Katamari Sig
lacking_imagination replied to lacking_imagination's topic in Graphics, Design & Animation
The background was Gimp through linux (dsl) and then I saved it as a .psd and photoshopped the render in through XP... I really need to touch it up...The forums where I'm a mod allowes *massive* sigs, so I figured I'd try to take advantage -
Ok, the last one sucked, so I tried this again. New idea, same forum... The render looks rough, and I can't really get it to touch up any more. It was originally about 1/5 the size it is here, though, so I got most of the rescaling fixed, I think. What do you think?

Linux Ports For Mmorpg's Not enough linux games
lacking_imagination replied to fraudulentpeanut's topic in Computer Gaming
Xfree86 is a must for linux gaming(I'm sure you already have it though... Also your video drivers... But then wine is a great, free alternative to cedega. They have a few there, and if you're running a different distro, google for it, and you _should_ find it. I run Damn Small Linux, so I had to hop around their forums a bit, but I found it. Usage may vary, but I opened up the file manager, double clicked an exe file, and set command for booting it as wine (so it goes "wine abcd.exe") it may have some font issues, depending on your distro (it does on DSL, but for a very minimalist distro, what do you expect?), but other than that, it runs fine. And WoW is listed in their AppDB as gold (no problems for running) -
Slax looked cool, but I went with DSL instead... It has firefox built in, along with quite a few other really useful programs, and there's a version of OpenOffice.org available from the distro sites... If you're looking for something for school, the live cd is about 48 MB (not including OOo or anything extra you download) and can fit on a business card cd... It's *fairly* user friendly (it's my first distro) and has a decent selection of apps and games http://www.damnsmalllinux.org/

What Is Goowy? The first email in flash
lacking_imagination replied to sanbeand's topic in General Discussion
It looks neat but it can't be accessed via POP3. I live on my cell phone (t-mo sidekick 2), and it has a full functioning email client on it. Gmail works just fine for me.Also, with the expanded selection of web-capable phones now, as nice as interactivity is, not everything (i.e. flash) shows up. We just got javascript within the past month... -
Rate My Crappy Sig <_<
lacking_imagination replied to lacking_imagination's topic in Graphics, Design & Animation
It took 3 minutes to piece it together... I spent maybe 1 minute in google finding the psp and ipod images, but about 45 minutes cutting the stuff off the ipod and then touching up the reflection beneath it and the transparancies for the wheel to blend it... (I already had the background but that takes less than a minute anyways.)It was a really rushed shop job... Anyways, I spent about an hour more on it, and I know I'm still far from done... Oh well, thanks for all the input...And trolling is bad, mmkay? -

Playstation 3 general reviews and views
lacking_imagination replied to semeticsister's topic in Computer Gaming
XD that's great. Anyways...To the original poster: I want a pic of you holding the system. Otherwise, I don't believe you. the ps3 will be somewhat unique as it will be one of the first consumer level blu-ray disk players. The PS3's cell processor looks promising. But sony, stop showing us vaporware. There had better be at least systems by E3, if not a japanese release by then. All of last years videos were done on computers, not the console. Most were prerendered videos as well. Don't believe anything until you see it on the system itself. -
Copyright Protection What is...Copyright protection?
lacking_imagination replied to rejected's topic in General Discussion
I did a research report last year for english on copyright laws. I don't have the website off hand, but I remember it was somewhere in the library of congress... Anyways, it stated that even if you don't register your copyright, you can still take legal action against any infrungement. Registration is recommended, as it is possible to spoof other dates thereby making it harder to prove that you were the original author.also, about fansites, cover songs, etc... I believe that the original copyright holder also holds the copyright to derivative works. I'd have to look it up again... Also, the original copyright holder can request that the derivative works be taken down at any time if publicly posted.Everything else that has been stated was correct, I just thought I'd point out what the LoC had to say about it too ;)Also, still, despite all copyright laws, be cautious with your work. A very good artist on deviantART was having his work stolen and despite his copyrights he couldn't travel to take legal action (these overseas online companies were making thousands using his artwork for advertisement). He ended up just taking his whole gallery down. So still, be careful even if you do register. -
I threw this together in like 3 minutes for my friend's message board where I'm a scoreboard mod... The psp thing is an ongoing joke between us (I call it the pspod- when sony finally gives in) and that took me about 45 mins of photochopping So, without further adu, rate my crappy sig (they all love it, but none of them do graphics)...

What libraries are you needing? I'm using DSL (I'm a noob, and don't have net on my pc at home, so I needed something small and fast to drag onto my iPod at the library... Long story)... You can download a GTK2 library for DSL... I really love it, even though I don't have many programs for it yet... It has just about everything you need (minus a powerpoint app, if you need it) and the other programs are easily accessable. I think it's a good first distro for us new *nix users http://www.damnsmalllinux.org/

Your Favorite Rpg Game and why its your favorite
lacking_imagination replied to XxPrinceValoxX's topic in Computer Gaming
Halo 2 is a First Person Shooter (FPS) not a Role Playing Game (RPG), FYI. My favorite RPG would be Final Fantasy IX. I loved the skill system, and they brought character classes back (yay!), and it had some very tough bosses. FFVII was fun, but nowhere near as good as IX... I never liked VIII... I beat it way too fast, and omega weapon wasn't even that hard... Phantom Brave (ps2) is by far the best tactics rpg (no grid ) -
Hmm... Well, any of the games I want are hard to find (Rez and Guitaroo Man) because they've been discontinued...I would say mainstream games would either be GTA:SA special edition for ps2, or maybe Call Of Duty 2...The game companies have made it easy to get any game this year. Mostly because 98% of the games released in the past year have sucked, but that's a whole different story.

my parents won't let me get any internet other than my cell phone. Consider yourself lucky. They say there's too much bad stuff online, and won't let me get the net even if I download a filter thingy. My parents suck. I can't wait until I move out in a few months.

What Are Pros And Cons Of Ipods
lacking_imagination replied to lacking_imagination's topic in Science and Technology
I thought about the video ipods, but.. 1. I don't have internet on my computer to download the videos2. The screen is tiny for videos3. I have a PSP4. I don't need 30 gigs of storage. I use lower bitrates when ripping my mp3s, and I have 775 songs on the nano with 1.8 gb free... 4gb is enough for me. I really like my nano a lot, the interface is better than the other 3 mp3 players that I've had that broke on me. While it does scratch easily, that's why they make cases -
Ipod Not Working, Need Help
lacking_imagination replied to lacking_imagination's topic in Science and Technology
I thought about the ipod video, but then I thought, why would I want to watch a video on that tiny screen when I have a psp? I only need 4 gigs of music storage (less than 2 gigs, and over 700 songs currently), so an ipod video or anything 20gb or larger is just a waste to me. I'm happy with my 4 gig nano. -
What Are Pros And Cons Of Ipods
lacking_imagination replied to lacking_imagination's topic in Science and Technology
Hey, thank you all for your input... the one I was looking at was a 4 gig nano, and it was $220, which is $30 less than the normal price... I don't see myself using more than 4 gigs of music, and I don't need video playback (PSP ) so I think I am going to be getting it.Thanks everyone for your help! -
The games are not all ports of ps2 games. Namely the 2 rpgs that are out now (I forget the names), lumines, Infected, suck.. Er, smart bomb, untold legends, twisted metal head on (if you call that a port, then you may as well call the ps2 twisted metals ports as well)...Coded arms... The list of psp exclusives and original titles just gets bigger.Movie selection has vastly expanded... Memory is getting cheaper... I will say, though, that my start button sticks during some games, which pretty much sucks, but I live with it. Its a gadget, it's not perfect.Anywho, my biggest concern is that it scratches about as easily as an ipod(take that as you will). Other than that, it's great

I have the chance to get a 4 gig nano from best buy for $220... I'm wondering what the pros and cons of the ipod is, as I've heard a lot of mixed emotions about them... How is the quality of the device itself? Also, I don't have internet on my computer that has all of my music on it, will I still be able to transfer them to my ipod? And what all file types does it support? I have wma, atrac3 and mp3 files, so would I have to convert my whole mysic collection? Thanks in advance to anyone who can help!

Video Capture Card Lagging
lacking_imagination replied to lacking_imagination's topic in Hardware Workshop
Alright, well, thanks for the input. And boy am I glad I bought that s-video cable. And I'm glad that cap card has that external input box. Thanks for the help anyways! -
For ps2, I would recommend Katamari Damacy or We Love Katamari... They're both sleeper hits, but they're very simple and addicting. Plus, both games together will run you $50(kd is 20, wlk is 30)... You'll have countless hours of gameplay between the 2 games... Definetly 2 must have ps2 games. The graphics may look sucky, but once you start playing, you pretty much forget about graphics, because once you start playing, you realize that graphics aren't what make a game fun.For pc, I'd say UT2004... Lots of fun plus loads of mods for it

George Dubya Bush Finally Gets It. the stats dont lie.
lacking_imagination replied to anarchyboard88's topic in The Vent
Well, I'm not going to bash you... I'm conservative, and although we may diasgree on some points, I somewhat agree with you here. While I feel the "better safe than sorry" approach was better at first, we're done in iraq, we don't need to lose any more soldiers. I will disagree with people's points on the war on oil, as gas prices have only went up since the war started. You can't blame GW for going to war with the intelligence that was given to him. He, just like most other presidents, are politicians, not military experts. He can only go off of the information that his advisors tell him. If you were in his shoes, and your top military advisors told you that a country may be a threat to your country, you would probably have done the same thing. -
I recently got an ATI TvWonder internal video capture card for my ps2 speed runs. Now, it's a great card, and does pretty high quality recording, there's about a 1-2 second lag between pressing a button on the ps2 controller and it actually happening on screen. I currently run my s-video to the cap card box and the rca video to my TV, but that means I have to carry my tv into the living room every time I want to record. My main question is, does anyone know any tweaks to speed up the display of the streaming video?I'm running a p4 1.8ghz processor with 750mb of ram and an nvidia gforce 4, so I'm not exactly lacking in the hardware department... Are there any fixes or did I just get a slow card?

Whats Max Credit Amount That You Have Earned In..
lacking_imagination replied to DreamCore's topic in General Discussion
Correct, I believe they drop to 2 credits after getting your site... I was up to 54 credits and I lost them all That was a little disappointing, but I guess I just have to build mine back up.If you find a topic you know a lot about, post there, and post all you know... It can yeild some high credits.. I had over 30 credits with 17 posts -
I don't have halo 1/2... My pc can run halo 1, but I don't have internet, and I don't have an xbox for halo 2. Personally, halo single player sucks. It's only good for LAN wars.Doom 3. Walk down a dark hallway, see a glowing pentagram. Monster spawns from pentagram. Kill. Walk down hallway, open door. Shoot monster. Repeat.Gran Tourismo 4. Personally, all the freaking hit a wall and lose 10 second penalties turned me off.Counterstrike. Not that I don't like it, but I don't have net on my computer. Same with HL2.C&C generals/tiberium sun. I love them, but just haven't bought them yet.
