How To Restore Back Up Website? including files, folders database
whyme replied to Dragonfly's topic in Web Hosting Support
Well, If you're going for a nice simple backup, login into an FTP manager, and transfer your public_html folder into your computer, this can be done easily using SmartFTP with it's "drag and drop" feature. As for back-up up your SQL databases, simply use PHP MyAdmin, select your database, and click export, there you can select all your table, and on the very bottom, save it as a tarball, or a plain txt file.hope this helps, -
Seeing how you have 213 posts, I'm already surrenduring.

I think that we have a lot more forums than a lot of other communities out there, what we're really lacking, in my opinion, is that we don't have enough people who are making good quality posts. WE need to have people who are willing to make the community diccuss and create intrest, not just repeating posts over and over again.

I've tested the link and it leads correctly to the computing hosting website, maybe there was something wrong with the linking earlier, but now it works.

There have been some reports that the Xisto website has been blocked by some parental control software and other security programs. These programs have classifed Xisto as "community forums", therefore, it is likely, that if you are using it in your school, the schools security program may very well be blocking the Xisto website.

I prefer the good o' original source from Cohen, all the other ones i find rather useless.

more info on the edit button, it has been removed by the admins, becasue of the ways some memebers tried to cheat the credit hosting system by editing their posts, Xisto apologizes for any incovinces caused. Becuase of this, make sure you reread your posts and everything esle.

This is not really a rant, but then again, it sort of is, so, here it goes, all about the avian flu, and our big fuss over it.In the current state of health today, people all around the world are now worrying about the possiblity of the Avian Flu killing millions and millions of people, much like the Spanish Flu of 1918. I personally don't think that we need to be so pessimistic, sure, the World Health Organization has said that this may very well be another crazed up pandemic that will spread around the world. But, if we put thing's into perpective, the Spanish Flue happended more than 80 years ago, medicine and vaccines have progressed with amazing results. We just aren't going to get the virus and die in the millions. And just to get on the safe side (At least for Canadians), Canada has already called on ID Biomedical, based in Vancouver British Columbia, to create a H5N1 vaccine that will protect, (Thus far, Canadians) from the vaccine. ID Biomedical says that they can produce a vaccination for every each and every Canadian within 6 months if there is indeed a huge outbreak. As for other countries, I'm not so sure. But what's really sparking fear is that the virus strain would mutate, and we wouldn't have the correct protection and what-not. There's been news that the virus strain has mutated into another virus similar to it, called H4N2. So as the fears grow, we should all realize that this "pandemic", is coming from poultry, so we we all ate less chicken, we'll have a less likely chance of a large pandemic. Anyways, the problem is only occuring in Thailand and Vietnam right now, and there has been fewer than a hundred people infected, so I think there's not so much to fuss about. However, I can't say that the virus might catch me one day for posting this.

That's interesting, because Xisto isn't supposed to be blocked, but since it is a community forum, much of it isn't considered "aprropriate" for filters.

I just finsihed my t-shirt design for Threadless, and they've accepted it, but I'd just like to ask the Xisto community on what they think about my t-shirt design, if you like it rate it high, if not, then rate it low, and if you really like it, click "i'd buy it". (But not really buy it.) Cheers, whyme

Yes, I agree, a border would be nice, do a contract pixels by 5 px, then put in 2 px of stroke, or something like that, I'm guessing that you used liquify or something for the background of the signature?

A nice little site, I tested out the poll, but it doesn't work, only pop-ups up outlook (or maybe you didn't intend it to work in the first place). Anyways, I think that font it self is a bit too big, and you should add some cell padding to your content table, beacsue right now, you text is touching to the very edge of the border. I'm a bit sketchy with the font character, try testing out the template in verdana.all in all, a very nice site.-whyme

well, i think that it's usuaslly that fact that if people use frontpage to make a site, they'll get like 900 errors, simply beacsue frontpage customizes to Interent Explorer's abitlity, with the next release of FrontPage and Internet Explorer, I think more sites will be valid HTML

Ishuffle From Ipod Digital Music Player from Apple
whyme replied to err's topic in Science and Technology
I'm planning to buy one, but am still a bit spooked by some worse -case senarios that i have thought up on the ipod shuffle, like:how can i navigate from song 34 to song 156?(do i press the forward button 122 times?to lack of a playlist function on the shuffle and a whole lot of other features, like display screen, etc.. makes you think twice before buying one. -
I almost forgot to say this, if your site does not have the following code, w3c can not verify it, For HTML <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional//EN"> For XHTML <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/; and, if you've had enough of making sites that just aren't compliant, just get some from open source web design, http://www.oswd.org/,

In our world of perfection, nothing comes closer to having perfection in your website than it being w3c valid, meaning that it's verfied by the World Wide Web Consortium that it's 100% HTML and to some extent, all broswer complaint. (cough*internet *cough explorer* ). Having this validation means that the site will usaully render the same in all broswers, and will be very easy for people with sight or hearing disablilites to view your website with ease. That said, I was wondering how many people here actaully thier website verified as HTML 4.01 compliant. veifry your coding here - http://validator.w3.org/ if it's valid, then post your link to your html complaint code. here's mines http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/

If oyu don't want to go into the hassle of making your own website template, go to Open source web design @ http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ all, and i mean, all of their desgins are 100% w3c compliant, and are really nice too, check'em out if you have time. They are quite professional. Best of all, the templates are free. (Keyowrd: Open Source)

Having a Credit Donation system is too risky, however, I have an idea that I think will work out very effectively, we should have a "member of the month prize", each month, mods and admins, and the members of the forum, will vote for which member who they thnk deserves to get a "prize credit" (say, 300 Hosting Credits ). This would include how much they're posting, if they're a prominenet member, funny, cool, and helpful. And each month a new member gets voted, so, yes, hat wouldn't be so bad.

I have a good ol' Sony CLIE NR70V/U. It was the best of it's class 3 years ago, a full TFT widescreen, and camera, Palm OS 4.1, 66 megahertz proccessor (don't laugh, i know nowadays, there like 122 to 500 - but back then, that thing was blazing fast.). I still use it to today, nonthing can beat a Sony CLIE, but unfourtuetely, Sony stopped making PDA's last summer. Here are some REALLY good sites for downloading Palm OS programs, http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ (can't beat the free programs) http://www.palmgear.com/ Some good software that I use Dataviz Documents To Go AcidImage Today AcidSolitaire and does anyone play SpaceTrader? I can't stop playing it, if you haven't, i HIGHLY recommmend you download it, (it's free). http://www.oalaah.com/sale/404.html (Don't let the screenshot fool you, you won't regret playing it, just look at all the Reviews!!)

If you need to change your subdomain name, simply go to the "Request Hosting" forum, and post "Subdomian Change". Include all your hosting info and everything else that a request would have, and state the name you want to change to. OpaQue would be more than willing to change it for you.~whyme
