It's quite unusally of me to ask such and obvious question, but this "thing" just sparked up to me, waht do people REALLY use the internet for?I'd like to conduct a little survey, so post it down and tell me what you use the internet for.I use it for:a) mantaining my websiteb ) playing online gamesc) bloggingd) reading newse) posting in forumsf) downloading programsg) researching for information

The reason why Gmail is so good is:a) you can archive your messages, something that hotmail or yahoo doesn't have, in hotmail, you end up with pages and pages of email, and i takes forever to find them:D SEARCH! duh, it's Googlec) 1 GB - I could never use this up ever. (ever.)d) Only Textaul Ads - that means quicker loading speeds, and no bulky advertisments that destory your email viewing pleaseuree) It's by Google, and no one can top that, right?

Here come whyme again, after the popular realistic sun tutorial, i've decdied to come back witha more simplistic and easier tutorial, but nonetheless interesting. A way to merging many pictures together is a great way to display something, it looks nice, witha sense of unity as well, however, learning how to "merge" pictures together can be a pain in the butt. So here's a tutorial that teaches how, it's great for collages, cards, anything really,. Credit goes to apdz STEP 1: This tutorial will show you how to use the layer mask feature of photoshop to blend different images. I have made a 400x400px canvas and added a few random 'spawn' pictures onto it. I also made the background black. Here is how they look- STEP 2: Now select a layer and go to Layer >Add Layer Mask >Hide All. Do this for each of the layers you want to blend. I added a layer mask to all of my picture layers that i want to blend together. Now my layers look like this- STEP 3: Now get a nice soft brush and select the black layer mask part of the image layer. Use the paint brush and brush around where you want the immage to appear. STEP 4: Continue to brush the other layers.... make sure you are on the black layer mask layer when you brush around. This will make the image appear where you brush. If you do not on the black layer when you brush, the actual image will be altered !!!! For a little extra feel to your images, go to Layer >Distort >Diffuse. This will brighten the images a bit. Heres what mine looks like- STEP 5: You're done! this is the end result

Yup, but more so, Photoshop is an amazingly powerful tool too.

Well, Roughly a year ago when Gmail was released, it was so rare for an invite that people would pay 100's of dollars to get one, now, becasue of such swapping sites like "gmailswap.com" and "heeheehee.com", the "worth" of Gmail is a lot lower, I'm guessing that Google is giving it's users all these invites, so it can close down the "trading sites". It's possible that it's also a hint that it's going out of beta, but, if it was going to go public, wouldn't they er, take back all the invites? Hmm....
-
Weird, yesterday, I saw that i only had 6 Gmail Invites, today, I micarously got 50? Seeing this is proabalby an excuse for me to post, any one who wants an invite can email me @ groskite@ gmail .com (I sapced everything out incase of bots ). Don't worry, I'm not going to spam you.

Make Money With Google Adsense How to get the most money out of it
whyme replied to whyme's topic in Business Forum
Yes, they do send you out a payment, after you reach 100 dollars US, BUT, they do it at the end of every month, and the day they disabled it hpappended to be the beginning of october, sigh... -
Having used Google's Adsense program before, I know it's a great way to generate money from your website. Google Adsense Program offers you PPC Advertising, know as Pay Per Click, it's a great way for you to earn money for a website that would otherwise be sitting there, generating no money. I've decided to teach you a few steps and tips, on how to squeeze the most out Google Adsense. If you're successful, you could be raking out anywhere from 300 - 500 Dollars US a month. (Or even more)*~Drool~* <span style='font-size:14pt;line-height:100%'>THE STEPS.</span> 1.Register for a Google Adsense account, (Duh). Go to https://www.google.com/adsense/start/?gsessionid=3-GWxCTWt89HsBlQWCE0BQ. After you registered, it's time to play the waiting game. Google takes approx. 2 - 3 days to check your website, and see that it's got the right content, etc, etc... Here's a note, Google tends to not let Blog sites to participate in the Google Adsense Program, you'll understand why, later on. 2. Hopefully, you will now have a verified Google Adsense account. And you can log onto your Publisher's account. 3. Now, the money making begins, first of all, make sure that your site actually has VISITORS! If not, try to visit a traffic exchange site, or convince your siblings to visit it often. Customize your codes, and paste it onto your site. <span style='font-size:14pt;line-height:100%'>THE DO'S AND DON'T OF GOOGLE ADSENSE.</span> 1. Consistency is Good. Google in my opinion is too, er, nosy, yes, that's right, nosy. Here's why, when I first signed up for a Google Adsense account, I got roughly 2 -3 dollars from the ads a day. A few weeks later, I got more visitors, and i got around 30 - 50 dollars. Then, they emailed me and said this: In furry, I had about 340 Dollars US sitting in my Adsense Account, my first reaction was, W.T.F. So, I emailed them again, And they merely replied: Hello Anthony, Thank you for your email. Now, clearly you can learn from this lesson that Google watches your account VERY closely, and if they notice that there's something "fishy" going on with your account, they say "Bye Bye" to your account. I still insist till today that I never did anything against the Google Rules and TOS. So, If you suddenly have a jump in the number of Clicks that you get, you might just get screwed over by Google. That's why you always want a steady stream of visitors, or else, you'll risk having your account suspended, like what happened to me. 2. Keywords are the KEY. I mentioned earlier that Google tends to not accept blogs for the Adsense Program, here's why: Blog's as you know, give out a wide variety of information, one day, the author could be talking about Goose Repellent, the other he could be talking about Computers. The was Adsense works is that it scans your page for keywords, then applies those keywords into the advertisements, therefore, if you're website is all about Computers, you'll have computer-based ads, if it's about goose repellent, then, you'll, er, have goose repellent ads. The thing about ads, is, that they all aren't worth the same price per click. So to say, if you have a computer ad, and someone clicked on it, you'd probably get $2 for that, on the other hand, if you had a Goose Repellent site, you'd get 2 cents for that click. So, if you had a blog, then you could talk about certain keywords and youd get more revenue, as opposed to a goose repellent site, which cant change their content. Therefore, it's important that you maximize your revenue by using "expensive" keywords, such include: Web Hosting - 2 - 8 dollars a click Computers 1 -3 dollars a click So, if you website is technology oriented, youll tend to get more money than those who use a Goose Repellent site. In addition, Google checks the amount of times your page uses a certain words therefore, if you have the word cpu 100 times on a site, its very likely that your advertisement will inceldue something that has to do with CPUs. You can use this handy Keyword density checker to see how many words and stats on you keyword density of a website. http://www.ranks.nl/plans. Limit is a 40k website. 3. DO NOT click on your own ads. Seriously, if you click on your own ads, Google automatically logs you IP address, and then it notifies a moderator, then, well, youd be pretty screwed. Because you arent allowed to click on them, and if youre the sneaky type, youd go to computers with different IPs and <- snipped -> yourself. Its a good idea, but, again, Google also monitors how frequently the ads come from the same IP, therefore ,even if its not your computer, but you use it to click from it frequently, Google will notice, Google tends to go for a wide variety of IPs to ensure that it is actually getting real visitors. This is about all that I know about Google Adsense, if you have more tips and steps, feel free to add it to this thread. If you have any questions, please PM me, or email me. - whyme EDIT : OpaQue More links related to Google Ads you might want to check out Google Adsense Sucks - Pros and Cons about Adsense More about Adsense Google Adsense Tips Best Ways to Earn from Advertisements Google Adsense Colors Google Adsense RSS Feeds Google Adsense Important Tips }

Heh heh, You've come to the right guy. I've madea little 10 mintue timer scirpt with VB, and after 10 mins, it auto resets it self. Here's the code. Option ExplicitPrivate Sub Form_Load()Timer1.Interval = 1000Label1.Caption = "601"End SubPrivate Sub Timer1_Timer()If Label1.Caption = 0 ThenTimer1.Enabled = FalseMsgBox "10 minutes is up! - REMEMBER THE 10-10-10 RULE." & Chr$(10) & "Look at something 10 feet away for 10 seconds." & Chr$(10) & "Click OK to restart the timer."Timer1.Interval = 1000Label1.Caption = "601"Timer1.Enabled = TrueLabel1.RefreshElseLabel1.Caption = Label1.Caption - 1End IfEnd Sub I'm not sure about the arrays, but here is how it should work. You need to drop in a label, and a timer function for it to work.

Did We Land On The Moon? Did we land on the moon?
whyme replied to adriantc's topic in Science and Technology
Hee's some evdience which I think, is quite contradictory to the fact that we landed on the moon. - When the U.S declared war on Vietnam, many Americans opposed to this. - It was so unpopular that the US needed a diversion from this event. - They decided the "make history" and "land on the moon" so the Americans would be diverted from the war. (Like how George W. Bush diverted American's away from Bin Laden, by insiting that Iraq was more dangerous, but tyhat's another story.) - After the war ended, the moon landings also promptly ended - An average days temperature on the moon ranges from 260° F to 280° F, in these temperatures, film crinkles up into a ball. - About 20 miles about the Earth, there is a radiation belt named the Van Allen belt. No human can get through this belt, If you try than you get hit with 300+ rads of radiation. Unless they are surrounded on each side by 4 feet on lead. - There are millions of micro-metors traveling at speeds up to 6000 MPH, which would tear the ship to pieces. - When the LEM set down on the Lunar surface, it gave out 3000 lb. worth of thrust. This would have created a massive hole underneath the Lunar Module, but in pictures of the Lunar Module, the ground underneath is untouched. - And how many years has it been now, roughly 30 years, and why haven't we gone back to the moon? NASA says it's too darned expensive, but some how the can afford billions to send robots to mars and jupiter? Confused - lastly when one of the moon landers, Buzz Aldrin, was asked to legally swear that he had been onto the moon, he REFUSED to do it. It's up to you to decide what's right and what's wrong. Here are links that show flaws and errors in which NASA claims to be REAL photographs on the moon, as well as ALOT more information on the hoax's http://batesmotel.8m.com/ http://engineering.illinois.edu/~akapadia/moon.html http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ A simple search on Yahoo, Google, or Dogpile for "Moon landings will show you more results for fake moon landings than actual information on the moon landings. -
So to speak, all major search companies (Google, Yahoo, Ask Jeeves, Microsoft) are now in the "Desktop Search Wars", as computers are getting larger and larger, more and more stuff can be put into computers, however, finding the stuff that you need becomes harder as well. In such of this, Google sparked the Desktop Search and now, Yahoo and Mricosoft are scrambling to get their own desktop search engines. And to add more fuel to this fire, Apple just released its "Spotlight" search technology, adding more pressure for Google, Microsoft and Yahoo to design better equiped Desktop Search Engines. Further more, the long anticipated released of Windows Longhorn, the successor of Windows XP, is specualted by many, many, tech experts that Microsoft will introduce a new search technology within the Longhorn OS. Much like Apple's Spotlight Search Technology.Straying away from the Search Engine Wars, the Blogging competition is really nothing new, MSN issued out the "Msn Space" so more users would access MSN, and hopefully derive some users away from Google's popular Blogger service and other blogging services. If my assumption is correct, by the end of 2005, Google, Ask Jeeves, Yahoo, and Microsoft, will have issued out each of thier own full tested and non-beta versions of thier desktop engines, and by the time Longhorn is released, the "Search Engine Wars" will have ended, becasue Microsofts longhorn search technology will have likey dominted the Desktop Search Engine market.

Here's another tutorial, this time it's a "Ripped Paper" effect. Enjoy. Credit goes to Jerner. ***SCROLL DOWN TO THE BOTTOM OF THE POST TO SEE THE RESULT*** Step 1. - Start out with creating a new image (size is optional). Set default color. Step 2. - Create a new layer. Using the Rectangular Marquee tool, create the shape & size you want your paper to be. Step 3. - Fill your "paper" with the color you want using the Paint Bucket tool (I used #DDDCCA). Step 4. - Now, Zoom in one corner to 300% Step 5. - Let's get started. Select the Lasso tool and start zig-zagging across te border as the picture shows. Some call this "El shaky hand". When you have selected an area press 'Delete' to get rid of the area. Step 6. - Continue doing this til' you have gone 'round the whole paper. Now add some drop shadow and maybe a gradient and you're finished! Here is my result... I hope you get something like it. PM me if I forgot something or if you don't understand!

Hmm..I don't know how to use Flash MX 2004 either, but I would reccomened that you visit the macromedia forum website, and if i'm not mistaken, Flash MX itself should have a mini-tutorail inside the program, try clikcing the Help thing, and then a tutorial will pop out, i think.

While testing a PHP script, I just sent myself (and two of my friends, hehe, erhm..) an infinite loop of emails, and didn't notice. And when I checked my email this afternoon... it used all remaining space on my gmail email account, over 45,600 emails! My friends are really going to be pissed at me... . Sigh, why must life be so cruel, now i have to spend the rest of my day deleting emails...

I thought that Centrino Technology was the most reliable and uses it's power most effectively, proabably becasue of this "energy consumption value", they don't want it to overclock and consume up all the energy. I suppose that it's a good thing for those who travell frequently or perhaps, don't chrage thier computers very often.
