  1. Thanks for sharing this. We often get so caught up in our own lives and delema's that we forget about the important things in life. I always like the saying about how a fellow was feeling sorry for himself because he had no shoes, then he saw a man who had no legs begging on the street. I suppose people who have never miss a meal in their lives may not truely understand what it is like go go hungry. Or homeless. I suppose there is some good that comes from everything. If you have ever experienced hunger or homelessness, you are not so likely to forget it.
  2. High school should be the best time of your life. Your young, healthy, full of insperation, hope and all of your dreams are ahead of you. You are not burdened with reality, making a living, raising a family, getting threw this tough old world. Your parents are still maintaining you with meals and a roof over your head, no need to have to get a job and all those day to day worries about bill paying. If you are a reasonably intelligent person, the work load of education is not all that overbearing. Of couse, as one poster allready mentioned, if you are in the upper intelligence level, it can be boring. However, there is no real excuse to be borred, there are always ways to go above and beyond the teachers requirnments for lessons that you can employ to show off your smarts if your so inclined. Even if you have to hit the books a little harder than your friends, don't despair. Find ways to make that extra studying easier, and more fun. Study with friends, change locations of study groups, you don't have to just study in the library, get together at different kids homes, or have a nice day, study outside in a park, and who'd to say you can't get a bit of leaning in at the local mall, they have food courts where you can get a snack, and still study with friends. Main thing is, don't give up. Don't be a quitter. Quitting school sets a bad presidence in your life, that you can't see things threw, that you don't have what it takes. That your a wimp. School is not that difficult. Hang in there, enjoy it, because things just go downhill from there
  3. When I started my web site, I knew right off I did not want to use a template. I didn't want a cookie cutter web site, I wanted one that was as unique and would stand out from the crowd. And there really were no templates that fit what I wanted to do. So, I just bit the bullet and did my own. I used Front Page, and I will tell you that without a doubt, it was the most complicated program I have ever seen. Even with Video Proffesors CD and Front Page for Dummies, it was still a major pain. It was no easy feat, and it took forever, and it took an excessive amount of swear words. Honestly, I'm still not really good with it. I have a problem getting things where I want them, and getting good balance on the page. But really, bad as I hated doing it, it really is the best way to go.
  4. Congradulations! Very cute pup. Cavalier King Charles Spaniels are good natured, gentle dogs, I'm sure he will make a great family pet for you. Remember to use positive reinforcment training methods, nothing harsh, these dogs are pretty sensitive. Hopefully you've had him vet checked, heart murmors and bad patella's are very common in this breed. Also, don't forget to check his ears and clean them as needed. Some Spaniels have a pretty fair amount of hair that grows in the ear canal, make sure it is kept clean and dry.
  5. I could be wrong, but I don't think the amount of time you sleep has anything to do with your dreaming. You only dream in certain sleep states, and everyone dreams most nights, it's just that most of us don't remember. Now there is a way to remember your dreams if you want to do that. I actually tried it and it worked, however, my dreams are pretty weird too, so after awhile I found I was driving myself crazy worrying about what all these dreams meant that I could now remember, so I had to force myself to stop remembering my dreams.
  6. Boy, you hit the nail on the head for sure! We wouldn't be malnourished, we'd be starved completly to death! It amazes me how people dwell on every silly little detail of celebreties lives, and I would be willing to be the vast majority of people don't even know the name of their congressman or representitive that makes the rules for which we have to live by. These celebraties don't mean squat to us in real life. They have no bearing on anything that truely effects us, they are just there for our entertainment, yet everyone seems so deeply concerned about their lives, (the celebs lives) than they are their own lives. It's pretty pathetic if you ask me.
  7. Well, here is what we do in the good old USA.First off, the government sets aside gazillions of dollars to study the tiger situation. They pay for numerous reasearch groups to study life cycles, climate change, habitat availablity, disease problems, tiger reproduction, parasites that plague tigers, preditor problems that effect tigers, food resourses available to feed the tigers, and probably a few dozen others, then they put tigers on the endangered species list, and then, if all the tigers have not died out while congress was screwing around, next thing you know, they are rebounding as a species, killing people again, and have to be removed from the endangered species list so people can once again start to harvest them to keep them from killing us. Don't ya just love government intervention?
  8. That is actually good, sound advice. You are absolutly right, if helping people was easy everybody would do it. It's a good way to look at it. All I know is that I am the one who has to live with myself. I will continue to try to help people irreguardless of karma or anything else. It's just the right thing to do. If there is a heaven, I figure God is keeping score for me, and I will be the one who has to answer to what I did with my time here on earth. (wether there is a heaven or not is an entirly different debate, but for me, I'm not taking any chances that there is! )
  9. I certainly hope it is not true! Our constitution and bill of rights is what makes this country great. We have certain rights that cannot be infringed upon. I may not of said that just right, sorry for the confusion. If you go to school in Missouri they teach you the Missouri constitution, if you live in California, they would teach the California constitution. Just what ever state you were in would you need to study the constitution for. I suspect the state constitutions are all pretty simular, so if you had the basics for one you would at least have a clue as to the others. Now, that makes me curious about something else, I wonder how much difference there is in the constitutions from state to state? The only difference I could think of right off the top of my head might be differences in gun laws.
  10. I heard recently that the school system no longer requires the United States Constitution and the state constitution of what ever state you are in to be a requirnment in school. Back when I was in school you had to take the constitution or you could not graduate. Is this true????? Granted, I certainly hated the class when I had to take it, thought it was extremely dull, but as they say, hind site is 20/20 and now I realize the importance of knowing our constitutional rights. What with the politicians walking all over them today with a hellbent desire to restrict every thing in our lives, I find it extremely frightening that they would no longer teach our young people what our freedom and rights are supposed to be. How can you stand up for your rights if you don't know what they are?
  11. Silly me, I hadn't even noticed the edit button was gone! But that is a bummer, I do use it occasionally to edit bad spelling and or grammer after I make a post sometimes. My spelling leaves a lot to be desired. The only real problem I have here is I suppose, related to the generation gap and general lifestyle between myself and the vast majority of the posters here. It is really hard for me to reply to so many of the posts, when you guys get to talking about computer stuff most of the time I don't even know what you are talking about. But the free web hosting is great, so I do my best to tough it out and reply to what I can and also I try to start topics that I think might be of interest from information I hear on TV that I think is newsworthy. It isn't easy. I wish we had a few more dog breeders or goat farmers here. I keep hoping we will get a few.
  12. While I am certainly not good at math, I really am not getting how this would be a "green" improvement. Where does plastic come from? We know paper is made from trees, and is a renewable recourse. Ink can come from soy beans, which in my humble opinion is an excellent way to use them, they certainly aren't fit to eat. And when you print something you generally want to keep it as a permanent record, so why would you be erasing it to copy over? When the plastic sheet was done with what would become of it? Plastic does not biodegrade like paper does. I hope this doesn't end up like those stupid energy saving light bulbs they came out with awhile back that were supposed to be so good for the environment that used TOXIC mercury in them. Which is more of a serious health threat and a danger to the environment than what we were using.
  13. Well, it certainly wouldn't surprise me if they did. Though most likely they would just tap into whatever you used to connect to the internet and read it that way, or as someone else sugested, just break into your home on some trumped up charge and steal your computer. They allready have camera's on every street corner and in every shop, satalites in the sky that can spy on you when you are sun bathing naked in your back yard, and I'm sure could count exactly how many piles of doggie poo there are in my dog pens, they have computers in our cars that at the drop of a hat they could shut you down where ever you are and lock you out of your car. They probably put evedropping equipment in our Televisions too. And lets not forget our cell phones, they know not only who you call but exactly where you are and wether or not you have combed your hair before you make the call. And, sadly, with all this they still cannot stop crime, people get robbed and mugged and ripped off in more suttle ways every single day and the perps never get caught.
  14. That is an excellent question. And I'm sure that most of the donations are actually going to what they are supposed to be used for. However, in every event like this there are going to be con artists who will take advantage of the kind hearted people who want to help. In the case of Haiti, one big rip off has already been nipped in the bud. The Humane Society of the United States was solisiting for funds for Haiti dogs when it was pointed out to them that there were no dogs in Haiti that needed rescued, they had already been eaten by starving Haitians. Have to wonder how many $$$ they conned people out of before they got caught though.
  15. I find it rather sad that something that is so sacred is more and more becoming just something else to twist to fit our twisted logic and morals. Marriage is the basis for our society and the strength of our communities and our country. Marriage and raising children in a safe and balanced and secure home should be the pillars of our strength.
  16. Wow, a question I can actually respond to with some authority! Chihuahua's can pretty easily become a one man/woman dog. They are quite likely to attatch themselves to one family member and ignore everyone else. This can be overcome if the dog is purchased as a puppy and it is given attention by all members of the immediate family, and the family also encourages visitors to play with the dog too. Getting the puppy out in the public will also help, taking it in to dog friendly stores, (most pet stores allow you to bring pets in now a days) and any social gatherings, dog parks, swap meets, etc where dogs are welcome should be frequented with your new pup. As far as being yappy, yes, they can be. But this is also a learned behaviour and can at least to a point be modified by early training. There are a lot of ways to discourage nusance barking. I tell my puppy customers that they need to read SEVERAL dog training books. There are about as many theories to dog training as there are dog trainers. What may work wonders for one dog will have no effect on another, so it is important to read more than one book on training.
  17. Well, you bring up and excellent topic. I have always tried to help people out when they needed it and asked for it, but honestly, the older I get the more I start believing the saying, "No good deed goes unpunished." I really do believe in Karma, and doing unto others as you would have them do unto you, however, it always seems to back fire on me. Just about everybody I have ever tried to help has ended up stabing me in the back or taking advantage of me or just ended up not being worth helping and making me regret that I even tried. Gets pretty aggrivating sometimes. Makes me wonder why I bother. But for some silly reason I keep on trying to be good to people. Am I crazy or what?
  18. Well, I was trying to figure out how on earth qwerty could be an easy to guess and commonly used password and was just going to ask how anybody could come up with that one, then I looked at my keyboard. Duh. Now it makes sense. But I guess I'm a little better, I don't use any of those passwords. I try to make my passwords complicated, but then unless I write them down I will never remember all of them, so if somebody actually got my list I'd be in trouble, but at least it's not on my computer, and they would have to get threw me, my dogs and my 357 to get my list
  19. There is a big difference in coyotes and dog crosses and sheep and human. Coyotes and dogs are both memebers of the same species, canine, but humans and sheep are not even remotely simular. There are plenty of coydogs out there, the cross is quite common, and so are wolf hybreds. They are close enough in genetic make up that even the offspring will be fertile. And while horses and donkeys are simular enough to breed together and produce offspring, (mules) those mules are nearly always sterile. (1 in 10,000 will be fertile) Goats and sheep will also breed however, in most cases the resulting fetuses will be aborted before coming to full term.
  20. The HSUS (Humane Society of the United States) has started a petition to seriously impact the breeding of dogs in the state of Missouri. They are trying to wrap it all up in a cutesy package of ending dog abuse, and pulling the wool over the general publics eyes in their usual package of lies and misconceptions. Please don?t let emotional issues cloud your sense of judgment if you are approached by someone to sign this petition. While it may be presented as a package to save the poor little doggies, it is in fact, a serious threat to the states economy, and not only that, it is also a huge threat to our constitutional privileges, and the freedoms we enjoy in this country in that it limits what a person may own. Dogs are still considered personal property, and this proposed law sets limits on the amount of personal property you will be allowed to have. Not only does it limit the number of dogs you may own, it also strictly limits what you are allowed to do with your property. The proposed laws have no basis in scientific evidence as to the breeding frequency of dogs, nor does it allow for any variations in the different breeds, all dogs must be treated in the same conditions, and anyone who knows the first thing about dogs knows you cannot treat a Siberian Husky the same way you treat a Chihuahua. The new proposed regulations also call for heating and air conditioning of the dogs area. Fine, but this basically makes it illegal to keep a dog outside! I think it would be criminal to keep a dog confined to a building and not allow them the freedom to run and play outside. Missouri already has the strictest set of regulations for the breeding of dogs in any state of the union. The industry is regulated extensively and thoroughly with frequent inspections and a long list of requirements for the care of our dogs. With today?s economy already in the tank, this proposed law will make a huge impact on the quality of life for HUMANS in the state of Missouri. Kennels will not be able to run under the proposed law. The loss of jobs will effect many people in the state, not just the kennel owners, but their employees too. The raising of pups in this state is a multi million dollar business. So you don?t raise dogs so it isn?t going to effect you, you say? Well, think again. I can?t begin to count the number of pups that I have had customers drive all the way here from many surrounding states. These people don?t just buy a puppy from me while they are here. They by gas for their vehicles on their trip, they stay in hotels, eat in restaurants and frequent other business on their trips. People often combine their puppy buying trip as a mini vacation, visiting state attractions like Branson and Silver Dollar City, and Bass Pro shop in Springfield. A great many people are affected by the sale of just one pup, just like throwing a pebble in a still pond, the ripples go on and on and on. Kennel owners themselves are big time consumers. It takes a lot of ?stuff? to run a kennel. Maintenance of pens and buildings, right down to paper towels and bleach. I probably need not even mention the obvious like dog food and veterinarian expenses. I?m sure in tiny towns like Caulfield Mo, one of the biggest employers in the area is a dog breed registry that hires local folks for their registry service. Jobs in rural areas are tough to find, and a big part of the local economy. These jobs too will be affected by this proposed law. Work as a journalist? All those puppy for sale ads in your local paper help pay your wages too. So PLEASE, if you see people whining and crying for you to sign up to help stop abuse of dogs, don?t be fooled, it has nothing to do with animal abuse, but human abuse. The abuse of your personal freedoms and the right to own property and the rights to make an honest living.
  21. Gads, I can't even imagine the patience it would of taken to make those! Cutting all those bits of pencils, and sharpening them and glueing them all together, it would almost be as painstaking as carving in solid stone! They are pretty neat.Got to see a lot of art statues at the swap meets on our vacation, I love those welded ones made from odd metal parts, and made into some sort of creature. Saw a dinosaur this time that was really neat. Amazing how creative some people can be.

    Freedom?

Yea, right. Just a little deal. Just a little dab of freedom of choise. Nothing to worry about. They won't come back next year and make it tougher, strounger or more inclusive. Dream on. See, this is the problem I'm talking about. They start with little things and then they mushroom into a huge deal that takes away our rights. Don't kid yourself this is not a big deal. Think about this one. What is an Elephant????? It is a mouse built to government specifications!!! I sure wish you would get your wish, but your in big trouble on these. Our dear congress is going to pass that stupid health care bill one way or the other and we will all be forced to get and pay for health insurance. And remember what happened when the government forced us to get car insurance??? Insurance rates took a sudden and very large jump, since the now had the government forcing it down our throats. Funny thing, (not) for quite awhile we even had to continue paying for uninsured moterists on our premieums, when in fact or theory, there were no longer any uninsured motorists, but the government let the insurance companies get away with that one. I hate to think what health care insurance will jump to. And yes, if you don't pay your property taxes, they can and will take your home right out from under you. In this screwed up country, no matter how hard you work, the government take take away everything you have ever worked for in the blink of an eye.
  23. Glad to see a law forum at Xisto. This could be very useful. So for a first question. If you know, or have been told a law (state) exists, how do you find it to read about it if you don't know the name or number of the law? Especially without the use of Lexus Nexus and it's $50,000 a year price tag is there a way to search for a law? Lord knows there are far too many pages of laws and regulations to ever even try to just read threw them. The one I am particularly interested in is one in the state of Missouri that gives farmers the legal right to sell their produce in any public place. I've just heard there is such a law, but would really like to read the details to see exactly how it is worded and what it covers.
  24. LOL! Gee guys, what ever happened to knowing how to cook and being able to field dress and finish cutting up a deer, and scalling and filleting fish???? Those true measures of a womans worth! All this stuff about being "bubbly" and knowing how to look and talk and dress ain't gonna fill your belly.

    Freedom?

I think the next person I hear carrying on about all the wonderful freedoms we have in the United States and how great it is, I'm likely to slap the snot out of them! Was just listening to TV New years day, and they were listing all the stupid laws that will now be going into effect at the first of the year. Some of this stuff is absolutly STUPID!!! It's getting to where you will be arrested if you fart in public. People need to wake up, get their heads of of their rears and start paying attention to what these idiotic congressmen are doing to our country! We can't afford to sit back and lete special interst groups take control of every aspect in our lives. We also need to have a serious attitude change and stop worrying so dang much about running other people's lives. So what if your neighbor doesn't mow his grass till it is 4 inches high and you wish he would do it when it was 3 inches. Don't go running to the government to pass more stupid laws. Get over it. Take care of your own life, live and let live, all that jazz! One of the new laws passed in Arkansas has now outlawed the sale of TOY guns. People, grow a brain! Children have played with toy guns for hundreds of years. But now because some whinney a-- person things it might promote violence they passed a law against it. What a crock!PLEASE help stop this rapidly spiraling downhill trend this country had gotten into. Think before you react to proposed legislation. Try to see the big ppicture. Pay attention to what your congressmen are doing. Don't let the vocal minority ruin the lives of the general population.
