  1. Thanks it sounds like the Celeron is a better choice for me. If it is 20% slower than than the listed speed that makes it 506.3MHz processor which is still faster than 450MHz. I'm going to switch the stuff this weekend.
  2. I can try trekkie, but I'm a graphics genius except for pbp (pixel by pixel), and that takes too long. Also, are black usernames the people who you don't know if they are male or female? Oh, and is that a new avatar m^e, I like it a lot. Sorry, meant to say I'm NOT a graphics genius, because I most definitely am not (unless we are talking about pbp). m^e, do they have to be exactly 80x56, or is smaller okay? And trekkie, here are the mods of your avatar: straight resize: http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ resize kept square: http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ resize kept square semi-color matched border: http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ Notice from wwheeler: Merged at Vizskywalker's request...
  3. I don't mind them, but I think they are going the way of the blink code. I think now that flash is taking over and animated gifs are easy to use and almost everyone can view them, simple animation like marquee and blink are no longer needed or wanted. As a BBCode, I think it may be overused by people, or it may not be.
  4. Thnaks guys, maybe I will take the time to do a test, but I will probably just switch to the Celeron. I don't have to worry about the chipset because along with the Celeron came a computer. The reason I even asked this is I'd have to take compnents out of my current PII to max out things like memory on the Celeron (It only has 64MB).
  5. I use assembly to check the port frequently. It is really useful, and that is how keydown() functions in higher level languages work.
  6. As a matter of fact trekkie101, I do yll at thr WinXP login for showing the username. The only reason I haven't changed back to classic is I'm the only one on my computer and I like the pretty colors.
  7. Yes it doesn, and I knew your calculations were right, I just wanted to have a quick response giving an approximate time he could use without having to actually plug numbers. But your response is the 100% correct way. Depending on how often the credit deduction script runs (which you never told us).
  8. But mods and admins could look it up anyway, so it wouldn't be hidden from them just because it isn't displayed. That's just convenience. Only those who have a reason to know the cpanel username get to see it, it isn't public knowledge.
  9. Being paranoid is a good thing, as long as it doesn't cause you to act too paranoid. And they are out to get you, they have been since you've been born. Xisto will help slow them down. Welcome to the ranks of the hosted. (The preceeding stuff is my crazy way of welcoming you to hosted status while functioning on very little sleep, if it offends you or worries you, please disregard it, otherwise laugh if you want.)
  10. I had the same question when I first got hosted. The answer is no you cannot change this, but others should not be able to see it either. So it isn't really a problem.
  11. I've been using a Pentium II 450MHz processor and recently acquired a Celeron 633MHz processor. I was wondering what the difference is between a Celeron and a Pentium processor and which processor would be faster/would you recommend. Thanks.I have heard Pentium processors are better than Celeron. Please give your opinion about Pentium V. Celeron :-)
  12. how do you add javascript or php to a BBCode. Does the BBCode just consist of html like any other webpage except it has variables {option} and {content} or do you have to do something special to get the javascrpt to start?
  13. I haveoticed that you lose .01 points around every 15 minutes, if that helps at all.
  14. after accidental research I have concluded that whatpulse measures keyups, so holding a keydown only adds 1 to score when you finally let go.
  15. I'm going to try and make a CODE type tag that allows for different code types, any idea on what to call it?
  16. So just to make sure I've got this right, if the tag is <TAG=blah>blahblahblah</tag> (angle brackets sub in for []) then I would place "{option}" where I want the option to be and "{content}" where I want the user to place the content? And what if I want multiple options?
  17. Sorry vujsa, but I checked and rechecked the PHP documentation for you and couldn't find anything. THe method of opening files used for what you are talking about is the "random method" (that isn't what the "random" method was designed for, but it can be used for that) and PHP won't open files in random.
  18. At 0 hosting credits your account is suspended. All of your data and files are stored on the Xisto server, but you cannot get to it through cpanel (or ftp?) and your website cannot be viewed. At -30 hosting credits your account iis deleted and the files and data are lost. If your account goes back above 4 hosting credits after being suspended it is automatically unsuspended. (By automatically I mean relatively. I think the hosting credit script runs once an hour, so you may have to wait at most that long).
  19. I always cheat, I'm going to tape the keys on my keyboard down. Just kidding, I type enough as is not to do that. And five credits isn't really worth it. On a side, note, I wonder if whatpulse would count a lot for that. Or if it only measures keydowns or keyups. May I have your permission to test it? Is there a way to delete the key presses recorded before they are pulsed? (If you give me permission to try it, and it does count not just keydowns or keyups, I promise to keep my test under 50, less if possible). (And this post wasn't spammy, so hah!) EDIT (as requested by vizskywalker 3/30/05): I found a version for MAC, I think it is beta though. http://whatpulse.org/forums/showthread.php?t=2312 scroll all the way to the bottom for the latest release.
  20. Follow up question: with the "action = mailto" form I haved used the get method instead of post in the past. With a mailto form, what is the difference between these two methods?
  21. I've been playing trumpet for 7 years and the piano for 3 or four. I'm starting my own band in which in I play the synthesizer. The problme is we are short either a bass player or a drummer (the reason I say either is because our drummer can play bass as well, so if I find a new drummer he will play bass and if I find another bassist he will remain on drums).
  22. As far as the connect software goes, you can find the most recent version here. Install this software and then put the link into the computer without the calculator attached to the link. Then start up the program, then attach the calculator. Your connection problems should be solved. And I second ticalc.org for you. It is a great site.
  23. Trekkie, all I care about is beating jipman. You can come in first, I'll take second. Jipman can have 3rd or 4th. Sound good to everyone? Oh, and trekkie, that was an incredibly short post, more commonly known as spam. THose kinds of comments belong in the shoutbox or IRC, not the forums.
  24. That's the reason why. The md5() function called on the password before it is input into the table is the reason it does not match the password you entered.
  25. yeah, well I have my laptop in school with me, seven hours of typing, beat that. And I'm going to have whatpulse on all my computers. You are in for it now jipman. I'm already catching up to you.
