  1. Oh, this might get fun!Evil? Well, ok, probably. Witchy at the very least, allthough in some women, it is a temporary thing, occuring monthly. I've always said it women were allowed to fight in wars they would be a lot more bloodthirsty and cold blooded killing than with the men doing the fighting. While we like to think of females and kind and loving, especially mothers, it is those mothers that can be the most dangerous, especially when the need to protect their offspring arrises. Like a mother bear protecting her cubs. Take for example the woman who's family owned a liquor store. 2 robbers broke in and were in the process of getting the cash from the husband when the son stepped into the room. One of the robbers was startled by his sudden appearance and raised his gun to shoot the son. The mother, who was already in the room grabbed 2 guns and proceded to empty each gun into a different robber, I think she had a 45 in one hand and a 38 in the other. She put 4 or 5 shots in each robber in the space you could cover with a quarter. And the woman had never handled a gun before! When asked about the shooting a police officer on the seen was quoted as saying, "that's mighty fine shooting for anyone wth 2 guns!" All woman Bi???? Not only no but hell no. I don't know who dreamed that one up but they are nuts. I do have a thought on the toenail painting thing though. Maybe it's to add a bit of color or something noticable to bring attention to another level of a womans body, to keep men from only staring at her breasts?????
  2. Ok, I find this statement totally confusing. How can gun control laws be considered good when the banning of guns puts othewise law abiding citizens at risk and unable to defend themselves and their property and their very lives from criminals who don't give a rat's hind end about obeying laws????
  3. Sounds like you have a really bad situation there. If your police force and judicial system is not punishing criminals, and your government has stripped away your right to own a gun to protect yourself, it's no wonder criminals are running rampant. There is no deterent to stop them from commiting crimes.
  4. LOL, Anwiii your such a hoot! Funny, I was thinking the same thing when I couldn't get into face book. I've never signed up for that one, I've heard too many horror stories about getting viruses from it. I'm glad you mentioned it and got Soviet Rathe to post a different link. Soviet Rathe, listen to your doctor and your friends here, take it easy for awhile. Glad your ok, it could of been a lot worse, but don't push your luck.
  5. Oh you bet, I agree completely! It seems every new operating system developes a serious flaw or 2 (or maybe even 3) shortly after release. Wait and see works really good for me too. But 10% already sure seems fast, do you suppose it was due to the many people who hated Vista? I really didn't like XP when it came out. I actually started on computers back in the day of windows 95. I actually like 98 the best so far of all of the 3 I've had so far.

    Blah Blah Blah!

LOL, you just used the dog example to get my attention didn't ya? Actually I wish more people would post dog questions, at least it would make it a lot easier for me to contribute! Then I wouldn't have to worry about replying to the over 1 year old posts. (actually, there are posts on here a lot older than that) but a lot of times I don't really look at the dates. And some of the older posts are still pretty high up on the list and quick and easy to access due to lack of recent postings. Even the 3rd or 4th post down the line can be an ancient one. I think the moderators do a pretty good job, even if they are all male. I don't really understand why we have so many senseless posts, like "what is...." and a one or 2 line post following the subject line. You would think people would realize you can't gain any hosting credits that way. You really need to be long winded and chatty like me! Or a politician, someone who can talk for an hour and not say anthing! I do agree with you, I occasionally make a short post just to be funny, but I try to avoid it, sometimes I just can't help it. And if it is done to make somebody laugh, I would hate to have it considered spam. And the introductions forum is one place that is really hard to make reply too. So many newbies just post hi how are ya, and how can you start a conversation with that? It would be so much nicer if they could say just a little bit about themselves to help get a conversation going. I guess that is why everyone who replys there just brings up the rules, otherwise how could you anser without it being considered spam. "I'm fine, welcome to trap." As for you being blunt, that's a charector flaw in people that I for one, actually appreciate. It takes all the guess work out of knowing where you stand on any particular subject.
  7. Sounds like an intersting sport, it's not something we hear very much about though. I've never even heard of a pigeon race. Homing pigeons used to be used a lot to send messages back and forth. I wouldn't think you would have to be rich to be a pigeon racer though, certainly not in the same mannor that you would if you were into horse or even dog racing. Pigeons don't eat much, inexpensive grains for the most part, and building a pigeon coop can be done with a role of cheap chicken wire and scrap lumber. Not at all like building a barn for a race horse. I am not a great pigeon expert, but some years back I had a few, until the possums got in the barn and killed them. There are a lot of different kinds of them, I liked the rollers and tumblers that would do somersaults on the ground, but didn't fly. There are the bigger pigeons that are raised for eating, and there's even a frizzle pigeon with curly feathers that's kind of pretty.
  8. Ah yes, the favorite of many....spring cleaning. I don't do that one. Have too many other things to do in the Spring. I do my winter cleaning, when it's too nasty to be outside.
  9. Since we are on the noodle subject, anybody every try to make their own homemade noodles? My chickens are laying like crazy, and egg noodles are a great way to use up the extra eggs. They can even be dried after making them and stored for a good long while. All you have to do is break some eggs in a bowl and wisk them up, add a little salt. For a meal or one pot of soup 3 or 4 eggs should be enough for a couple people. Then just start mixing in flour until you have a dry, stiff dough. Keep the flower handy, you want to work as much flour into the dough as you possibly can. Then just roll it out really thin. Keep sprinkling flour on the dough to keep it from sticking. You can then cut it into long strips and as long as you flour well between each layer, stack up several strips (cut the strips the width that you want for the length of the noodle) That way you can cut the noodles up faster and more uniformly. Then just drop them as you seperate them into boiling water, and boil for just a few minutes. Drain and add whatever kind of sauce you would like, or if you have chicken soup cooking, you can drop them directly into the soup, just so long as it is boiling.
  10. I love small towns. That is providing I don?t actually have to live ?in? town, I could never handle that. I want to be out in the country with no close neighbors watching over me, or complaining about the dogs barking. I just want the town to be near by so when I need something it isn?t a major drive to go run errands. There are some distinct advantages to being in a small town where everybody knows you. Having a ?reputation? can be a good thing. If you don?t like people messing with you and you take steps to protect yourself, like shooting at intruders, people get the message really quick to leave you the hell alone. It?s really wonderful. The only down side I can see is when you need to purchase something other than normal weekly supplies, like car or tractor parts or building supplies, it nearly always means a trip to the big city.
  11. Do we have to post tutorials about computers? Believe it or not, there is a life out there away from computers. You never know when you may get unplugged, so how about some practical information for a tutorial?I have watch the tutorial section here longingly ever since I started posting at Trap 17 and always wished I could come up with something fitting. All the tutorials I read here seem to deal with computers, and most of the time I don?t even know what the poster is talking about. Then one day as I was hiding my skillets so my dish washer wouldn?t try to wash them, a great topic occurred to me. Over the years I have had several different part time house keepers, and not one single one of them knew how to clean a cast iron skillet. So I have to assume the general public probably doesn?t know either. One housekeeper in particular stands out in memory. I still laugh every time I think about that crazy woman. I specifically told her, ?Do not wash my cast iron skillets in the sink in soapy dish water.? I walked in on her one day and found her holding the skillet in one hand above the sink, and splashing soapy dish water up in the skillet with her other had. I just about fell over! Now you may ask, why would I want to even bother with those heavy, messy old cast iron skillets when I have my wonderful Teflon coated non stick cookware? Not to mention my plastic bowls and microwave? Well, there is some evidence that cooking in Teflon may be detrimental to your health, where as cooking in cast iron has been show to increase the iron content in foods cooked in them, and iron is an important nutrient in the body. And you never know when the power may fail and you find yourself without power to run the microwave. Who knows, maybe someday you will find yourself enjoying the great outdoors with a cookout at the creek. In which case, your plastic microwave bowls aren?t going to be of much use.To keep your cast iron skillets in tip top non sticking shape, there is one very important thing to remember. NEVER USE SOAP ON THEM! Soap dissolves the oil from the pores of the metal and causes them to stick. This includes any dishwater you have put soap in. I had to argue with one housekeeper who insisted that since the water wasn?t bubbly any more the soap was gone. It is not gone, it?s never gone if you put dish soap in it, the water just gets dirty. If the skillet is dirty or has not been used in awhile, give it a good scrubbing with a metal pot scrubber to remove all rust, stuck on grime or whatever is on it. If it?s just stuck on food, it?s fine to soak it in warm water for awhile before scrubbing. When the metal is smooth and shiny gray again, the skillet is clean and ready to be conditioned. First, get the skillet completely dry. I usually set mine on the stove burner and turn it on just long enough to get the metal warm and let the water evaporate quickly. While the metal of the skillet is still warm pour some oil in the skillet. If you want, just a tiny dab of oil can be used, and you can rub it around with a paper towel to make a thin coat over the entire surface of the skillet, don?t forget to do the sides too. You will of course, want to make sure the skillet is not too hot for you to handle, but the warmer it is the better conditioning you will have. Or you can pour extra oil in it and just roll it around in the skillet until all surfaces are coated. It depends on what you are planning to cook with it the next time, for example, if you are going to fry potatoes, the extra oil is helpful as they need more oil to cook in than say if you were going to just brown some hamburger or fry bacon that was already greasy. While any type of cooking oil will work, I generally use vegetable oil as that is what we have on hand, but I think lard, or shortening would probably work a little better. Under NO circumstance use that spray on no stick cooking spray. It will build up on the surface and cause the skillet to become very sticky and actually gummy feeling to the touch. Not to mention those spray cans contain propane as a propellant and aside from the fact that who wants gas in their food, I can see some real possible safety problems using products containing propane around cooking fires.Keeping cast iron in good working condition is not hard to do. Just remember every time you use it, clean it, dry it, heat it and oil it. And your good cast iron skillet will do as good a job, if not better than any fancy Teflon coated cookware.
  12. I am really really sorry to hear this, you got it bad! I can understand how devistated you must feel. Since the attack was so complete, I suspect you are right in assuming it was intentionally directed at you. I hope you find how who did it and can run them down and kick their *bottom*. My own hotmail account got hacked this week too, but it was not so serious as your attack, they just raided my contact list and sent everybody an advertising link to a web site where they are selling junk. It pissed me off, but no real harm was done. This is the second time this happened, the first was a little worse, as they were using my account so much i couldn't even send any emails of my own.
  13. LOL, does my heart good to hear all you guys admitting to the fact that you are not real bright when it comes to sex. And the totally stupid thing you will do to get it. Honesty has not died out completely I see!
  14. I was begining to think winter was never going to end. But finally the weather is warming up and since I finally finished my income tax return today, all I have haning over my head is dog clipping and planting. The planting part I really enjoy, the clipping, not so much. As soon as I hit the send button on the tax return early this afternoon, I was out the door and shoveling rabbit poop into my flower bed. This will make the forth wagon load, and I need about one more. Yesterday Walmarts had some tulip bulbs for half price, so I got pink and purple ones and dug up a new little bed for them by the drivway entrance and got them planted, they really look good together, on the opposite side of the drive I have yellow and red tulips blooming from last year. Over the past few days I have dug up refreshed all my big tub planters and the big raised bed of flowers in front of the kennel. All I have to do now is seed them. And get somebody with a big strong back to drag my big potted Angel Trumpet plant out of the kennel where I keep it in the winter. Had the hired man planting 4 new fruit trees the past couple days. Now the only huge project is getting my better half to till up the big flower bed along the driveway. He manage to tear up the tiller working up his son's garden, and had to manufactor a new part for the tractor. And there is still our garden to till up, hopefully it will do better than last year. So, I am as you might guess, in full tilt spring time planting gear. So good to be out of the house and enjoying the great outdoors.
  15. Wow, it's a real bummer that the park doesn't allow BBQ! I was going to put in a good word for outdoor cooking too. Even if you are not a good cook, roasting a weenie on a stick isn't real difficult, and the flavor of a fire cooked hot dog can't be beat. I will keep my fingers crossed for you to have good weather for your party.
  16. Well, it is sure good to hear so much positive feedback on Windows 7, it's a far cry from when Vista came out and the uproar and disgust that surrounding that one. I haven't got to even see windows 7 yet, but am almost looking forward to it. I know I'll be due for a new computer soon and I was hoping something better than vista would come out before I had to get a new one. And of course, I love the Tv comercials about Windows 7, especially the french speaking girl with the adorable Wire Haired Fox Terrier on her computer! See, how many of you even knew what kind of dog it was?
  17. After suffering threw several months of SLOW speed and high priced satalite internet service I finally gave Wild Blue the boot. My speed was about as slow as dial up and 3 times the price. I even had a service tech out to see what was wrong with my system and he couldn't find anything. I got a great deal with my local phone company. Unlimited telephone, DSL internet, and DISH TV!!! After about 2 years or more of just the local free channels, Dish is a real joy! I had really missed the Sci Fi Channel. It is so cool to actually have something good to watch on tv, no matter what time of day it is. Only bad thing is the timing, now that it is spring I'm really too busy to watch it very much. The good news is that the whole 3 part package isn't going to cost me any more than the satalite internet, and my regular phone bill, almost like getting the Tv part free, so I'm a happy camper finally. Now maybe I can keep up my posting here at the forums without having to be up half the night waiting on the posts to load.
  18. Always good to remind us all of safty tips in the kitchen. Cooking oil can catch fire, and even on an electric cooking range, gas flames are not the only danger. I use my deep fryer a lot and it seems especially when there is really fresh oil in it, when you ad the uncooked (usually frozen food) it really bubbles up drasticly and can spill over the sides and ignite into flames. Remembering to never use water to put out a grease fire is a very important thing to remember. Always use a rag or towel to suffocate the flames. (actually the towel can be damp, just not sloppy wet) I always have a hand towel somewhere handy in the kitchen that can be grabbed in an emergency like this.
  19. I really hate scammers. It's pretty pathetic when someone has to make a living by decieving and lying to other people and take advantage of others stupidity. Then on the other hand, sometimes I feel like anybody that is stupid enough to think they won the lottery when they never even bought a ticket may deserve what they get. It's a pretty tough call sometimes.
  20. They actually make little booties you can put on your dogs paws for walks in the rain, but it is probably easier to just wipe your dogs paws before coming back in than trying to get all 4 paws covered up in boots, keep them on, take them off, and of course not to mention then putting up with all the rednecks and other hillbillys making fun of you for doing it.
  21. LOL, nothing so noteworthy as San Diego, at least they have a cool zoo there, this is a tiny town in southern California, Niland, to be exact, out in the middle of absolutly nothing but farm land. Ok, they do have the Saltan sea nearby, big pond with lots of dead fish laying on the banks. Real tourist attraction! But your right, a trip like you are talking about would certainly be a dream vacation! I would love to do something like that. I've always wanted to see Hawaii and other cool places like that. I drool every time I see one of those Carnival crusie ship ads on TV, expecially those with pools and stuff right on shipboard. But puppy sales are going to have to get a whole lot better than they have been for the past few years before I could ever manage something like that.
  22. I used to get in these wonderful flame fests with animal rights freaks on some of their message boards. We would argue and argue, and after I would counter all their remarks with logical and sane rational thought, they would have nothing left to do be slam me personally because of misspelled words or grammer. As if, since I didn't know how to spell some silly certain word I must therefore be stupid and my words could not be taken seriously. It was used as a last ditch effort to make me look bad. Personally I think it is a cheap and petty thing to do. I never stooped to it myself, except one time, I did ask a poster if they had been drinking, the post was horribly garbled and made no sense at all, another poster promptly informed me that the other poster had had some sort of medical problem, (something like a stroke) and had trouble with writing. So that was my first and last time of being critical about writing.
  23. First, to t0od0pe4u CONGRADULATIONS! That is a really great success story you have going there, and I hope you are able to maintain that weight loss. Good luck on the marriage too. If you put that much effort into your upcoming marriage I’m sure you will live happily ever after! And for Iguest,How young/small are your children? Perhaps they could exercise with you. If they are old enough to be up and running around, a daily trip to a local playground could be good for all of you, the kids would have a blast and you could play along with them getting your exercise. If they are still babies, or just toddlers, put them in a stroller and go for a good long walk or jog. Fresh air is good for them and you get the added calorie burning of pushing the stroller. In the home you could let the kids help you with your exercises. Let them hold your feet down while you do sit ups, or have them count for you. Let the kids hang on a bar and practise weight lifting them. Make a game of it and fun for them, and they will love your workout times. And there are a lot of fitness clubs that offer child care with their fitness programs. Anyway, if you put your mind (and body) to it there are lots of options for exercise. And remember, you don't actually have to set aside "exercise" time. You can add things to your daily routine that will give you exercise and burn extra calories. Going shopping? Park your car at the far end of the parking lot from the store and get those extra steps. Do some leg lifts while watching tv, or do deep knee bends while folding laundry. Always skip the elevator, take the stairs. You can do exercises while you would normally relax and watch TV. Heck, you can even do deep knee bends while you are folding clothes. I"ll bet if you put your mind to it you can come up with lots of ways to keep your body moving and burning those calories!
  24. Finally, a real vacation! No dogs involved either! First time in probably about 15 years. All of our previous ?vacations? involved loading up a bunch of pups in the RV and taking them with us to sell them. Not really much of a vacation when that?s what I do all year long anyway. But we had a good time this year. It was of course, a ?poor man?s? vacation, we stayed with my sister in law way down in southern California so we didn?t have any big hotel bills to worry about. They have a spare bedroom so it was quite comfortable. We didn?t do a whole lot, made a trip to Quartzsite Arizona to the big swap meet there, and visited the swap meet at Calexico, and then of course, our usual trip to Mexico. I always enjoy our day in Mexico, all the street vendors, great food, and we get new eye glasses and I have a favorite dentist there where I get my teeth cleaned for a mere $25, as opposed to the $90 it costs me here in the United States. (not to mention, he does a better job than my US dentist) Other than that we didn?t do much, but honestly, that is exactly what I wanted to do. Nothing. Sat on my butt and read books, ate and just relaxed. I brought 6 books with me, and went threw all of them and had to pick up a few more at the local swap meet. The weather was beautiful, I could sit out on the front porch all day and read, my in laws have a nice front porch with a real couch on it so it was quite comfy. We did great weather wise, got out of Missouri just before that really bad cold spell hit here, and got out of California just before the rains hit there. All in all it was really great. Just wish it could of lasted longer! The bad part of vacations is that sooner or later you have to come home. Then there is that rush to catch everything up. The hired men do a fine job of taking care of the dogs, but there is just so much they can do, so I am one busy person for awhile after coming home.
  25. I keep telling myself that sooner or later spring will be here. Despite the fact that we got snow last night just a few short miles west of here. I just am so sick of winter all I can do is look forward to spring. So I thought it might be good idea to remind everyone to protect their pets when spring finally does come. Here are some hopefully helpful reminders. It is early in spring when pets are most likely to suffer from heat related problems. After their bodies have adjusted to the colder winter temperatures, those first few really hot days we get in early spring can be devastating to pets not accustom to the sudden heat. Many people give their dogs a haircut for the summer months, but often this is not done until later in the season when the weather is completely stabilized and is warm all the time. Unfortunately, we seem to always get a few very warm days early, when the temps hit up in the 80?s and these are the days that can cause real problems. Dogs can actually die of heat stroke, and they are more likely to do so in those first few hot days than they are after their bodies have had a chance to adjust to the temperature changes. Make sure your pet has access to plenty of fresh water, and a good shady spot, even early in the spring. If you have a coated breed that you do shave down later in spring or early summer, be sure to keep an eye on your pet?s hair coat until you can get it to the groomer?s, or you do your own clipping. The frequent spring rains and constant wetting of the coat can quickly cause hot spots to start on your dog. And then too, along with spring comes all those pesky critters dog owners despise, fleas, ticks and the like. If you don?t do heartworm protection year round, spring is time to restart your heartworm protection too. Mosquito?s carry the parasite, and when they start flying, your dog is at risk for what can be a fatal parasite infection. Most breeds of dogs shed naturally in the spring and if you don?t want a hair storm in your home, now is the time to get busy with the doggie brush. Even short haired breeds shed, and will benefit from a good brushing. With long coated breeds, it is important to brush frequently in the spring when the coat is shedding naturally to keep the loose and dead hair removed from the coat to prevent matting if you prefer not to clip your long coated breed. Happy Spring everyone!
