while playing games. -
Even though Linux is a extremely secure Operating system, I would choose Windows. Considering most applications are made for Windows, I think Windows would be more of an ideal Operating System. If they came out with more games for Linux, then I would definitly go with Linux.

I personally dont like the Service pack firewall, because to add each program, you have to manually add the port numbers. Only some programs auto detect with the firewall to unblock. I currently use Norton Firewall, but as the previous posts said, it is a resource hog. I am thinking about switching to anohter antivirus and firewall, because Norton drains my resources severly.

I would prefer Mozilla Firefox over Opera any day, because for Opera to get the ad free version, you have to pay. Think about it, who would want to pay to use an Internet Browser? Also, Mozilla Firefox looks so much better than Opera. I expecially like the Tabbed Browsing in Firefox, and also the Bookmarks menu. I currently use Firefox, and I must say that I enjoying using Firefox!

For adware, spyware, etc.. Norton Antivirus usually picks it up, but I also run Lavasoft Ad Aware to see if I have any additional spyware that Norton didnt find. I would recommend Ad Aware

I think that the best cd burner application is Nero, because I have always used Nero, and it has more extra features like over burn that Roxio does not have. I have tried Roxio before, and I didnt find it to be a good product. Nero wins my favourite burning program

I currently use Mozilla Firefox for a internet browser, because Mozilla is a secure browser, and it doesnt have so much of a security risk like how Internet Explorer does, because it doesnt use ActiveX
