What is a happy life? How do you consider a happy life
Neutrality replied to NguyenLongQuang's topic in General Discussion
To me, living a happy life means to do what you enjoy doing best. You don't have to go overboard to enjoy life, but whatever makes you feelhappy. Living a happy life means to enjoy time with your family and friends, to cherish the moments you share with them. Living a happy life means to explore places you really want to explore, to travel to places that you really want to see. Living a happy life means to be lessmaterialistic and more grassroots. The world has become so technologically advanced that most people have lost sight of the betterthings in life - nature, friendship, kindness, etc. I prefer the grassroots over materialism any day. But this is my "definition" of living the happylife. -
My ideal job? It would be to get into art, hands down. I love to draw. I may lack ideas sometimes, but that's a stumblingblock I could eventually overcome. But anyways, if I had the chance, I would move up north somewhere and just draw or paint the scenary. Otherwise, I would probably get into drawing my own cartoons and comic books. It won't happen, but one can dream, right?

The pope suffered immensely through his life, travelled to many countries, wrote many encyclicals. It's too bad that he died and sufferedfor so long with a myriad of disorders, but as someone pointed out earlier, there are people who do even more good but die and are neverrcognized. But that's how it is in this world - the more popular you are,the more reknowned you will become, no matter what you say or do. I'm not saying that John Paul II was a bad man by any stretch of theimagination (deceived maybe, but...), I'm just re-establishing the point.

This is a VERY hard issue to discuss. I'm seeing this issue from both lights it seems. On one hand, she was in a vegetable-like state for 15 years suffering immensely (as did her parents). On the other hand, I don't know is she actually wanted to die if she ever ended up in a statelike that. Some sources say yes, some sources say no, so it's prettyup in the air.I don't know...the only thing I find abit awkward is how some people talk about her or how they refer to her as. "The brain-dead woman", "The vegetable", etc. I don't think people would like to be called such names if they were ever in a situation like that. SometimesI just don't understand people.

Internet talk gets monotonous very quickly. I'm tired of hearing a bunchof doorknobs blabbing out a bunch of random words in an inconsistent pattern. It's pretty hard to understand what a person is saying when they speak like 3 year olds. And I do think that people are losing theirgrammar/spelling skills the more time they spend on msn/aim/chat. But,I like to go against the grain. I hate using non-sensical words with numbers in them. It just isn't me. And often, it isn't anyone else's styleeither. My rant is done.

Well, if the animals are allowed to eat meat, why aren't we allowed to?I thought we were "animals" also. And yes, meat does have nutrients that vegetables don't like I mentioned in the post I made a few weeks back. You could survive on vegetables alone, but you would most likely skinny and weak (unless you already have a strong metabolism). You may even become anemic (which is a difficiency resulting from a lack of iron...I believe meat contains most of our iron intake, wheat contains a little, and several vegetables as well, correct me if I'm wrong).

When I actually had Windows XP installed onto my computer, I already had a bad feeling about it. I hate Windows XP. It was slow, all sorts ofweird pop-ups popped up every 10 minutes or so (and they weren't wholesome messages either), it had a lot useless stuff in it, my printer modem and sound card did not work on it (I wasn't going to buy XP-compliant hardware either) and apart from the graphics, in short, it was bad. Now, I'm just talking about Windows XP Pro. I won't even imagine how bad Windows XP Home is. I'll always like my Windows 98.

Why Was My Account Suspended? I still have hosting credits
Neutrality replied to odomike's topic in Web Hosting Support
I am suspended too! Wow, that's really weird. Something must be wrong with the hosting credit script, because I have a sufficient amount of hosting credits. Mods please merge this reply to the above reply since I can't edit it. -
Why Was My Account Suspended? I still have hosting credits
Neutrality replied to odomike's topic in Web Hosting Support
I think I'm also having a similar problem. I can't seem to log into my CPanel either. Am I suspended as well? I have 8.3 credits right now, so I don't think I'm suspended. Weird. I hope it's fixed, whatever the problem is. -
Brain Chip Reads Man's Thoughts want one? :P
Neutrality replied to serverph's topic in Science and Technology
No, I think it's much closer than that. Not just based on this article, but on numerous articles that I have read in the past about microchips in the brain. Imagine what theycould do if they had someone implant microships into their brain. They could read someone's thoughts and do whatever they want with them (ie. brainwashing). They could make someone think the way they want him/her to think! And when I say "they" I mean the government, large companies, etc. It's pretty scary stuff if you ask me. It's like a sci-fi movie, but it's actually real. -
If you don't want to wear it, don't. If she is a true friend, she will understand that you don't like Sponge Bob and don't want to wear it. She should understand, but I don't know her, so I want cast judgement. In my opinion, I hate Sponge Bob. It think it's overrated, not funny, anddumb. I don't hate it with a passion, but I certainly wouldn't be on thetop of my list. But anyways, just my opinion.

Brain Chip Reads Man's Thoughts want one? :P
Neutrality replied to serverph's topic in Science and Technology
I don't think that I would feel comfortable with something like that in mybrain. What if something malfunctions with the chip? Even if nothing malfunctions, I still wouldn't want one. I think that their taking technology too far. I understand that it could be benefitial for people who can't use their arms or legs, but it also has downsides. With something like this, people would become lazy. I don't really feel like going through the all of the downsides. Just my opinion. -
The Simpsons are my favourite tv show. I have the 1st, 2nd and 3rd seasons on DVD. But anyways, my favourite character would have to be Homer. His stupidityis just something you can just laugh at over and over. There are some people whoact stupid who aren't funny, but Homer - different story. It seems that since thebeginning of the show, he has progressively become dumber. My favourite episode would have to be when Sideshow Bob marries Selma and plots to kill her. There are others that come pretty close, but that one may be the best. In my opinion, the best episodes were in the first four seasons. There are some good ones in the other seasons, but those first four were loaded with great episodes. I guess after years of producing the show, they've grown lax in thinking of new ideas.

I hear these stupid "jokes" all the time. In most cases, I just don't bother to respond. They're just used by kids who can't think up any original jokes. Either that, or kids who can't thinking about their friends'moms. Now just think about it as if it were literal for a moment. Who in their right mind would want to make love to their friend's mom, or anyone's mom for that matter? Well, I guess Sigmund Freud's theory wasn't as half-baked as I thought (if you don't know what I'm talking about, don't worry).

You're all so very lucky. I'm stuck with AOL dialup. If anybody has to complain about their internet being slow and stupid, it would be me. In most cases, my download speed is around 3 KB/second! And AOL isn't the cheapest thing around either. I'd say $30 a month Canadian. Now that's a lot of money for dialup. Just because it has a few more featuresthan some other providers, doesn't mean it's worth the money. Well I'm done whining about "dilemma".

In response to your "former self": Oh please, stop wallowing in self-pity.To assume that every person that is below the poverty line only begs for money to buy boozes is pretty ignorant. But that's not the point. Thepoint is is that no, this world is not perfect, and there really isn't that much we can do to bring it to a utopian state. However, we can do thelittle things. We can be good role models in the community. We can bewhat everyone else is afraid to be or refuses to be. We can be the onesthat do the dirty work. No one said it would be easy, no one said it would be a roller-coaster ride, but you know what? Life isn't a roller coaster ride. It's a bumper car. Sorry for the rant, but it just came out. Now, this is the ironic thing about people who are like this (I'm not trying to make put ill down or anything, I'm just commenting on his journal entry). They complain about all of this garbage that is happening, all of this corruption, back-stabbing, whatnot, and yet, they do little to try to eleviate the situation. I understand that in some situations it may be too hard to try, but if you're going to talk, you might as well walk also. I'll admit. In the past, I thought very closely tohow ill did. I always looked at the terrible side of everything. I thought the same way when it came to the government, religions, people in general, the media, anything. And you know what? I was one of thosetalked but didn't walk. However, I have changed. I don't look on life asbeing as gloomy anymore. I try my best to just be the best person I canbe. I try to act like an example - not so people can become like me, but just to go through the narrow road, the one few dare to cross. Another rant. But anyways, that's just my two cents. Take it for what it's worth.

Yeah, society has really messed kids up these days. It's now the "buy me everything or I hate you" mentality. And these parents don't havethe common sense to stand firm and tell their kids "NO"? My gosh. When my parents said no, it meant no. They were firm but not harsh. I thank them for being like that. It kept me from trouble and from doingsomething that I would probably have regretted.Kids are basically being persuaded by the media to go against the parents wishes, even if it's better for them in the long run. The media is"molding" the next generation into something I don't see to be very wholesome. I'm not saying all kids are like that, but the majority are.I go to school, what do you think is the first thing I see in someone's hand? A cellphone. Everyone has to have a cell phone. They all have to talk to a billion people at least once a day. What next? MP3 and CD players. Now, I use my CD player from time to time, but these kids constantly use them. Some of them never take it out of their ears. This all ties into the "sheep mentality" as I call it. But anyways, I went on a bit of a rant there. The point is is that parentsjust give into their kids too easily. Discipline has become a liability, butbeing laid back and being the "dog on a leash" has become "trendy" andthe "new thing". It' sad to see and hear, but what can we do? Few careabout the sensible and even fewer want to.

People Who Put You Down And Think They Are The Best.... Punks :(
Neutrality replied to BaSsMaNjR5's topic in The Vent
Don't worry. We've all had our share of conceited blowhards who strutaround and insult others because they're different or not in the "click". They think they are it, but in reality, they're just like everyone else. They put on their pants one leg at a time. It does bother me to a certain extent, but sometimes I just have to throw my arms up and say "Whatever." Thank goodness my friends aren't like that for the most part. But just remember, they'll get their just desserts - in more ways than one. -
I was wondering why too. I was trying to register a domain there a week or so ago, but the site said that it was temporarily unavailable. I've also seen some strange css code when I visit other uni.cc domains. It's real strange. I have no idea what's going on around there. Are hackers actually responsible for this?

Always remember that you should go for something you enjoy. No one should force you or convince you to go into something you don't see yourself doing. On the other hand, try different career paths. You don't have to automatically change your ideal career path if you find something new, but this lets you test the waters abit. You may even find something you enjoy when you exercise this approach. However, don't let the future get you down. If you work hard and stay out of trouble, your future should turn out the way you want it to. Hard work always pays off in the end. But by the same token, don't think about the future overexcessively, because we live in the present, not in the future.

In my free time, I usually go on the computer for abit and work on games. I also play video games from time to time, ride my exercise bike, draw, watch the Simpsons on DVD, and on the odd occasion, I goto a friend's house. In the summer, I do what I usually do, and sometimes I go to the mall. I used to go to the park to play football, basketball badminton and stuff like that, but I haven't really done thatin past summers. I hope to change that this Summer.

I watched that movie twice on the weekend. It's a good movie. But anyways, no, I don't really think that my life is a reality show (or a 24-hour TV show for that matter). At one time I did have that feeling, but that was awhile ago.

I like music (70s rock mostly), but I think the music industry today has sunk to the bottom just like everything else on this planet. In the end, it's all about the money. It's all about selling out, selling millions of copies of a certain album, andthat's about it. Music has gotten worse and worse in my opinion since the beginningof the 1990s. It's not about the quality of the music - it's about the quantity of themusic one can sell. I'm not saying that it's only been like this since the early 90s,but it has gotten worse since that time. I can't really name one good band right now that I enjoy listening to. It's my opinion, yes, but there are many others who feel the same way as I do. That should tell us something.

I don't really know about this JSP, but let me say this. PHP, as far as I can tell, isprobably the most used scripting language on the web. It's what the majority of website developers use. PHP is good because it handles databases very well, it's not hard to learn, and it's free. In my opinion, PHP is probably better than JSP, butthen again, I'm assuming that it is, which is kind of ignorant on my part. But whatever suits you best is all I can say. To each their own.
