I used for a while Knoppix v3.6 (i think). At a point I was thinking to stick to it but I had some problems with the save settings option ... the one that should save the desktop and the settings of you OS after you shut down the computer.Anyway it looked great and detected all my hardware succesfully.

I have used a lot Internet Explorer, Opera and now Mozilla Firefox. Anyway Opera is much better then Internet Explorer (in fact anything is better then Internet Explorer but this is well know by everybody these days). At first I used Internet Explorer because it simply came with Windows and I wasn't surfing to much so it kind of didn't matter. But than I started surfing more and I realised that Internet Explorer sucks (big time). So since I hate Microsoft so much I sad what the hell and downloaded Opera. It is trully much better that Internet Explorer and the best thing about it (other then the fact that it is the fastest browser on earth...just my opinion) is that is has lots of options. For example you can duplicate a tab just by one click without having to open a new tab and write the adress again. But after half an year I realized that Opera has some big bugs that led to crash (not computer crashes but browser crashes so I downloaded Firefox. So now I use Firefox which is (in my opinion) great.Great is also the fact that the popularity ranking of Internet Explorer is falling (lost 6% since the release of Firefox 1.0 Not PR). I think Microsoft feels the taste of defeat ...

I have some experience with this kind of "games". A few years ago there was in my country a kind of piramid "game" called FNI. It prommised lots of things to the people that they would get rich over the night and this kind of crap(funny thing... the tv advertisment sounded like this "sleep tight FNI is watching over your money"). That was in '94, five years since the communist regim fell (some of you may have heard about Ceausescu) and the people where hungry and stupid so they've put all their savings in this "game". Four years later ... FNI got bankroupt and everybody lost their money (quite a lot > the order of 100.000.000$). They are still fighing in court with the owner but the money are long gone.So... don't trust someone who sais you'll get rich over night doing nothing. To earn money you have to work hard. That's called life...

AMD is the BEST. It's easy to see that they are ... for example they have the only 64b CPU for desktop. Don't really know why Intel hasn't a 64b CPU for desktop computers but the important thing is that they don't have one.There is only one thing I don't like in AMD > the fact that they have released 2 different sockets 754 and 939 - every one of tyhem have there own CPU but when they released the 754 their said that it will have a short life. Well it seems they changed their minds since they've lunched a couple of new semprons for this platform. I really miss the days when there was only one platform Socket A ...

I just read about this project in a computer magazin ... it is fantastic.I was really wondering when will the open source community release the 3D desktop. I've heard lots of things about Avalon (Windows Longhorn) and I was afraid that once released Windows Longhorn will destroy what remains of Linux.But it seems this project does a great job...still it needs more stuff like ... you have a nice 3D desktop but the wallpaper sucks big time ... now really, couldn't they get some higher resolution pictures for the wallpaper...

I think someone must be REALLY stupid to pay 500-600$ on a high-end video card. For example you could use the technology for nVIDIA that allows you to connect 2 video cards and get 80-90% more performance.So just buy two middle-end video cards and get the performance of a high-end video card.Personaly I was quite satisfied with my old GeForce 2 MX-400 (with 64MB) till I decided to get the GeForce FX 5700. I really don't think I'll change this video card for 3 years from now on. That's because i'm not the gamer I used to be ... I still play a lot but not the way I used to...

I think there are many questions regarding the way we treat animals, but this is not one of them. I belive eating meat is normal since we are the most inteligent specie alive, but that does not excuse the suffering of the animals. So we should eat meat but we also must take care of how we treat them.For example, in my country (which is due to enter in EU in 2007) we have a tradition of killing pigs before Christmas and Easter. We do it just by sticking a knife in the pigs throut. I think the pig suffers a lot but that is the way we do it for ages. Since Romania is due to enter in the European Union we will have to adapt. Some have done that already. For example people make the pig drunck and then they kill it.There are still many questions like why do we hunt animals since we no longer need that sort of food for a living. That would be the real question...

I'd recommand you MandrakeLinux 10. I have it installed on my system and it works great. It also has some interesting stuff for a beginner like you. For example it a program that help you eject the cd-rom from the drive without unmounting it. Of course this is a small thing but the diferences between linux distributions is made by stuff like this.Oh...if you only want to see how linux works you could trie a live cd distribution. This is basicly a linux distribution that you don't have to install since you run it from cd. If you are interested search for Knoppix. You know there is a version of linux that run from a floppy disk. If you really want a small linux distribution you could tried Damn Small Linux.Anyway Linux is much better then Windows, but it's only problem is the user-friendly stuff like the installation wizards (almoust non-existant in linux).

Well...we all know that Bill Gates gives a lot of money to charities but don't you think he does it just to escape paying the taxes which probably in his case raise up to a few hundred million dolars.So one way or another everything he does is getting richer and richer and having some money he will never be able to spend while many people die from hunger in Africa... I have played both games (Star Trek Elite Force 1 & 2) and I loved them, specially the graphics (great even now... that shops the power of the Quake 3 engine). I am a fun of Star Trek which I think is the greats movie serial ever make (beside Band of Brothers).So it was great to walk on the deck of the Enterprise... Anyway the story was great, the graphics also, but my favourite one was the first one (Star Trek Elite Force 1 )!

It's been 3 months since I bought my leadtek GeForce FX 5700 and I am quite fond of it. I used to have a GeForce 2 MX-400 which, you may be surprised, could still give me some good performance in games at medium details.Anyway, when I bought my FX 5700 I wasn't so sure I was making the best decision choosing nVIDIA over Radeon (I always has nvidia so...) but now I'm sure I was right. I'm still having problems since it is on AGP and I want to change my motherboard to a nForce 4 which has PCI Express. I think it's a stupid way for them to make a hole generation of video cardes useless...

One of the good things about Delphi is that it has a lot of tutorials. Just install it (I recommand Delphi 2005) and visit the Help.Of course you won't be able to learn the language just by reading the tutorials but it helps you when you start writing and you get stuck on something. You could search on the net for some ebooks on programming. I'm sure you'll find one!

Oh ... and one more thing ... if you start programming in Delphi the IDE will seem quite hard at first (many buttons and stuff). Don't be scared. At school I learn the good old fashion Turbo Pascal and that's why I started leaning Delphi.Even if I can't say I know only half of what Delphi can do I can't tell you that is a poweful language and, more important at this level, very very easy.It worked great for me. Hope it does for you!

When I started programming in Delphi I didn't care too much about what version I was going to use since I was learning the basic functions. But half an year has passed since that moment and I have started to care. I am using version 7 (enterprise) now, but I am dreaming for an upgrade. So is it worth to upgrade?

Linux is THE BEST. It has some problems thought like the fact that you can't install a program except you have an .rpm or you know the console commands. And even if you have a rpm you still can't select the place where to install...If they will repair this kind of bugs Linux will be great on desktop. I hate Microsoft because it wants to dominate the market and then give the peple whatever they want. Just like Internet Explorer.

I think people will migrate to this OS because of the fashion. When XP was released many sad it was full of bugs (and it is) and it will be another WinMe. But as you can see windows XP enjoyed a great succes just because it looks better and has some new features.It Longhorn is going to be as good as XP it will enjoy it's own succes simply because it's the future.
