I have 45 so if anyone want's you can PM me too. But only one invite per person. I think this whole inviting thing is nice. If you have invites people come asking for it.

I fell stupid using notepad, why do something on your own when you have software for it. It's like writing machine code insted of using compilers. :DFrontpage is the best. I like using it because it does all the work for you. When I have to do hand coding I just change the view to HTML and then back to normal. It has CSS and stuff. I don't know it so it is better for me. I am not very good at HTML either. I want to start using Dreamweaver. That's the best. I'll be starting soon.

yeah, I find it pretty stupid too. Usually programmers, freelance writers will be on the top and graphics artists and people like that will be at the bottom. Besides why do you want to slow down you PC with something you won't get anything out of.

If you want some serious traffic then there is a site which say they can bring about 1,000,000 visitors to your site. But remember these are only visitors who will come to your site and go. If you are looking for marketing and stuff, you need targeted advertising where you will get only those people who are interested to see what you have on your site. These are the type of visitors you want. Otherwise you will have visitors who are of no good but just use up your bandwidth.Befor registering make sure you have enough bandwidth to handle the traffic.freeviral.com - brings traffic to your site like virus. (that's what they say)

Linux is good if you have the right distro. It usually depends on what type of user you are. There are so many distros of linux that you can choose one for every need. For a beginner I would suggest Knoppix; pop it into you CD-ROM and be a linux user. If you don't know about linux files system andhow to partition it then this would be your best option to use linux. No installation rerquired. It is made for beginners. But that doesn't mean that you have to use knoppix till you learn about it. There are other distros with live CD's as well. (Live CD is a CD with a OS which need not be installed for use). SuSe 9.1 also has a live CD. SuSe is one of the best Linux distros. But my favourite is Mandrake 10.1 it is the best if you are starting with linux. Cool graphics, easy to install, no problems at all. There is one more: PCQ linux, that too is good.Although most linux users use Red Hat. It is the most widely used linux. SuSe is one of the best. It has everything you will need. For power users or when you are well versed with linux and want a bit more from it then I would suggest Gentoo. It is supposed to give the best performance of your hardware. It all depends on what suits you best. Some poeple may not like the graphics and all the funky stuff with linux. Linux was for geek earlier. But proved wrong by the modern world. Linspire formerly Lindows, is supposed to be linux but has the look and feel of windows. So if you are good with windows the I think you will like this one. And don't think of changing over to linux in the future. Linux is now. Linux is happening. The sooner you make the transition the better it is, or else you will fall behind. One easy way to do that is: Have a dual boot system i.e., have windows on one drive and linux on another. This will help you in making a smoother transition. When you need to do something that is not possible with linux (mainly because you won't be knowing how to do it) you can switch to windows and do all the basic stuff like browsing and emailing with linux. The other problem with linux is the availability of necessary software. Windows that everything you will ever need. In linux there is everything but is hard to find. But linux is more secure. (Again depending on the version of it, there can be newer linux exploits). I myself started out with a dual boot with Xp and Mandrake 9.1. Now I have XP and Red hat. I want to be familiar with Red Hat because it is better when you are thinking about working in the software field. Red Hat is preffered by most commercial companies. Most distros are freely available. Even for download. Which makes it a fierce competitor with windows. The other method of transition is using Virtual OS. You can run linux within windows. But this is not advised since that would not allow you to make full use of linux. To check out the basic stuff like looks and software etc it is ok.I might have written some things you already know, but don't forget forum is for everyone. There may be others who need some info that they can find it your post. So when you post make sure you keep that in mind. We are doing this for the community that just for ourselves. I think it is better to write everything at once than keep writing to doubts again and again.I hope you will start out with linux soon. Waiting to see you join the club.Hope I could help.

I don't actually know why people have a problem with the white background I think it looks cool with the shadow and stuff. Really good. I'm impressed. The narrow design looks different. I like it. It also makes the shadow very obvious. Like google. It think for the way it is designed it is perfect. For leiaah: I don't think you have read the rules properly. If you don't want to have any bad experience here then I think you better follow the rules. You'll have to go through all the rules and find out what mistake you have done yourself. I won't tell you. You are lucky that our host is a little nice with people. What's that supposed to mean???

Ncq - Heard Of It? Hottest on hard drive tech
canute24 replied to canute24's topic in Science and Technology
No, I don't think it works on the old drives. There are only two drives that I know that provide this technology: Maxtor on the new Diamond Max 9 and Seagate .8 (Dot Eight) drives. I don't know if it is commecially available. I read someone saying Dell gives them. Maybe you can find out more from dell websites.I don't know what will be the price of it in US. The price might be higher that the usual drives. Sice it is a retaively new technology I don't even know whether you will find it in shops over there. My problem is that I can only help you with the details of the technology since I am exactly half way around the world. -
That's right actually, there are not many motherboards like that but what will you do when you need to upgrade. AGP 8X will be scrapped soon. AGP 4X has already been stopped. It is hard to find 4X cards even in old stocks. PCI-E is not much better than AGP slightly better now because the other devices are bottlenecks to it. In the future PCI-E will be fast with the proper system architecture. If you don't have a choice then I think you can go with what you have. I know how money can be a bottleneck (when I upgraded my PC).

I think we need to have more polls to get more info. But I think these polls are a waste. Not all vote in it. out of 2000 not even 20 vote. Less than 1%. ??? :|

What the hell is that? What OS do you have? It is simply awesome. -
Yeah, that's right. But which software to use for it? The old norton ghost I have doens't make images of XP. Infact the program doesn't even start.

Yeah, AMD is good that doesn't mean that intel is bad. There is no problem with intel. All processors are checked properly before they are packed. So you don't have to worry about it. Both have their pros and cons but I think AMD finally wins. I have an AMD myself.

Firefox has been crapping on ME ever since I downloaded it. It seems to have problems with basic stuff like java and extensions. I don't know what to do. Why does this keep happening. How do I install extensions??
-
As long as it is more than 5.1 I think you can buy it. You don't have any other choice, do you? 5.1 can give you all you need for now. If you can buy the Creative7.1 as darkmeca said those are nice.

Firefox Or Internet Explorer that is the question...
canute24 replied to Judman's topic in The Internet
This post might be a long one but I spend my precious time read all the posts and sitting down to write replies to all of them. I have written this one in reply to all the others. If you have read all the previous posts then reading this one will not be a problem. I don't know why everyone likes firefox so much I hate like anything. It has features which never work. I can't use any extensions. Or maybe I don't know how to get it to work. If any of you who praise Firefox, would like to help me then please do. I don't know how to install extensions (at least I think so) because no one else has problems with it except me. I have extensions downloaded on my computer (.xpi) but I can't use them with Firefox. And sometimes I get this message to download plugin and I get this window tell it is checking. Then I can't use the browser, niether does the progress bar show any progress. And sometimes I get a box right in the middle of a page asking me to install plugins but I can't get the plugins to install at all. Just doesn't connect. Last time I tried to download firefox I had to do it five times, it failed the previous four times. To check for upgrades is the last thing I want to do with firefox. It just freezes. If when a page is being loaded and time out occours I don't even get to see the URL. So I have absolutely no idea which one do I have to view. Without the URL refresh also doesn't work. There are not even half as many options as Maxthon has on one page. I want to use Firefox but these problems won't let me. Will someone help me with Firefox??? I hate Microsoft and IE so much that I don't have a choice than to use Firefox. But if you think firefox is good then just check out Maxthon. (You need to have Internet explorer for it to work). It has so many features and it is so much more customizable than any other browser. Just check out it's tool bar. For power users this is a must. You'll fall in love with it as soon as you see the browser. Let alone using it. It also has mouse actions, Roboform ( comes with the combo version), tabs, popup blocker, Ad stopper. It doesn't display ads on a web page even if you are browsing the page. (That's the height of blocking). It is not advertised properly otherwise I am sure that Firefox won't stand a chance. I know Firefox fans will not agree. But just check it out. It's awesome! Then write comments on browsers. You want the best browser with all the features of all the browsers' then Maxthon is the one for you. Ok maybe not convinced, then how 'bout reopening tabs you have already closed. That's something no one gives. It can re-open accidentally closed tabs by and also reopen the last tabs that were open. Good enough? Which broweser can boast this?? It can block pictures, flash, videos, sounds, scripts, Java applets, activex, you name it, it has it all. Skins, mouse actions, plugins, tabs, you can lock tabs, set passwords, asign alias, asign shortcuts. Ok I'll explain it in short, the way all of you will understand, here it is: As Xisto is to hosting so is Maxthon to internet browsers. (One more thing it is totally free...eee!!!) Now I have three browsers of which I use two. Maxthon because that's the one with which I do all my work and Firefox because I want to use it. I am not a programmer (at least not till now, just turning into one!) so all that java tools and stuff don't help me much. All I am interested in is browsing the net fast, really fast without any headache. Googlue is perfectly right. I have know people who think IE is the internet and ask what is Internet Explorer. But there is one thing it is very easy to install Firefox once you get it on your PC. Thanks to Windows. I never knew how to install software on Linux. And to this day don't know where does all the installed software on RH Linux goes (I have used only RHL and Mandrake). But for most people Firefox means security. And with so many people using it, I think, security will be a thing of the past for Firefox soon. One thing good with Microsoft is that their response to security threats such as holes and bug is excellent. Better than any other software provider I have seen. (I guess that's why Windows is still alive). And Oblivion you don't need anything as long as you don't see it. As soon as you know that there is something that is better than what you have that you can get for FREE you will ask join the Firefox club. saladferk I would like to know how do you get to tab with Safari. Do tell me. Thats strange I didn't know that Firefox has mouse action keys. You can do it with Opera and Maxthon. IE7? It will be made to fight against Firefox. But people, people you don't understand. Why is all this going on? It's because people want to break free. But don't forget that firefox is the only browser. There are a lot of other browsers which can be better than Firefox itself. Don' believe me? Check out Maxthone. And for the one who wants IE back. There are two ways one through the Internet options as explained other simple method is. Use "Open With" -> go to "Choose Program" -> Select IE from the list. And before you click "OK" check the "always use this program for this file type" box. You are all set. -
Ah, ok maybe Symantec is good, but I have heard about its resource problem from more than one source (almost all actually). McAfee is one of the best I know. It is going down a little bit now. F-Prot is supposed to be one of the best free antivirus followed by AVG (from a magazine test of about 18,000 viruses F-Prot got 16,000+ of them and AVG much lesser that maybe more than a couple of thousands, not sure about the numbers though). I used PC-Cillin and as far as I know no one who has it, has regretted. The newest on PC-Cillin Internet Security comes with Firewall, AV, email scanner, etc and is supposed to be one of the best in the industry. It costs about $50/year I think. I am planning on buying it as mine is going to expire soon. Neat, fast, and catches eveything, not to mention the lagest antivirus provider in the world. Another one worth mentioning is: Microsoft. That's right! Microsoft has already purchased an antivirus firm and an antispyware firm earlier. So I think it will also be a considertation. We will just have to wait and watch.

Cool stuff. For those who haven't done much with graphics it is something really great. You might not think it is that good because you know that you can do better.

Now everyone knows about hardware and most will say AMD is better in a broad sense. But actually it depends on your requirement. If you want to do some serious video stuff then you are better off with a Celeron D than a AMD64. And a PIV or mp3's. Most of the people will laugh, but only untill they know the truth about them. The main reason for AMD being in the spot light is because of its price-performance ratio.
