  1. Well not sure about Vishnu (god of death, India?). Most likely Allah or Yahweh seeing they spring from the same branch...
  2. We have pseudo religions using "absolute science" to prove that global warming is a fact, that man can destroy the earth, that man evolved from an one cell organism in the ocean. I guess you could say I'm a blend of religion and science to the point that I don't believe every interpretation of the scripture and the more I learn scientifically the more I believe in a Creator. I can agree that many things we are able to accomplish today would be seen as divine or magic many many years ago, but that does not mean there is never any divine intervention. Either way....don't worry, be happy!
  3. I doubt it was the ram itself that caused the problem but maybe static electricity? If you have your manual, look for a bios reset jumper. Also check the power supply. Check the plugs that go to your hard drive or cd-rom to see it there is power there. You will need a volt meter. Check this site for a copy of your manual if you don't have it: http://motherboards.mbarron.net/index2.html Here is a troubleshooting site: http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ (It is MSI, but it should help some.) Another troubleshooting site: http://arstechnica.com/security/2004/12/troubleshooting/ Hopefully a CMOS reset will fix your problem. Good luck and remember, in the future to unplug the cord from the computer and press the power button to discharge any capacitors that may be holding a charge. Also, touch a metal grounded object before reaching into your computer. Take care.
  4. You may have a point. Many times people read Revalations and assume God will destroy the world and then make a new one. What if He is just doing that...making the world new or fixing it?Something to think about but not too much. May give you heartburn.
  5. Do a google search for "build your own computer" and you will get tons of hits. Hit other sites like TomsHardware and AnandTech for some good hardware reviews. You want a good combo of a Processor, Motherboard, Ram, Video Card and hard drive. It is not just the amount but the brand/quality of the Motherboard, Ram and Video card. Also check for compatibility between which motherboard you purchase and the ram you buy. It can make a hugh difference in performance.Do not overlook a good monitor and sound system (sound card and 5.1, 6.1 or 7.1 speakers).Good luck!
  6. They were originally Discount Tires of Texas but have since expanded to other parts of America. This is in my opinion the BEST tire store in the states. I have always been happy with their service but yesterday (Sept 6) made my day. I bought a set of tires in 12 of '03. The other day after I arrived at work I had a flat. I took it to Discount to have them fix the flat and then rotate/balance the tires. While they were doing that, they found two of the tires were suffering from tread spread (bubbles popping up on the tires). While these were 55K mile tires, I have put over 60K since I purchased them. I transferred to a new job location and I have to drive 90 miles per day. They replaced my tires for free! I have had them do similar things in the past but not with tires this old. This is a really great company! Also, as a company to work for, they are great. Everyone starts on the floor and they promote from within. They pay very well and are one of the last companies who truly believe the customer is always right. Can't go wrong doing business with this company.
  7. If he is pulling away, the best thing for her is to let go. You can't make someone stay. Also, if it will really kill her then she needs to get out of a relationship period until she can believe in herself. If you need someone else to "complete" you, then you do NOT need to be in a relationship. You will only set yourself up for pain and drain the other person.
  8. Granted, I don't like breathing polluted air any more than the next guy, but to say man has that much influence on nature is just thinking too highly of ourselves. If it is true we are affecting the environment in a negative way then natural selection (evolution) will take care of the problem for us. The strong survive, the rest become fodder. There is just too much conflicting information for me to get all excited about it. For many years people believed the earth was flat, the sun revolved around the earth, etc. If the earth is billions of years old, then the last 200 years of the industrial revolution are not going to affect the earth cycle all that much.Just relax, enjoy yourself and don't worry about the end of the world. It will happen and there is nothing you can do about it.Da, di, da, don't worry...be happy....

    RPG fans!

I've been playing RPGs since the 80's and here are some of my favorites:Elder Scrolls (Arena, Daggerfall, Morrowind) Can't play Oblivion yet, my computer and graphics card is not powerful enough. All the Zelda games. All of the Wild Arms. The Dragon Warrior Games for the NES and the Dragon Quest VIII for PS2Legend of LegaliaThe Wizardry Series (All consoles & PC)There are so many I can't remember them all. I like turn based as well as wide open. There is one game that I remember playing on the C64 which was basically a text based RPG. It was interesting. You really had to have great mapping skills in those days.
  10. The problem is they are not coming to assimulate they are coming to earn money and send it home. We have allowed people who thought they were being nice to be in control and now we have a mess. We should not have voting ballots, street signs, shop signs or advertising in multiple languanges. When we do that, we are telling people it is okay to not learn our language. It is okay to not adopt our culture. It is okay to take our help and give nothing back in return.I could go on and on and on. Language is just one aspect of the whole problem.
  11. Get hurricanes in Houston all the time? No, not too many. As for evacuation, last year was a cluster, but then again, it was a Cat 5 before landfall. That was enough for me to jump in line to get out of town. I have learned my lesson though. I will wait until a day or two after mandatory evacuation is declared and then go the opposite way around to get north.Anyway, at least I don't live in Florida. Now those people do need their heads examined!!
  12. Yes, that is the purpose of armies: To kill and destroy. No use sugar coating it. That is their job and most people could only wish they enjoyed their job as much as those fine young killing machines. If the day comes that the terrorists have real control, you will beg for those killing machines to come rescue you. Yes, I will admit that we should be more civilized, but as a whole, the world is not. It is full of hateful, spiteful, greedy, immoral and evil people who want what you have and don't care how they get it. (Note, this is not a description of only the terrorists - some are wearing white collars and make millions).I'm thankful there are people who are willing to put their life on the line for my freedom.
  13. The problem with every windows release is it always needs a stronger computer to run it. While my current computer is way faster than that 386 I bought, the overall speed of doing work has not increased by much. That is my opinion so please don't flame on too much.A prime example is to find an old dos game (if you can get it to run) and see just how fast that baby is on your P4. The OS should not be the biggest resourse hog of your system.
  14. I don't care for the reported $500.00 US price tag. I just don't need to play games that much. I will not be one of the first to run out and get one of these babies. I will most likely wait until the first price drop which is usually 2 years after initial release. By that time, I might have my HDTV to take advantage of the HD graphics. If the PS3 can replace my DVD player and play SVCD & DIVX discs then I might be tempted to buy sooner. Some of the good things are built in bluetooth, wireless controllers, multiple removable storage options, hard drive and HD resolution graphics. All in all, I am usually a second gen buyer. I don't buy the latest CPU or graphics card. Also with only 400k units slated for the US, I doubt I could get my hands on one anyway. At least I would have a slight chance versus my brothers in the big U.Later.

    Playas Vs Cheaters

I'm not saying it is right, but it is the way it is. It may be slowly changing and I hope it continues to change but the man who "plays" is a stud and the woman who "plays" is the sl*t.I agree that both are wrong. People shouldn't mess with others' hearts in that way. Leaves too many scars and messes them up for when they do find that one true soul mate.Anyway, hang tough and don't let them "bad boys" push you around.
  16. Love is blind and women think that can "fix" us men. Can't fix us, can only train us to not wet on the floor. She should dump him. If she were my daughter and I knew what he was doing to her, I'd be in jail as I beat the living sh*t out of him. Anyway, if she is not willing to listen, you cannot force her too. Just be there when her world falls apart. Good luck.
  17. I do not have a widescreen monitor but I think I would like one. As with most new things, it takes the software a little time to catch up. Currently I use dual screen to give me more area to work in. What I really want is a 50"+ Widescreen TV that supports the higher computer resolutions. Now that would be a nice monitor!!
  18. Are you still looking for a copy of VB6? I have a legal copy of VB6 Professional if you are interested.
  19. My job issues laptops to us to use. The one upgrade that I requested and haven't regretted ('specially in those long meetings) is an EXTENDED life battery. Having my laptop last for over 4 hours on one charge is priceless.Good luck!!
  20. Like an earlier post stated, open your case, remove and reinsert your cards and memory. Sometimes something will come loose whenever you open the case. You should not have to enter the bios from just adding a card. Also, knowing what OS you're using could help others help you better.
  21. Please learn to use proper English when you choose to call someone else an idiot. It appears that politicians are the same no matter which country they hail from. In the States, it appears you either go with the party flow or you are not supported and are kicked out. Yes, they are not in touch with the people they represent. I see it in corporate America also where the CEO has no idea what it is like to be a bottom of the ladder employee. I guess it really boils down to that people forget their roots and begin to believe they can never be wrong. Later.
  22. There are many sites that have the information you are looking for, they are: http://ss64.com/nt/syntax-services.html http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ A good list of "fake" services can be found here: http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ You can access the service list by going to Start, Control Panel, Administrative Tools, Services. Good Luck!
  23. There are many good sites that contain the information you need as well as links and reviews of both free and pay software. Two of the better sites in my opinion are: http://www.videohelp.com/ (Links to many step by step guides as well as ratings for hardware, software and media) http://www.doom9.net/ (http://www.doom9.org/) Step by step guides for newbies as well as advanced guides for those who know what they are doing but trying to improve it. Good luck.
