Thank it is working now, the groups part isn't working, but I'll try and fix that when I get home, I have an idea what is going wrong, but thanks I'll download that editor, hopefully I can figure out that kind of stuff now with it

So are you trying to say its supposed to be like: <?php if (in_array(1, $user_info['groups']) || in_array(2, $user_info['groups'] || in_array(3, $user_info['groups'] || in_array(4, $user_info['groups'] || in_array(5, $user_info['groups'] || in_array(6, $user_info['groups'] || in_array(7, $user_info['groups'] || in_array(9, $user_info['groups'])) { echo "Welcome to the profile section! "; } else { echo "We are sorry, it seems you don't have access to this page. Please register or login to view this page."; } ?> ? Otherwise I don't really get what you mean, I'm not really seeing it? Line 83 is the first { in the thing (like 4 in this small peice of code) am I supposed to get rid of the { on that line all together? Or... what? I think I did what you mean by adding double quotes, right?

Any ideas to where a good editor (preferably free) would be?

Ya SMF does have those features for editing, but I mean, I don't really want just the email, I want different things that, and SMF does have those kinds of things, but I want to expand, its kind of hard to explain, but anyways, I get this error message when I'm trying to make it based on usergroups? I 'm not really understanding: And here is that portion of the code, <?phpif (in_array(1, $user_info['groups']) || in_array(2, $user_info['groups'] || in_array(3, $user_info['groups'] || in_array(4, $user_info['groups'] || in_array(5, $user_info['groups'] || in_array(6, $user_info['groups'] || in_array(7, $user_info['groups'] || in_array(9, $user_info['groups'])){ echo 'Welcome to the profile section! ';if (in_array(1, $user_info['groups']) || in_array(2, $user_info['groups'] || in_array(3, $user_info['groups'] || in_array(4, $user_info['groups'] || in_array(5, $user_info['groups'] || in_array(6, $user_info['groups'] || in_array(7, $user_info['groups'] || in_array(9, $user_info['groups'])) echo 'and'; else echo 'or'; echo ' 12!';}else{ echo 'We are sorry, it seems you don't have access to this page. Please register or login to view this page.';}?> The line 83 of the code is: { echo 'Welcome to the beta section! '; Any ideas as to why this would be unexpected {?

I kind of get what your saying, I'm probably confusing myself thinking about it and it really isn't that hard, I already have the display members username so pretty much its that same exact thing I just need to create another thing somewhat like it? But the one thing I don't really know how to do though is get them to be able to edit their own email etc.

Hey guys, Basically I'm creating this website, and wish to create a user profile system with my members. Now, I already have a login/register system going on, which is integrated to my SMF (2.0 if it matters) forum. SMF made this possible very easily by using SSI commands such as: <?phprequire("/home/openpoli/public_html/forums" . '/SSI.php');?> to connect to the database and call on things such as $context['user']['name'] which would show the person's username (when he is logged in), or things such as ssi_login($redirect_to = 'http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/;; which will show a login form for the user to login, but redirect them back to the homepage which they logged into. Now I haven't seen from the list of commands that SMF has provided, the one I want for this. I want to create a profile on the website, similar to the one on the forums where you click their profile name, it takes you to their profile which it shows stats. Now I want a seperate one though, they can click on their own name, it'll take them to a page where they can edit profile details. Basically it really isn't a profile as much as a profile center, where they can do certain things such as add a article ( I can build this system on my own), and edit certain details. The problem I'm having is do I need to create a new page per user for them to do this? Or would it be easier to just make one page, and depending on if they are logged in, it'll show the page(I know how to do this), and then from there they can edit certain fields (I somewhat know how to do this, but I'm sure the way I could do it is completely wrong). In short, how can I create a profile managing center where people can edit certain database entries (for their username) such as their email, (not password), and view certain information for their account (no idea where to do start with this part).

In my personal opinion, VisualBasic sucks, I haven't experimented much with it, I just don't like it, however it is very easy to code.

All My Sites Here Got Virus! My Hosting got hacked?
nol replied to frozen.fish's topic in Security issues & Exploits
first you want to fresh start your computer after you do a virus check with avg, norton, or whatever you have, then you want to change all your passwords, maybe freshstart your website or at least install a backup of what you had. That is what I would do anyways. -
Ok thanks, I wasn't sure if anybody else had this before so just thoguht I might have as well posted it anyways. Thanks though, im excited to be hosted again

All My Sites Here Got Virus! My Hosting got hacked?

Well if Xisto/Xisto haven't changed anything since I was last here, I've never seen them been attacked, and why somebody would go just into your account and give you a virus is beyond me, I'm sure your computer has a virus/keylogger and that is how it happened, or somehow somebody guessed your password right, so I wouldn't find it hard to believe that this is on your end... -
Ok so I bought a domain and a website, but I accidentally clicked buy about a week ago when I was looking at prices, and needed $26 instead of $16 (I had $16 in credit at the time though), so I finally paid off the invoice, but this is what it says:Invoice # Invoice Date Due Date Total Status 13937 2009/05/28 2009/06/02 $1.60 USD PaidWhat does it mean by the due date being the 2nd? And when does my monthly cycle start? The 28th of may, today, or whenever it isn't pending anymore? Same goes for my yearly cycle of the domain then?

It happens, I don't think its too uncommon, there are a lot of chicks that play games now, it's nothing too new to the world. I kind of think its pretty cool though. I have seen some girls that have gotten better then me at games, I don't neccesarily care though.

You should probably add quote tags for the things you didn't write, but anyways I think the basically people won't like it to change jobs that often in that alloted amount of time, it just doesn't send a good message to your employer, they could assume 1, you are not a very trust worthy employee and can't keep your job for very long, or that 2, you just aren't very good at long-term commitments and can't settle down. They could be ok for summer jobs, but for something like that, that is just insane.

For it's time? Lol, it isn't even 10 years old, its not that old of a game, but somewhat I agree with you, back when Halo 1 and 2 came out, they were good, but when Halo 3 came out, I don't know, it just seemed like a let-down. After 2 years of it being out, I am not excited for another Halo, and I am not excited for anything else Halo related coming out. I loved the first two, but the third just kinda sucked it. It wasn't bad, but there were so many better games out there.

I always liked the sims series, even though I only forked the money over for 2 of them, they do really get boring after awhile, I might check out sims 3, but I doubt I will pay for the whole game, maybe just rent it for a week or two.

Don't Cops Have Better Things To Do i mean besides invading our schools
nol replied to B-T's topic in General Discussion
Well I don't know about you but I think at least they are there for your protection and not there to cause trouble. I would feel 10x more safe with them there then without because what if somebody does bring a weapon to school? Would you rather have the school call the police and them be there in 10-20minutes later or be there instantly? Plus I'm sure they are there more to keep your school drug free then to stop violence like that, overall I don't think it could hurt either way. If there is something your doing at school and your worreid about the police stopping you maybe you shouldn't be doing it? -
Whic Is The Best Social Networking Website?
nol replied to tinoymalayil's topic in Websites and Web Designing
I prefer facebook only because more of my family are on it. I think that it makes it easier to communicate between my family members and I, and that it makes it overall just way easier. I'm not so sure about myspace, I just feel overall safer with facebook. -
That is completely load of crap. Myspace is a social networking site. Basically same thing as Facebook, and all the others. I for one have a Facebook, and I am 19, almost 20, my sister has a facebook, and she is 27. It isn't aimed for teenagers with nothing better to do, it is aimed at people in college, maybe even high school trying to keep in touch with people they went to school with. My facebook has kept me intouch with numerous people I have gone to school with, in which before I would have no idea of how to contact them since I have changed cell phone numbers, and they have moved. How else would I be able to feel good about moving and still keeping in touch with my friends? It is hard, people under the age of 18 using it is kind of pointless, because it just starts drama, unless you are using it to keep in touch with family members et cetera. Second part of your small little paragraph I quoted there, says you think that employers don't care about personal life as long as you behave in the workplace. This makes me question you ever having a job? Because really, that is very untrue. Employers do care, and I have been asked before if they could see it, the whole interview won't be based on it, but they do care about you and what you behave like outside of school, or outside of the workplace, because that will most likely come out one time or another in the workplace. Your grades, those matter, as it shows your commitment, your friends matter, as it shows your interests. I don't see where you would think it wouldn't matter when it comes to your personal life and employers, because they aren't hiring you for your best work, they are hiring you on what your lowest quality of work could/might be, because nobody can expect your best work all the time, and your personal life is where that especially is shown. As to this actual topic, I believe it is somewhat invasion of privacy, however they don't have oto much power over you outside of school, only part where this could come in is if they do find illegal activity going on, and they notify the police. Just remember, you can set your profiles to only friends viewable, and remember that you don't have to add them as a friend if the school tries to add you! They probably won't add you as a friend, and they probably won't look you up unless there is speculation on illegal activity and facebook/myspace may be the cause. The reason why they won't base everything off your facebook/myspace though is because anybody can make a facebook for you, or a myspace under your name. So it isn't very secure in that way. I do know from first hand, employers may and sometimes will ask for your facebook/myspace page. It is kind of like a criminal and grade check on you, which most employers do too. It shows exactly what your like in a casual setting, and how you will present yourself. People can fake an interview, but nobody can fake a whole lifetime of casual occassions that you may encounter.

I don't get why people are getting so freaking crazy about this stupid little thing, it isn't even that big of a thing, I mean it isn't like it is so deadly it could instantly wipe us all out. WE have technology, there are precautions we are taking, we aren't going to just get annihilated by some flu. We don't need to quarantine everybody, we don't need all this mass media about the flu, that only one person has died from in the United States. People can say well ya we have all these people dieing in Mexico, well it's just that, it's Mexico, it isn't like we have a poor health care, it isn't like we have poor sanitation, we have blown all of this way out of proportion, and it got old, real quick.

Webish, first off, I see a flaw in your flaw of why it should not be made legal. The fact that it is illegal already, is not the reason why most people don't smoke it so often. It is because of how dang expensive it is. 1 pack of cigarettes is what? $4 something? I don't even know how many cigarettes there are in a pack, but lets say it's 12, now if marijuana became legal, they prob won't sell much in the cigarette form, but more in baggies. So lets say 1 joint is equal to 2 cigarettes, and 1 joint is a bowl. I'm not really into all these prices, but lets say a bowl is $5. Which is pretty cheap. Multiply that by 6, and you will be at $30. That is just 6 joints, which we are equaling to be one pack of cigarettes.Do you see how expensive this is? $30 or $5. People don't do it as much because it is so dang expensive. Just because they are made legal, wouldn't make the price any less. Taxes on it could go through the roof making it more expensive. Just because it is illegal though, it makes the drug market control the prices, and that is why it varies soo much, but definatly does not stop people from doing it who want to do it. Make the age limit 30 on marijuana, I don't care as long as it eventually becomes legal. I myself am not into marijuana, I just hate the fact we are so restricted by the government on this aspect of life, but not on others. Each state decriminalizing it is one step towards the right direction, but we need more than that. It won't just hapen overnight, but it will eventually happen, we all know it, as time goes on, we all become more self aware of other people, and are able to control things easier. Technology has helped stop crime, but it can also help people band together and we can get more progress done this way.

How is it way better than xbox 360s? Every single xbox 360 game has achievements..including arcade games. Guitar hero for the ps3 doesn't even have trophy system, so you guys aren't really challenged when it comes to guitar hero, and I'm 100% sure it isn't just that game. Tell me how that is better..Maybe the ps3 has some eye candy for the trophy system, but I don't care about graphics on that part, as long as it challenges me to do things I wouldn't normally do, which gives me more value out of every game.Until recently the ps3 hasn't had any good ps3 exclusives. No titles, at least the xbox had halo, which was a great series in the beginning, and there are so many more things than just that on the ps3. None of fps were any good on the ps2 (at least for online/multiplayer) until cod4 came out, in which the xbox's version still rocked the ps3 version. More people use xbox live, therefore more games can make it have online. Ps3 online may be free, but still, xbox's live is good enough for me. I'll pay that $50 a year. Its basically a $50 insurance on every game I buy saying I'll probably end up playing it 10x longer then I would have without it. Plus that $50 goes straight to microsoft who will then hopefully use it to upgrade. Which is where the ps3 failed, all the money they make is off the consoles, and the games and the online marketplace, which I'm sure is hardly anything that their making.I agree that the ps3 has amazing graphics, but that is nothing that I care about, I'm good with the graphics in cod4, or gears of war, heck I'm good with the graphics in crackdown, as long as the game is amazing, it doesn't bother me any. Blu-ray is amazing though so I can't really say anything about that truly. For all you saying playstation's specs are way better than xbox 360, I agree, but how many games have that kind of power to push playstation's specs to the max and truly be that good. When people say xbox's graphics are better, it is because they are basing it off of the games already out for the xbox, and playstation, and not what they can handle.

That is not right! I hate illegal pirating. Some things are ok, like I don't really think software should be made paid except for certain ones that a lot of time has been put into, but theres a lot of them now you have to pay $100+ for simple upgrades, which is just bullcrap. THe one thing I do not support though is illegally downloading of movies, and especially music. Music is my life, and if people keep downloading illegally, less and less songs are going to be coming out (we can already see this now). This is also partly why rap has turned so bad. They stopped caring about good quality songs if it might not even get much money for it, whereas they will get more money if they put together more, horrible songs. Ones that all say the same thing, but they found they will make more money that way, and that is all our fault. People who download music illegally, that is why we have so many problems here with the music crisis.

I think the legal driving age should be raised to 18ish. But it ultimately decides upon the area in my head. A lot of city boys should be getting their drivers license at 18, however I think that country boys should still be getting it at 16s. They raised the permit up to age 15 1/2 over here (what kind of number is that?). But in more country areas, it is still at 14, because they have had experience driving, and their schools are so far apart they almost need a license so their parents dont have to lug them around and the buses don't have to worry about picking them up.No matter what the age, people are still going to have trouble driving their first year or so. I mean, it is just something you have to get used to. I like here how they have graduated license. Permit at 15 1/2 (drive with guardian), probationary license at 16 (only one friend in car), then after 9 months of probationary, you get your full license. That seems about right to me, to have people going from a permit with only parents, to having a full license with 4 friends, is just a little much.
