  1. I used photoshop... and mario was actually in a "superman" action... I just changed it to fit my picture
  2. Wow! Thanks for that tip! Even though I won't be able to host stuff on my computer because I have low bandwidth (from my ISP) and I don't want to keep my computer on for too long...
  3. If any of your posts were deleted because they were spam, the hosting credits removed is more than the amount you received. If you spammed a lot, most likely you probably lost more than 2 times your hosting credits.
  4. The number of days is the number of hosting credits.
  5. Come to think of it, I've also gotten that message when I was checking for similar links. It's wierd, because it works on some links, and not on others. I really doubt I have spyware or a virus on my computer because if I did, I would know (and I use the most recent software, so I really don't think that there is a virus). Maybe it might be a connection problem, or just google having personal issues...
  6. Hello! Welcome to the Xisto Community! I hope you are enjoying your day! Please remember to take a look at Xisto's rules to avoid misunderstanding! We also encourage members to report spam and offensive posts. Once again, I welcome you to the greatest free webhosting community ever! Regards,~Dooga
  7. Welcome to the Xisto forum! Please note that your hosting credits will ALL disappear except for 5 when you request hosting, so you would be better off requesting hosting early (that is, if you require hosting). Once again, welcome to the Xisto forums.
  8. Sometimes it just depends if your proxy settings are incorrect. There are some pars (such as logging in) that require https:// and if you don't set it properly, it won't work. (Some schools block secure sites)
  9. It's funny, because I updated firefox a couple of minutes BEFORE I read this!
  10. Thanks to ex-admin Spectre for these rules! About fake posts: The single biggest threat in security is the human element. Methods such as social engineering are one of the easiest ways for an intruder to gain access to information they shouldn't know. It is important that everyone watch out for false claims of authority, and requests for sensitive information - especially passwords. If you receive a private message or email from someone claiming to have permission from an administrator, or that they are in a position to rightfully have access to such information, then it is strongly recommended that you check that what they are saying is true, with either myself, or another administator. One example might be: Or another: Properly structured and planned social engineering attempts will generally be much more clever and sneaky than this, and often seem valid enough that the user is fooled into complying with whatever the attacker is requesting. Anyway, my point is just to be careful if someone starts asking for something that seems a little bit suspicious. If you see something that you don't trust, then report it to an administrator as soon as possible. About Spam: There are different opinions of what classifies as spam, and I'm sure that various people have tried to put them forth here before. I've been having to go through the forums and delete a lot of posts recently, because they do not meet the Trap 17 posting requirements. And as I find this tiresome, annoying, and a waste of what could otherwise be productive time, I'm going to outline what classifies as spam here at Trap 17. Anything that doesn't seem to contribute to the community. Basically, that's what is outlined here. Anything that is very short. For example, 'lol', 'yeah', 'I agree', 'That's right', 'I think so', etc. Anything that doesn't make any sense. This seems to sometimes be a problem with people who's first language isn't English. Now, I don't mean to be discriminatory - but if it doesn't make sense, then it isn't going to contribute to the community whatsoever. Anything that is very repetitive. For example, if you start three topics which all pretty much say the same thing. Any topics that have already been posted. We don't need to vote for the same options twice, or here about the same events in the news again. Do not start topics that are already in existance. Anything else that is clearly not going to contribute anything to the community overall. Such posts will be deleted without question, or explanation. So if you notice some of your posts go missing, or your post count drops all of a sudden, then it means you've probobly been spamming. If you get caught spamming, then the chances are that you will not receive hosting from Trap 17 - so it really isn't worth it. Thanks to Spectre, Ex-Admin for these rules! ~Dooga
  11. In order for this forum to be as professional as we want it to be, we must have a very good contribution from not only the moderators but also the members of the forum. It is not possible to go through every single post posted everyday, because the forum database is increasing dramatically by the second. There is an estimated amount of 40 new users per day, and 8 posts per minute, and unless the moderators have the capacity of reading numerous posts per minute and has the ability to delete them in the matter of seconds, then there is no such thing as an unorganized community.Being a moderator for some people may be considered fun to some people, but in fact, it is not fun. Moderators are the people who get the most criticism and PMs per day. The word "power" is not relevant to moderators, because they DO NOT have any power, nor are they above any user in any way. This all depends on the rules of the forums set by the administrator. For hosting companies, Xisto is the only company that I found who uses the unique hosting credits system to give the community a very good reputation. I have been moderators for NUMEROUS hosting companies who have different rules. For example, some people might have heard the hosting company "Bullet-reaction". In that forum, a forum going OFF TOPIC will get closed, and there are so called "weekly cleanups" However, there are other forums such as this one that allows users to post freely under reasonable guidelines, even though I am NOT suggesting bullet-reaction being the wrong example.Sometimes, moderating not only has to involve deleting messages, PMing users, but also involves in protecting the administrators. The copyright laws are very strict in most societies of today, and in order to protect the administrators from lawsuits, the moderators must seek the copyrighted works in the forum, and either a.) provide valid referencing (such as APA or chicago) for the sources and quote them, or b.) delete them. Alas, the moderators must check every post for copyright validity and that is very difficult for some people to do.I hope this adds to everyone's knowledge of the job moderators must do. Thank you for all the members who helped by reporting offensive and spam posts.Cordially, The Xisto Management

  15. Banner? Good idea! *opens photoshop* I'll post the results when done
  16. I have successfully installed cashmod for php before, but that was when I followed the instructions as strictly as possible. Maybe you start over (and set that file's permissions to 666 or 777 chmod) It probably needs to be written in by another script.
  17. Couldn't we also use the CGI bin? That would seem easier for me
  18. Good suggestions! I think the thing about more bandwidth is good... some people offer 30GB of bandwidth as the basic package!
  19. Thanks! Actually, this picture was something I made by "accident"

  22. There! I changed the colors . I'm not sure what blue to use (I'm pretty color blind... well not litterally) more Comments? (comments=me like it )
  23. I used photoshop and the effect wasn't that simple, because had to make squares, change the polar coordinates, and use the ripple effect... well at least it's not simple for me
  24. If you have any bad posts or double posts, they probably got deleted and you lost hosting credits. (For example, posts like "thank you i understand lol")
