  1. It's alright I suppose. Still it's not as big as an improvement over the original features as I'd have liked. At least the really fat interface from the first beta release is gone
  2. I've gotten several of them, though I've never used Paypal. Not to mention I've received emails from banks I've never had accounts with asking for detail confirmation. I suppose for the uninitiated it's possible to be tricked - I find GMail's phishing filter rather accurate and picks up almost all of them though
  3. I vote Truefusion. In contrast to Avalon's opinion I think the lack of depth is fine in this case, and I think the two sides contrast well in terms of colours.Razor's depth and textures are just awesome, but I don't think it stands out as well this week as it has before - oh and if it were a bit rounder it might work better IMO
  4. Typical noobeh sigs at the beginning - I'm sure almost everyone has them. Your new ones are a helluva lot better Kubi
  5. Actually, if you don't worry about paying a bit more on your power bills and are a heavy user of the computer, then I would say leaving it on 24/7 is a good option. The worst part for a computer is the start up when all the components are cold and warm up, and expand, and it's this that usually causes component failure. I would guess starting up and shutting down about twice a day is fine, but anymore than that and I would definitely be inclined to leave on the computer :(The only other thing with leaving on your computer, is, as others have mentioned, the power supply unit can eventually fail, and you may burn out the motors in your fan faster (but usually you'll be wanting a new computer by then, no?). Also it's suceptible to power outages - ie blackouts where your computer is running and the power cuts. That is potentially damaging also.
  6. Colours contrast a a bit too much - the green is very bright and overpowers all the other aspects of the sig (brown, text and render). Otherwise it's a fantastic start.
  7. Need for Speed UG is pretty good, and definitely revamped the series. I used to play the original occasionally too, which was decent for its time. I was finding stuff like Hot Persuit kinda crappy though...Burnout is just awesome though - all the way through they've improved on the series, and Revenge is just sweet.
  8. The colours aren't really working that well IMO Kubi... I like the C4D render you have, but somehow the orange and yellow look pixellated and artificial.
  9. 3 monitors doesn't really mean much if they're 15" CRT's ... and 2gb RAM isn't really all that amazing these days. When you have two X1900XT's in Crossfire, one of them big *bottom* Dell widescreen LCD monitors, 4gb RAM, and a custom case... (like that awesome Doom 3 case project) - that's when I'm interested...
  10. Norton used to be the best, but these days it really does chew through the system resources, and the subscription idea is really putting people off. Apparantly a lot of people have had issues with Norton screwing with files that it shouldn't and causing running errors. Best to stay away from I would say, unless you're a super computer novice (coz I'm guessing they have tech support )
  11. Fidel Castro was associated with Che in Cuba I believe? Somehow they split and Che ended up in Bolivia... (yeah, I didn't really listen in Modern History)
  12. The old iPods were rather good, I thought. In terms of sound quality, durability, storage capacity etc. Obviously they were expensive, as they were one of the original large capacity portable digital music players.Once the hype kicked in, iPods became cool, and that's all I'd say they're good for. The Nano's are rather bad and expensive - in terms of sound, and the screen durability. I have to admit they're stylish though. Also I guess, the technology is starting to get old, and the prices haven't dropped since day one, whereas all the other mp3 players have dropped their prices. Not to mention the battery problems with all the iPods and the time and cost involved in replacing them.
  13. Try something like Alcohol 120% - there is a 30 day demo. It allows you to create a virtual drive and mount your ISO's. I haven't heard of any free software, for it though I'd love to know if there are some around
  14. I vote Razor... for the third week in a row , but damn that planet is awesome.
  15. I think it's got a nice concept feel to it. You had problems with colour? I find it's best to have two colours, and then complement them with either black or white. Try and make the background a single colour first, and then try some brushing of your secondary colour. Change the blending options on your different layers and it may help it all fit together better.Che Guevara? Not Shagavara, right?
  16. Good to see you really took those tips to heart - the first one I would look at and cry "noooooooooooooooooob!" but the second feels finished :(Next time try some more colours, and vary your brushing or blending a bit. Still I'm rather happy there is a border (yess a border!!!) - which is something a lot of new designers leave out and peeves me off
  17. Yes, Age of Empires II: The Age of Kings was released a while ago on PS2 (2001 or 2002 I believe). It didn't receive the best ratings, nor were many copies made. Nonetheless, you may be able to find it second hand in some places, or new in EB or something.I'd still recommend the PC version though, considering it's cheaper, and just about all computers these days can play it
  18. Spybot: Search and Destroy is a good ad remover as well. I guess spyware generally targets those less tech saavy who click on links like "Your computer is unprotected - click here" or whatever. Spyware tends to just send back information on what you're looking at so they can target consumers *better*... I guess the people who code malware/spyware/adware have little choice, or enjoy the challenge of attempting to invade peoples computers. Alternatively, they could just be aggressive marketers, or the creators of whatever they're trying to promote, and get direct gain from the further growth of their product.
  19. Wasn't the minimum for XP 128mb? (or perhaps even 64mb) Anyway, to get the best performance out of XP, 512mb is optimal. I'd be guessing with a minimum of 512mb for Vista you'd definitely want 1gb for ease of normal use, and more for heavier usage.
  20. Woot it's Zabuza! Both ooze with style as always Reaver, I particuarly like the dotted border on the second - different, and works well in this case.
  21. Fantastic showing this SOTW - *me thinks it has something to do with the general freestyle nature of it *
  22. The second one is pretty cool with Adobe Space Monkey. Got the first one easily enough as well, with Merlin.
  23. I have to say it's a very good kid friendly site, which is mainly browser based and has plenty of things to do. I guess the problem is it's over saturated with members, and things like buying food are impossible to do as it basically flies off the shop shelf. The range of flash games and the character design is rather good in my opinion, and some of the integrated advertising isn't so bad (ie McDonalds store). At least the overall community is still miles better than Runescape on any given day...
  24. I don't see the glory of Defaults anyway? I mean, the end result is important, probably more so than the process
  25. *shock horror*... yeah, finally kicked myself and went and got some brushes etc. Bit more subtle than what I normally do... lets hope at least someone can give Razor a run for his money
