    Excell Help

After numerous attempts to open my old pups on hand file that I lost with my old computer, I have given up and decided to just try to make a new one. But now I find I don't know how to work excell, and I'm not even sure how I made the old one to start with either. Anyway, I need to figure out in excell how to make one. I can't figure out how to loose the A B C's across the top and turn them into the right headers, and I can't figure out how to loose the extra colums I don't need. I only need 6 colums. I do need the numbers down the left side, just need to replace the A with breed, B with Sex, C with sire/dam etc. I also need to put text or numbers in the fields.
  2. Welsh Collie???? That's a new one on me. I have Welsh Terriers, and Bearded Collies, but I've never even heard of a Welsh Collie! Is that Max in your pictures? That's good work with your Schipperke. If you were going to do anything in the dog show world with a schipperke, agility would be your best choise without a doubt. Those little guys are just so full of energy. They never stop moving. Well silly me, I should of known there was some sneaky computerized way to do something like that! Being a computer illiterate in a big group of computer whizzes can be pretty tough sometimes. Heck, I don't even know what Chrome is, unless you are talking about car trim and bumpers. But seriously, if you do know anybody in Mo, please let them know! (yes, I'm getting desperate) Good poll Inea, but unfortunatly, none of the choises would work for me so I didn't vote. My better half might say the one about yelling at them till the listen would fit me though. I need one for "I have more than 20 dogs and they all listen to me." Ok, at least most of the time. See, I am the Alpha *BLEEP* here. (not sure our censors will allow that word, if it gets bleeped, it the word for female dog that rhymes with witch) They all know it's pointless to defy me so they seldom try. No, seriously, they are a pretty well behaved bunch.
  3. Actually, I think Glenn Beck does a pretty good job of exposing conspiracies in his show. He reasearches out who owns what company/organization, who funded what and who is the head of the various organizations and their ideals and goals. But I really don't think he's an alien, lol.
  4. OMG, you actually counted???? Seriously, if you have some spare time, and know anybody in Missouri, could you pass along this letter I wrote.... Missouri Voters, pease do not be fooled by slick advertising and lies from the Humane Society of the US about Proposition B coming up for a vote in November. B is BAD for Missouri. It will be a huge detriment to our economy, and put a lot of honest, hard working people out of work. Not to mention the fact that it is unconstitutional to let the government tell a citizen how much personal property they can own. While titled the Puppy Mill Cruelty bill, this bill has nothing to do with puppy mills, and will do nothing to regulate them. It is a direct attack on legal, licenced breeders. And though the media is promoting the bill as regulations for large scale breeders, in fact the proposed regulations are for anyone with 10 dogs! Of course, horders, rescues and shelters are exempted from the bill. Many hobby/show breeders will be affected by this bill. You will not be able to keep your dogs inside your home, unless you have a doggie door that is NEVER locked. You will not be able to leave your dogs safe and secure inside your home at night or when you are away from home, as one of the new regulations call for 24/7 unfettered access to the outdoors. You will not be allowed to crate your dogs under any circumstances. Over the years, dog breeders have faced many challanges. But this is by far the worst. Please don't think you can sit back and let your fellow breeders do all the work. We all have to pitch in. All of us are going to have to work very hard to make sure this does not pass. Please tell all of your friends, neighbors, relatives, everyone you know to VOTE NO ON PROP B. Read the actual rules here. http://www.sos.mo.gov/elections/2010petitions/2010-085.asp To learn more about Prop B, and find out what you can do to help, see these sites. http://www.thealliancefortruth.com/ http://www.petbreedersandowners.com/
  5. I don't know if you could actually call it slavery or not, but without a doubt, man is definatly hooked, and very dependent on technology. As if computers and cell phones weren't enough, now they even have robots preforming surgery. Now that is pretty scary if you ask me. I do believe people would be in very bad shape if it all was taken away from them. Stand along a busy road some day and watch the people in passing cars, I'd say at least one in every 4 that goes by is going to have a cell phone stuck to their ear. Cashiers in most stores don't even know how to count back change to customers anymore without the computerised cash register to tell them how much change to give back. I'm no better than everybody else, nearly 100% of my marketing is done on computer. (though I could happily live with the cell phone.) Maybe because of my age, a lot of this new technology came about after I was well past my impressionable years, in all honesty, if there was another way to market, or ways to do without all the technology, I'd be just fine with it. Heck, I even still know how to ride a horse!
  6. You are absolutly right, but of course, the budget thing is always a problem. I did have an old spare computer, but come to find out, it had problems too, so that didn't work for me this time. Hopefully I can get it fixed before this one dies. (or I throw it out the window) I am still having a terrible time. I cannot get some of those files to open, one in particular I really need. I know I made them with my old office suite, but it says the files can't be opened with any of the programs on it. I thought about trying to make a new one, but so far I haven't figured out how to do that yet. I need a data sheet, or chart or whatever you want to call it that has numbers down the side, and that I can enter either text or numbers in the colums. I tried to make one and it wouldn't let me put text in a colum and wanted numbers only. Then awhile ago, I tried to uninstall the old version of front page that was with the older office suite, and though I can see it in my all programs, it is not listed in the uninstall section. I have a much newer version I wanted to use. I tried putting the cd in and it won't install the new one. Just keeps telling me to put in the cd, which I do, but the computer will only open the cd, not run the instalation. I'm going crazy!!!
  7. Great post. I love talking dog! There are a lot of variable to this subject. It almost boils down to 2 simple facts however. Dogs are predictable. Humans are not. There are far too many quirks in the nature of the human. Dogs are in comparison, simple creatures. Humans tend to not realize how the basic instincts in dogs are the ruling force in a dogs life. Dogs don't worry about how they look, smell, if there is a purpose in life, if God really exists, if there will be a big enough pay check to pay all the bills this week, etc, etc. Humans don't get dogs. They tend to try to make dogs more complicated than they really are. Humans see a pile of poop on the sidewalk, and think eeewww, how terrible. A dog just sees it for what it is. It has no preconcived notions of the pile of poop being bad, or anything other than another dogs calling card. It sniffs it without hesitation. One of my favorite books is "Your Pet Really isn't Sick" by Herbert Tanzer, I believe is the author. I often recomend this book to my puppy customers. While it was never intended to be a book about dog training, it goes into various true life experiences between dogs and their owners where the owners behaviour has influenced the dog to act in ways that the owner finds to be disconcerting. Most owners don't even realize what they are doing that is effecting the dog. The dog whisperer is without a doubt, a good trainer, and is very popular. His methods work well with many dogs. However, he is not special. For every dog there is a way to train and a way not to train. And what works with one dog and the dogs owner, may not work with the next pair. Profesionals aren't really always needed, but they can be a help when a problem arrises. The most important thing is really for the owner to understand the nature of the dog, and not screw it up in the first place. If a person is not familiar with dogs and dog training, their very first step would be to read SEVERAL training books. Not just one, because there are literally thousands of different ways to train a dog. And as I have already said, what works with one dog may not work with another.
  8. I am very glad for you that you had the oppertunity to experience the wonders of true friendship. Now you have the experience and you can use it as you go threw life to help you judge others and help you make new friends. You have already realized how with the other gal you were just a "sidekick" as you described it. You now know what it takes to be a real friend. Also keep in mine, it works both ways. In order to have friends, you have to be one. And while it is important to deal with the here and now, and continue to make new friends, do make a special effort to keep in touch with Nikki. Emails, even if you aren't up at the same time. Don't loose track of her. Someday maybe a situation may come up that will give you the chance for a reunion. You just never know what twists of fate await you around the next corner.
  9. Yes, I agree, I am rather lucky in that respect. There is of course, a downside. Going to seminars, where the speaker dims the lights so he can display various charts and information, and I have to sit there quietly and try to listen........And I used to wonder how people could fall asleep while driving. I always thought driving was something that would keep you very alert and awake. Then I got a job where I was driving 18-24 or more hours at a time. I found out real quick that it can happen! Now that can be scary!
  10. Well, at least it's not just me, that makes me feel somwhat better. I'm not sure how I can post much more, the board has been pretty slow this summer,as far as new posts, not much to respond to and the only think going on in my life right now is the fight against Propositon B and I'm sure people on the other side of the planet could give a rat's hind end about that, so I just don't have much to talk about. Also, I've noticed the past few days the forums have been loading REALLY slow. Every place else I go now loads like lightening with the new computer, but it takes forever for the posts to show here. So, between low my cents and the amount of time it takes just to make a few posts, it's getting to be a real pain.
  11. Thanks for the tip on Google documents. I did try it, but got some error message that said they couldn't be uploaded. So I'm still stuck. I did attatch 2 of the most important ones to an email and sent it to a friend and he copied and pasted and sent them back to me and I saved them in another program, so at least I have those 2. And the good news, while I was at Google, I check in on my ad sence, and FINALLY after over 4 years, I finally broke $100 and hopefully Google will be sending me a check soon. I sure hope they don't screw me out of it after all this time!
  12. Sheeeew....now that's a relief! Ya kinda had me worried! That is a real good reason to use it though, I don't expect too many other would want that one.
  13. Wow Mich, I am terribly sorry for you. Sound like you are really having a bad year. I think health problems are just about the worst thing we have to deal with as humans. Don't be too quick to give up on your web site. Lots of people are still doing their own. Your site may just be slow because of the crappy economy, seriously, when people are loosing their homes and jobs they are out busting butt to make a living, not surfing the web. Hang in there, hope you feel better soon and things start going better for you.
  14. If you are in school, history is probably about the most boring class. However, it is important, because as the old saying goes, history does repeat it'self. Knowing what happened before, how it was handled and were the results the desired ones? If we don't study history, we will make the same stupid mistakes over and over. And not just the history of the world either. We should all be aware too,of our "personal" history. Why did relationships fail, what can we do to make the next time work better, these are important too.
  15. To you young whipper snappers that grew up using a mouse for a teething ring, you need to understand for us old foggies, it's all about easy. Windows got the jump on everybody, and since it is what most people use it's the easiest for us computer illerates to get somebody to help us when we get stuck. Heck, I don't even know what linux is. I have heard some strange stories about how there are other operating systems for surfing besides internet explorer, but I would be scared to even try them. Fox fire as far as I'm concerned is a series of books.
  16. Welcome aboard Marysmith! Your absolutly correct, nobody here at Xisto is lacking in substance! (ok, maybe a few have some substance abuse problems..... ) Just kidding. I've certainly got my share of substance, I could really stand to loose a few pounds, but I do like my groceries. Well, ok, maybe that's not the kind of substance your talking about, but I'm just rattling on being silly. So, tell us a little more about yourself, and again, welcome!
  17. I won't critisize you one little bit. I have long believed that people should have to do something to earn their welfare checks. It does no one any good to just be given a free handout for nothing in return. Education may be a good choise, and I like your idea of cutting their checks if they don't try to apply themselves. zanzibarjones has it absolutly right, people are on welfare because they are too lazy to work. And they aren't going to get up off their lazy asses unless they are forced to. I also think some sort of required community service type work would also be helpful. An education is not going to help everyone. Not everyone wants one, and truth be told, somebody has to flip the burgers at McDonalds. Welfare reciepients could do community service at schools, civic centers, or any charitable organizations. There should be no slack for the whinny ones that claim they are unable to work for various physical reasons. There is some job that everybody can do. Even a 400lb fat *bottom* that can't walk can sit and answer the telephone at some organization. It's easy, no contributions, no welfare check. See how easy it is to solve problems when you aren't a whinny *bottom* liberal?
  18. Ahhh, don't worry about it Steve, we all make mistakes when we are new here. I know I sure did. I appreciate your response. I am glad to hear at least some students are having to take it. I was really beginning to wonder. And with the way our current administration is trampoling our fights and freedoms, I figured they'd probably stop teaching the constitution, so nobody would be the wiser to their stealing of our rights. And ok, sorry, I have to ask, why did you choose your nickname?????
  19. Call me crazy, but Sunday is both my least favorite and most favorite. We go to the swap meet, sometimes just to shop, but sometimes to set up to sell too. I love to go threw the swap meet to shop, and afterwards we go out to eat, and of course, we love the buffett at Golden Corral, and always eat way too much, so we are miserable on the way home. At this point I usually decide the best course of action for the rest of the afternoon is a good nap! If we set up, we don't go out to eat afterwards, because we couldn't leave the pups and stuff in the car, but it is very trying on my patience to have to deal with people, and while most of the time I enjoy myself, occasionally some dip stick comes along and totally pisses me off. By the time we get up at 4 am to load and go and then set up and talk to people all morning, then take everything back down and pack it back up, by the time we get home I am totally exhausted. So again, a nap is the only viable choise for sunday afternoon.
  20. No matter how far computers advance, and how intelligent they become, and how realistic the charectors are, they are NOT alive. Not real. A computer charector cannot become completely sentient. They can be programed to think I suppose, but without that input from the programer they are just a bunch of circuts and eletric impulses. The violence children are exposed to is a whole different subject. I am still not sure on where I stand on the subject. For you young'uns, this debate has been going on for a very long time. At least since the invention of the television. Maybe the very first cartoon where the sheepdog bopped the coyote on the head with a big hammer, there have been those that cry that are children are being taught violence. I think I lean towards TV/games not being such a bad thing if the child is taught good family values, right from wrong and has good, solid parents who take an agressive interest in the proper raising of the child. Which unfortunatly in not the case much of the time.
  21. Yup, I can see a pattern with that information. But I do have to agree with him a little bit, it is hard (for me anyway) to make enough posts to keep up my web hosting. And is it just me, or are the mycents now harder to earn than they were before all the big changes? Some nights I feel like I've typed my fingers to the bone and I only make $1?
  22. Hummmm....this is a tough one for me. Admittedly, there is plenty of cyber crime out there, specifically child preditors and con artists. Those sort of things need to be adressed. But how would we address them without sacraficing our own personal freedom and rights to privacy? Just what powers would we give these cyber cops? How could we let them do their job without interfering with respectable people just enjoying their personal freedoms? You know the old joke, "What is an Elephant?......it's a mouse built to government specifications!" You know how the government gets out of hand once they get their toe in the door. It would be very difficult to set up for sure.
  23. I don't really think HOW you do a job comes into play here with this theory. Carrying a sack of rice 50 miles because you need exercise doesn't really pertain to doing things by your best. My take on this is that when you give it your all, you consider that you are giving 100%. But sometimes you can't for whatever reason, actually give it your all, so you just do what you can. So if you aren't feeling up to par, and you still do what you can, I suppose you would be giveing 100% of your abilities at the given time.
  24. Sorry you got so royally screwed. Leave it to the school system to find ways to ripp you off. I guess it's not enough to screw over the American tax payers with all their taxes, they have to nail the students too. What a shame!Seems like every time the government wants more taxes from us they say it's for the schools, it'f for our children, and our children are our future........and the dumb tax payers fall for it, and next thing you know our education system is worse than it was before, and they are crying for more money. Wonder when people are going to catch on that you can't fix everything by throwing money at it?
  25. Thanks guys for all the input. I finally gave up on the computer with windows 7 and went with an HP compaq, with windows xp pro, and things are going much better now. At least my camera program is here and I can work with my pictures again. That is actually my main thing with the computer, taking and emailing pictures of pups for customers, so without that I was in a world of hurt. Right now my only big problem left is getting Office installed. I had it done, but the computer refused to open the files I had the guy that worked on my old computer save. It said I didn't have the right programs to open them with, even though I had just installed office, and it showed the programs to be on the computer. So, I tried removing the programs I just installed, and net chance I get I'll re install and see if it works that way. Otherwise, I will be in big trouble if I can open all the records I have saved. One thing did kind of freak me out when I was setting up the new computer. Always before when I changed, I had to reconfigure my internet connections to my isp. But this time I just pluged it in and was actually about to put in the cd from the phone company, but thought just for fun I'd go ahead and hit the explorer icon, and low and behold, it connected! I just can't figure out how the new computer did that.
