  1. Dude, you're funny. Since when something has to be old to be great? We must really have different sources. http://www.aol.com// 1 Sydney Opera House 2 Eiffel Tower 3 Burj Al Arab Hotel, Dubai 4 Statue of Christ the Redeemer, Rio de Janeiro 5 Golden Gate Bridge, San Francisco 6 Empire State Building, New York City 7 Channel Tunnel http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ 1 Sydney Opera House 2 Eiffel Tower 3 Burj Al Arab Hotel, Dubai 4 Statue of Christ the Redeemer, Rio de Janeiro 5 Golden Gate Bridge, San Francisco 6 Empire State Building, New York City 7 Channel Tunnel http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ same. P. S. And I really don't care about a bunch of stones making part of an old city that has never even been used compared to the most amazing building on the face Earth today.
  2. Hmm... same problem, guys. i did not forget my password, I am entering it correctly and getting an error screen. What the hell???
  3. Dude, Pyramids are already one of the wonders. lol.
  4. Hmm... I was pretty sure, hotel al Arab in Dubai was among them, not the Incan ruins.
  5. Watermonkey, you make 0 (Z-E-R-O) sense. Learn your physics, man. A bullet fired inside an airplane may sure kill a terrorist, but it will most certainly hit the window, roof, or side of an airplane, causing decompression, rapid change of pressure and temperature, in which (if the plane is high enough) every single person is going to die as their organs are going to explode from that big of a sudden change - it's like leaving a submarine while 100 meters under sea level with no protection. Also passengers sit rather closely, and, if someone is threatened, a panic will raise, thus making it virtually impossible to shoot the terrorist without hitting anyone else (or the bullet could rickoshet from any metallic surface inside and accidentally kill someone. Now, what are you going to do if there is more than one terrorist?)Oh, and don't forget usual turbulance you meet while flying from East to West in Northern Hemisphere, which is going to make your arm shake even more. You just "proved" with zero reasoning that 9/11 was planned and executed by the U. S. government. Now, my next question - what on Earth could ever motivate them to do that? You make no sense.
  6. That makes 0 sense. A cup-shaped steel "roof" will still emit radiation to some extent. Plus most of Uranium (about 182 tons) is burien underground in a huge cement sarcofague. Half-life decay time for Uranium is 22000 years. Do you seriously think that any man-made building could stand that long? Plus by that time there probably will be at least one nuclear war, which makes no difference, if radiation is coming from the bomb remains, or a lot of radioactive materials (Plutonium, Cesium, Uranium) buried under the ground.Plus if they are willing to build that cover - it should also go pretty deep under the ground, as that is also being affected by excessive amounts of radiation.
  7. Absolutely so. I have no clue as to how it works for laptops, but I have experienced it with my cell phone, since then I only charge it when the battery is only dead, and it seems to "hold" more energy for longger time.
  8. Thanks... that's the first thing I thought about it, but the thing is that in Frisbee you cannot call breaks that often. Only at halftimes, which are usually an hour into the game:(
  9. Oh, indeed, I think, we all heard that in the tennis team player topic, there's no need to repeat:) As for him... I'd really not call it love. that's really not how guys in love act. He's more like a fisherman that is throwing a net and wandering if he can catch something. Sure, you could be best driends forever, and all that stuff, but I highly doubt that anything more than that is goingto happen between you two with that attitude. Either that ,or he is very shy to start talking about his feelings (which is also not a good thing), and express them. In the latter case if you want to build a relationship with him - spend more time with him to make him more comfortable being around you.
  10. That's totally going into the existentionalism - I live, I know, that there has to be some meaning for me ahead, but I have no clue as to what it is. The meaning is unique to everybody. Or there is no meaning at all. In the latter case why don't we all just commit suicide right now? I mean, we will all die anyways, what's the point of pulling the time back? If you are able to answer that question for yourself - that also answers as to what is the meaning of life for yourself. Or you cold go to Calvinism (being atheist I prefer an example before, but I'm fine with people taking either side) and say that we are all predestined to do something, that god has all our faith lines drawn even before our birth, and all we do during our life is just approaching the final goal, and when we get there we get to a *better place* (well, or simply into an elongated wooden box 4 feet under the ground:-)) P. S. Does anyone know REALLY unanswerable questions?
  11. Haha. Thanks. I was just discussing this with my friend as to how they come up with these weird dresses in magna movies. Well, I was wrong anyways:) Thanks for an interesting text.
  12. That sounds fine, but I feel like it is going to be extremely expensive, at least - at first. Plus jewerly seems to have a very bad property - it is sometimes stolen:) You as a parent sitting in PA might be possibly wandering, what the hell is your son doing in Nevada:) As for the self-torturing - this is happening anyways, many people sthink that it's a good tone to burn themselves alive in a huge crowd to show their protest. But, a question arises, WHO ON EARTH IS GOING TO CARE THAT YOU DIED EXCEPT THOSE SEVERAL FRIENDS AND FAMILY MEMBERS TO WHOM YOU ONLY HARMED BY YOUR ACTIONS??? Yeah, people are going to watch the fascinating view of a burning instinctively running person, who probably starts to realize in the back of his mind somewhere by that time that it was not that necessary to burn himself and accomplish nothing, but afterwards the police will just take the body away and everyone will just walk away taking no action. On the othwer hand, when you have 130 hostages on a plane and a 110 story building that also contains several thousands, and you run that plane into it (9/11), clearly, you will get all the attention of the media in the world possible and thus make your case heard - this is indeed a "better" way to make yourself heard, but once again... is it really worth your life and the life of those around you that have done no harm to you in their entire life?
  13. Err.. Did you seriously just call the feeling that a guy offered you a hug love? I am sorry, but that's justnot right. At least for me. I don't think, it's possible to fall in love and not even know about it, not even mentioning about being so intimidated about taking pictures, or playing ping pong. My only suggestion - go out with him a couple of times, you might make a good couple, if you will really start enjoying being around with him and get a sick feeling when he is not there for some reason - yo should really consider a more complicated relationship. ^^^That's a horrible generalization, I know. When you encounter your real love - not just attraction - you will figure it out for yourself. Is it love, or is it not? Trust me, the only person that can fully answer that question are you. Best wishes.
  14. Well... As I can see, the discussion in here can be linked to the ACT PATRIOT - personal safety vs. privacy. What would you like? That somebody always knows where you are, and what you are doing, what are yo reading, watching, to whom are you writing e-mails, etc., or 3000 innocent people die because of some extrimist that really thinks that this mass destruction is going to help move his ideas forward? I personally have difficulty answering this question myself. I really want to quote: "Give me my liberty, or give me death!" but on the other hand... is it really worth it? I am probably being monitored right now being an alien in the US, some person in FBI national security office is probably reading this message right now and laughing. But on the other hand - that's done only for my own safety and safety of tons of other people. P. S. Hi, FBI agent P. P. S. As for celebs - I don't care. The "Star Desease" had to be cured somehow some time anyway. As for the hackers... Yes, I really did not think of that.
  15. Even if it was there (in which a lot of people doubt) there is a low probability that it's till there - any of hundreads of asteroids that bombard the surface daily probably knocked it dead anyways. Or it was burnt in the radiation of the solar wind. Or aliens took it. You never know:)
  16. I had to make a paper about it in my Health class last semester, and I actually remember some stuff from it (which is surprising). here's a summary:Causes: To "bump" heavy pieces of food that are stuck in esophagus by "shaking" them. It can also be caused by overeating, or overdrinking (doesn't really matter, tha cause is the same - enlongation of your stomack)Mechanics: an enlongated stomack activates a nerve that recieves an electrical impulse from the brain and your diafragm thus shrinks rapidly and creates a "bump" that you feel. With that bump the volume inside you changes rapidly also, thus you exhale and inhale during the hiccup - and make the weird soundReasons: To protect the food from being kept in esophagus for too long by blocking access to all the rest of the food and thus make you starve to death in the endHow to prevent: Don't eat a lot during one meal, eat a little, but more frequently. Same with water, or any other liquid (Consider MASS instead of the volume - mass is the thing that pulls the stomack down)How to stop: Well... a bad idea would be to become anaeroxic and just throw out. A better way to do that is to start breathing very slowly, or use a plastic bag to inhale and exhale rapidly. Usually that helps in several minutes, but sometimes there are those weird cases - like a girl that was hiccuping for five weeks in a row without stopping - then she was prescribed special pills, etcetera. Usually it just goes away on its own once a portion of "heavy" food is digested - so - try to stimulate the production of your stomack acid (actually, HCl) by thinking about something very tasty that you enjoh eating, even if you are not hungry.Hope, that helps.
  17. Okay...1. It's kinda violent:)2. I assume, the fan is spinning, thus you shouldn't be able to see the actual blades that well.Other than than - great drawing skills, all I can say. Though, try adding some of your thoughts (current events?) into it, it would be more interesting to an outside viewer.
  18. Absolutely. I'd never go out with a girl who is virtually cheating on her boyfriend and is even gossiping around it to her friends. Don't you think that you are just a toy in her mind? She'll play with you, chit-chat with her friends, and then find a new toy once she gets bored and start talking to him as to how much better he is rather than the one before (you). And then - next, next, next, etc. ^^^ Just IMHO. I might be wrong as well as anyone on this planet - so listen to all of the opinions, and then do as your heart tells you. Best wishes.
  19. Thanks. I also run on my own dor 20-30 minutes every day, unfortunately, I don't have time for much more. As for the work comes - I am a dishwasher at a local restaurant, which means that I carry heacy loads of dishes all the day long in pretty extreme envioronment - a lot of people running around, codl dining room (with air conditioning) that interhanges with high temperatures of air around the dishwasher itself. I feel like after 2 months of work there mthe muscles that I usually don't use in games (mostly back) are getting much stronger, but I really don't think the job raises my endurance level. I'll check out the programs once I am done with college applications, which seem to never end,
  20. Hello. I'd like to share an idea I got when coming from work in a bus and getting lost by choosing a wrong one.Nowadays you often hear in the news that more and more people (unfortunately, usually - children) are being lost (or kidnapped). So, the idea is to install a small device into human body. The device will be sending radiosignals periodically to the satellite, which can thus trace the location from which it was sent. Of course, it will need charging periodically - that's why it should have a small solar battery on it (s it does not require much energy to operate). The device should be installed in a place on human body that gets alot of solar light, but also somewhere where it is invisible (for the sake of beauty and protection). The organ that gets and collects most of the light is a human eye. I suppose, with modern technology it will not be a big problem to install a microscopical device in there. Now, as the sattelite gets the signal, it has to send it somewhere. IMHO there should be 2 "keys": 1 will be given to any police officer, that can type in the unique combination that corresponds to the ID number of the person's device to ge the information about their location. The other one should be given only to the parents of the person that can potentially be "lost" (which is everyone). They can only view their childs' location, unlike the police. It should be mandatory that the parents have to keep the "key" up till their child is 18 (an age at which we become more or less ready for real life, can fight for ourselves, and don't have stupid ideas like running away from home, as you will probably be paying for your own at that time). After 18 the child could ask the parents the key back to destroy it, or give to someone else he wishes to (fiancee? wife? boss? brother? sister?). Thus the advantages:- A lot of protection from kidnapping- More safety and thus freedomNow, the bad parts:- Surgery (probably should be done at the time of birth, when senses are not that mature)- Cost for project development- Cost of the sattelite launch and programming- Cost of materials Any ideas? This could really save a lot of lives...
  21. Most sports require not only physical strength, but also a lot of endurance - being able to apply your strength for a long time without gettimg very tired - like running for a long distance, or something like that. As for me - I am a quick runner, but I can't keep the phase for more than 2 minutes, after that I get very tired. If I run at a moderate speed - I could hold it for 0.7-1 hours, but yet, I need more. Is there any special method as to how to raise body endurance?
  22. Life is too short to be pretending to be someone that I am actually not. Just I realize that when I go to college - and after - I will clearly not have such opportunities and liberties that I have now, thus I use them to full extent. Some people don't realize that, Or realize, but can't force themselves to step over the invisible barrier to be a leader in almost any situation. But that's a good thing, the world structure needs that there would be more followers than leaders, otherwise it would turn out into total anarchy. To me movies are no good at all as for discussion - many people in the topic adviced action movies - like the transformers - I'm sure that if I was watching it with my friend - we would not be discussing world issues, etc. that would make me know her better, but rather the abilities of different machines. That's why I prefer discussing boks and activities that each of us selects for ourselves, as it makes more sense to discuss what you actually like, and not a thing that you are bored to death to watch and just sit in the theatre because a person you care about sits nearby. Now, of course I am not (that much of a) nerd to go to the park with my friends to read a book. Books are totally fine when you are on your own and have time to think over the style, etc., to find out what the author was meaning and thinking of when he was writing the book. Though, in my opinion, a best way to actually know a person you are interested in is to know what they are thinking of, and the only key to that is a dialogue. I really don't see a point in going to the movies, saying hi, staring on the screen for 2.5 hrs, saying good-bye after 30 minutes of speaking as to how awesome the transformation of a machine into a bot and back was effectswise. To me it's just waste of time and money.
  23. Oh. Well. That was pretty easy:) Sorry, guys, I think, I figured out, what I was doing wrong.
  24. IMHO Dan Brown is really overadvertised author that gets much more credits for hos books than he earned. Especially, for the Da Vinci Code. Yes, he is a good author with inetresting plots, but I've seen better, that are really not that famous. I don't think he deserves all that fame, after reading 3-4 of his books you kinda get his system and predic what is going to happen next. That's what I don't like in him.
  25. Thath's my essay's rough draft... I really can't think of the conclusion. Any advice on that, or just overall?
