  1. VANISHED ??? That's really ODD. Nothing like that should happen. Are you sure it wasn't a temporary thing. Coz a lot of times even MySQL databases are known to vanish .. and then they come back after 15-20 mins or an hours time. This usually happens due to server overload.. when the daemon restarts things usually get back in order. Please check again and let me know. I'll have to inform the server maintainance staff accordingly.
  2. I don't know much about email to SMS but I'm currently experimenting with sending SMS off your desktop through your own code. We've bought a small experimental package from our local provider called AIS (Thailand). They gave up this small API - which states that you definitely need a net connection first and foremost... Next you simply connect to a SMS Server and use their API Calls to pass on the message along with the number to be delivered to. The SMS Gateway does the rest. Thats all I can tell you for now.. If I manage to gain some more light in this respect I'll drop by and make another post
  3. Oh Yes.. I forgot to mention. I deleted a spammy thread - where you had posts too and it was by that guy XtraQ8. I'm sorry about this, but I cannot delete a topic without affecting your credits - so my warning to you guys is that if you see a spammy post, refrain from replying to it whatsoever..
  4. This is also very new to me.. as far as I knew, all domains are made to point to the www server by default, as I'd explained long back in the post, What is www1?
  5. Yep I noticed that too... they've actually been suspended long back, but for some reason (owing to massive changes in the credits script) I believe their group never changed.. It shouldn't be a problem though.. Lemme check up on the list..It'll be most helpful of you though, if you can gimme a list... will make life easier for me
  6. Done New username: isMobham You should receive an automated notification email at the address you used to sign up for the board.

  8. MARRIED MEEEEEEEEE Urggggghhhh... NO WAY !!!! I still got a about 2-3 years of total bachelorhood beckoning me... as far as I'm concerned Funnn.. Funnneeeeer... FUNNEST
  9. My mom used to always cite this one very old adage - "Churi bidya boro bidya, jodi na poro dhora".. which in short translates to.. Even thievery can be the king of skills, if you aren't caught at it. I mean that was almost a literal translation and doesn't quite retain the essence of the original saying, but yeah - you'll get the gist.If someone goes through the pain of making unique posts in two different accounts and gets approved without being detected despite the wide range of tools we have.. well I'll say it's well worth it as long as it lasts But as pointed up, if one if caught sooner or later - both accounts get cancelled. Keep in mind, there are tools within the IPB itself to detect multiple accounts coming from the same IP or IP-Block. Admittedly two members might be sharing the same ISP or be even in the same household (siblings) .. but then the writing style in posts does give away a lot
  10. You're quite wrong there Unitechy.. While this ressembles the Fibonacci Series, this doesn't progress like that beyond the first 3 numbers in sequence. An ideal Fibonacci Series would sequentially progress as the sum of the last two numbers. For example: 0, 1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8..... Here the series progresses a bit differently: 3, 3, 6, 8, 15, 24..... Admittedly, judging by the first 3 in the set, it looks like Fibonacci.. but starting from 4th number it takes a different turn. You'd notice a that from the 3rd term, apart from the sum of last 2 numbers, the term gets padded with a sequence that progresses like 0, -1, +1, +1 ... Let me clarify this a bit further... (if we start by considering the 3rd term).. 3 + 3 + 0 =6 6 + 3 - 1 = 8 8 + 6 + 1 = 15 15 + 8 + 1 = 24 This is where it gets me baffled... and I can't crack the series being padded to the original sequence.. Maybe an example of the 7th number would help me get at it better... though I have a feeling this series would alternate between 0, -1, +1, +1, -1, 0 ... like that... if that's the case, the 7th term would be.. 24 + 15 - 1 = 38
  11. Incidentally, did you know that MS has decided to call the new Office as 2007 Microsoft Office system (notice the lowercase 's'). Reason's behind this new nomenclature are unknown and pretty much open to speculations. However, if you get the drift of public opinion - it's going to be quite hard to get people to call it by the new name and NOT simply Office 2007.
  12. Oh yeah microscopic earthling is highly interested I'd been meaning to get in touch with you anyways upon recommendation by quite a few other members - but it's been constantly skipping my mind...So out with your plan Am all ears..Regards,m^e

  15. I just got a call from home asking me if I was fine and all - that's when I came to know that there's been another powerful quake along this belt, affecting Indonesia mainly. We never felt anything here in Thailand. I've found a bunch of news sources going back to some 4 hours ago... But all of them quote widely varying figures of the death toll. New York Times: http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ London Free Press: http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ Indiatimes: http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ Guardian Unlimited: http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ Sify News: http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ The Hindu: http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ Sad.. as ever..but nothing we can really do. Proves over and over again how helpless we are against the forces of nature, despite all our advancement in technology.
  16. What they need right now is a major overhaul on the Personalized Homepage thing, so all these distributed apps fit smoothly under one roof and accessible from a single point - a sort of a centralized suite. The don't like the Personalized Homepage either. It leaves a lot to be desired. But I'm hoping they're going to majorly revamp it soon enough.. They must know by now with the amount of uproar all around
  17. Cool. Problem solved I guess. Topic closed. PM one of the mods if you want this re-opened.
  18. And where did you get this info ???When you make such posts, make sure you put the link to the original news source.. else your little "fact" doesn't quite gain the necessary credibility.
  19. Can you provide us with a more detailed review of this web-host you've mentioned? For example the amount of space and bandwidth they offered as well as all other associated hosting feeatures. That'd be really nice of you.
  20. I think I should add in some words here..Very good work ganesh - keep it up and thanks.. Not to discourage you - but as other's pointed out it doesn't go well with the current theme. But that doesn't mean we need to trash those buttons.. you never know - we might have a different skin soon So lets just wait and watch how things go..
  21. Guys - carry on.. this is going all out to be a raging fight It's gonna be fun - but please no flaming, no cursing and swearing at each other..Lets see how far you can pull this - while maintaining as much decency as you can
  22. Not exactly.. See, any number that can be expressed in the form 2^n-1 is a Mersenne Number. For example: 2^2 - 1 = 3 3 here is a Mersenne number.. but so is 15, 2^4 - 1 = 15 The difference among these is that 3 is a PRIME - since, it's perfectly divisible only by itself and 1. But 15 is NOT a prime.. (since it's divisible by 3 & 5 other than itself and 1) Thus a number which can be expressed as 2^n-1 AND is a prime - is called a Mersenne Prime.
  23. Human killer curiosity and the Noble quest for knowledge put together Update on this:
  24. A Mersenne number is actually anumber which can expressed in the form 2^n-1 (one less than a power of two). A Mersenne number which is a Prime is known as a Mersenne Prime. There's an organization called GIMPS (Great Internet Mersenne Prime Search) - who keeps trying to find the greatest mersenne prime using hi-tech supercomputing clusters. Electronic Frontier Foundation has even got a nice sum up as prize money ($100,000) for whoever discovers the first 10 million digit Mersenne Prime. More resources on this:1. http://www.mersenne.org/ 2. http://primes.utm.edu/mersenne/ 3. http://primes.utm.edu/largest.html This is actually quite an old topic at Asta - I'd made a post on this sometime last year and we've had a lively discussion on it. The thread can be found at: What Is: World's Largest Known Prime Number. Check it out.
