  1. That's right too many gmail invites. That's the posters mistake. I think they should inform the poster. So that further posts can be avoided.
  2. What information do you get from that? And using XP on both drives doesn't make a difference. You can boot only to one of them.
  3. That's all right, but I think what everyone wants from an antivirus is detection. 100% detection. although it is not possible. The higher the better.
  4. One more thing was the argument that Athlon used to heat up and freeze. But now the tables have turned. Now Pentiums are the ones that heat up, power gulping monsters. Athlons are cool. . I mean temperature wise.
  5. You are lucky with that. Here in India a GeForce 6600GT or a Radeon 850 costs as much as a mid range PC. I can buy a bike for that price.
  6. Once upon a time I had this video compression craze and I was compressing videos with every possible codec. Sitting upto 3hrs just to test the final size and then delete it after 3hrs. I am not out of it completely but I was wondering if anyone was interested in it. I used to use DivX earlier. Now I don't use anything other than Xvid. I thought if someone was intersted then we could discuss about it.
  7. If you see at the bottom of the page when you login, you will find that there are about 2300 members and steadily rising. Although the real member no is over 4100. So this means that we have atleast, 2000 active members. But as far as I have seen not all vote in the polls. One of the polls that I had created I think there are about less than 50 votes. That's about 2.5% of the total. Where are the others??? This is very strange.
  8. HA, HA, HA, this one is better than the pervious one. Let's not get too focussed on what girls think. There are some girls which I came to know after I got here, who are good at comps. You'll see some of them soon. Just watch out for those posts.
  9. As you all might be knowing Celeron D has been released long back, those who didn't know, now you know. I was wondering if anyone knew about Celeron A/B/C. If anyone could find something about them then please let me know. I am doing a seminar so I thought it was better to know about these before I said Celeron D, because I am almost sure someone will ask where are the previous three. I think Celeron A was the pentium II architecture. If you find out please tell me it would be great help. Thank You.
  10. Don't tell me you are a 10yr old kid. If you are not then there is one 12yr old here. ha, ha ,...nic..ce. I think you are also right
  11. I am using 56.6k. That too is costly during the day so I browse during the night. It is cheaper. But I make it a point to check my mails atleast once everyday. With people here uploading and downloading hi-res pics, games and stuff like that, I was wondering how fast do they do it?
  12. Important: Do not, I repeat do not write anything about trading mp3's or sharing them with anyone. Or give out information on how to do it because it is illegal. Please follow the rules to avoid any bad experiences. Just wanted to know if there are mp3 buffs like me around. I used to collect like crazy untill my 20GB HDD filled up and then I got a 40GB one and then I filled up that too. Now I have 60GB's but I am soon going to fill that up too but this time it is not going to be mp3's. I want to do something, learn something new. So the space is reserved for linux, and other stuff like Visual Studio and Oracle and...
  13. You have to select the option depending on what is true now. If you haven't given a review yet then you have to select no and the vote and then give a review and after you give a review you can post tell that here giving the details (the link and identification after it is published). No cheating.
  14. I had to put OpaQue in the poll because I wouldn't be here if not for him. I like the forum too. I spend about 6-8 hrs here. I like the members too; very friendly and very helpful. Whenever I am connected to the net I am online on Xisto.
  15. Just a piece of extra fitting in front of a CD-Rom bay if I am not wrong. From the looks of it I can say that it has two LED's for turbo and power and two switched for start/shutdown and reset. Am I right?
  16. Now a days mp3 players are selling like anything. Prices are coming down and everyone wants one or has one. I couldn't buy a personal mp3 player but I wanted one so I bought a portable player (5 in 1). If you are wondering what 5 then here they are: casette, radio, VCD, ACD, mp3. Not something to boast about but I thought that this was the best way to see what everyone has.
  17. Let's get one thing straight here. Mega = 10 to the power 6. That's 1,000,000 because we count it that way.Which implies that 1MHz = 1,000,000 clock cycles (Hz) Now 1MB (that's one Mega byte) = 1048576 bytes. Why so? Ok, here it is. We humans calculate in decimal that is a increase in one digit (length wise) for 10 increments in the previous number (counting wise). That's decimal. For computers there are only 2 digits 1,0 so there is a digit increase for evey two increments, like this: 0 1 10 11 100 see? So the 10 to the power 6 in decimal doesn't work for computers. Because computers use binary. For computers one Mega byte is 1 kilo X 1 kilo. But one kilo is 2 to the power 10 = 1024. Thats why 1MB = 1024 KB = 1048576 bytes. That's half of what I wanted to tell you. The other half: When we talk about data rate say 10 Mbps LAN we say 10 million bits cross a reference in one second. But this is what we count not what the computer counts so effectively 10Mbps = 10,000,000. Now when we actually measure the data transferred in one second it is: 1.192 MB/s. Now look closely you will see the difference in units. Mbps is not equal to MB/s. You will see that 10Mbps = 1.192 MB/s. How do you get this? Simple: 10,000,000 bits = 10,000,000/8 bytes = 1,250,000 bytes but not 1.25 MB. Why you ask? Because 1,250,000 bytes = 1,250,000/1024 KB = 1220.7 KB = 1,250,000/1024/1024 = 1220.7/1024 = 1.192MB So data rate of 10Mbps (in bits) will be 1.192 MB/s (in bytes). Got it? Anything else? Just post it. I'm watching. By the way there is no use wasting your time on clock cycles unless you work at device level, I mean if you are working with device programming and assembly. It's a total waste of time. I gave up because I got fed up with every processor having different clocks and cycles. It's not of much use to me. If you are interested you're welcome. Carry on. Actually I also thought that this had something to do with overclocking.
  18. Most don't talk about religion because different religions have different ideas and stuff like that and it draws lines. I don't think people like that. I'm not from US but I think I am eligible to post on this topic because I am Catholic.
  19. Do you know if they pay? Most don't. They say that they pay but there are no payment options. I think you better find out about them and then ask people to join.
  20. You're right but it still depends on the moderators. I don't know why it has to make any difference. As long as the moderators are nice. I don't mind. I would love to help but there is nothing much I can do. I don't think that having posts in the right place is what makes this place nice. I like the people here; nice and helpful
  21. I have an Acer camera, when I remove the batteries I don't lose my pictures. Flash is a type of memory that doesn't lose its data on loss of supply. You must have it or maybe you camera is different from others. Your dealer should know. :DHope I could help.
  22. Ok I got it. If you have two drives connected to a common IDE channel then you will share the IDE speed. PATA has a maximum of 133Mbps so if you connect two drives to a IDE port then when both are accessed even though they can provide more data the PATA IDE will limit it to 133 or 100 or 66 depending on the PATA version. To get more speed you will have to use raid. Striping will increase your speed. Mirroring will increase your speed only while reading, not while writing. :DHope I could help.
  23. I am very happy on all the reviews. Thank you for taking your time one this. But I don't get this one thing someone says Avast is slow and someone else says its fast. My AV expired yesterday. I wanted to know which one to get now. Nortor really loses out. Now the major contenders are Avast, F-Prot and AVG. I am still not sure. I think I will wait for some more reviews. Antivirus is a must. Viruses spread to every corner, even without an network. If you say there is no need of an AV then you don't have one, and when you install a good one and scan your PC you'll get a load of them having fun in your PC
  24. It's because the society is like that I guess. You are right. It also depends on the person but the games are to be blamed partially. Actually the whole society is responsible to some extent. But parents should do their duty.
  25. Those who post in this topic or any other topic please keep in mind that there are people fro all over the world here. So make sure that you explain things properly. I don't understand IB. Would you understand if I said BE in ME. ok. Bye.
