I wouldn't say that "lol", "rofl", "pwned", etc. are part of the "leetspeak" per se. They're just shorter versions of various common words, phrases, expressions and the like. But I'll admit, they can get annoying when they are used in excess and for no plausible reason other than to take up space. But if its used at the right times, even sparingly, then sure, do what you will.On the other hand, no I don't get inferiorated by their use either. I'm a very docile and long-tempered person most of the time, so things like that don't really upset me. Notice from Johnny: Merged double post.

Hey, two of my good friends use Xanga. They aren't losers, and one of them is pretty adept with graphics and graphical interfaces [ she's pretty good with Photoshop ]. Note that I did not take offence to thebluekirby's comment. But anyways, Xanga is what it is - a webBlog provider. Technically, Xangas aren't websites, but they do allow users to tamper with some HTML, so I would sconsider it web design in a sense, and I do consider Xangas websites - more like general websites yes, but still websites nonetheless. I'm done.

Is it just me, or is the world [ specifically the Western Society ] far too callous? I'm really noticing a trend in people's attitude and opinions - they seem so callous, and people in general seem "far-gone". Many people these days just seem so uncompassionate - uncompassionate to the point of being selfish. I understand that it's not any else's business what someone is doing in their private life and what not. I have no problem with this. I'm just getting annoyed with people these days just excepting whatever the hell these people do in their private lives, no matter how grave some things can be. They just react by shrugging their shoulders and continue to pretend that the world is a wonderful place where nothing can go wrong, no matter what a person does "behind closed doors".I was watching Larry King a few days ago about the missing Alabama girl Holloway [ I forget her first name ]. Her step-parents I think were being interviewed [ wait...maybe the father was her biological father ]. After a few minutes, I couldn't comprehend how uncompassionate they were. They spoke as if this was just some casual event that occurs on a regular basis. The mother was constantly fixing her earring, and the father was a bit too "optimistic" [ he said that he was very optimistic that the investigators and police were doing a good job looking for her ]. Don't you see something wrong with that statement? He said that, but he didn't say that he was optimisitic in them finding her. What kind of loving parent would say that? That's just one example of the growing cold-heartedness of society, of the world - and of people in general. Maybe I'm just sick of how "far-gone" this world is? I digress.

Richer For Poorer Should Richer Nations Support Poorer
Neutrality replied to varunone's topic in The Vent
Yes, wealthier nations should give to poverty-bound nations. However, I don't believe in wealthier nations spoiling these said nations either. In many of the poorer nations [ I'm leaning towards the Central African nations ], they have two major causes of their "destitution": a) very corrupt governments and women having far too many children. I'm not saying that they should go down the way of the Chinese [ killing off the daughters, isn't it? ], I'm saying that those women shouldn't have so many children in the first place. Unfortunately, these nations will stay destitute and will even decline further as the other nations become wealthier in an overly "corporate" world. I'm not implying that we should just stop providing them with provisions and money because they're basically going to hell in a hand basket, I'm just saying that these nations are in a terrible predicament that may never be resolved. -
My mom's side of the family is very heavy into Catholicism. My family and I do not participate in Catholicism nor do we go to a Catholic Church, nor do we want to. We see them as being as faulty as any other religion, but that's another topic of discussion [ I'm not trying to rile up any Catholics here, that's not my intention at all. ]In the past, we use to get into discussions about Catholicism and all that. In the end we are accused of being "Of Satan" because we didn't follow the Catholic Church. It's kind of sad if you think about it.Like I said in an earlier post, I don't believe in any Religion. I see it as being a major cause of war in the world. I also see Religon as a tool being used to control the populace to a certain degree. Religion can become very dangerous if it's in the grasp of the wrong hands [ Hitler ].I'll reiterate what I said in my first reply. When someone asks me what my Religion, I'll say "I don't have a religion". This doesn't mean I don't believe in God either. It's just that I don't believe in organized Religion, which has proven to be corrupt many times before [ the Crusades [ the Templars ], the "Holy" Roman Empire, the Papal Inquisition, etc. ]

I don't remember a class where we were asked who we were, what we enjoyed, what we did, etc. Or at least I don't remember that ever happening in High School. Maybe in Elementary school, but I don't really remember my Elementary school years anymore. I guess I would say that I'm a pretty neutral kind of guy - I like sports, hanging out with friends, sketching, listening to classic rock, and maybe what I've achieved in the past. Maybe I wouldn't. You're right in a sense - what kid really cares what some other kid in the class likes to do? If it's a group of people in general? I'd say I'm just a casual kind of guy. I like listening to classic rock, hanging out with friends, sketching, whatever. Or I might just sum myself in one sentence - unique. Well, that's my "two cents".

Yeah, I've seen software like that before. IPB uses that template system as well [ or at least I think it does ]. I could use something like that. Typing out all of those "echo" statements was hellish and tedious. I'll consider it. Oh, and here is how the blog looks [ *NOTE: This is my website's blog, it's coded in the exact same way save for the stylesheet classes ]: Neutrality's Blog

Okay, after a week, I have successfully created a personal web blog. I first created it using a flat text file, I but realized that it was just too limited like that. So, I redid it in a database-compatible manner. NOTES: - This blog does not support comments yet. If you want, you can build on this script by creating a comment system as well. I may also update it with a comment system in the future.- You should have an average to intermediate knowledge of MySQL commands and database manipulation in general, especially if you want to add a comment system to it.- There are three files: BLOG.INC, ADDENTRY.INC, and MESSAGES.INC. BLOG.INC/* Use this as an include in one of your webpages, preferrably not on one visible to the public *//* Replace [ page url ] with the name of the page you want to send the data to [ ie. index.php ] */<?phpecho "<table width=100%>";echo "<form action=[ page url ] method='post'>";echo "<tr><td width=20%><font>Name:</font></td>";echo "<td width=80%><input type='text' name='name'></td></tr>";echo "<tr><td width=20%><font>Title:</font></td>";echo "<td width=80%><input type='text' name='title'></td></tr>";echo "<tr><td width=20%><font id='content1'>Message:</font></td>";echo "<td width=80%><textarea name='message'></textarea></td> </tr>";echo "<tr><td colspan=2><center><input type='submit' name='blog' value='Post!'></center></td></tr>";echo "</form></table><br>";?> ADDENTRY.INC/* Use this as an include in the page that will be accepting this information *//* Substitute <server> with the name of the server [ which is usually "localhost" ], <username> with your database username, <password> with your database password, and <database> with the name of your desired database. */<?phpif(isset($blog)){ $dbase = mysql_connect (<server>, <username>, <password>); mysql_select_db (<database>); $todaysDate = getdate(); $date = $todaysDate[weekday]." Stupid Science Teachers discuss stupid science teachers
Neutrality replied to WeLoveFord's topic in The Vent
I haven't had a science class for two years, but even when I had my science classes, my teachers weren't all that bad. In Grade 9, I had this tall teacher who used to frequent on the phone and on the gum chewing. In Grade 10, I had an older one who was generally very docile and graded very fairly. I did well in that class [ I had an 87 ], until I slid to a 77 by the end of the year. But anyways, those are my two cents. -
As the title suggests, what are <b>your</b> top 5 greatest songs of all time? Give the song titles, their group/artist, and explain briefly why you choose those songs. Here are my top 5 [ some of them you may recognize ]:1. Stairway to Heaven [ Led Zeppelin ] - The folk-like beginning and the awesome guitar riff at the end really make this my greatest song of all time2. Bohemian Rhapsody [ Queen ] - The catchiest 15 lines of any song in history. The greatest melancholy song of all time.3. Question [ The Moody Blues ] - Starts off with a heavy beat, then gracefully enters into a tranquil and melodious lullaby, and then back into a heavy beat once again. Plus the lyrics were cool and to-the-point.4. Run to the Hills [ Iron Maiden ] - Who would have thunk it? Cree history made interesting. What can I say?5. Hey Jude [ The Beatles ] - It's not really a favourite of mine, but since it was the second- most played song on radio behind Stairway to Heaven, I'll give credit where credit is due.So, what are your top 5? Remember, this is meant to be a subjective topic.

Everyone Is Wrong About The Iraq War that is the tuth
Neutrality replied to monkeys-r-orange's topic in The Vent
To the topic starter: I'm sorry, but to say that we are all wrong about our view on Iraq is a pretty ignorant way to start off a topic. It is well documented that WMDs were not found in Iraq. I'm not exactly sure if Bush was going for the oil when he first sent troops to Iraq, we can't say for sure. For all we know, he might have more of an agenda than that. You know how governments are these days. But anyways...Did/Do I support the war in Iraq? Yes and No. Yes because they are "liberating" the nation and fighting off the enemy. No because many innocent people are losing their lives in the process. -
I Despise Stupid Questions. How much is that 50 cent pack of gum?
Neutrality replied to Milk's topic in The Vent
I'll have to defend Milk here. Dudes, don't get so worked up over a little rant like this. Milk just has a beef with stupid questions that people know the answer to. There's nothing wrong with that. I have a problem with them too sometimes. Of course we all utter out a stupid question once in a while, but once a person starts asking questions that they know the answers to redundantly, it starts to get under your skin if you know what I mean. But, if there's a kid in my class that asks the teacher a stupid question, I'll laugh at it. Well, that's my take. Take it for what it's worth. -
Yes, I agree. I think we all "hate" annoying people in some form or another. The people I find the most annoying are the people who just never stop talking. They just go on and on without a care in the world. If I weren't so long-tempered and docile, I would muzzle them personally. But, I guess you have to live with it. Well, now I don't have to live with it for a few months since it's the Summer holidays. No more overtalkative goofballs to hear at school for awhile.

Changing What The Point Of Your Website Is... ++
Neutrality replied to Milk's topic in Web Hosting Support
Like others have said, no I don't think it matters whether you change the content in your site or not. As long as the content doesn't oppose the rules for content, then I guess you can change it as often as you want. And yes, it is better to have a more generic subdomain/domain. It's better because if you want to overhaul your website, change the content, graphics, etc. you still have the domain name that can suit almost any content. That's how I choose my subdomain. I made it a general subdomain name. -
File Size Limit It doesnt say what it is
Neutrality replied to fsf-clan's topic in Web Hosting Support
The file size limit is dependant upon the amount of space you've been allotted with your current hosting package. So, if you have Package #2 [which gives you 150 mb space], then the file size limit is also 150 mb, because you wouldn't be able to upload and store a file larger than your space size. So yes, there is a limit, but it's a "natural limit" as I call it. I hope you understand. -
"shadow Beings" In Photos Have you ever experienced them....?
Neutrality replied to Inspiron's topic in General Discussion
It's too naive to believe that those are actual "shadow beings". Those photos could have been easily editted in an image editor like Photoshop or PSP. In those pictures in the first reply, wouldn't you be able to see the reflection of the "being" in the mirror? I don't see one. Those look more like smudges or spit to me. By the way, I don't believe in "shadow beings". I've never seen one, so I believe that they don't exist. -
My three favourite movies are:1. Shawshank: Redemption - Amazing movie. It touched me near the end when the two friends were reunited after DuFreschne's escape from Shawshank penitentary. 2. Waterboy - It's downright funny. In my opinion, it'd the best Adam Sandler movie by far. And the music was good too.3. The Usual Suspects - Very suspensful. You would never suspect that the gimp was Kaiser Sose. It has a few quotable lines too.My other close favourites are The Night at the Roxbury, The Mask, The Mummy, The Matrix, Ferris Bueller's Day off [ It was pretty funny ], and the Lampoon's series starring Chevy Chase [ anyone remember Lampoon's Holiday Christmas Vacation? Lots of Laughs. ]

Xanga's okay for those starting out in web design. Sure, it's not super-customizable, but it's a start...you have to start somewhere, right? On the other hand, I prefer good old HTML, CSS, and PHP. More work, but it's worth it in the long run.

Creating landfills is wasteful knowing that the trash can be used for multiple purposes such as being source of energy. In Europe, I believe that instead of creating landfills, they incinerate the trash . After that, they use the incinerated trash for a source of energy. I don't know if it's true, but I'm hoping someone located in Europe can correct me if I'm wrong.

What type of music do I listen to? Mainly old 70s rock/hard rock and some 80s. Rock from the 70s [Queen, Trooper, Led Zeppelin, etc.] and 80s [ U2, etc.] I also listen to game tunes [ like from Final Fantasy] from time to time. I don't like the other genres that much. There are a few Techno songs that I like, and some other pop/rock songs, but I detest Rap, Punk, Country/Western, and whatever else is out there.
-
What are my three favourite drinks?1. Water: Tap or otherwise, I love it. Water is the way to go!2. Orange Juice: Tropicana is the best in my opinion. OJ is sweet but still good for you.3. Gatorade: Of course, only after a physical activity or a work-out. It's pretty useless if you haven't exerted yourself. But it's tasty nonetheless...I person enjoy the orange one the most.I don't really like anything else. Lemonade on the odd occasion, and maybe a soda [ which I have given up ]. Beer isn't for me.
-
What would be my favourite US state? Well, since I've only been to one US state [ New York ] being that state, I guess New York would be. I've been there a few times [ Buffalo, Lewiston, surrounding towns, etc.] Aside from NY, based on what I know about the states, I'll have to say that my other favourites would be Florida, Colorado and Montana. Florida because of the moderate weather, cool storms and Orange Juice, Colorado because of the beautiful forest and mountainous areas, and Montana for the same reason as Colorado. I'm more of a forest person than a beach person, but I wouldn't really mind the beach that much either.

Will future world leaders declare peace with other nations? No, they won't. Governments will always be corrupt. Remember, just because they might make "peace" with other nations doesn't mean that they're honest or not corrupt. That would be very naive to assume or think. Governments have and will have too much at stake to let go of their underlying motives [ money, power, control over the people and health, etc. ] Of course, making "peace" with other nations is just a mask they use and will use to hide their true motives. And about your global centralized government statement. It is very possible to establish a government like this [ they have the technology, right? ] But don't get me wrong. It will be hard to convince all of the nations of the world to join, but how many countries would refuse joining this global government, realistically? The UN has 193 nations registered in it already! I digress.
-
Oh, I believe that "peace" is possible on this Earth. However, it won't be the type of peace most people have in mind, I can guarantee that much. It won't be a lovy-dovy, pat-your-brother-on-the-back type of peace. It will simply be "peace" between nations. Crime will still be present, racism stereotypism and prejudice will continue to co-exist, and death will still linger as it always has. People will not change much.In my opinion, I don't believe the world has gotten any better than before. The state of the world has slowly declined, even to the point of going unnoticed by some. Governments are growing increasingly corrupt and power-hungry, people are becoming more isolated and cold-hearted, technology continues to replace natural joys, kids are becoming rebellious to the point of being anarchists, and vile events continue to happen, no matter what anyone does. Does this sound like a world heading up, or does it sound like a world heading down? The conclusion I've drawn is that this planet is going to hell in a hand-basket, but that's me. You might not see it as cynically as I do.
-
Oh, I'm not saying that anyone should be totally ignorant or anonymous to world events, news, etc. I'm just trying to look at it in a different perspective. Sometimes the news and the issues around the world do get abit annoying and depressing. And I'll be honest - sometimes, I hate listening to news. It gets me down in the dumps sometimes. Not all of the time, but there are moments where I wonder. And you're right - ratings, money and audience size is what really matters. There are some behind the news programs that do care about what happens out there in the world, but I think this group is overshadowed by the greedy majority. What a sad world this is.
